***Disclaimer*** This only occurs if you HAVE NOT enabled Google Now when setting up for the first time.....
If you use Google Now and are getting the temperature of any City you voice search for the weather showing up in the Google Now cards in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit, this is the fix I discovered:
You must first have Google Now "ENABLED" in order for the fix to work.
1. Go to Setting in your Google Now and enable it on the top left hand corner and choose "Yes I'm In"
2. Now, go to Settings on the lower right hand corner gain.
3. Then you will get an option for "Weather" under Google Now that is not listed while Google Now is not enabled. Then go into the Weather Settings and make sure "Weather units" is set to Fahrenheit.
4. Do a search for a weather temperature for whatever city you choose to verify it shows up as Fahrenheit.
5. Now you can go back and disable Google Now if you choose to. From then on, you will get Fahrenheit to show up for weather inquires....

On the weather screen after a weather query there is a small C and F. The F should be blue, just press it.http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

I want groove ip and twitter to start on boot because sometimes i forget and groove ip is my source for voice calls.
Is there an app that will allow me to do this? I looked in the market but could only find apps that could disable apps from auto starting
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Tasker can do what you are asking just set up a profile to run on device boot.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
I got tasker but i have no idea how to set up the profile lol
No problem, to set it up open up tasker:
On main window click New 'bottom center' enter a name for the profile somwthing like' auto start'
Now from the First Context menu select 'Event'
From the Select Event Category select 'System'
Now select 'Device Boot'
Ok, now you should be at the Task Selection Dialog click 'New Task' and give it a name eg 'Apps startup' but any name will do.
From here the Task Edit window click the Plus sign at the bottom right
Click 'App'
Then 'Load App'
Give it a second for the apps to spawn and choose the app you want to auto start.
Once selected click done on the new window
Repeat the last 2 steps for all the apps you want to auto load.
Once you have selected all the apps you wanted to load on start up. Click 'Done' on all windows till you are back to the main tasker window. Hit 'Apply' and you should be all set up.
Should the icon on the top right of the main menu be a check or ban sign?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
A check mark means active the red ban sign means inactive. So make sure it's the check mark.

Hi! How to make an app be launched in the background / minimized? It there a universal parameter there to use with launching an app task? Like -m / -minimized or something like that?
Apparently HTC in their infinite wisdom decided to remove the voice search icon.
Install shortcut, then run it and it will allow you to start the voice search app using whatever method you wish. Then pull the notification bar down and create your shortcut. Dragged mine down to the dock and all is right with the world again.
Anyone notice that the voice search sucks in comparison with CB? It worked much better on my old ATRIX 2.

What do you mean install shortcut? It's not on my launcher drawer, and when I go to Google Play and search for it the "Open" and "Uninstall" buttons are missing..
any ideas?
use a root explorer app and delete it from /system/app . install new version from play store
Awesome tip, I added it to my notification toggles, perfection

How did you do that? Do you have to be rooted?

Just dug around a little, found it.
Add to homescreen --> Shortcuts --> Activities --> Voice Search --> Recognition Activity
Surely you found it by now, so this is for posterity, for other people who stumble upon this page like I did.
Great tip thank you..

I went to Shortcuts, but the first one that pops up is Bookmarks. Is there no other simple way? I can't download and install it because it's already installed...
Alternate Solution
For those who can't make the above solution work, try this: (OK, I'm not permitted to include a link because I'm a "Noob") Go to AndroidCentral and search for "Missing the Voice Search button? Here's the fix!!". It will also refer you to an app on Google Play called "QuickShortcutMaker".
Does any one know the update frequency for HTC weather widget if it is set to 'Update my location in real time'?
Is it real "real time" or just some arbitrary update frequency based on screen unlocks/min time frame or some combination? Just curious.
I would "think" it's set in Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> Weather
I know how to set it, but just curious how often does it really update the weather.

Anyone know why the time on my Samsung weather widget is an hour too fast? I've tried playing around with the date and time in both the widget and in the system settings and haven't had any luck. Any ideas?

Its an hour ahead. My system clock says 1:26 AM and that is indeed the correct time but the widget displays 2:26. It even knows that it updated itself at the right time its just displaying it wrong.

It was an ID10T error for me. I had the wrong "Central TIme Zone" selected. I mistakenly selected "Central America" and not "Central Time".
Once I corrected it, the widget was correct after refresh, which by the way, I changed to update hourly rather than manual.
Not sure if that is your issue.
Check your time zone, though if you choose the option to display weather in the lock screen it doesn't seem to update correctly. Still playing around with it though. Also, does anyone know how to change the news feed on the lock screen to something other than yahoo news?
Im having the same issue, i did set the correct time zone but its still wrong
The only thing I could guess is your location is off. It looks like it updated 2 minutes before your screenshot. Do you happen to live along a time zone line?
Try manually setting your location. Maybe by zip code if you can? Not sure if you can use zip codes.

Location is on, but I haven't tried to enter it by zip code. When I get home I'm going to try it, no I don't live close to a time zone line,
thanks for the respond

Any solution to this yet? My sisters Note 10.1 is also having this issue. She also claims the remote app's "what is playing" is also off by an hour ( I could not confirm or disprove this )

This happens to me once in a while on various Android devices. A simple restart usually clears it up.
I corrected this by changing the date on the system to the correct date (was ahead one day for some strange reason). This threw my clock off 1 hour ahead just like described in this thread.
Check system time, make sure time zones are correct - its not an "android" thing.
But the weather is not up to date, its usually off by about 30-60 mins, you can change the refresh rate if you go to settings, security, lock screen options, then click on weather - this allows you to change the unit and auto refresh rate (1 hr is the quickest it will allow though). No biggie.
Hi, had my watch a while now it's great, but as usual I'm trying to increase the battery life and one of my pet peeves is having to go to the menu, scroll to the right, then click recent apps and close apps.
Is there a widget available that I can just click and it closes all open items as I cannot seem to find anything on the app store?
Thanks in advance
Mark
No widget that I am aware of.
I have the double press home button set to recent apps. That is still pretty quick and you can close all apps from there
