Garmin Navigator App - Is Anyone of you, able to modify it, for any android OS? - General Questions and Answers

Is easy to find Garmin Navigator as a *.apk file, ready to install into any android device OS, but it works only on few devices and all the others refuse it.
I think is just question of a simple correction on the source code to make it accepted by any android OS.
have anyone of you the skills to do that? andHow to do it?
Thanks.

GPS SDK, API or open source project

Hello all!
I have a Touch Diamond for which I want to write a application that's using the internal GPS.
Does anyone know where to find an API which can be used for that.
Or if someone has an open source project that I can have a look at just to see how to read the positions of it, that would work as well.
You can download windows mobile 6 (or 5) SDK, there is sample in c# using GPSID.
But, reading data from com port also isn't hard. There is example on codeproject.
Hope that helps you...
Thanks!!
I will have a look at that. Hopefully it will be what I'm after

Can i make a WM C# program which runs a java program, or (help with google maps api)

Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone could answer this question for me.
I am creating a wm app and for part of it i want some information from googlemaps, the maps api is in java and i was thinking of ways to incorperate this into my app. Can i create a java program to get data from google and have my c# program run the java program and get info from it? I could write my program totally in java but i don't like the way i have to first start the vm and launch my program from that is there a way to automate this? also I need quite a lot of information from the phone so using c# will make getting this info easier.
or are there any other ways i might be able to get the info I want, I don't really know anything about applets but could they somehow be used?
oh btw the specific data i want is distance between to map locations (via googles route not direct)
many thanks i hope comeone can help

.cab for Android?

I know this will sound stupid, but is there a way to install WM (.cabs) on an android phone? (or port a program somehow)
Basically, nope!
Probably, same phone, same hardware, but the difference is, different operating system.
The only way to port stuff over, as yet, is to get hold of the source code and re-engineer it into the other OS. Not for the faint hearted, although it can be done.
The question to ask is, 'Is your App worth that amount of effort?'
'Where is the source code?', for starters.
If the App was written in .NET then a MONO CF for Android could be a solution. Anyone written it yet?

[Q] [HELP] Modding the STRIKE 7 Keyboard

Hello,
I am new to these forums and not sure where or if this belongs here so please feel free to correct me. I am trying to mod the Mad Catz STRIKE 7 keyboard, which has a linux based touchscreen module. I want to replace the stock UI images (ie: background, icons) with custom images. I have very little experience with linux but have experimented with Android a bit. I managed to change some of the UI elements in a widget following tutorials, but I couldn't find anything about customizing this keyboard on Google.
So far I've managed to grab the files from a firmware update and extract the tar.bz2 file to view the linux root. I also found a reference to an MX23 linux board so I think this may be using one of those. Unfortunatly I wasn't able to find any standalone image files but I did find a large 'Strike' file in usr/bin that I think may have the images embedded in it. I seem to be stuck there though and am not sure if this process is breaking any signatures that might prevent the firmware from flashing.
Would anyone with experience be willing to help me? If so, I would be willing to donate a STRIKE 7 to the first person to walk me through the entire process of replacing the stock images. The firmware installation exe is located at (As a new user I can't post links so google "madcatz downloads", first result) in the lower right corner and extracts the bz2 files to temp.
Thanks,
Chris
no one has dared to get anything done for this device.

Mad cats has totally fobbed us off by playing a waiting game.
We have managed to dig out tons of data on the chipset, drivers and software but require someone that knows the way of the coder.
hey guys.... i got this keyboard now, but i am not a developer.
i have a question too...
is ist possible for you xda guys to hack this firmware?
we got fw updates, so i am thinkig, there are all information you need to hack the lcd firmware.
i extract, one of them and seeing stuff like in android. but i am to stupid to programm or develop anything.
maybe, if the strike 7 community would buy you one of the keyboards, you would be able to do that?
or if you want, tell us your price. i know you guys can do this. here are children who are programming firmwares without having a samrtphone
and it works.
is there anybody boy who wants to earn money? or a new keyboard?
i am going on to find the backgroundpicture . maybe i could change it like my sasmung s2 system.
please if anybody can help answer us ! ! !
here is a link for the FW package. i extracted the .exe and in 2 profiles the .tar files
saw text in text docus what says something about flashing and sdk. maybe you can find some helpful...

Android monitoring via PC and reliable malware sources?

Hello,
I'm working on my thesis about malware on Android platform and need a little help.
One of my teachers told us about PC software, that can monitor an android device and show you which app is using what and some other things. I tried to google it, but all I can find was bunch of some spy apps. Does anyone know, which software could he meant? Or is it possible to do it via Android Studio?
Also does anyone know about some reliable source of malware apps? I have to test them to see what they are doing...
All suggestions are welcome. Thank you.
You won't find any named here as they are all banned.
You can do that with adb and a logcat. Both available with the android sdk.
I can't say anything about Android studio as I have no need to use it over the command line tools.
