Hey guys,
New member here and love the forum. I am wanting to root my HTC One X I bought yesterday and am having troubles. It is android 4.0.4 and software 2.20. Am I able to root this phone (heard some places I cannot yet)? If I can, can someone point my in the right direction? If not, is there anything I can do to make the phone rootable? I have rooted a Nook and a K1 in the past but it has been over a year, and I am not up-to-date with everything despite trying to read as much as possible.
I also just received a Asus Transformer TF300T. Are these things worth rooting as well? If so, is there a good place on the forums to start reading up on that? I wanted to put Jelly Bean on it but have read some are having issues with video playback on NetFlix, etc.
Thanks so much for reading and any advice anyone can give is greatly appreciated!
You may be new here, but I'm sure that you are capable of using the search function.
There are forums already for both the HTC One X and the Asus Transformer FT300T - have a look there, read a lot and then ask the questions you need to in those forums.

Hello there! This would be my first post around these parts, although I've owned my Nexus S for around 7 months now and browsed these forums in the past. I'd also like to say that I realize this question might have been asked more than once already, but I've done my due diligence and searched without finding a definitive answer.
Anyway, I've decided that I've gone for too long without being able to flash ROMs, use all those sudo-required tools and whatnot, and I've decided to root my Nexus S so I can get some of the fun I've been missing. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm a software developer and I work with embedded systems for a living, but I just don't want to risk my $500 phone if I can avoid it. What this means is be as technical as you need to be, but I'd rather have the root process be a walk in the park and not an excursion to Mordor.
Anyway, my phone is a Nexus S i9020A(UCKF1, whatever that means), running Android 2.3.6. I've read this and this thread, and while the first looks like what I'm looking for, I recall my brother being able to root his Nexus One in a few clicks and I was wondering if I could do the same for my device. The second thread looks a bit more promising, but all I've found in that thread is mentions of other NS sub-models and not of my own, nor if running 2.3.6 means incurring in any risks.
As you can see, I'd appreciate some help here. Is there a painless, few-clicks method for rooting my specific device? If you have the same device, how did you do it? Do you have any experience with that tool I linked to?
Thanks in advance. If by any chance this has been asked before, do point me in that direction and I'll be equally pleased.
I have been searching threads for the past two days on how to root my new kindle fire 2012, and all seem to have major bugs. Are there any jelly bean roms available that work decently??
also I am new to rooting and apparently the new kindle software is difficult to root, most threads ive been reading in the kindle fire section offer little help with most users talking about rooting older software (10.2.3) witch is information that does not help me.
Please if someone, anyone could send me a step by step guide to rooting this tablet i would be forever greatful, this tablet is way to limited for my daily uses and would like to get some decent applications on this device.
-thank you for all who took the time to read this i'm sorry if i am in the wrong section, or something
Hey everybody,
I'm totally new to this forum, and first would like to apologize if I have posted this in the wrong place. I searched for a A31 forum but couldn't find one I thought would suit this post.
Anyway,
I've recently received a Prontotec Tablet with KitKat 4.4.2.
I successfully rooted the device following instructions I found regarding the A31 processor in a forum I ran across. Woot!
My problem now is I'm not finding anything regarding a Recovery or any Roms that would be suitable for this device.
Any help you are willing to provide would be greatly appreciated.
I had posted links, but since I'm new I'm not able to post them it seems -__-'
Lemme know if there's any clarifications you need, search Prontotec on Amazon or Google and you'll see what I'm talking about
It's one of those many, low budget Chinese tablets, but its rather good considering. I'm not expecting miracles, but a point in the right direction (what other tablets are similar/or have compatible roms) would be a great start.
Thanks everyone!
I really really hope this is the right place to be asking this, I don't want to flood a place i,ve only just discovered, but I've tried to figure this out on my own and have had little luck, So some insight would be very much appreciated.
So The situation is: I have a budget tablet that came pre-installed with adware and (i think) malware. I've heard of people fixing these sort of things by "Rooting" the tablet and removing the issue. Well my tablet came Pre-rooted, so after looking around some more, i found out about Customs ROMs. Further investigation revealed that most customs ROMS don't support my kind of Tablet, Which is a Tagital (That's where the no-name comes in) T10 10.1 inch tablet. My purchase of this tablet was mostly my fault, as i bought on impulse and didn't look at the reviews at all, which blatantly expose the issues with the tablet.
Now, what I'd like to know is: Is there a way for me to apply a custom ROM even though my tablet is unsupported? I'd like to avoid returning this tablet, so i'd like to get the best out of the situation.

Hi - I am new to this site and it's my first post. I am a newbie in RE: rooting Android devices. I have jailbroken iPhone's in the past but it seems that rooting is a bit more involved. Long story short, I have a lot of mobile electronics that require a rooted Android device now and I am at a loss as far as what to get and how to root. I have a few out of contract phones on the Verizon network but none are Android. I need a newer phone that has the Miracast (or cast screen) capabilities with preferably a removable battery, microSD card slot, and a microUSB connection. I went to the root section and not too many of the "newer" phones were listed. I did see the HTC 10 was listed with videos explaining all the steps and then read further in the thread to see that Verizon has somehow hidden the Bootloader (or something to that effect) and it can't be rooted at this time.
Long story short, does anyone know of a phone from Verizon that supports Miracast (or cast screen) and that can be rooted today? If not, I may have to look for an unlocked phone.
Again, I'm a newbie and unfortunately need a lot of guidance at this point but hopefully someday I will be able to assist others as I do on other forums for other things.
Any help or direction would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I could offer a specific device (LG V10 for example) but don't see any info regarding rooting that model (unless it's too new). Ok, I'll ask over in the other forum.
Thanks again.
