Making SD card the default storage for the phone? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Is there any way to make the sd card the default storage of the phone? Like automatically everything including my apps will go there?

I'd like to know that as well. Its the whole reason I got the 16gb rather then the 32gb

I used to be able to do this on my SII with build.prop edits, but that phone also had an unlocked boot loader and I used a different kernel. I've read other people wanting to have this option on this phone, but I haven't seen anything that points that it has been done yet.

[Q] SD card gone rogue????

I have an LG G2x, rooted, running MIUI. After about a year of use, my SD card is acting up. Its almost full, but I cant edit or delete most of the files on it. Ive tried formatting it, both from the phone and on my pc. Nothing helps.
Anyone got any ideas??? Thanks in advance.
Have you tried putting out into a sdcard reader then formatting from a pc

Yeah, tried that. And using USB storage on the phone.

I had one do that too. You're out of luck, I tried everything, even removing it during a format, just to screw it up. I asked everyone I know that knows anything about computers and only one person offered any sort of possible answer was that the controller had gone bad. You're also the only other person that I've encountered that has had this happen. Ironically the card was a Sandisk, not some cheap off brand.
Dang. Well, thanks. I just need a new SD card I guess..

Can we change internal sd

Or does it have one I want to put a new SD on phone instead of using external one
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA
The internal SD cards are in a completely different physical format than micro SD cards we're all used to. The micro SDs are made for transportation/transerinf purposes. The internal SD cards are soldered onto the motherboard inside the phone. I'm sure it can be done, but there's a good possibilty that it could completely mess up your phone rendering it useless. So, I would say that it's not a good idea to do so. Especially yourself. I don't know of anyone trying to do that kind of modification.

Your phone holds an 8 GB internal SD card. A good place for info on your phone would be either the LG website or gsmarena.com.

I have rooted mine and done just about everything listed on the internet and I'm unable to get all the data as well as the apps over to the microSD slot.
I have found apps2sd type programs move everything but the Data and most my games are 200-700mb
I have even emailed Samsung over how upset I am at what they have done/Google have done to this device ( and just about every other one with ics/jelly Bean )
So Im selling mine today and I have traded up to a Playbook 64gb for £129 Brand new LOL....
And I wonder why I'm starting to hate Android OS. But at least my Xperia Play can use most my paid for Android Apps.

Do you really need that much space for games and data? And btw its not just ics and JB that prevents that!! I'm sure the reasoning no one has figured a2sd script for this device is because we have more than one gig ram. But hey if you want to go with the Playbook no one is stopping you. But I promise you didn't trade up. Your taking a loss. Have fun with it though. Heck one day you might trade "up" to a diepad.. good luck. I'm happy with my rooted tab2 running cm9/10 beautifully!!!

Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.
I still don't understand why the option in the standard form is not here, the GT-I9100 running 4.0.4 has it. Button should be just to the right of the clear data for a selected app in the Applications manager. Only reason I can think for this variation is that with the GT-I9100 you have to shutdown (remove the battery) to remove the Ext SD card while with the GT-P3113 you can remove without a shutdown. But the GT-I9100 still allows unmounting the ExtSD card so the physical variation is almost moot.
Wether or not it is a partition or a Samsung thing, I agree. It is ridicules. Some have argued that it is nothing more than a way to make more money by forcing the consumer to buy a tab with larger storage. I use directory bind and it is a good substitution but I would love a native option.
What is directory bind?

You can download an APK called APP2SD from play store

It is an app that links folders on ext to internal sd. You can store the data on the external and make the tablet think it is in the internal. Works great.

App does not work since ICS release. Apps must run off internal. There are workarounds but more hassle than they are worth.
Not sure why someone would even need this feature in this day and age. It was only invented to deal with shortage of space before cell phones caught up with the times.

Gs3 wont recognize 32gb sdcard?

Hey guys, I just recently saw when I turned my phone on, it says sd unexpectedly removed, when in fact it is in there. If I take it out and re insert it, it doesn't say anything? I would try to use this on my laptop but I know the reader on my laptop is busted (plus I'm at work). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure, I had a 32gb card myself and it started acting weird on me. Doing th e are thing, acting like it wasn't there, needed formating or some such. I switched to my old 16gb card from my droid X and it worked perfectly. I think not was just a bad card. It's possible as the prices came down and these cards got cheaper the quality control has dropped. . I might add that that was my second 32gb card The first one wouldn't even work in my laptop when i tried to format it and got so hot that it burned my fingers when took it out!
Short Story is you may have a duff card. Try an old sd card just to make sure it's not your phone.

I know it's not my phone, tried my friends card and it worked. If I insert my card in his phone it says blank sd card and when I try to format it, it says in know media state....

Sounds like a duff card. What brand of card is it?
I'd say as a last ditch attempt when you can try using a laptop and make sure it's not formated to exFAT. When mine went bad my laptop wouldn't even let me format it

I had a generic 32GB card workinf for me perfectly from day one, but recently I bought a SanDisk 64GB and I can't get my phone to recognize it (my computer does), I'm thinking it has to be in the right format, which formats will the phone recognize and which won't it?
Try it in cwm. There is a page that does give info on partition and speed somewhere on the net.
Afterward, fix permissions.

Fat32 if you intend to be a rooted user
Fat32 is the stock format OOB and will work well with all devices.
Ext4 is androids partition for apps.
