Okay so my phone is randomly rebooting at the moment. It's happened 4 times today that my phone has suddenly just rebooted. Happened twice when I opened opera and once when I started a game and once when I got a call. This has happened after I flashed the Bricked kernel. This never happened before that. I'm using the Virtuous Inquisition rom. How can I get rid off this problem?

First. When u ask a problem question need to put down your phone information. Firmware? ROM? Kernel? S on or off? Reboots are usually user error. Need the full inforo.
I've mentioned the stuff in the post.
I'm using the Virtuous Inquisition rom on the 3.32 fw with the Bricked kernel.

Are you using 4EXT recovery? If the answer is yes then I strongly suggest you do this.
Reboot in Recovery.
Select Backup | Restore.
Select Advanced Backup.
Select Data.
Let the operation complete it's task.
Now to be safe do a Nandroid of your actual ROM also.
---
Stay in Recovery and now select Toggle USB Storage
Backup all your personal stuff like Music, Photos (DCIM folder) and the clockworkmod folder as it contain your rom backup, etc. Keep just the minimum.
---
Power down your phone.
Once done Format your µSD card with this utility.
Then Download this Wipe utility and leave it on your phone Sd card.
Download a fresh copy of your preferred rom and deposit the file at the root of your µSd card.
Reinsert your µSd card in the phone.
---
Reboot in Recovery by holding Volume down and by pressing Power.
Select Recovery.
Select Install from SD card.
Navigate to the SuperWipe utility and flash it.
Now flash the rom you want.
Set your preferred option in the installer.
Once installed reboot your phone and let it settle for 15 mins. Don't do nothing yet.
Set your preferred language and skip the rest.
Reboot the phone.
---
Now you can set the rest of your things.
Let Play store restore your apps.
Once done, reboot in Recovery.
Select Toggle USB Storage menu.
Put your prior saved personal stuff, at least the clockworkmod folder as it contain your backups.
Select Backup | Restore
Select Restore
Select Advanced Restore
Select Data
Navigate to the latest backup and confirm.
Once done, Select Tool.
Select Fix permissions | UID/GID mismatches.
Select Wipe | Format
Select Wipe Cache + Dalvik
Reboot.
---
Navigate to Superuser app
Update binary file.
Enjoy your rom.

Hi,
I have a problem as I came from another rom android 2.3.5 - sense 3.5 using 4EXT as a clockrecovery.
In order to install a ICS rom, I start to move the new XE firmware (.img) to my SD card and installed the "Optional FULL WIPE to EXT4 patch (FTP)" running with Rom Manager as a clockrecovery.
I updated the firmware on the hboot but my Sensation doesn't reboot anymore.
It stick on the "white screen htc".
Help please !!!!
Did you flash the firmware.zip file that was made? You must boot into recovery again because the firmware updates everything making everything reset in a while so just reflash again and your good to go

Hi,
Thanks for your feedback.
Yes. The firmware was updated, but when phone boot it came all the time to firmware update option as I have the new PG58IMG on the SD.
I don't have the possibility to go to the recovery again
Just take it sd card out and delete it that file by PC then u can boot in to recovery.

Hi, don't worry. It is because whenever you are holding your power+volume- button , it boots into bootloader or HBOOT mode. This mode is intended to flash firmware package . ( i.e radio, HBOOT, Splash etc ) . That is why the bootloader searches your sdcard for the firmware package( PG58IMG.zip).
When it can not find it , it waits for user input , then u select recovery and press the power button.
In fact do not keep any PG58IMG.zip file on your sdcard if you do not want to flash your firmware. If this screen annoys you , you can use QUICKBOOT app from the market. By using this app you can directly boot into recovery. Alternatively u can open a terminal on your phone and type : "reboot recovery" . It will directly boot into recovery. If you are comfortable with adb , then type from your pc in the adb terminal " adb reboot recovery"..
yes thanks but now my phone is stuck in boot loop and i s wipe it then try to reinstall ics rom and still in boot loop any suggestions ?

Now that problem sounds more like a bad flash, re-download the ROM, check MD5 sums and if they match, reflash the ROM. If the MD5 Sums dont match then try another ROM
checked came back ok with a tick so isnt that ill try to install the old gingerbread rom then upgrade.
grrrrr getting frustrated now lol
nope didnt fix it still in boot loop any fix suggestions be greatfully received im lost now as to what to do.

Are u using an ics Rom? Ics 4.0.1 has a dedicated firmware to flash. So also ics 4.0.3 has its separate one. Search for there respective firmware and flash. You will b ok.

Happy to see that you have solved your problem.
Just one request , while asking any question try to give your HBOOT and Radio version i.e the full details of your bootloader screen. This will help people to understand your problem better.
Happy androiding on sensation !!
After I boot into recovery and come 4ext touch recovery screen and tape on wipe/format and it brings up wipe/format menu,wipedata/factory reset, wipecache, wipe cache+ dalvik, wipe dalvik cache, wipe batt stats, format system, format data, format boot, format all partitions(except sd card) format sd card.which ones do I wipe before I install a new Rom.

No problem. You can also use Superwipe from ARHD ROM thread. It cleans everything for a fresh install.
problem switching ROMs
I have been running ARHD 6.6.3 and am trying to switch to OrDroid 7.1.2.
I thought all I had to do to switch would be
-boot into recovery
-run superwipe (from ARHD thread)
-install OrDroid ROM
but when I do this and reboot it just goes into bootloop.
What step for switching between ROMs am I missing?
are you using the correct firmware for the Rom? Ics based Roms use 3.32 firmware?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
In settings>about phone>software>more it says my build number is 3.32.401.5
I thought it might be this but I already tried reinstalled the latest firmware and still no luck. I was running ARHD before (obviously also a ICS ROM) which is why I don't understand why I can't get OrDroid running.
Still having problems. I ran Superwipe and installed Virtuous Inquisition 4.0.2 and that worked ok. Then I ran Superwipe and installed ARHD 6.6.3 again and that also worked. I redownloaded the mirror link for OrDroid 7.1.2 and that still didn't work even using the same process that got the other ROMs working. I also tried installing OrDroid 7.1.0 but that didn't work either.
Anyone know why other ROMs seem to be loading fine but OrDroid just gets stuck in a bootloop everytime?
Any help is much appreciated
Thanks
Before installing a new ROM, especially if the two ROMs differ in Sense version or Android version, go to Recovery, select Wipe | Format & Wipe all partitions except SD Card.
This is a fix for the bootloop issue too.
When backing up the Rom that's in your phone before installing the new one does it matter if I back it up in the back up or the advance back up.and what's the difference in the to different back ups?

Okay, my HTC Sensation does not boot at all. Even when i run the stock Firmware... It has S-OFF Revolutionary... The only ROM that works is the ViperS and that also comes along with the issue that says com.android.phone has stopped working, along with that the wifi does not work... I've tried EVERYTHING! Can anyone help me please?!
Make sure you have the correct firmware 3.32 or 3.33. Also download 4ext recovery. It's a great recovery and really easy to use.you're soff so you should after doing those things be able to place Rom at root of sd card, do wipe data factory reset, wipe cash, wipe dalvik then install from sd card and reboot. Make sure to have your nandroid backup to be safe. You shouldn't have a issue after doing these things.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
I've flashed both 3.23 and 3.33 and still no progress and also i already have that recovery..... And i never did a nandroid backup so i'm stuck!
OK try to wipe everything aside from your sdcard from recovery. Then Install the rom twice, then reboot. Also have you used the superwipe script? Some roms, mostly aosp/aokp roms are not compatible with it. Let us know

Hello experts,
Yesterday I tried to root my HTC Sensation XE! First I unlocked this device using the htcdev then u found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668276 and i followd the instructions and finished. In the HBOOT menu this device is still listed as S-ON but i downloaded the Rootchecker app and it confirms that the device is routed.
I am trying to update to the jellybean 4.1.2 using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009.
The cyogenmod bootscreen is stuck loading over 10min so i assumed that i am doing something wrong, so i restored it to the original ROM using clockworks.
If someone has any ideas please feel free to comment and remark.
Thanks =)
Use 4ext with smart flash on,
What it seems to me is with clock work it doesn't write the boot IMG. With that being said it would be stuck in a boot loop.

You're welcome!
Do you know what ROM you are going to flash?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
I had no sucsess .
let me explain the procedure.
First i am turning off my phone and remove the battery.
I boot into HBOOT by pressing the volume down and power.
Acess the recove, in which the 4ext menu appears.
I select wipe phone, and after i select delate chace and dalvik
Then i select the install from sd > chose the zip.
i select the CM10 zip and install it and after i select the gaps too.
reboot the phone.
When rebooting the phone stucks the cyanogenmod boot screen
Okay. I had this same problem you are having when I first started getting familiar with flashing ROMs.
If you correctly installed 4ext recovery, go into your settings and select "smart flash on" this will allow you to flash a ROM correctly with out having your s-off. Try that and let me know.
