Apex. Has everything that Nova has and lets you hide drawer icons... for free. I used Nova starting with the ICS leaks, but moved over to Apex for that one reason. Haven't regretted it at all.

Same as this. Apex is treating me great.
Nova for me.
The ability to hide the dock icons sold it for me. Gives you more room on the desktop and you can set a gesture to make them appear/ disappear.

I like Go Launcher because it's got a lot of fun transition animations. And I'm a total sucker for that sort of thing.

what he said
well i used golauncher after launcherpro and then nova
Nova Prime. Apex is very similar but Nova has more features like being able to swipe a dock icon to open another app. For example i set my camera icon, when i swipe up, it opens quick pick. When i swipe up on my facebook icon it opens instagram. There are more swipe actions that can be used to set shortcuts, over Apex. But of course free is usually a no brainer.

MIUI launcher for some time was my faworite but later it becomes clear XIaomi only care for MI-One and don't even test his ROMs on other devices. MIUI for Sensation has unfixed porting issues for months.
The stock one is the best for me. It look very nice and with some widgets you can make it really "sexy"

I like to switch between sense 3.6, espier launcher and apex. Espier launcher *might* be my overall favorite because I hate widgets / love the simple icon grid concept / hate iPhones / love apple's icon design / hate app drawers / love Android.
now that's some bipolar disorder eh?
Sense 4. But TSF Shell is pretty good, too..

I personally found Sense 4 too laggy on my Sensation. I prefer using either the S3 launcher or Go launcher. The S3 Launcher is smooth as heck, but lacks customization options

Well we all know sense is fat and slow. It looks great. But we want speed. Or at least i do. I use adw at the moment. I think its pretty good. Have any of you tried launcher pro or something else that you think is far better than any other. Lets take a poll. Im interested. Thanks

ADW EX. I'll never use anything else. The hidden dockbar is just too good. Fast and clean and nothing else comes close for customization.
Also used Launcher Pro, but ADW wins.
I have always used adw on my other phones with CM7, but it didn't seem to run very well on the sensation. I just tried Launcher Pro starting about 2 days ago and that is where I am staying until something changes.
I haven't GoLauncher EX is the only one that wasn't slow on my phone...ADW was great on my G2 though.

I've had both Launcher Pro and ADW Ex. I liked ADW Ex better than Launcher Pro. Both were definitely faster and snappier than the Sense. But I put Sense back on cause of the looks.
Had ADW EX for a little while but then switched to Go Launcher EX. I actually find it more customizable. Both were fast for me. I don't think I'll switch for a while.
Sense is fine for me. I think it's just as quick as the other launchers stock for stock

i love customization of adw ex but i always end up missing my sense widgets.. now if someone can develop some sense widget replacements ill be set
I use Go Launcher. I tried Adw and launcher Pro ex but I just think that the customization in Go Launcher is better than anything else, at the moment anyways. I also like the transitions and the" wrap around" home screens. I keep the other two installed just to check for updates.
I wouldn't mind a faster launcher, but I really like the ring lockscreen scheme on Sense.

I bought the phone because of his software and speed and the only thing i miss is root to tweak the rest little bits
Twlauncher seems nice too. I'm using it today.

Do any launchers support the qHD wallpaper like Sense does? I've tried Go Launcher and ADW and can't get them to not crop my wallpaper photo too much. The form factor isn't right.
Also Go Launcher dock icons are too small on this screen, and don't seem adjustable.
Tried using ADW and Launcher Pro PLus for some time....
I realized, Sense 3.0 is the best
Adw has some hd icons and walls. Also on adw you can change the size of icons. Just saying. Might help.

I use launcher pro and you still keep the sense lockscreen. One downfall of sense is that it only takes gives you a 4x4 layout. I have 5x10 layout using launcher pro means you can fit more on your homescreens. Plus you can resize widgets.

Personally, Sense. The only reason I say this is because if you have one like LauncherPro, it just adds to the amount of RAM already being consumed, and makes it slower.

Zeam is light weight + fast + does not hog the battery. Win win in my book.
I think the whole launcher wars crap is overrated. What do you need to do that's so special with your launcher, anyway? Are you launching nuclear missiles? As long as you can put icons and arrange it how you want it, then who cares? (PS every launcher can do that)

I'd disagree with this statement. One of the benefits of using a specific launcher with stock Sense, for instance, was that it made everything feel a lot smoother. LauncherPro, for instance, glided between home screens where Sense would stutter a bit. And there are quite a few differences in overall look; ADW has the best method of hiding the status/notification bar, Launcher 7 emulates WP, and Slidescreen is just totally different.
Personally, I like Launcher 7's clean look quite a lot. Widget implementation definitely needs some work, but it's a great way to freshen up your phone's UI every now and then.
When I ran Ginggy I had Go launcher EX and sometimes ADW (I think, I cant remember lol) and now that I am on ICS I use Nova. It is the stock ICS launcher but with more user tweaks.

Sense launcher: laggy
I just updated to ARHD 6.2.1 ICS with Sense; I'd been Senseless for a long time on my Sensation (ARHD 3.x + NoSense). I tried to live with the Sense launcher for about half a day, but it's so laggy, especially coming back to the home screen from an app (by pressing the Home button). Even launching apps is slower and there are just these multi-second pauses. I had to switch back to Launcher Pro, which is smooth as butter.
Just wondering what launcher you guys use for your HTC One X.
Smoothest / best looking?
I'm currently still just using the stock sense launcher myself...but hear that nova launcher and trebuchet launcher work well.
What would you recommend?
Yea +1 .. I'm new to android and was wondering if using launchers other than stock sense use up more battery? I love the different functions available but am not willing to spare any battery life for it, what do you guys think, I tried apex for a day but was worried about battery life so I uninstalled it
I've always been a launcher pro person but recently was turned onto nova and haven't looked back since. I love it, very simple, smooth and fast. Highly suggest it!

Uh...negligible? In my experience, as long as launcher doesn't do crazy stuff requiring major 3d rendering or has lots of weird animations then battery life is a non-issue.
Apex Launcher fan here. Has been more fun, interesting and I found it to be more smooth and quick then Nova.
Not trying to be dumb, but I am new to android. What do these launchers, apex/nova, do that is so different than what our phones already do? Seems like sense has all of these features already.
and 2, wouldn't this be running on top of sense, meaning two launchers are running at the same time? how does that work and not slow things down?

No, it doesn't run on top of Sense, it runs INSTEAD of Sense. Third party launchers allow you to do things that the stock launcher did not implement, like assigning custom icons, overlapping widgets, creating more/less rows and columns on your homescreen, creating more homescreens than the original allowed (not the case with Sense 4.0...but I remember TouchWiz on my old Captivate only allowed 5 homescreens while Android itself allows up to 7), gesture controls, and plenty of other things.
Above all, third party launchers are updated regularly to fix bugs and add new features. You don't have to wait for all the bueacracy involved with the manufacturer and carrier to get an update pushed to your device.
Apex Launcher Pro. Super smooth. Haven't had a redraw yet.
Hww do I add all the widgets using the Apex/Nova launchers? I don't see all the widgets like the default clock with weather widget? Do I need to root my phone to gain access to these widgets?

There are plenty of apps and widgets that mimick the Sense ones. Beautiful Widgets, for example.
I would go for the apex launcher. The customization on it is absolutely amazing. It also looks very close to stock ICS so it will seem like it is Sense-less.
Over the last week I've pretty much tried them all and kept coming back to go Launcher.
Hello,
Im using trebuchet right now, because I don't want to change my unstable cyanogen 9.
I replaced my stock adw from cm7 for go launcher ex, because it is less laggy and you can hide apps.

Apex Launcher with a Blu Kuban twist. The only launcher and ROM worth running IMHO.
Nova Launcher. Very nice. I will probably get the paid version as soon as I have money to spare. End of the month here so I'm prioritizing food instead..
I like the app drawer and the fact that you can turn off all the animations etc. If it's something I hate it's 3d effects in the home screen and app drawer. Urgh.
It's the only one I've felt is actually better than HTC Sense 4.0 that is already on the device (One V). I would probably be more keen to switch the launcher if I had a Samsung phone.
With ICS I love using Apex. One of the most fluid launchers I've ever used, and it's pretty customizable.

Even with ICS my favourite launcher is still GO Launcher. In fact, I think the GO Dev team bring a large number of quality apps to Android, which is something a lot of Android apps unfortunately lack.

I was a big sense fan and then I tried Apex a while back and enjoyed the smoother usage. I have been using Nova for a bit now, it's almost identical to Apex, I like the method Nova uses to sort widgets better than Apex. It groups things by program, and unless Apex changed something, it would just give you a list of every widget available

Actually using the TouchWiz launcher bundled with JellyBam. It's not nearly as customizable as Nova/Apex/Trebuchet, but it looks good and is very fluid. Quite enjoy the app drawer transition and pinch zoom.
