hi im using scv7 rom and i came across droid bootanimation on the atrix 4g forum , ive installed it , actually it cames with an .ogg file called droid.ogg , somewhere i readed that the .ogg need to be in /system/media/notifications to have sound enabled , i placed it there but no sound at all , i was wondering if theres any other location the .ogg file needs to be placed for this to work on ics based roms or rename it to whatever it needs to be renamed
btw the bootanimation works like a charm , the sound is the only issue also desc.txt file looks just like theese one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420991
thanks
XD yes i know wrong sub-forum i just realized that , dont need of pointing out , sry
Place it in the same location as the bootanimation.
Motorola lied and I'm still locked mb865

make sure you edit it with notepad++ or similar, and leave a blank line at the end.. but, I think it looks okay..?
Also, make your bootanimation.zip with no compression (store mode).
Since we're on the subject. Anyone found a good boot animation? That fits our screen well. All the ones i get are shrunk and look weird.
Heck i actually soft bricked Tonight using one. Boot menu backup to the rescue!

I dont think its a compression issue , if it was the case, then the bootanimation woudlnt even start

Yea, I doubt compression is the issue also, was just stating that as a themeing fact... but a couple things I thought of:
First, see this one taken directly from the RAZR on stock ICS (maybe get an idea or just to compare):
Code:
# droid
p 1 7 01_droid
# mobility
p 1 0 02_mobility
s droidhd.ogg
# loop
p 0 0 03_loop
Also, there are these lines in the framework-res.apk /res/values/bools.xml:
Code:
<bool name="config_poweron_sound">false</bool>
<bool name="config_mute_poweron_sound">true</bool>
Maybe those need to be switched? I highly doubt it though because that was also taken from the razr framework, and the sound works there...
Triple check all your file names and spaces in your text file - maybe the sound file size has restrictions? maybe permissions? - i'm just throwing stuff out there now... good luck man..

Ok. Just attach the file to your post. Try to include the name, such as Cleardroid rom or Android Revolution, etc. It can make a difference sometimes as to where the boot animation is supposed to go.

After you put it in the correct folder did you make sure you set the correct permissions? I did this and it took me a while to figure that out. You have to have every box checked except for the three on the bottom, I forget what they say. If that doesn't work I'm not sure.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium App
here you go the file it is suppose to go in is /system/customize/resource/ because it is a att sense stock rooted rom.
and what are the permission setting and how do i set them.
I just took a look at your file and I found your problems. I will redo your text file and check if it will work with the current image frames which I don't think it will. I will let you know after I test it.
Ok, try this first. Use this naming method for all of your files. An example would be "bootanim_480x800_00000", "bootanim_480x800_00001", and so on. Always start with 00000 and it goes up from there and the second folder would continue where the first one left off. The first part is not important as to what name you use. It could be "bootanim" or "Joe" or whatever. The other parts are important. Leave them as they are except of course the numbers for the frames are changing just like you have now. The second problem is that you are trying to run this at 7 fps and the phone does not know how to read that. It likes 15fps, 24fps, and 30fps. You are going to have to add more frames to your animation because it will be too fast as is. Easiest way without creating new images would be to double the sets and add one extra so that you can come out with 15 frames per second. Also just to make sure, when you add this to a zip file named ATT_bootanimation, make sure you are not using any compression. Use a program such as 7_zip and when you make this into a zip file set the compression to "Store". I have rezipped your file and included a new text document already inside of the zip file and as an extra. You should just need to rename and create more frames now. (As far as what myphoneisbroken was referring to, I am not sure. He may have meant to make sure to use a program such as Root Explorer which would have root access to write to system folders. If that is not what he meant then he would have to elaborate a little more.)
Ok ill rename them all and how many frames do you. suggest I make
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Well that depends on how smooth you want it to play. It will take a bit of experimentation on your part. If you go for 15fps to keep the image count down then you are just going to have to check your timing. If your animation played out smoothly before, just remember you have two seconds of animation as it stands right now before you get to the boot loop. You may want to do at least 3 to 4 or even more seconds depending on how fast it plays through. Just watch the total size of the file so that it does not grow too large. Even the smoothest animation may not always play out on the phone perfectly because the phone is loading stuff and sometimes causes it to stutter. The easy way would be to simply double each of your images, but again, you have to experiment and see what looks the best. You may have to create the inbetweens.
Ok I renamed the pictures to what you said iput it in the boot folder and when it boots up it skips folder part0 and goes looping part1
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Something has to be wrong with a part of the name or something in the first folder if it is only showing the second part. The text document is correct and was tested. If it was incorrect you would have a black screen again. Re post your file and I will look at it again.
yeah sorry but here you go and thanks ( i also hit the button)
I got the revised file and I am going through it now.
Edit: You are correct. Only the second part is playing even though everything looks correct in the first folder. I am going through each image to see if I can find the problem.
Edit # 2: I believe I found the problem. I am re doing your images and will test to make sure it works. I will let you know what the outcome is in a while.
Ok thanks can you please give a description of what it is your doing so I don't have any problems next time I make a bootanimation, and sorry for not pressing the thanks button as you can probably tell I'm doing this on my phone most of the time and I can't find the thanks button on here (if there is one)
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I understand, it was just a hint for the future. As far as the images go, the first folder was not in the correct RGB color mode, (second folder was) so I am re doing them now and I will test when I finish with them to make sure it works.
It works. Attached is your boot animation. Enjoy. (I re saved all of the images in the correct format just to make sure they were all good. Everything should be fine now.) Out of curiosity, what program did you use to make these? Was it Photoshop, paint, or something else?
Thanks for the help ill hit the button when I get on a computer and the program I used for the pictures was paint.net I'm to young to buy PhotoShop
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
That's fine. I am happy I was able to help you get it working. I asked about the program because I only use PS and other programs like it so I was guessing that something had gone wrong and that it was probably with a program like Paint. Everything comes with time. Keep working at it. It plays out fast because there is only two seconds of animation there. An easy thing you could do which would be a little bit of a pain is to make copies of each image so that there are doubles and then re number all of them. It would play out a bit slower then. Good luck.
Hey everyone, I took some time today to change the default boot animation and sound; here are the results:

Instructions can be found at the links under the video. As always, all credit is to those who have made the animation and provided the sound clip!
On a side note: Does anyone know how to change the shutdown animation? I've tried guides online which tell you to change the system/media/video/shutdown files, but that directory (starting from /video) doesn't even exist on the G2X!

Ok.. So where the heck is the PowerOff.apk located at? I've searched all over in RE and can't find it..
Also, why don't we just make APKs of boot animation/shutdowns and sounds to go along with them? I mean it seems like it should be easy. Maybe that's just my ignorance of some Android "thing".
Oh there it is, .system/app/PowerOff.apk - went cross-eyed looking at them all.
hmm, when I look in the poweroff.apk I find only like 10 images for the shutdown animation. and it has both a MP3 and a OGG shutdown sound, both the same. It also has a LG shutdown image set AND a verizon shutdown image set. Amusing stuff. So I cant modify this file and then just save it and it work right? It has to be signed or some such? and what controls how long it runs, the layout XML file?
Ok, Wel I answered my on question on the first part, but not sure about the layout XML file and what it does. I just renamed the LG animation files to what the T-mo files were named and poof, it worked. I made a backup of the file OFC. I can't seem to make it go beyond those file names of PowerOff_000.png - PowerOff_0010.png. It always cuts off there.
I'd love to see a Big Bang Theory boot animation with sound
So would i. But I'm not sure of the legal ramifications (copyrighted song and copyrighted tv show). Not sure if its possible, but let those more learned than i speak.
did some digging and found this file
xxx.megaupload.com/?d=7K6G40ZR
however i can't seem to get it to play on my phone. i changed the resolution in the desc.txt to 480 800 but i just get a black screen. anyway here are the files hopefully someone can make it work
I'll take this on tomorrow. No guarantees...but I usually don't stop til I get what I'm after
Looking at the one you provided - all the images are .jpg. I haven't done a boot animation in a while but if I recall they need to be .png, and have the naming scheme fast_boot_p_xx.png (where xx is a 2 digit number starting with 00 - in sequence). Like I said - I'll mess with it tomorrow...sleep is too precious to me. Besides, it's my birthday and I haven't even started drinking yet...
For the audio file and theand animation, rename them to bootanimation.zip and android_audio.mp3 before doing anything else. Put the audio file in the same folder as your bootanimation. Make sure both have permissions set to RW R R .Here's the animation...working on my phone. Let me know if there's anything you'd change. Working on the audio now

For future reference, you could try mplayer/mencoder. It would save quite a few steps. I also use imagemagick's `convert' utility for batch image manipulation. Both of these have windows ports, but I haven't tried them on windows, only linux.

Hi CoopZor
Do refer to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474987
for more info. Basically rw-r-r means Owner "Read, Write" Group "Read" and Other "Read". You have to tap on R/W before changing the setting.
Installed vertical version works and looks great! Thanks!

To make it loop, edit desc.txt inside the zip file. Originally, the second line looks like this:
p 1 0 part1
Change it to:
p 0 0 part1
Make sure you don't compress the new zip file. To do this, you can extract the files in a folder (retain the structure) and rezip it after editing desc.txt. Tick "storage/uncompressed" or a similar option when rezipping the files into bootanimation.zip.
P.S.
Mine ends with the last frame, not a black one, before the lock screen.

Mine too, except when I clear Dalvik. Then the reboot takes about 3-4 times as long and there is a long blank screen (resembling the SoD). If something is flashing before my eyes, I will know my Note is running! DUH!!!!!!!!

Edit Made the change to the desc.txt and inserted it back in the bootanimation.zip file. Verified the change was there. Rebooted and no loop. Checked the desc.txt file and the file was back to the original.??????? I made the changes all within Root Explorer. I had everything set to R/W.
Any suggestions to get this to work?

Hey i been trying for a while to get googles stock ICS lockscreen on my rom im making.
So i tried to just rename the lg lockscreen with a .bak at the end (to just basicaly disable it) and i do get the ICS lock screen.
But i get a grey area at the bottom of my screen plus it has no background its just what i was on before i locked it.
Then i can also press the home key and it unlocks my phone so its pretty useless.
Does anyone know if there is an APK that i can overwrite my current lg lock screen with? Or a way to get the way i tried to work properly?
Thanks

For example (if i remember well) some of the apps that weren't anymore available for me was dolphin browser, ulleese speedometer and a few others... dont remember most of them because i havent played with dpi for more than a year.
You will get a message from playstore telling you that the application is not available for your device (although it normally is).
Sorry about the long time to reply but here is the screenshot with the grey bar.

I would recommend against editing the dpi. For one, it breaks the Android CTS requirements ("Device implementations MUST use only displays with a single static configuration. That is, device implementations MUST NOT enable multiple screen configurations. For instance, since a typical television supports multiple resolutions such as 1080p, 720p, and so on, this configuration is not compatible with Android 2.3"), and furthermore as others have said it makes a bunch of apps from Google Play vanish.
Emmm lol what was the default DPI again I forgot
