Root Samsung Galaxy S2 skyrokcet 4.0.4 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket 4.0.4 and I was trying to update to 4.1.1 version but I need to root my phone for that first right ? so I searched and found some links but they involved installing ADB drivers so isn't there any other methods without having to install ADB drivers.
Thank you in advance.

Quit being lazy follow the instructions adb saves lives in the long run anyway

you are not very good at searching my friend
all custom roms are prerooted or have instructions on doing it for their particular rom, adb is not required
each custom rom has installation instructions
for rooting stock read my sig, they are stickies
read the last part of my sig and follow it

It seems like the AT&T Skyrocket and the Rogers shg-i727r are interchangeable. Follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427268

[Q] Unsure how to root Galaxy Tab 2 P3110

Hey Guys,
I've just purchased a Galaxy tab 2 P3110 (7.0) and i would like to root the device, and put Cyanogenmod 10 or 10.1 on it, as this is christmas present for a close relative and want the added features Cyanogen offers. I already have this installed on a Samsung S3.
I've seen quite a few different guides on the forums and other websites, all with differing ways to root the device and install custom ROM, can someone please provide a recommended guide to follow.
Check the 7 tab development thread.
Basically you need to download a program named Odin and use it to flash the proper cwm recovery to your tab. Then you boot that recovery to install the rom. You don't need to root, rooting is only if the rom you use is not rooted, like stock rom etc. You also don't need to unlock the bootloader or anything like that.

Dear Nutsonfire,
Thanks for your response i'm still conflicted about which instructions to use, some are saying make sure you download samsung kies, and the drivers etc..... before running ODIN, and some don't even mention it.
Heres what i've looked at so far... can you clarify as i definetly dont want to brick this

Kies is just so that you have the correct usb drivers so that your device is recognized by windows. You can also just install the drivers stand alone or Kies.
get odin and the file from the chainfire topic on the dev section
flash it and voila
quite simple, purchased mine last week and already flashed a lot of things
Amongst a slur of guides to rooting your Galaxy Tab 2 7" 3110, this video helped my a lot.

He goes in-depth on a lot of things that confused me, so hopefully it will help you!

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all your great help so far.
Not sure if this is applicable but figured i would check before i do it. I've noticed on my device its listed as a P3110, but on a few of the instructions and the CF-AUTO root its listed as model number GT-P3110, from what i have its a plain tab 2, without phone.

yeah we just drop the GT- from the front of the model name as a sorta shorthand the 3 Models for the 7" (not counting the verizon that uses a different model number string) are the GT-P3100, GT-P3110 and GT-P3113 and the 10.1" versions replace the 3 at the beginning with a 5 so they are GT-P5100, GT-P5110 and GT-P5113 they are the same thing whether they have the GT in front or not, its just quicker to not type it out everytime.
BRILLIANT

[SOLVED] Rooting Nexus S I9020A

Hello,
I've been searching this forum for rooting guides and i came up with this one and it looks pretty straightforward to me but i have messed up samsung phones in the past so i thought i'd post here just to get some advice. I have quite a lot of experience in unlocking and s-off htc phonesand i'm told samsung phones are way easier.
So please correct me if i'm wrong: basically i just need to have the samsung drivers and adb/fastboot to unlock the phone, then flash cwm recovery and flash any rom i want?
I'm currently on Gingerbread 2.3.6
Baseband I9020AUCKF1
Build GRK39F
Kernel 2.6.35.7-gf5f63ef
P.S. If anyone could recommend a stable 4.2 rom that would be fantastic

Also if you want to install a custom rom from stock you could follow this guide http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_p5110 . You dont need to root as it comes already rooted and without all the useless bloatware that the stock firmware comes preloaded.
