Backgrounf Wallpaper not spanning! - Asus Transformer TF700

Hello,
I got my tranformer infinity a day ago, and after palying with it I tried apex launcher and go launcher, then i removed them as i didnt liked them. Then the next day i noticed my background wallpaper was not spanning left or right as I swiped left or right to different screens. Im suspecious that those custom launchers might have caused it, but others have same problem. Anyone having same issue? or had fixed theres?

The wallpaper doesnt scroll on the infinity.

REALLY? WOW.........
why they removed that feature?

Maybe because of performance, but Id say its because of the resolution. Try to set new wallwallpaper, a big area will be cutted out. Imagine that the wallpaper has to be more than twice as large if you want it to scroll. I am currently using >4096x3072 wallpapers for the best image quality, and have problems finding good ones. Scrollable would be 8000x3000.

Does live wall paper affect performance other than making scrolling not as smooth?

I was playing yesterday with some normal wallpapers instead of my normal live ones and noticed that when I do not use a Live Wallpaper and I go to my huge list of applications, the scrolling if amazingly smooth but when I have a Live wallpaper it is a bit choppy for my taste.
Anyone else noticed this?
My Quadrant and Neocore scores do not change though.
My biggest complain with Live Wallpapper is the excessive battery usage. It seems the live wallpaper will be active whenever screen is on, even if the an application is running and the wall paper is invisibile.
I thought that too but the fact that I still get the same scores with benchmarks seems to indicate it does not affect apps but only the main interface or something.
Did you notice different scrolling smoothness?

This is NOT true. The live wallpaper is not active while an app is in the foreground. A way to see this is to run System or a task manager and look at the CPU of the live wallpaper when you're in the task manager...0%

I beg to differ. I've run a 1-hour GPS navigation on the phone. Afterwards, I checked the battery usage chart, the live wall paper is second highest on the list of battery hogs, right behind the screen display. I never linger on home screen for more that a few seconds. So, it is either the Live wall paper use battery extremly fast in that a few seconds, or it is active and suck battery juice while sitting in the background.
Ok and can either of you confirm my smooth scrolling question? lol

Which live wallpaper are you using? If it's a 3rd party from market maybe it's not working properly. If you use any of the ones that come with the phone out of the box, you won't have this issue.
I don't use any 3rd party ones. The m moving water is the one I used.

That is all nice but can someone do a very quick test to confirm the main question...if your apps scroll choppier ? That is using Launcher Pro +

Strange, my LP (stock or 3rd party) has never been more than 2-3% battery usage.

I switched from live wallpapers recently, icons don't seem to be extremely choppy, the screen catches a bit of lag when I swiped it back and forth though. When I changed to a still background I didn't catch any lag. It effects it a little but not enough to not use the live wallpapers because of it. I don't use live wallpapers because of battery usage

I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT change in performance after choosing a static wallpaper! Swiping different home screens and opening up the app drawer is buttery smooth with launcher pro. I concur with your assertion shaolin

Thanks mate...yeah is annoying because i know the phone is not really struggling to do the wallpaper as no matter how simple or complicated the live wallpaper is, the not so smooth scrolling issue remains the same at least to my eyes.
I just went with a static one for now since I like the super smooth response time

Like I mentioned, you have to leave screen on for a long time, like doing a navigation. 2~3% is still big percentage of battery usage for the little time it is on (when you doing nothing but leave it on home screen).
i have mario live wall paper running all the time, or if not the VR tunnel one, and the phone runs very smoothly, no lag
stock JH2, no fix of any kind

Please note that this is not a matter of not been smooth is a matter of not being as smooth when scrolling with Launcher Pro at least.
I did not notice it was not as smooth until I tried a non live wallpaper myself.
It is kind of what happens with that Asphalt game...most people feel it is very smooth with the latest 3.1.8 version until they try 3.1.3 which was the last one that did hardware accelaration then they notice how much smoother it can really be.
I did notice the difference and it was very annoying.
Live wallpaper would actually freeze on some 3rd party wallpapers until I did the 1 click fix and ever since then I have zero issues.
It's like a different phone.
Static wallpapers give me much, much smoother desktop performance when swiping around the screens. The other big reason that I got rid of live wallpapers is because I use Weather & Toggle Widget, and with the live wallpaper running the weather animations are super choppy and laggy. The cloud animations especially are not all that smooth to begin with, so the live wallpaper just seems to make it worse.

ADW EX

This works fantastic, disabled the dock and currently running 10 rows 7 columns
Asus weather widget looks standard size.
The bookmarks widget looks fantastic the larger use make it, you just get more on the screen.
Totally awesome IMO well worth the money.

1.3 and above is what you're looking for. Previous versions doesn't have support for high density screens so the 5 icon dock will be squished in the center, 1.3 addresses this.
I've tryed all the transition animations and *curve* is the best non lag one out of the bunch. No matter how many widgets it just wont slow the butter smooth scrolling.

Big pro's for me:
supports scrollable widgets
supports resizable widgets
Adjustable collumns and rows, currently running 9 x 7
more screens currently have 6
It scrolls fantastic, 100 times better than stock
3D transition affects
If the icon at the top left is bugging you? ask the developer! contacted them about various issues over the months and they always reply.
i installed adw ex 1.3.2 but cannot set it as default launcher. After installation when i hit the home icon there is no popup to let me choose launcher seems like it is not registered as a launcher..... i am not rooted......firmware is .13..... do i need to root to replace the stock launcher?
Experts please advise.

I assume you just go to settings > manage applications, then find launcher and press clear defaults, then press home and it should ask you.

Don't think its possible to just get rid of it. It looks like honeycomb places the app icon on the corner for some apps. The only way I can think of is to unpack the apk, put in a transparent icon, or change how it looks. Either way you do it though will reflect in the drawer also. Since this is a launcher though and it auto launches it might not matter that it will be an invisible icon. If it bothered me enough then I could just hide the app i guess.

[Q] ADW EX - Wallpaper shifting
Does anyone know how to stop the wallpaper from shifting? It seems to happen after turning off the screen or coming out of an app. It's driving me up the wall. I even downloaded some 2560x1600 wallpapers that people suggested to use and it still happens.
And on a side note selecting the option for the wallpaper to scroll doesn't do anything (in ADWsettings).
I love the ability to resize widgets but this wallpaper problem is making me go crazy

Not sure if that's related but when I installed GoLauncher my wallpaper also shifted. Even after uninstall and reboot it was still messed up. I had to select a different wallpaper and then select the old one again; then it was fixed. It seems that the 3rd party launcher don't work well with HC yet.
i found that if i turn off locking the screen orientation (i rarely ever use portrait mode) and changing the orientation the background resets itself. but it is still rather annoying having to tilt it portrait and tilt it back.
no one else has this problem?
The same thing happened to me when I tried to use "Wallpaper Wizardrii"...until I uninstalled, then switched wallpaper...I'd get the weird shift after every reorientation....like the wp was resizing each time.
I was having major issues with wallpapers in adw ex, ended up using multi wallpaper live wallpaper to solve this, it can show a single image or a slide show.
I think the adw dev just got a honeycomb tablet so hopefully it will be fixed.

That not the right size dimensions so it won't work if you want something that big try 2560x2035 or smaller 1610x1280
All my installed wallpapers are the latter and i never have any issues.
I just started using ADW EX, and whenever I try to resize any widgets, the screen seems to freeze. That is, I can still resize the widge, but I can't deselect it, or select anything else on the screen -- including app icons, which stop functioning. I have to kill the app and relaunch to get it to respond again.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
ADW is certainly feature-rich, but it is crying for some documentation, which I can't seem to find.

Remove Multiple homescreens???

I have Team Eos 2.0 installed on my Xoom and i want to remove multiple homescreens cause 1 is enough for me,is there any tweak or any way to do that?
I also would like to add this wallpaper:
http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2010/191/5/5/iPhone_Raindrops_for_Mac_by_PrincessCakeNikki.jpg
as defaul without cropping it, because when im trying to put it i have to always crop it first so it fits in landscape and portrait mode and it screws all the quality of the wallpaper, any suggestions?
I don't think 7he ROM itself is set up for custom home screen counts. But you can download a replacement launcher like Nova Launcher or Apex Launcher. Those are ICS ready and are favored by many. Both are free. Give em a spin

I was wondering the same thing you were, so I took Legatos suggestion and installed nova launcher to see what it does and it took care of the multiple homescreens and other little things.... but i kept having problems with my wallpapers resolution which always have from the start, like you. Try multi picture live wallpaper app. I really like the results. I tried it on the wallpapaer you provided, and considering it isn't optimized for xoom, i think it is turning out pretty good.... hope this helps you, it has me.
id also recommend multi picture live wallpaper, does the job nicely plus its free

[Q] Use all screen areas

HI,
I had a Tab 2 10.1 for a day but it had to go back for a replacement, hopefully I'll get it in the next couple of days.
Anyway, I noticed that there seems to be a dead area around the edges of the screen where you can't put icons, is it possible to use all the screen for icons?
Cheers.

You are probably referring to the stock Samsung TouchWiz launcher.
With that launcher snippets and icons are forced to tay somewhat in the middle of the screen.
Try installing alternative launchers, Nova or Apex both allow to place items near the edges. In addition, you will be able to change the density of rows/colums and to suppress icon descriptions.
In paid versions you also will be able to make apps drawer sub-folders. Both of them offer a better arrangement of items when the device is turned in landscape mode.
Thanks for the information, it's obvious when I think about it, I use GO launcher EX on my S2.
Cheers
I you like go launcher ex then you could try go launcher hd in the tablet

Couple of questions from a new tf700 owner

So I just picked up a Tf700 a couple days ago and for the most part, its been a welcome upgrade to my old TF101. However, some things just don't seem to be working right..
Wallpaper: I came across the apex wallpaper issue on my searches, I'm sure everyone's run into that. My stock ICS launcher crops the wallaper correctly, but it doesn't scroll. Have either of these issues been alleviated by roms or workarounds? Am I just missing a setting?
Sorry if this has been answered
Sent from my SGH-I927
Huh? What Apex wallpaper issue? Apex is actually the only one that places my scrollable wallpaper the way I want it...
*One remarkably brief Google search later* Try Image2wallpaper. (app in Google Play, it's free)
I use Simple Image Wallpaper -- same idea.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ridgelineapps.simpleimagewallpaper
It does not scroll, however. Nova works for me, but I do not like scrolling wallpapers.

Thanks. Simple image wallpaper did the trick. I had tried image2wallpaper and other similar apps, but they remarkably did not work.
