I came up with the idea of creating a Custom Roms and Mods Database, C.R.A.M.D for short.
I wanted to get some input into this first before i start pilling on hours and hours of work.
My idea is to create a central Link directory for all Custom roms and mods thats are available.
I was hoping to create a simple website that allows you to select your device then your version of android and then your branch of rom.
Does anybody think this is worth doing?
I eventually hope to have a central database for all custom roms and mods that are available. With approval of the developers of the roms and mods.
Please vote Yes or No so i can get an idea if this is worth doing or not.
I personnaly think it would be handy and would save hours of searching to find that one mod that you used to have on your old device.
Didn't you just describe XDA?
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
No i didn't even come close to discribing XDA, but i can see where the confusion is coming from.
Let me elaborate a bit more so you understand what i mean.
My idea is not to create a place for users to develop, because we don't need to. XDA has takken care of that for us.
What is want to do is create an easy to search directory for all custom roms and mods on XDA
As i know myself from expiriance that trying to find something using the search function can lead you to the wierdest things. And i know i don't want to spend hours searching.
What i want to do is (to put it simply):
Android Device: Generic
Gingerbread: 2.3
Rom 1: www.linktoxdathreadhere.com
available mods for Rom 1: www.linktoxdamodshere.com
Rom 2: www.linktoxdathreadhere
available mods for Rom 2: www.linktoxdamodshere.com
available mods for Rom 2: www.linktoxdamodshere.com
ICS: 4.0
Rom 1: www.linktoxdathreadhere.com
available mods for Rom 1: www.linktoxdamodshere.com
Rom 2: www.linktoxdathreadhere
available mods for Rom 2: www.linktoxdamodshere.com
available mods for Rom 2: www.linktoxdamodshere.com
So my idea is a tool to help speed up the process of seaching for Roms and Mods and then being directed to XDA to then discuss and download.
See C.R.A.M.D as the central directory that holds all numbers and addresses. Not anything like XDA just a telephone so people can look there devices up and see within a minute what all is available.
But this would make it earsier on the flashaholics out there, The ones who want to flash every rom and mod available without having to search and search to find that one mod they can't seem to find anymore
This seems like a good idea, searching the whole of xda takes time. I will vote yes.

I have been looking around alot and i am honestly very confused by all the different posts and statements of people so i decided to make my own post instead.
My phone is rooted and i have ClockworkMod Recovery. That's as far as i have come. What now?

I would like to test out a new ROM.
Does my Radio have to be updated ?
I have read alot about this CyanogenMod but have no clue as to which version to go for.
CM 7.2 RC1? (Edit: Hmm, Seems that this hasn't been released yet? or?)
CM 7.1 RC3? (Edit: Hmm, Is this the one i should go for? in case it is. can i have a direct download link since I don't have a clue)
or even another ROM. no clue.. help?
In advance, Thanks alot to everyone who will drop their 2 cents.
Edit: This "RUU" - Like this: "RUU_Pyramid_LE_HTC_Europe_1.73.401.2_Radio_10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2_release_215830_signed.exe 385.11 MB 2 months ago"
Is that the original ROM from the carriers? or what? geez.. this is a jungle :I

First of all, welcome to the sensation forums!!!
This device will not disappoint you :]
In these forums you'll find 100s of great developers who are willing to help you in any way they can
Now my recommendations for a rom would be the Virtuous 3.0.0 rom. This is basically a rom that is stripped out of the sense interface and replaced with a really great AOSP feel. This rom is exceedingly fast and as far as I can tell, has no bugs whatsoever. Another reason why I love this rom is because of the amount of free ram that I have...First I received my sensation and it only had 100mb ram free, with nothing open. But in this rom you get over 300mb of free ram that you can decide what to do with!!!
Good luck with your new phone.
Have a good day!
Go through the following thread. It will be worth looking.

One thing that you need to learn is to make suer you get the right ROM for your phone. You can't just download any ROm and put it on your phone. Not even a ROM that is available for your phone. It has to be a ROM that is available for your phone and the version that is made specifically for your phone.
If you are looking at CM 7.2 RC you aren't looking at Sensation ROMs.
Cyanogen never made a release candidate of version 7 for the Sensation. There is an Alpha version of it (meaning it's got bugs and not everything works right) but not a RC, or release candidate.
If you got a CM 7.2 RC and tried to put it on the Sensation it wouldn't work, and could make things very bad.
Now, when CM has a stable build it's awesome. It gives you one of teh most controllable ROM's out there, with access to just about every possible setting you can think of, plus several special features that simply aren't available on a stock ROM.
There is a CyanogenMod 9 in the works now, but there's no release date yet. The main difference is that it's based off the newest version of Android.
Since you're new, just flash gingerbread roms to start with... I know its kinda hard to browse for it because of the ICS roms... You should be able to find those gingerbread roms under the same thread with the ics...

Thanks all for the good answers. It's seems i should try to stick to gingerbread ROM's for now.
So now my question is: If you can advise any other ROM's?
Pro's?
Con's?
There are these two suggestions / Advises so far.

Again, Thanks alot for your time and help. It's very appreaciated.
I use insertcoin 3.4.4... Pretty stable and no problem... One thing, you can't forward mms, it will save it in draft and you can send it from there... I don't send mms that much anyway so it works for me...
Once you get use to flashing roms, youll be fine flashing ics roms... Just a bit difference because of the firmware ...
You're welcome... Be careful and read every detail.... Always match the md5 sum or sha1 sum for the files, if given... You'll be able to.find md5 checker a lot in the web for free

If you want CM7 (in other words, stock Android Gingerbread plus CM improvements) go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258543
If you want CM9 (stock Android Ice Cream Sandwich plus CM improvements) first read the guide to enjoying ICS the guy posted above, then go to the site RootzWiki and in the Sensation section you'll find a pretty good build of CM9.
firstly LOL at your HUUUGE banner ^^
Secondly, Why not mention Insertcoin or sense-a-maniac with android 4.0.3? I used miui for weeks then went back to sense and love it!

Why don't people advise making sure they get the right RUU before continuing? This should be rule number 1

Hello all,
I am benjamingwynn. I am currently working on a sense 3.5 ROM for the HTC Wildfire S and HTC Salsa and ran into a problem...
The kernel on the Salsa cannot or won't work on Sense 3.5 ROMS.
This is where I need a kernel dev who is looking for a small challenge to help modify the existing kernel for the salsa to run sense 3.5.
If you are looking for a real challenge then overclocking is also a possibility, but not something we need.
I have little experience with kernel development but am a fast learner as

Ain't this General
@OP, what exactly happens?
Stuck on the bootloader?
Also, are you porting a newer Android version and using an old kernel? - e.g. you had froyo, the rom you are porting is gingerbread and you are using the froyo kernel
Also, if you manage to get logcat/ dmesg - it'ld help
And post the kernel here.

Wow! Very good, but why you said "But only 2.6.35", means old, no good?
I think we'll know once some dev downloads it and tests it on an ICS ROM
It's not just a typo like.they're claiming as the file behind the link is called ace-ics-crc-2.6.35-a375925.zip. either they're fuking with us and having a laugh or it was upped by mistake and its not ready yet. Imo its more evidence that the update is in fact being worked on, however slow.
Edit: itried downloading it but the files to small to contain anything, just a few kb so its bull or been removed but if it had been removed I would have expected the whole entry to be removed rather than.just the file. On the other hand could just have been my browser playing up :S
for me the file it's 88 mb...but i don't know...there too much file in the zip file
Dropbox link
Link removed ! Sorry
Here is a downloadlink from my dropbox and it is like the starter of this post showed in his attached thumbnails.
--------------------------------------
It´s about 88,4 mb.
Feel free to download from the dropbox.
Maybe any DHD dev. can look inside the code and give us a statement about the usability of this.
Thanks

Do you mean that those kernels include the fix for the wire headset control issue?
All official ICS kernel on HTCDev are at least 95 MB in size. Kernel for Desire HD 2.6.35 is just 88 MB. (Don't know if it matters)
My wife would like to use a desire s she has lying around for a work phone..she really needs to record calls so I have offered to flash it.
She'd like to keep it as close to stock but with a 2 way patched kernel.
She is running sense 3.0 version 2.10.161.5
I've looked at some sense roms but can't see call recording mentioned.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

2WCR capabilities belong to kernel, not a rom,
1. endymion kernel- for sense 3.5
-unity kernel (as above )
2. amidabuddha kernel ( patched or tweaked branch )- for sense 3.6, 4xx, 4+
those at first come to my mind...
as for sense 3.0, you may have a look at:
Hyperion rom ( 2.10 401.5 ) and its kernel,as it matches your wife`s
phone software version,
but as for 2WCR im not quite sure if its got it
