Welcome! OTA Update Center is an Over The Air update service, that is free of use. This project is especially for the rom devs around, to be able to implement an easy to use, and free OTA Update app. The project has one goal, to provide a way to provide OTA Updates as easy and noob friendly as possible.
How does it work?
We provide a server backend and an updater app. Devs just have to register, make an entry of their ROM, add a few lines on their build.prop, provide a direct-link to the download and optionally a changelog. The rest is done by our service. Users will automatically be informed for any updates and installation is automated
Features
Add and remove OTA Updates in a centralised database.
Check for updates on boot of devices.
Check for updates manually when the person wants to.
Download the rom and flash it directly.
Download the rom without flashing.
Wipe data and or cache/dalvik before flashing the update.
Its free to use!
Cool! I would love to see this implimented

You're a grammar nazi, so I thought you would enjoy the humor.
This is a great idea. The potential storage and bandwidth these guys could need is insane.

Hello G2x community, I am putting the final touches on my AOSP Like G2x ROM. 40% of the system apps were built from 100% AOSP Source Code but the general framework is ALL CM7. And of course my Carbonite touch. I only did this project to see if I could compile a ROM from source [CM7 AND AOSP SOURCE] And my carbonite touch. What is carbonite? Its several tweaks and mods to the framework to increase battery life and overall performance. I also included a data connectivity fix that has plagued cm7 from the start. I will release a FULL changelog once the rom is complete. JUST BE WARNED....THIS IS A BLIND BUILD...WHAT IS A BLIND BUILD YOU ASK? ITS WHEN A DEV DOESNT HAVE A PHONE TO TEST HIS ROM OR KERNEL ON. Rest assured I am going through this rom with a fine tooth comb. If you want to be a rom tester please PM me with your email address. I will send u a link to download. I hope to develop for the G2x for a while. If you have any questions please ask me. KEEP ALL NEGATIVITY OUT OF MY THREAD. PM me with your negativity please so I can ATTEMPT to resolve it.

Getting unknown baseband therefore no cell signal.
Did a full wipe before and after.
I'm not really seeing any reason why the baseband is showing unknown as this is based off of CM7.

I wanted to flash the ROM on my captivate to some of the selections in the download section. But its not really user friendly for me. Was wanting some tips on how to use it. YouTube didn't provide much also.

ROMManager doesn't have much of a selection for us captivate users
But you have to purchase the premium version to see the downloads and the only ROM available is CM7. If you do decide to get CM7... make sure you go to that thread and double check directions.. instructions for ROMManager installation are in the OP.

It's still nice to have, to flash a recovery or manage your backups..or make a backup. ROM Manager is still a great app, but you need the premium version for the CM7 updates and such. From what i hear, other phones actually have more roms to download and stuff. Just not the captivate. Lame sauce I know..

the rom makers here just havent gone to hosting on Rom manager its not that big of a deal. Its not at all necessary unless you want to keep downloading and flashing CWM through there, which you can find in the android dev section.
I just received a notification of a system update available today (Oct 20, 2011).
A SYSTEM UPDATE IS AVAILABLE
.....This new software contains an important security update. HTC strongly urges you to immediately download and install the update.
-System upgrade 1.28.531.10 (5.44 MB) we would recommend using a free wi-fi hotsp..........

Undead already has a patch for this. You can use his I don't think it messes with root as I have his rom. And freeze the updater using titanium backup.
That's what I did.

...and there is the primary reason to root your phone above all else.
How long has the patch been out that undeadk9 whipped up when the vulnerability was exposed?
How long did it take for HTC to figure out a way of patching it, run it through their departments and test it out...
Undeadk9 found out about the problem when someone else posted it here. The very next thing he did was sit down and hammer out the fix into a flashable zip for the rest of us. (Thanks again for caring, btw!)
Nevermind the fact that you should be able to do whatever you can make your device (yea, the one you paid for) do, but being at the mercy of some titan company to grind an update through all it's gears... no thanks.

I searched and there seems to only be threads in the T-mobile section for the S3, or other phones (sorry if I missed one).
So normally when an OTA gets pushed out, we get a notification and have to accept the download correct? Well my last OTA to JB was downloaded and installed overnight while I was sleeping (never touched my phone). So I woke up and had JB installed.
At the time it didnt matter too much because I was bone stock, but it still irritated me, because what if I wasnt stock. Now Im rooted/ROM'd and dont want anything like that happening again.
So is there a way to block the OTA for a Vz GS3?
I see this app here in the play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitrifle.otablocker&hl=en
but there are only 25 total reviews so im not sure how much faith I would really want to put in that.

OK three things if you upgrade to supersu pro you can go into survivor mode which will look to protect root at all costs. Secondly you could disable automatic updates in settings. And lastly there is an App now called voodoo ota rootkeeper which will allow you to back up your root and then you will be able to temporary un root take the ota and then restore root but bear in mind if you read the descriptions on the recently released roms they are set up to block ota update pushes
Let me know how you make out

Bold emphasis is mine. To delve into this a little further, the exact file that is removed by devs is called "sdm 1.0" which is a system app. If you use Titanium Backup (or really any file explorer) you can freeze or remove that file. Plenty of folks started doing this during one of our previous OTA's. Also, if the OTA installs but fails (usually because you have a custom recovery) you need to do the above step AND also go to /cache folder and delete the OTA from that directory. Here's an example.
As an fyi, doing this will result in your "Check for updates" option in Settings/ to force close but that is intentional.
Emphasis was unintentional as you can tell I am super new to all things development related see now I learned something new again thanks for the heads up brother and again did not mean to highlight any portion of text

Thanks guys. Im currently running the latest (4.1.2) milestone ROM from AOKP, so im really not sure if they bake blocking the OTA into their ROMs or not.
I do have MyBackUpPro and can freeze system aap, so ill hop in and see if I can find sdm. Im not expecting another OTA for a while, but I just really do not want it to auto install like it did previously.

Guess AOKP doesnt include the sdm 1.0 application. So im guessing it will not/can not auto update when they are pushed from Vz
Hey Guys,
This is a little project I've been working on over the summer holidays,
When i started it 4 weeks ago i still had a Desire HD but then i ended up withotu a phone running jellybean for a few weeks so i'm finally picking it up again
Basically @TheRinseM asked me to make a CM10.1 rom with HALO, but since then I decided that not only HALO would be included but other features too that I liked - I find PACMan a bit too heavy on a devices power, and each rom has its own features I like so I've started a project of finding the features I like and building them into the one ROM so i basically have my perfect ROM
For now the only builds I've done have been 4.2.2, but I'm currently upgrading it too 4.3 so bear with me while I edit all the stuff i need
Changelog, Downloads, Bugs list and screenshots to follow...
Changelog, Bugs and Download
Changelog
V1
-Moved project to new github
-Re wrote manifest for Desire removing all Desire HD stuff
-New bootanimation, thanks to PartimusPrime for that
-Synced with latest CM10.1 sources
-Its an ALPHA so don't get your hopes up too much :/ its slower than I'd like but hey...
Bugs List-Its quite BIG (230mb without gapps, so you need the 250mb hboot and slim gapps - I'm currently rewriting some of the make files so it doesn't import all of the live wallpapers and other useless apps, should thin it down a bit
-SystemUI FC's at bootup
-If you do ANY form of reboot it bootloops - not sure why, thinking it could be the lack of cache (5mb might not be enough) will test moving it with a2sd and see if that helps
Credits+Csytracy for the modified Evervolv device config for CM
+LaidbackNikez for the Kernel
+PartimusPrime for the bootanimation
+TheRinseM for starting me off on this project where i have learnt so much
+CyanogenMod for the base for the ROM
+AlphaRev for their custom hboots
AlphaRev's 250mb HBOOT, having the 40mb cache may solve the bootloop problem, not tried it yet though, will do that in a few minutes: HERE
And the Slim Gapps HERE
Source CodeAs with all source built Android ROMs it is Open Source and the source code is avaliable on Github Its a bit of a mess while I'm updating it but it will be cleaned up when ready, feel free to build it yourself for Desire (Or any other device)
Downloads
V1 :: Download is here :: MD5 SUM
Sorry no mirrors yet, I will mirror it onto XDA File Server once I get it updated to 4.3
Screenshots
Screenshots will go here when I get them off my SD Card, but just imagine basically what CM10.1 looks like and that it at the moment
Will get around to doing some recolouring and theming

No K3 yet, although I know the sourcecode KS avaliable I'm not incorporating it into the rom until Nikez has released a download of it, don't ask me to explain why, it just isn't the sort of thing I'd do
However it is the ION kernel (I picked the branch that had ion commits so I hope it is lol) so camera is as in anyother rom using jellybean evervolv kernel
