Could someone make a build prop tweak to fool the tf into thinking its a grab 10.1

You can probably just change these to what you want, although I'm not sure what it's going to trick, you have to try for yourself:
ro.build.display.id=
ro.build.version.incremental=
ro.build.version.release=
ro.product.model=
ro.product.brand=
ro.product.name=
ro.product.device=
ro.product.board=
ro.product.manufacturer=
Possibly also these, in case the aforementioned don't work:
ro.build.id=
ro.board.platform=
ro.com.google.gmsversion=
ro.com.google.clientidbase=
And maybe, if you need too:
ro.build.description=
ro.build.fingerprint=
Just change them to what you've found in the build.prop of the device mentioned.
Although if you need to run a specific app, it's probably easier (and safer) to just copy it from the device you've installed it to and install it manually on your Infinity..
What I do to get programs on other devices that I have that say "Not compatible"-
1.Do a backup in Titanium on the device that has the program working
2.Upload said backup to Box
3.On the "Not compatible" device, import backup into Titanium from Box
4.Do a restore of program backup in Titanium on device
5.Experience happiness on ALL devices
Cool thanks

Another fast and easy way (especially if you don't use Titanium backup) is to just copy the specific .apk file to your cloud service of choice and then just download said .apk from the cloud service of your choice on your TF700. Very quick and easy....

None of these methods work for nba jam.
Paid for it when i had tf300.
Bummer.

Finally some good news... O&C Online 1.03 does work on the Transformer, and you don't even need a root this time. It's just works! So go ahead, buy it from the market or from their site, or get the apk somewhere else - just know, that now this game officially works on the Transformer (well, not officially, but it works ).
******************************************
Bad news... I have a 1.02 backup, but it does not work my way anymore. Either gameloft followed us or something is wrong with my version. I'll tell if there is any change ASAP.
******************************************
Right now the 1.01 versoin is no longer working because there was a global update of the game, so right now this guide is useless. I will update this post as soon as there will be a working 1.02 version.
******************************************
If you want to play Order & Chaos from Gameloft on your Transformer (or any tegra tablet), I have a good news for you. But you MUST BE ROOTED.
Here is what you should do:
1. Delete game data, game itself and cache. Don't worry, all your characters will be there later (if you have any)
2. Download cache from here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PKUX3Y1B and put it into /gameloft/games/
3. Next download backup of the game. Since it is not allowed to post any apk here, you will have to find BACKUP of the 1.01 device-free version of the game and restore it with Titanium backup (thats why you must be rooted). To do that unpack the rar file into "Titanium backup" folder and then find Order & Chaos in TB itself and restore APP+DATA.
*Why you can't simply install apk? - becouse it will say, that your device isn't supported.
4. Enjoy!
Follow those steps and everything should work! No random FC's or problems with multitouch!
I hope it helps see you in a game
P.S. Sorry for my english

Really?
To the poster above... is this really warez? You have to purchase the game in order to have gametime to play it and also purchase gametime. Is getting a game to work on our device really a bad thing? I guess maybe I don't understand the rule breaking on this one.

This isn't warez, it's a workaround. I've legally purchased Order & Chaos on another Android device, and I'd love to be able to play it on my Transformer. Since the game doesn't officially support the Transformer yet and I'm willing to take the risk to not only root but also install a third party app that may or may not actually work, I think the judgement for this thread referenced here should be saved for the individual user, not simply labeled as warez and closed. This is a developers forum, after all, where we tend to push the boundaries of our devices. And, since the APK wasn't linked, there's really no foul here; just one geek sharing his experiences with fellow geeks.
As long as we're not circumventing that initial purchase and just providing a workaround I think could be fine. I retract that post if thats the case.

I tried this but I still get "your device is not supported please request a refund". I tool the v1.0.1 backup off my thunderbolt and retored it through TB but I dont think the cache you provided is being used. Please Help
How do I unpack the apk into TB's format? I renamed the extension to .zip from .apk and the contents of the zip look nothing like TB's files (.gz and .properties files)
Edit: Looks like installing it on my XT720 and backing it up from there, then moving the files over to the TF worked!
I got it to work just fine, you have to use the version that is for all devices. Now that it is working how do i go about paying for it so that the account i sue doesn't get banned. In the market it says its not compatible with my device so it wont even let me purchase it and its not even sold on the Gameloft site.
Can someone post a backup? Also, would this method work with Nova??

Can You Tell Me which Files you moved and to were.
Well I thought I had mine working but the Version I had was 1.0.0 All Device version and it seems to start and asks to download a 159 mb patch but after character creation i walk around for a few and then get FC. So i must need the 1.0.1 All Device version which i can not seem to find.
I can get 1.0.0 installed but, It does FC every few min. 1.0.1 installs on the xoom just fine as I confirmed today on a friends tablet and the same goes for the Iconia. For some reason we get the device not compatible error on the Transformer.

This may not help many, but I have a ipod and bought the game that way.
Setup a subscription, i could then log in to game on my TF.
I know this doesn't help those without a IOS device but it is one way to get a subscription.
I have a subscription as well through my thunderbolt but v1.0.0 will crash every few min on the transformer. V1.0.1 is stable on honeycomb but will not install on the transformer.
Guys, as I have said, you need A BACKUP of the 1.01 device free version, not an apk, not an apk renamed to zip (did I tell you to do that? ) and not a backup or apk from your phone (unless it is device free version).
Also, if you did everything right, on first start it SHOULD NOT ASK TO DOWNLOAD ANY CACHE. Not even 156 mb, as somebody mentioned here.
And if you want me to help you to deal with it, write me a PM, it's realy hard to follow your questions
After acquiring a backup copy of 1.0.1. I placed it in the TitaniumBackup folder put the cache files in the gameloft/games/ folder and have been playing without FCs. Game screen is the correct size and there are no touchscreen issues.
Thanks a ton for finding this Rik064
If only I could figure out a way to purchase this game and install it so I can then back it up with titanium!
Wow this is perfect. The game not only doesn't force close but it fits perfectly on the screen. Awesome!
can someone PLEASE pm me where i can find a device free verison, I want to gt this to work but I am having trouble locating this version. THANKS!
I just got done playing Order & Chaos on my Transformer for two hours. It worked perfectly - no FCs, no weird issues with the top of the screen being cut off, and no issues with touch inputs being off. Here are some more detailed instructions on how to get it set up:
1) If you've previously installed Order & Chaos then you'll need to delete *all* traces of it, including the installed app and the cache in /gameloft/games (delete the folder called "GloftMMHM").
2) Download the game cache in from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PKUX3Y1B . Use an app like Androzip to extract the downloaded .rar file to /gameloft/games .
3) Time to download the Titanium Backup backup of Order & Chaos 1.0.1. It's Google time. This is the hardest part of the entire process. It helps if you can read Russian as, apparently, Russian forums are much more lax in what they can publicly post. If you can't find the backup file, PM me with your email address.
4) Once you have the Titanium Backup backup, use Androzip to extract the file's contents to /TitaniumBackup .
5) Install the game. To start, open Titanium Backup. Hit Menu, then Batch. Go down to where it says "Restore all apps with data" and hit the [Run] button. Unselect all apps except Order & Chaos. Hit the [Run the batch operation] button at the top of Titanium Backup. Install finished.
6) Check the main Apps menu to make sure Order & Chaos was installed successfully. It should open right up. Enjoy!
If you open Order & Chaos and see a message that says the game is not compatible with your device then you skipped a step. Uninstall the game, then delete the cache in /gameloft/games , then try this process again.
Hey all
So i had my transformer for a while no, since the summer.
my version is 8.4.4.5.2 i never pushed an update couse i knew that eventually i will root the transformer
What kind of root methods do i have in order to root it? do i need t oupgrade the version or the stock?
my kernal version is 2.6.36.3 and it still on 3.1
and then what kind of rom should i install?
Thank you all for answering the question
Just look in the development forum and all your questions will be answered within 3 to 15 minutes.

Becoming root on most recent version is still possible with Nachoroot/Vipermod.
No reason at this moment not to update because of root.
If you have serialnumber <B70 you can always become root by using nvflash.
the thing is what i see in the development is for stock roms with version 8.6 and others
i don't find any reference for the 8.4
so i am confused for what i need to do
a
oh and my serial begin with B60
I saw the Razorclaw and Nachoroot methods. but as i mentioned they talk about 8.6 versions.
should i use the nvflash then?

NVFlash will wipe all of your data but it is fine to use other than that. otehrwise just upgrade to the .21 or .19 (not sure which) and use nachoroot
If you want to root, install CWM and install ROMs without having to connect to a PC, upgrade to the 8.6.5.19 or 8.6.6.19 (depending on if you are TF101 or TF101G respectively).
Download Razorclaw apk (google it, it comes right up)
Download RecoveryInstaller apk (can be found on this site with a quick search)
Download Titanium Backup from the market.
Download whatever ROM you wish to flash (I suggest go with Krakd or Revolver) and put that file on your external SD card in the root.
Install Razorclaw, click "Root me nao!"
MAKE A BACKUP with Titanum Backup (launch, give it superuser permission and unknown source permission, press settings key and choose 'batch', find "RUN Backup all apps + data" and run that, it will create a folder called 'titanum backup' on your TF internal, leave it there it will be fine.)
Launch "RecoveryInstaller" and click "Install Recovery"
Now you are rooted with CWM recovery, although it is an older version, once rooted and CWM'd it is easy to flash the newer recovery (called Rogue XM) and now you can flash your ROM of choice, reinstall titanium backup and run "batch"-"RUN Restore all apps + data"
IMHO, I would rather be able to flash and mod from the device itself rather than through ADB from a PC..then you have to deal with drivers, pc software, etc. and I don't know about you but my PC isn't even as fast as my TF. So using it is a 'last resort'.
I have used the method above more times than I could count. And, honestly, I think it is more user-friendly for noobs.
Hey thanks for the replies
is there any big difference between rooting through the adb or using an app?
lets assume my PC is fast enough to do all these things
I m just curiud to know that?

I'm trying to edit my build.prop to fool market making it believe tf101 is a Xoom (practically the same hardware). When I boot the system the settings for Manufacturer and some other works, but the ones for model and device doesn't work (it's ok on buiuld.prop but running getprop command returns still TF101), why?
What can i do to change there?
what kind of file editor are you using?
what kind of file editor are you using?and what is your purpose for changing build.prop? if for games just pm me..if for something else use es file explorer and click settings then check UP-TO-ROOT,ROOT EXPLORER,AND MOUNT FILE SYSTEM. so you could change variables
Yeps, its for games, specially the gameloft ones, which i have bought on market. I'm using vi as text editor, but that is not the problem. The editing/save is working fine. I can change ro.product.brand, ro.product.manufacturer just fine. The problem is, even being correctly saved on build.prop the properties ro.product.model and ro.product.device doesn't take effect on reboot. So, when i reboot, the build.prop file has all changed values i added but when i run (via adb shell) the getprop commands i get the following:
getprop ro.product.model ---> Transformer TF101 (should show Xoom)
getprop ro.product.manufacturer ----> Motorola (Ok)
Why is it happening?
is your ro.secure (I think that's what it's called, please correct me) set too 1 or 0. if it's 1 then it can cause problems with editing certain system files sticking.
If you're trying to bypass the device check for gameloft games, I posted a link for how in the themes and apps section for the TF101. Look at the order and chaos 1.1.2 thread.

Yeps, main reason is order and chaos. I can play the game on my tablet, but it doesn't run smooth. I was hoping to fool gameloft servers making it think it's a Xoom (cause we're almost the same hardware) to download the right files for Tegra. Currently I'm using the version for Milestone2 phone. I just backup the game with titanium backup on phone (app + data), restore backup on tablet, and copy downloaded content from phone sdcard to tablet internal sdcard. It works and game runs, but not smooth. My intention was to download content for xoom on this tablet, making it run smooth (hopefully). Checking your thread now. Thanks.

Great tip about editing game directly, I'm going to try that as I've done it many times before on other applications. Will post report soon
UPDATE: Doesn't seem to work on version 1.1.3 of the game. Apktool throws NullPointerException when trying to compile game back.

Change ro.secure from 1 to 0. I think also flashing a ROM or stock rooted-deodexed/modded works. I've always had 0 though since I rooted.

Not sure if you saw it later in that thread, but for version 1.1.3 you don't have to edit the apk. They took device check out, so all you need to do is pull the apk from your other device, install it, and then let the app download the files itself.
Someone else did manage to edit 1.1.3 and got it working, but I was lazy and decided to see if it works w/o editing the apk lines and it did.
Also, I personally use virtuous ten studio to edit apks. I actually waited til it was released before I started messing with stuff like that, I've never used apktool by itself.
You may have another line in /default.prop forcing ro.secure=1
If this is the case (verify with any text editor) the easiest way to solve is to flash another compatible kernel. The root filesystem "/" is the ramdisk, and is loaded from an image file at boot up, and thus any changes you make to any files in the ramdisk will just be reverted after a period of time or after a reboot.
Flashing a new kernel will essentially create a new image for the ramdisk, and the default.prop in any ramdisk with a custom kernel will definitely have ro.secure=0
Hello,
I have the 16GB version and the free space is about 1GB, and I need to take a nandroid backup.
Is there any way to directly take a nandroid backup to my PC via USB or WIFI?
Also, it would be required that the backup is TWRP compatible, so if anything goes wrong, I can restore it with no problem..
What I found is this script. I've read the code, and it seems ok..
Could any one confirm it?
Or propose a solution to this?
Thank you

I've been looking for this too, apart from android unified toolkit is there another way?
Until you find a way....obvious answer is to just transfer the file to your pc the old fashioned way. Drag and drop.
Just pointing this out...I know most would know this already. ?
So I've been using and modding android devices for quite some time now, but I'm never actually tried this so maybe someone can answer this question...
I should be receiving my new shield tablet soon (from the recall program) and I'm wondering if it would be possible for me to create a nandroid backup of my old tablet and then restore that backup on the new tablet? .... Can you transfer a nandroid backup from one device to another as long as both devices are the same make/model?
Im going to do that, actually. Theorethically, you should be able to.

That's what I was thinking... However, from what I understand, a nandroid backup is about the most complete backup you can create. It copies everything from what I understand.
If that's the case, and seeing as how you can change your serial number and imei number with certain apps (I.e. those numbers are in the software) then I wonder if you would end up with two tablets with identical serial numbers?! I could be wrong, it might not copy that info, but if it did that would NOT be good since the serial number is what nvidia uses to remotely kill your old tablet (I think)!!

I dont think so, because that type ofmdata is un another partition
Plus, the serial number must come embedded in the hardware

I think it would be better the other way around make a Nandroid copy of your new tablet and install it on old to avoid the kill switch..booomm
Ok, so flashing the TWRP nandroid backup from my old tablet onto my new tablet was NOT as easy as I thought it was going to be!
For anyone else trying this, you will notice that when you try to restore the backup (assume you had the backup on an sdcard, or copied it to the new tablet somehow), TWRP will not show any restore options! It turns out, the reason for this is that when TWRP makes a backup, it is locked to your device serial number.
To get around this, you need to rename a folder... Inside the TWRP/Backups/ there will be a folder name that is a long string of numbers/letters, THIS is the serial number of the device on which the backup was created (i.e. the old tablet). You need to rename this folder to match the serial number of your NEW tablet. The easiest way to do this is to created a small backup in TWRP from your NEW tablet, just backup the recovery partition or something small, your only doing this to create the folder name with your NEW tablet serial number. Now copy the serial number of your new tablet and use it to rename the old tablet backup folder, then load up TWRP and you should be able to flash the backup of your old tablet onto your new tablet!

No. Twrp and cwm backup do not copy those partitions of memory. I think the only reason for twrp naming folders like that is so people with microSD cards can create backs of multiple devices and the same chip and never accidentally restore the wrong backup
