I rooted my Verizon gs3 using the one-click method by Noxious. It's awesome. Very simple and I imagine an unroot is done by simply removing the su binary. Still trying to wrap my head around all there is to offer.
So far I've been able to remove the wifi ongoing notification and add a wifi toggle to the notification pulldown. I don't think I plan on doing much else to be honest, but I'd love if someone can throw out some more recommendations/tweaks.
So with root, are there any cool security apps that takes advantage of root? Is there such thing as a lost-phone app that stays hidden, maybe even sticks around after someone tries a factory reset?
Thanks everyone.
There is an app like that, hides and I think not sure still there even threw a factory reset, but sure,I believe I read it done time ago in the x2 forum..sorry I'll look see if I can find it for you been awhile sorry...

I believe you can adb push the Cerberus app to system\app which makes it stay even after a factory reset. It has the ability to gps locate your phone or wipe data, and more.

Tell him to try this:

Or he can try doing a factory reset in the privacy menu in setting s that worked for me.

Yeah factory reset from the the phone works best.

my phone freezes up multiple times a day and i have to take out the battery in order to get it to work. Does anyone else have this problem?
What are you running
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I have not experienced that. A bit of information might help others to possibly help you, though. Can you tell us what ROM you're using, if the problem started recently, if it started after you installed a certain app, if you're over clocking or under clocking, and if you've tried to do a factory data reset?
Im running stock. The last time i tried to install a rom i ended up with the picture in the attachment. So i took it to the local T-Mobile kiosk and they replaced it for me. i re-rooted it but didnt rom it at all. And its been like this since i got the replacement phone. never had the problem before. (this was a week ago)
Pretty picture. Kidding, of course. Reminds me of messing with interlaced graphics on my old Amiga.
If it's been doing it since you got it chances are it's probably a hardware issue. I've not heard of rooting causing issues like that. Did you install any apps after you got it, specifically anything that runs/syncs in the background?
Nothing i didnt have on before. umm.. Go SMS and Launcher, Widget Locker...
I'd go the factory data reset route & not install any apps for a day or so and see how it runs. If all is OK, start reinstalling your apps 1 x 1, give each app a day to see if the problem starts up.
If you do a factory data reset and it's still doing it, then it's probably faulty hardware.
Yeah try a factory reset and see how that does. The rainbow screen looks like a gingerbread rom without the correct bootloaders.

So that's the mysterious rainbow screen I keep reading about. Thanks, because I had no idea what it looked like (thank goodness). The bottom part reminds me of Poltergeist "Don't go into the light..."
Is this new phone they gave you refurbished?
I used to have that problem all the time when i was stock... New ROM and it went bye bye...
Hah that picture you got there reminds me of when i stupidly flashed a gb kernel on froyo... still fixed it and matter of factly I'm using the same device right now were all newbs at some point, don't let it discourage you, just take it as a lesson learned and be more careful next time

Every reset and some times when I kill tasks I loose all my program defaults. Trying to ignore then on list not enough it still happens. Its different programs each time. Launcher then my phone then contacts. Have redo the defaults. Any clue how make sure stops. Is because apps on as card?

Stop killing tasks and learn how android works. Smh. How many threads are you going to open where you don't heed any advice?

I have listened. I learned how to use my sd card. I fixed network issues. Also stream lined my apps. No double apps. I even managed more ram. I'm happy. I use a auto kill so doubt its doing it because I safe everything. My only issues now.
1. Google maps keeps deleting its self
2. My go locker changes
When this happens is at random. Doesn't seem be anything app doing it. I'm thinking its my Rom possibly. Bone. Skeeter
Doing my best bro. My phone is my only computer. Hard to read up as well as on a computer.
Thanks for the help.

So odd I tried one app at a time. Might have start over with fresh rom. Its not bad problem just annoying. It deletes two random apps every restart. Thank god for titanium back up

I have no idea what you are doing but I loose nothing over device resets. Period. Explain in detail exactly what you are doing, what ROM you are running, what launcher you are using and a list of 3rd party apps you are running.

sounds to me like hes running apps on sd which is unnecessary and causes more harm than good.

There's a possiblity the touch screen is starting to go out. What I would do first off is factory data reset, because there's also the possibility its a program interfering. After fdr, if the problem still exists, then that rules out the possibility of program interference. You'll need to get in contact with vzw and tech support will tell you to factory data reset yet again, and then send you a replacement
It's not your digitizer if the touch is working fine elsewhere. Your framework apk is likely corrupted, but not enough to warrant a force close, which is why you can see the dropdown bar but not pull it down. I would try flashing a stock ROM, or if you're not comfortable with that taking it back to Verizon.

Agreed. But I should mention that systemui controls status bar. But a factory reset should fix the problem.

Hey y'all,
I have an Optimus f3 and I am having some issues with the notification bar flickering as if it was being pulled down rapidly. I have searched countless places (mainly Google) and I have come up with nothing on anything even remotely close to my problem.
Thanks in advance if you can help

I'm having a problem that isn't quite similar, but may prove relevant. Also on a f3.
My notification bar completely disappeared, and and has reappeared for around four to six hours at a time once now, for no apparent reason. Some other things. 1. Wallpaper switches between my selected and stock/default.
2. com.android.systemui stopped a few times.
3. Can't access recent apps via long press of home hardware button.
4. Sporadic notification, sometimes they work, others not. However, system ones like low battery never do.
5. Is factory resistant.
I hope maybe these issues could help with yours.

Dude, Need Not Worry That's Normal. Just Factory Rest Your Device and It Will All Work Fine.
Wish it was that easy. I did a factory reset and it still does it. I did a hard reset too lol

Is your phone still doing its flickering bar thing?
As of right this minute, no. But the phone has been sitting for a while. Im about to unroot and give it a few days of use and then see if it still has the problem

If you're still having this problem, you could try following the unbrick guide (flashing LG's ROM in emergency mode). You may want to install recovery and wipe what you can first to fully clear out as much as possible, as the unbrick method doesn't actually wipe your user data (which may be part of the problem).
