[FIX][CWM ZIP] Youtube/Video hot reboot fix for qsd8k devices [4.1.1][EV based JB] - EVO 4G Android Development

Hi there,
I've created a (temporarily) fix for the Evervolv based Jellybean hot reboot problem we have when playing video/youtube for the HD2.
Since we use and share a lot of stuff from the great work of texasice and the rest of the evervolv team this will probably work on other qsd8k devices who suffer from the same issue as well (no guarantees)
I thought it would be nice to give something back to the community untill this is fixed by the dev team..
Download evjb_qsd8k_mediafix.zip - mirror (flash via recovery)
Try it and see if it works and Remember that all the flashing is at your own risk ! Always make a nand backup in recovery
Source: I am not a dev and I just like to experiment with libs from different devices so have not compiled this fix from source.
Instead I've taken these libs from the jellybean msm7x30 platform (Desire HD) and replaced them with ours. (dirty hack so to speak)
The good news is that they have sources so you will have to look there since they seem to be a bit ahead with development compared to our qsd8k platform...
I hope this information will help the real devs making a 'proper' fix.

Hmm.. that's strange.. It is confirmed working on nexus one, desire, incredible and hd2.

Could it have something to do with where our jelly bean tons have been ported from?

Think this can possibly work on [ROM] [Team D.I.R.T] [Jelly Bean] UNOFFICIAL Codename Android 3.3.1? My Youtube videos play but has like a flashy/choppy playback to it.

[ROM][ICS] Unofficial CM9 Alpha - Ice Cream Sandwich

Description and Disclaimer:
This is an Alpha version of CM9 (Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4).
There is very very limited support for this as we are currently working towards Jellybean here
Myself and anyone else working on the unofficial CyanogenMod ports will not be able to promise that this won't make your phone explode into puppies, unicorns and rainbows.....or a violent fireball. You are accepting this risk by continuing forth.
Working:
Multitouch *NEW*
USB Tethering *NEW*
Bluetooth
Notification LED
Wifi Hotspot
Auto-Brightness
Voice / Data
SMS/MMS
Audio
WiFi
NFC / Android Beam
App Switch button = Menu
Auto-Rotation
Proximity sensor
Camera (Still shots and Zero Shutter Lag)
Video Camera (works about 85-90% of the time. The other 10-15% you get a garbled video output)
Not working:
Video Camera is flaky.
Panorama Camera images.
Installation Instructions:
Download the latest CM9 .zip file from here.
Download ICS Google Apps from here.
Reboot into CWM or TWRP recovery.
Factory Data reset. (MUST DO THIS if coming from a non-CM9 rom!)
Flash CM9 .zip file.
Reboot.
Reboot into recovery.
Flash ICS Google apps.
Enjoy!

Wooh! I've been waiting for this. Just donated; thanks so much.
Edit: Flash went wonderfully. Thanks again.
Sweet, will serve me well until the camera gets working in CM10
Any new commits from CM9?
Just curious does this have the extra ram that came along with htc 4.0.4 update? Just curious.

Awesome! My daily driver until CM10 has a working camera. Thank you!
Question though, is there any way to change the nav bar buttons to be normal for recents and then long press recent for menu? I'm not a fan of current set up. If not I'll just wait for CM10.

Anyone tested beast mode kernel with this yet?

I'm getting way better battery life with this than cm10. Getting close to 14 hours with careful controlling of wake locks and unnecessary features.
Is video camera something achievable in the foreseeable future? Or shod I just give up on cm9 and wait for cm10?

No it wont, causes boot loops, plus all the fixes are fixed in the kernel trying to get back from recovery/rom boot loops.
Edit: In case someone else tries this in the future.
Just download the rom if not on computer already
Extract the boot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
then boot into recovery
wipe cache/dalvik
reflash cm9
Download not working.
Downloading fine for me.
Can i get away with flashing this over the last cm9 build, or has there been enough changes that i need to wipe?
Thanks for pushing out 1 more build H8!
Thanks so much for the build. I have a question though. What is the process of getting the One X adopted as a device with "official" builds?
IS our userbase too small? I've never fully understood how all of that works.

It is my understanding from the CM10 thread that CM9 won't be made official because, as-of the release of JB, the official CM team has moved toward supporting CM10 only.
As for CM10, the devs can work toward making our build official once it is mostly working. At least, that's my understanding of the situation.
So they got official cm9 to rc status and dropped it?
FWIW, we are still working on merging cm9 up. Our focus is getting JB done though.
Got nothing to do with user base .

Well it looks like there are a few bugs....no super user and auto rotate is wierd apps force landscape mode but if you open the keyboard you can go to portrait if you flip the phone. I will see what I can do but if anyone knows a fix for these issues let me know
Haven't flashed the ROM yet but last I recall, Miui has its own version of Superuser to manage root access to apps. Are your apps not able to gain root access if required?
Correct. I think I have found fixes for these errors and I will try to release it today. The superuser fix seems pretty easy but the autorotate issue is a little more difficult. I need to decompile the android.policy.jar but I'm having trouble with it
Nice job with this I'll check this out on the weekend when i don't need my phone running cm9
Compared to MikMiui
I'm getting this phone in a few days so I wanna get MIUI. How is this rom compared to MikMiui. Which would be a good rom? I'll be using it as a daily driver. Thank you.

EDIT: To fix LED notification, replace lights.c in device/htc/msm8960-common/liblights/ with this one:
https://raw.github.com/AOKP/android_device_htc_msm8960-common/jb/liblights/lights.c
The one that comes in the CM device tree doesn't work with anything besides CM, it seems, so I fixed it for AOKP/my other ROMs and that same lights.c file should work for this ROM as well.

Don't believe the OP is a member of Liquid so it will likely stay unofficial. Think you might be confused with beta and stable since unofficial or official has nothing to do with stability.

Edit: pacman for edison: http://bit.ly/1196VZS
No camera.. and it has other bugs.
Need 4.1.2 gapps (I think).
BMM patch for cmpa should work with it (?!?)
But someone should rebuild it with new sources - it has been updated a lot since I built it.

Ok.. I guess the camera was an easy fix.. I just borrowed the libions from CMPA
Attached is the FIX.zip. (Not an ideal fix, but it works - actually, there should only be one libion_ti.so, and the libion.so symlinked to it)
Like I said, this should really be rebuilt from scratch from source.. Maybe I will get a chance to sync the repos again and rebuild it soon (planning on cleaning up and re-doing my virtual box on which I build in the near future - I don't have a lot of free space for these kind of projects there at the moment).
Maybe I will clean up the current pacman rom.zip and re-upload it.. not sure yet.
But, for those that want to use/try PAC-man for Edison:
ROM: http://bit.ly/1196VZS
BMM patch (if installing as system other than 1st): http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390362690511176203 (from CMPA)
Rotation/screenshot fix (will give slight UI tearing): http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390355257214631938 (from CMPA)
Camera fix: Attached below
Gapps: use 4.1.2 package

The camera. It didn't work at all. Now it works.. but not great.. like cmpa and other rom's cams - no front-facing video (no facelocks, snapchats, etc), bad flash sync probably..

Hopefully you will have a chance to rebuild it..maybe even a kexec version. But for now im focused on your PA rom. Hopeing for kexec soon.
Installed pacman rom. Tweaked it up. Fixed init.d..speedy v7 scripts. No lag. Used your rotation fix..screen rotation works. Screenshots are perfect. Oc at 12. Some of settings preferences dont work. Could i use the camera libs from your asosp to make this work?

Not all libs were created equal.. No, a lot of the libs from aospa will not work on pacman..
But you could take the media_profiles.xml from aospa and fix (kinda) front-facing video. I will re-make the existing zip into a little better functioning ROM in the next couple of days... but I think someone else has agreed to try to build it fresh from new sources - and I offered my assistance.

Well maybe it will get rebuilt from fresh sources. This has been one of my favirite roms ever...Still confused on the whole building process.
Thanks for the information altered. Would be good to see someone starts working on the pacman roms.

Pacman is built on a cm base so I would look to cm to fix the camera. However like altered said there has been a lot of changes and it really needs a fresh build to bring it up to 4.2.2. My repo is synced to build pacman for mako. I'm extremely busy right now with 2 sons playing baseball but if I can find time I might annoy altered for some help to try and build it for Edison. I'm not real experienced especially for compiling for a bl locked device. Anyone wants to get to it first be my guest

That makes two of us..
Yes, the tearing bug will not be fixed until I get it booting a new kernel with kexec - otherwise, I could possibly make it without the UI tearing but you will have the rotation and screenshot size glitch..
And, I have no idea about 3.20... Those are the PA Team's version numbers - and it's still at 3.15.

it should be built from Source to work..i don't have a stable internet connection to begin with..so cannot sync the huge repo for the build..
That's fine...did you had a chance to visit the DNA forum...I created a thread for getting developers for our device...I found a developer who said he can help...it would be nice if you can visit that thread and support any questions...

I have tried everything to port CM onto our Butterfly, but couldnt get to boot, LOL.
It installs but doesn't boot. I dont know how to dev from source, hence never tried.

hard luck...but do you think it might be because of kernel issue...did you try with kairi kernel for 4.2.2 or you can check with him to get support...
Boot also has some issues.
Its not entirely the kernel issues.

it wont work(easily) by just porting..it has to be vendor specific files from CM to make the framework boot..i have compiled my own CM Rom(for Nexus4) before and its much easy to build than port.. i am eagerly waiting for summer for the AOSP project to start..
Even we are waiting for your AOSP based ROM!
The major thing that we are missing for our device is CM...if we get CM then our device will be excellant...

CM can come if someone builds CM from source.
Start from kernel porting is correct way. As two devices are similar, after replacing kernel to the one that runs on your device, it will boot. Without working kernel you cannot debug with logcat.

Nobody is trying to build kernel for Cyanogenmod?
Maybe I can build kernel for x920d/x920e, but as I don't have these devices I cannot check whether built kernel works or not.

i'd be better building it ground up to make sure everything is fine..kernel is easy to setup..the vendor and device files are the PITA..since this is a unsupported device and the next closest base is the Droid DNA..
