[FIX] ICS data drops for T-Mobile Users - T-Mobile LG G2x

Updated: instructions Aug-10
Updated: New file optimized for US T-Mobile New instructions - Aug-15
If you have data drops after this please communicate with me. I hate it when someone tells me this fix sucks and then never answers my troubleshooting questions. So as far as I know they have a separate issue!
This is a more public post of what has been going on in the Paranoidandroid developmet thread, but this fix works for all T-Mobile ICS ROM users.
The APN list I have provided here is a US T-Mobile APN list built from the original I pulled apart on the original T-Mobile ROM. Now...this means IT WILL NOT WORK for users on other carriers or in other countries. I might work for the Canada Wind Mobile users as well.
What this did for me and the other T-Mobile testers: It removed the data drops completely for myself and the original testers. This whole data drop thing (and why many others never see it) may be a issue with the "Simple" mobile APN in the default list. Simple uses the same towers as T-Mobile but with different authentication.
What that means is T-Mobile users get small drops as the phone tries to connect to the Simple (which looks like T-Mobile to the phone) towers and then fails because the SIM is not authorized on Simple. Then the next APN in the list "T-Mobile US" is used and connected.
This is an example for others with data drops: Seeing as I have no idea if non-T-Mobile users have ever experienced this problem, I have no idea if trimming down the APN list to include only your carrier APNs willl make any difference. But a smaller APN file could not hurt. The ROM builders must keep the larger file in thier builds to ensure all users everywhere can connect to their carrier. Bad thing is that most of this list is filled with carrier discontinued APNs (Mergers, acquisition, etc) but some may be needed to support older SIM cards.
I would love to have feedback though. Trimming the APN list and importing the settings from the original APN file was a little weird because it was from an older format, but you just use the same format as the new APN list. Even the new included default APN list does not follow the version 7 rules completely. Most important part is the type= identifier in each APN. This defines what functions the APN have. (Default, MMS, SUPL, DUN)
Instructions
CWM Flashable Download: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14980920/tmobile_apnfix.zip
Step 1: download the zip to your SDcard and reboot into Recovery.
Step 2: install the zip and reboot
Step 3: Wipe Dalvik cache is not doing this while flashing a new ROM
Step 4: verify that "Simple" is not in your APN l list - System Settings > Wireless and Networks > More > Mobile Networks >Access Point Names (If it is then delete it)
Troubleshooting
Sudden horrible data connection issues: Verify the permissions on file "/etc/apns-conf.xml" are 644. Some have had the permissions randomly change on this file, not sure how or why.
The APN list this modifies is only a reference file to the APN function deeper in the phone. That is why Simple can reappear after the flash is applied if you did not apply this during a fresh install of a ROM.

Is there any way you could just post what specific changes you made so we don't have to use the flashable file?

I find my data stays well using PA build5. I am watching new builds to see for changes that come!

Doesn't appear to "fix" the data drop for me on paranoid build 7, the data appears to kick back in faster but it still is dropping and leaving my GPS struggling to get a lock and messenger booting off due to the other known things to make the data drop

Where are you getting data drops at, I mean what activities are you doing or what programs are you using when this happens? And does the bars change from blue/grey; or are you loosing the H/3/2 above the bars?

Sending MMS and anything that uses the GPS, both, goes gray and lose data icon
Sent from my LG-P999

So I flashed this and can see no discernible difference in my APN list. Simple is still there, and the T-Mobile APN appears unchanged. Also still experiencing the data drops at the same rate
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium

Likewise, still having data drop issues, not much of a difference from what I can tell
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app

Ok, if the Simple APN still appears in your list it is a carry over from the previous settings. Just delete that APN from your list and it should not show up again. I think I remember that happening as well and forgot to mention some had to manually delete it. I will update the OP.

You can just open the apns-conf.xml file in the zip and see the changes. I'm not going to paste it here and clutter the post up

Just to make one thing clear, as I heard it before.
When the color of the icons change from blue to grey this does NOT mean that your data drops. Blue color indicates that it's connected to Googles servers. A data drop only occurred when there's no G/E/3G/H icon anymore.

First, delete the Simple APN and retest, Simple does not show up to begin with when using this process: Flash ROM, Gapps, BBfixes if needed, APN fix if needed. Flashing the APN fix on an existing build may not clear the Simple APN from the phones memory at first reboot.
I was hoping to avoid explaining this but here is the thing with the grey/blue bars because the APN function was complicated as it is. Tonyp and a few others had discussed this offline. The blue/grey bar thing gives greater granularity to Google Services connectivity at the expense of making us think we may have lost cellular data.
My bars turn grey when in Google Maps and when sending/receiving MMS
In most ICS builds:
Blue Bars = Connected to Google services / cellular data is connected
Grey Bars = Not connected to Google services / data is still connected
This color changing thing never happened in my original ROM
My T-Mobile ROM never changed colors so I never would have know if or when Google servers lost connection. Don't know what to tell ya as I don't have anything else to go off of.
You are not really losing data because you will notice the data activity still happening in the signal bar overlay (the up/down arrows). The MMS still goes through and the Google maps application still updates the map data as you scroll around. If this is not the case for you, then something else is going on. Tonyp discovered a larger problem in the framework.apk that he ended up patching and I believe includes in the newest build, that resolved a GPS-data problem. The fix allowed the radio to recognize a data connectivity drop and reconnect. But if it reconnects to Simple first, then you still get a pause in connecting back to the TMobile APN until Simple fails.
I will have to add this to the already long OP.....now that I am out of breath.

Alright, so I flashed this, deleted Simple, and I will say it seems to have fixed a problem I had with receiving MMS. thanks for this!

Thanks OP, tested and confirmed working. Props for putting the explanation up as well.

Simple isn't in my APN list, I flashed the zip from OP, my Data is dropping the same it just starts up a lot faster but it is still dropping. Maps will stop updating for a few seconds, no data or buffer, bars, arrows, and data icon go away. Instant Messenger always kicks accounts off.

put genesis stable 1 on my phone to try this and it flashed fine, left simple listed as an APN so i deleted it
was able to download from the browser but when i went into the Play Store i couldnt download anything, even after clearing the app data. so i reflashed, installed this fix, same thing. did not check mms messages though, too put off about the play store not working

I'm back on Domination build 80. I wiped cache/dalvik, flashed the APN fix, fixed permissions, rebooted, deleted Simple, rebooted, wiped cache/dalvik again, and then rebooted. I went to the Play Store on my desktop browser, chose to install YouTube, it pushed to my phone just fine and it appears to be downloading with no issue (aside from the fact that phone signal at my job is so bad tha it's literally worse than dial up...). I haven't had a chance to try MMS because it's usually a headache trying to receive pictures while at work so I don't even want to try.

Man I am struggling trying to think what would be happening for you. I have blue bars off/on during maps...showing intense data usage...but always get map data. The Play Store, I have browsed all around it, watch videos, downloaded apps, updated apps...I don't get any drops. I'm going to have to ask for some logcats from the two of you here to try to help. What chat program are you using, maybe I'll try it and see what it does for me.
Please help me by providing the following also, as I really do want to figure this issue out for all users if possible...
Which baseband are you on?
What RIL are you on? ( Use getril in the store, I want to know if this could be a BB thing and if you have matching BB/RIL)
Thanks for the help!

Heads up, I have noticed that fixing permissions after applying this package can screw up the permissions on the /etc/anps-conf.xml file. This causes major data connection issues. Either apply the apn fix again, after fixing permissions, or change the permissions manually to 644.

From the few people that have given me feedback, thank you!!! As a result the OP has been updated with a new file to download. This should help the few that did not see improvements with my original posting. It also should work for Canada WIND users but I need tester feedback.

A couple fixes for some of our problems

Lets face it. All devices have bugs upon release that the normal person won't care about nor think of it as a bug. This device has it's share but as a reminder. There is no software bug that can't be fixed. By the way, make sure you don't skip the initial setup and if you did just wipe and restore.
1) Some are having a problem when using WiFi. There 4G or 3G data is not turning off and instead of your device using WiFi to exchange data it is using your 4G or 3G data. If you turn WiFi on and don't see a 4G/3G icon in the notification area then your device is working properly in this department.
The Fix: There is three "My Account" apps on our devices and there causing a conflict when 2 or more is running at the same time. To fix this you need to delete all of them (I used Root Explorer). If you use "My Account" you can download the current version from the market. Next, freeze or delete WiFi calling and the T-Mobile app pack. After you have deleted everything you have to reboot your device. Note: While deleting or freezing some of these, you might get some looping force closes. Just simply remove your battery to reboot the device and once it reboots the force closing will be gone.
2) Some are having a problem when moving from cell tower to cell tower. If you are losing a data signal every once in a while but the 4G/3G icon is still showing in the notification area, you need to do the fallowing.
The Fix: Go into your Mobile Network settings and make sure your device is setup to automatically use GSM/WCDMA. Then click on search for networks and at this point you will see T-Mobile UMTS, T-Mobile GSM and ATT GSW. After they appear click on select automatically. While your at it go ahead and click on data roaming since T-Mobile has contracts with other providers so your able to roam on there towers. Don't worry, you won't be charged for roaming since T-Mobile only charges for international roaming. After all this do a reboot.
Some of you think that there is a problem with your battery if your device is showing your "cell standby" above 30%. This is not a problem. Every time you charge your G2X it will reset usage percentages as you know. Well if you emediatly start using your phone and don't put it down for 2 hours than I promise you that your display will be at the top of the list. Obviously if your device stays off for a little bit and upon waking it you look at your battery statistics your going to see Cell standby and Phone idle at the top since the display was off. If your wandering why Cell Standby is using more juice than WiFi it's because when you turn your display off it automatically sleeps your WiFi.
The percentages in your batter statistics need to add up to 100%-105% and something is going to use more than the rest depending on what your doing with your device after removing it from charge. Ask yourself this. If my G2X is in my pocket for 1 hour after removing it from it's charger. What would I like to see using most of my battery? I can tell you right now. Certainly not your display since it's been off the entire time.
There's only one MyAccount app on the phone. I looked myself in the System/app folder. If you see multiple MyAccounts in a task manager it is just another instance of the same application.
Also there's NOTHING wrong with Wifi Calling or My Account. I have both on and use them extensively. My phone has gone now 26hrs without a reboot or hitch of heavy usage. Wifi works, 3G/4G works perfectly. I don't have any issues right now...until the next reboot
Want to give people another perspective since you don't have to give up MyAccount or Wifi caling to have a usable phone.

Thats WHY you don't have any problems. Because you only have 1 "MyAccount" application. Those of us that had 2 or 3 have the problems. By the way I had 3 and no they weren't showing in task manager. They were all deleted using Root Explorer.
Where did you see them? They were all in system/app??!?
Odd how they could all exist together - were they named differently?

Yes, different version numbers and branding included in the apks. I had 2, version 1 and version 5.x.
OP, for some reason when I try Search Networks I get: "Error while searching for networks." Any ideas?

They all existed in the system folder. It seemed like instead of the new versions updating the existing app, they were just creating new files. Your right, it is odd but I can see how that would create a problem.

[Q] MIUI without data?

Hey everyone
i'm pretty new to the whole nexus s scene, as i've had this device for about a week now. I've rooted my phone successfully and i'm running MIUI's latest ROM..1.8.5 i believe. Now for the problem..
For some odd reason I'm unable to connect to my 3G network at all (yes, data is enabled in the settings, and set to 3g prefered/2g/only 3g..still nothing). Usually there'd be that green "3G" on top bar of my screen, but it doesn't show up. Now i rely on wifi to go online, which isnt a problem...but it feels like my money's being cheated if i dont use my data in occasional situations. I've tried flashing it again and again, but no results. I've flashed my phone to the Oxygen ROM, and the little 3G icon appeared, indicating that data is enabled (i forgot to actually check if it worked LOL). I haven't found anyone else experiencing this problem with MIUI, but i've found threads on them having some sort of difficulty with their data. If anyone could help me out, or direct me to a thread that has a possible solution, i would really appreciate it ~ thank you in advance.
Also, I'm on Fido.....if that helps.
I'm on the latest miui and I don't have that issue try toggling the airline mode to see if it will kick it in. If not really download the Tom and do a clean install see if that works.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
hey, i've tried toggling the airline and it doesn't help. also, what do you mean by "the Tom"?
What happens when you try to connect with just 3G (what type of error do you receive)? Miui's stock 3G icon is white
Also, I think the other gentleman meant to spell ROM

He meant rom, auto correct changes the word rom, I think you need to wipe and reflash the rom.
hey, i've just tried reflashing the rom...and still no 3g ): !
also, when i enable data, and set it to 3g..there's no error. there's simply no "3g" icon on the top, and i can't connect.
Did u try manually inputting your apn? Sometimes providers don't push the settings to you
what exactly would i put in for my apn? sorry, total noob here :/
Go to menu>settings>system>mobile network setting>access point names. Do u have an entry there? You should. If not, you need to check with your network provider for the settings.
i've just tried putting in the APN settings (copied the stuff from the APN settings when 3g works on the oxygen ROM). is there anything else i havent filled in and should? cuz....it still doesnt work
Not really. Create it, fill it, save it, choose it and restart. Should work, it always did for me
How's the battery life on that rom
Seems ok to me. 3g uses alot of juice since the service is crappy in my country. Otherwise, best rom I tried
dang :/ still nothing... i've noticed something though. when im on my oxygen rom and search for networks..the option "Fido" pops up. when im on MIUI, the option "Rogers Wierless" pops up in the place of "Fido" .___." that may have something to do with it...
Same problem here on desire s.
When I try to change the apn setting I get a force close.
Cheers, Cor

[Q] Data Connection Time-outs

I've been having data connection issues for as long as I've had an activated Straight Talk SIM in the phone (about a week). Here's what's happening:
When I open an app or program that needs an active data connection, more often than not, data takes a while to start flowing. Often more than long enough for my screen to time-out before it connects. I have moderate signal strength, generally 2-3 bars, and the little H+ icon is there, so I'm assuming it's not a signal issue. Once data actually kicks in, it generally works fine for whatever time I'm actively using it. However, once i stop using it, and let the phone go back to sleep, it's a crap-shoot as to whether or not it'll connect quickly next time I need it to.
It doesn't seem to be a ROM-specific occurance, although it did seem a bit less likely to time-out when running stock Froyo. I've tried several different costom ROMs, a handful of different modems, and it never seems to make any real difference. I've also tried slight variations in the APN settings, to no apparent avail. Toggling airplane mode and/or rebooting don't seem to have any definite effect either. Sometimes data will connect quickly after a toggle/reboot, sometimes it makes no difference. It's like the phone just doesn't seem to 'know' that it's supposed to be transferring data.
Im having the same issue. My first month with ST was great really fast of course I went well over 2 GB so it slowed me down towards the end of the first month.Well I paid my next bill and still slow. They seem to be clueless when I call them oh your using an Infuse well I ordered the correct sim from there site they still clueless.Ive have tried about every rom out there just to see whats up and still the same issue.Hopefully someone here has the fix.
Im having the same issue nothin seems to work.

Turns out we're not the only ones..not by a long shot:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...t-Talk-has-upped-the-ante-on-throttling-users!
Since it's a frustrating exercise in futility to actually call and hope to get one of their script-reading robots that can speak some semblance of comprehensible English, I emailed them on their FB support page and started a claim ticket. Got the usual runaround about removing the SIM card and battery, do a hard reset, clear cache and cookies from browser, blah blah blah. It's kinda funny how I linked the CS rep to that thread on HoFo, and she's still not acknowledging that there's any type of widespread issue. SSDD with Straight Talk.
I just registered over on HoFo and was looking around their Straight Talk forum. I think someone may have found the answer to some of our data connectivity woes. It may be as simple as having to make a DNS change to compensate for an overly-crowded network. I downloaded DNS Changer from the Play Store, and changed my DNS settings to OpenDNS. It's a bit too early to tell if it's just random coincidence, or a real fix, but I AM getting much better connectivity so far. For some reason, it seems to work a little better if you actually use the ST proxy in your APN settings.

Sprint lte cyanogenmod fix found

New info, Here is how to get LTE to work for sprint users. (Now includes Virgin Mobile as well!)
THE FIX FOR VIRGIN MOBILE LTE IS AS FOLLOWS: INSTEAD OF CHANGING THE APN TO n.sprpre.ispsn, change it to n.ij.ispsn, and set bearer to LTE.
THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF YOUR ABLE TO EDIT THE APNS VIA CHANGE APNS BY ANNANDO (GOOGLE PLAY), OTHERWISE NOT, SORRY.
NOW WORKING ON VIRGIN MOBILE. (THANKS SANDS207 FOR TESTING), CONFIRMED WORKING ON SPRINT XT1526.
ALSO CONFIRMED WORKING ON MOKEE OS, WITH JUST AN APN EDIT, (NOTHING REPLACED).
New information: if you want to undo the edit, just reset apns to default. Or you want to go to 3g.
1. Install desired rom, and gapps
2. If cm 12.1, just change the 1st sprint apn to "n.sprpre.ispsn, and set bearer to "LTE".
3. If other non working LTE cyanogenmod based rom, and it is lollipop based, (I haven't tested cm13), replace apns-conf in sytem, etc, from stock lollipop, set permissions to "0644", reboot to twrp, wipe data, cache, dalvik.
4. download "change apns" by annando from google play after rebooting and setting up.
5. Do step 2.
As far as i tested, this works on paranoid android as well, (if you replace the apns conf and set proper permissions), then change apn with the above mentioned app, after doing a data, cache, and dalvik cache in twrp.
Sorry for the edit, i just had to rewrite my steps, after discovering you only have to change 1 apn for this to work.
Oh yeah!!! That's awesome I will give this a try if you recommend it! So you have text, data and your calls all working? We have been so close on this, congrats man

I am using cm 12.1. The December 30th build. And how I edited the apns was APN changer. As far as the values, all I did was change the 4th APN name to n.sprpre, and changed the bearer to LTE. and changed the 1st, 2nd, and 3 apns to LTE only as well. Have you tried it yet?
I'm on stock 5.1 right now, I have really decided yet but 12.1 will be my first stop and from there I'll use Apn backup and restore if I switch ROM's and see if it will work being on VM this should work correctly via piggyback on the spark network. I have alot of options for data on my stock ROM so I will see if it matches first. I'm going to back up and try tonight, I'll definitely report back and let you know.

While I haven't gone through your whole process, I tried looking for "APN Changer" in the play store. The closest thing I found was "Change APN" by Appando. With that, I still get the error message about APNs unavailable to the user when I try to save new APNs (I can't view current ones). Is there some other App that I'm missing, or is it that I haven't done the apns-conf swap yet? Could you please provide a link to the app you used?
Awesome work getting this thing up and running on LTE!

I do apologize, it is called "Change APN", by appando. Sorry about that. I will update my original post so as not to confuse anybody else. And you only need to do the apns-conf switch if your not on cyanognemod 12.1. The only other rom ive tested this on is paranoid android, and i had to replace the apn in that one, set its permissions to 0644, and wipe data, cache, and dalvik in twrp. Then, after it booted, i did the apn name change.

I am sorry to say, i saw the same thing in cm13. I have not been able to change the apns. Im not sure why they don't show up. The only roms i have tested this out on are cm 12.1, and paranoid android, both of which are 5.1xx based. I really wish i could be more help, but until someone finds a way to make the apns show up, i am in the same boat you are. I do apologize for wasting your time with this.

No waste of time at all. Just means I have a choice to make between ROMs. You're sharing valuable info, no need to apologize!
Edit: Tried flashing official CM12.1 to see what I could see - I get one APN, MetroPCS internet, showing, in Change APN. Any attempt to add more or edit reverts me to the APNs not editable for this user screen. Not sure what the cause of this is - may be related to the fact that I've never activated on Sprint? I dunno. Seems strange that my device isn't acting like others. Tough to try to troubleshoot as well, as I am literally in a zero service area at home for Sprint.

@hydroman202 I tried last night and it didn't work for me. Looking back over stock some of my Apn info is slightly different so once I can get that info together I'll give it another shot but once the info matches up I'm almost sure I'll be good to go as well.

Yeah, I don't own a virgin mobile variant unfortunately, so i had no way of knowing whether or not it would work for it. I only know this works on the sprint variant, sorry about that. Thanks for testing though!
For Virgin Mobile LTE replace the apns-conf.XML in Cyanogenmod with this https://drive.google.com/folder/d/0Bz99NuhE3XwmLW15TGtHbFNDWGc/edit And set permissions to 0644 and reboot. Then open APN changer from the play store, you might see metroPCS or another APN listed but just ignore it and select restore default APN's and reboot again for good measure. Finally open APN changer and select the first Sprint APN like @hydroman202 mentioned in the OP and enter n.ij.ispsn in the APN setting below where it says Sprint and then set the bearer to LTE and IMPORTANT make sure to save and reboot. On reboot LTE should be working for you!! I changed my APN name from Sprint to Virgin Mobile LTE after I finished and that worked OK. This is what the APN looks like if you get stuck or need to enter it manually
your carrier label in settings may still say Boost even after LTE is working, I haven't figured out how to change that in build.prop yet but you can use Xposed GravityBox to change the carrier displayed on your status bar & lockscreen to Virgin Mobile LTE. [emoji2] [emoji2] [emoji2]

Your post says to change the apn to n.in.ispsn. correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you mean n.ij.ispsn? I'm not the grammer police, but I thought you should know! Lol! (Good Lol)!

Did you switch the network mode to global or lte first? If that doesn't work, try to toggle between 3g and LTE first, and see if they show. If even that won't make it show, try to click reset the apns after switching it to global. Because if you don't, it will default to 3g, and the proper apns will not show. Also, make sure that it is set to ruin, sim under network settings. Just thought you should know
Also, I found it will automatically erase the APN if you try to change the values "310" and "120". I'm not sure why, its just strange like that.
I saw something in https://android.googlesource.com/device/samsung/toroplus/+/jb-dev/test-apns-conf_sprint.xml
maybe you can try adding the apn="n.sprpre.ispsn" or apn="n.ij.ispsn" in the correct section of your modified apns-conf.xml file so this will help you not needing to use the APN changer application.
Like this https://github.com/Motorola-Cyanoge...prebuilt/system/etc/cdma/virgin/apns-conf.xml but with the correct values.

Thanks, I did a fresh install of CM 12.1 and used this template to make it work with the new values added, I just replaced the existing apns-conf with the new one and it worked straight away. The only this I haven't been able to figure out is outgoing MMS, I can receive pics but can't send them...normal sms and calls ingoing and outgoing work fine now @scritch007 @hydroman202

I'm still using the same fix I have had since cm12 for boost and have zero issues with MMS ... (Except on cm13) works perfectly with CAF .9 though. So Boost users use the methods that I've previously posted and you'll be fine. We need to find a way to package the fixes for all 3 MNVOs and that way they can be pinned in the ops of the respective roms.

This is the updated apns-conf for working VM LTE that I built from the template @scritch007 showed me https://drive.google.com/folder/d/0Bz99NuhE3XwmLW15TGtHbFNDWGc/edit everything works except sending pictures. I'll look into that I'm guessing it is also an APN hangup too. I have the info for the MMS APN but I'm not exactly sure all of it is right,I'll keep trying until I get it but that's what I can contribute for now

Trouble with data connection when mobile

Hi all,
Starting to get frustrated with my 3a and looking for avenues to address difficulty in maintaining a data connection when on the move. In all other ways this phone has been great.
When I am on the move - on the train, or in a car - my phone seems to lose data connectivity after a period of minutes. It seems to be an issue with maintaining a data connection when switching from tower to tower (at a guess). The phone does maintain mobile reception and I can be on a call without dropouts, but if for example watching a video, the video will stop, and eventually I will get the little cross in the reception icon to indicate no data connection.
No issues when not moving about, but am currently doing a lot of work on the fly, so hotspotting or conference calls are near impossible. This didn't always seem to be a problem, but due to Covid (and not moving around for a while), not sure exactly when it started. Have done some googling and tried a new sim card + changing private DNS settings with no luck. On the latest available update.
Is this a known issue with this phone? Any way I can diagnose or fix? Or am I looking at a new phone at this point?
Have rooted and switched ROMs on many previous phones, so quite happy to go down that path if need be.
cheers
I understand you say this only happens when you are moving but I would recommend checking with whatever carrier anyway maybe look on your carrier help site and write your same post here there and see if anyone else experiences the same. I would also save everything to USB or PC and flash factory image via fastboot and let it wipe not removing the fastboot -w in the./flash-all.sh. You could use an app like LTE discovery and set it to where you know exactly what it's doing and when it does it because you can set a small beep sound or wherever. What carrier do you use? Maybe update roaming , prl and profile, if you use a CDMA carrier. Also what type of case are you using? Just a few things that I thought of after reading your post here. You've probably already done all this but if not that's definitely what I would do. And last but certainly not least, are you using a custom rom or stock? Maybe check your/apns-conf.xml/ aka your apns and make sure they're correct and all for your carrier. I don't think you have to worry about apns unless you are using a custom rom in which case I would definitely check it out because sometimes they can be not right. I use Metro by T-Mobile and I'm located in the USA.
If you are on a custom rom you could try the old apn fix and just see if it's apn related... Wouldn't hurt anything.. Just save your current /apns-conf.xml/ and delete the apns-conf.xml file in your /system/etc/ and in /system/product/etc/ and replace the one in /system/product/etc/ with the one i link here and set permissions on it to 0644, then go to settings on your phone /networks and internet/ mobile networks/ scroll to bottom there and select access point names. Should be a lil three dot thing in top right and when you hit that select "reset to default" or "reset to default apn" and wait another 60 seconds or so then reboot. That will replace your apn configuration file. My file is recently copied from my last custom rom where everything worked fine and I had no issues. If this somehow is related to an apn outa wack then this will fix it. I learned this back years ago on another device forum from spaceminer here on xda. I've used this many times since and it's always worked. Again you don't need to do this on stock , only if you are using a custom rom. I believe stock is good.
