Help Data usage - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Ok Just upgraded. Why is my skyrocket reporting 28 mb for running 2 speedtests...... WTH ? Usage seems way out of whack.. Im using my data manager to check it... my cappy never went this big....

Are you syncing gmail/email or installing from the play store?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727R running SKY-ICS 4.2F6-2.6.1

I'm pretty sure speed tests downloads about as much as you stated.

Yeah its kinda obvious that if you're testing speeds it will use a considerable amount of data. You wont get an accurate reading without downloading a big file size. I remember speed testing in an LTE area and I burned through 60mb of data after a few tests.

No watched it over last two days. Its rooted. All PGms installed from tibu
Running Droid wall to block all other crap. I just don't get the huge file sizes my power amp downloaded 3 album art @ 28 MB.... speed test was sending 14+ MB file sizes. Pgms that were usually not pulling large amounts on my other phone now seem to be data hogs. This is set up exactly like my. Cappy and I was pulling 30-50 a day with moderate usage.. now under barely using it I'm over 100 a day.....

your data speed will be slowed for the remainder of the cycle.

Any body else use over 5gigs of data

Happened to me too. Im only about 5 days into my cycle too so I have a while to wait before I get my regular speeds back. I think I only used 2.5 gigs though.

Battery drain from "dialer"

I'm experiencing serious battery drain on my ROM'd phone. When I go into Spare Parts under the "network" pulldown menu, the object using the most amount of data is "Dialer." This doesn't make any sense since I've only made about 15 minutes of phone calls all day. My hypothesis is that the dialer is pinging the network all day, draining the battery. Why is it doing this and how do I fix the issue?

The data in Spare Parts is accurate. I can say with great certainty that the Dialer showing up as the number one user of the network is indicative of a problem.
Does anyone have a real solution?
Its from assisted dialing, tell HTC and phone finder, turn them off

Not sure if this is related, but according to My Data Manager, dialer has used about 75MB of data over the two weeks I've been using it. Kind of odd as I've made/received about 5 calls the whole time.

My phone has been unplugged for 5 hours and I've made zero calls, but dialer states I've received 10 mb of data.
In comparison, the next highest network usage belongs to Touchdown. I've received almost 40 emails and it's only used 1 mb. How can dialer NOT be a problem?

I am, indeed, running Froyo Eclipse, but not the version that came out yesterday, the version before that. How much data is your dialer using?

I am in the same situation. My dialer is also using the most network resources. I use Go Dialer. I wonder if that could be the cause. I'll delete it and see if it makes a difference.

If you click on dialer in spare parts it gives you more details. What do you have under "packages sharing this UID"? Perhaps that will give a clue.
For reference, I have seven shared UIDs (on Humble 1.42) and not experiencing this problem. 2.5MB used in 12 hours with numerous calls.
I also noticed an app named "0" using some data. Anyone know what that is? If I click on it I get a force close of "settings".
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
also running Humble 1.42 and have 7 UIDs linked to Dialer yet it still is taking up the most Network Usage.
I'm at 9.6MB after 6 hours with only 5 short (less that 1 min) phone calls.
I'm also seeing dialer as having the most network usage. However, I'm running stock deodexed ee4 with the latest pb&j kernel.

I just looked at my friend's Charge, which is completely stock and loaded up Spare Parts. His phone has Dialer as the #1 user of network, but after 10 hours off the charger (but only 30 minutes of 'display on' time), he still had about 45% of his battery left.
His dialer said that he had used 28 MB of data.
My conclusion is that if his stock phone is using as much data as my ROM'd phone under "Dialer," then the battery drain issue must have more to do with the amount of time my screen is on rather than with the "dialer" being the #1 network consumer.
I assume that "dialer" consumes a ton of data for everyone. Maybe some people could report how many MB their phone has used along with the amount of time their phone has been unplugged. This will give us an idea if there is an error or not.
I also have 7 UIDs sharing, but have the problem on Eclipse ROM. My guess is it's normal for dialer to use this data.
So then, this begs the question "what is 'dialer'" and why is it consuming data? By the way, it consumes data even if mobile networks are off (it just does so at a slower rate).
I froze 'Phone' and use RocketDial as my primary dialer now and I've still got the same problem, guess it's just how the phone apps work.

Battery Usage

Sup guys,
I was curious to know while actually using your charge how fast does your device drain the battery. I know it can vary depending on what your doing (video streaming etc) but lets use web browsing as a example. Looks like I lose 1 percent every 3 mins. Does this sound normal?

Last time I tried that it messed with my data connection and completely killed it to the point of wiping data...
You should be able to get 2-3hrs of screen on time per charge cycle. This is also dependent on what you are doing when the screen is on, and also how much your phone is doing with the screen off as well.
Which thing messed with ur data? The battery saver? I had that problem with other battery savers (juice defender, battery doctor) but no problem at all with AnTutus battery saver.

I go 100MHz-800MHz conservative, and almost all my apps run smoothly. If something like an intensive game needs more juice i go 1.2GHz and smartassv2. Ondemand is junk don't use it.
EDIT: I just went 12 hours 29 mins from full to completely dead (powered off) with 2 hours 23 mins of screen on, much of that was heavy web browsing (lots of tabs on Opera) and gaming.

Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA
Interesting. I run TS1.4 w/ PBJ (no ext4) and I went through a number of settings and I could not get sav2 or sio to be lag free. The combination of ondemand and noop yields the best performance for me. Now if I happen to have 5 or more apps going then RAM becomes and issue and I have to march out w/ task killer.
I also 100/1200 for CPU settings, no volt modification.
Up until the latest google maps update last weekend, I have the sensor thingy killing my battery every few days, and that has seemed to clear up.
I also bought one of those extended batteries from ebay w/ 3500Mah and it is a beast (last 1.5 days easy), however a bad result of that is that it interferes w/ the BT and Wifi reception to the tune of -20db so it makes a marginal connection crap. It looks like the charge antenna is on the right, right next to the battery, and the beast sticking out is messing w/ the signal. I am going to try a few different materials over the battery to see if I can sort it out.
It is almost fearsome how quickly the stock battery drains...I mean if I am out work and going out until 3AM, no way it will last unless I use the beast.

Weather Channel, turned sync as low as possible to the point where there is nothing in my status bar and I go into the app to check it.
Friendcaster set on 1 hour updates.
Also no latitude!! Make sure you are signed out of latitude in Maps and never open that app. It updates your location to google which wakes the phone and stuff.

There is a rogue app in your drawer. download watchlist app, it will keep track on other apps which are hogging your system.
Battery calibration won't and doesn't do anything useful... its more then likely an app or something running constantly. What's your screen on times? Post a screenshot of your battery usage.

Usually the temperature of my phone is around 26-30C. But as soon as I start browsing or use any internet based app (like Facebook) with 3G, Bam! Temperature of the phone shoots beyond 42C.. I hardly takes 5 mins to move from 30C to 42C.
So I was just wondering if it's normal or something can be done to keep a check of temperature.
