Desire S HBOOT 2.00 to 0.98 - HTC Desire S

Hi,
I m new here but have been following threads about downgrading the desire s hboot from 2.00 to 0.98. I have been trying many instructions given on this forum but none did work. My desire s is has an unlocked bootloader by the HTCDev tool provided by htc. can someone direct me to a good thread about this topic please? Also how do you find the correct RUU for your device?

You can find a list of RUU in the index thread. RUU depends on the region or carrier you bought it from. So choose RUU carefully to avoid consequence ahead.

Yes i have downloaded one of them but when i tried to install it by running the setup in windows it told me that it was the wrong one for my device. I assumed my is a Europe region since i bought it from malta and it is not branded

I did everything to the letter as your sig says but the HBOOT remained 2.00
the RUU i used is the RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_219480_signed.exe one. Since i'm in europe and my htc is not branded. Thanks for your reply, this is as closest as i got so far.

Next time before following a guide check some of the comments. At page 10 there was a guy making the same mistake as you do. The solution is there as well

Do not flash the European rom!! see in the RUU thread which one has the same number as your current at the third set of numbers (example 2.1.401.8) and install it.

Ok I think that you have a leaked development device. Maybe you got it cheap but there is a chance that some things may not work the same way as our market phones. But I am sure the chance is not so big.
Now you have to find out what version is your phone and use a RUU to put a not watermarked software on it.
To do that you have to setup adb and fastboot (link in my signature). Then you have to enable USB Debugging option in the Developer's settings, connect the phone to the PC, open command prompt and type the following commands:
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot getvar version-main
fastboot getvar cidnum
Note: after the first adb command the phone will restart and you should see "FASTBOOT USB" written on a white background along some other options before proceeding with the fastboot commandsx.
Then post the output of the fastboot commands here (the first should be a number like 2.10.401.5, the second looks like HTC__001 or VODAxxxx or TMOBxxxx, or something similar, 8 characters in total.
Also post here the words on the top of the white screen that should look like this:
Code:
***LOCKED***
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
Hboot – 2.00.0002
Radio – 3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC-boot
When you provide this information I will give you a link to a file that you will start on your PC and it will put a normal, not watermarked software on your phone. During this process you will lose all your data as apps, contacts, SMS and calendar events, so keep this in mind and make backups (use your Google account or backup apps from the Play Store.

[Q] install New RUU

Good day
I got my new sensation 2 days ago i need to install new RUU on the device but i don't know where to start and what to do
plz i need help thxx
You can't flash an RUU that's different from you original version. It's been covered SO many times before it's not funny.
What RUU are you trying to flash and what ROM is currently on your phone?
im trying to install "RUU_Pyramid_HTC_ARA_1.34.415.1"
and idon't know what is the current RUU on my device
my problem is :
i want to add arabic support to my device , when i run the RUU it can't discover the device, my device is connects and set to USB disk drive
You can't do it. To find the version on your handset go to Settings>About phone>Software information
And it shouldn't be connected in Disk Drive mode to run an RUU - you set it to HTC Sync (and you need HTC Sync installed on your PC)
Android Version 2.3.3
Software number 1.35.720.1
Kernal 2.6.35.10-g9cef70d
and if i can't how can i install arabic support on device??
You can't, simple as that. You need to wait until we have root access to flash a new ROM which has Arabic support built into it. Might be weeks yet
as mentioned above, you just can't at the moment, for arabic webpages however you can download Firefox which renders arabic websites without a problem, I know that doesn't solve all the problems though, the facebook app for instance can't ready arabic unless it's supported natively by the rom, don't worry though, once HTC releases its S-off update all will be fine.

So it also won't be possible to flash the "RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.35.401.1_Radio_10.43a.900 7.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3_release_198179_signed"
to a 1.34.206.1 (Europe) device, right? =(
or is there a possibility to do this?
Would be really nice to get that unbranded version to my phone cause I really dislike waiting weeks or longer for a new branded version every time a new software version is released.. :/
That's correct, you can't debrand until we have full root access
Not what I've wanted to read but thanks for the answer :')
I hope that will change soon

To use ICS you either need to flash an RUU or update the firmware if you want to use the ARHD ROM that you linked to.
Assuming you've done SuperCID then just move on to the step that says 'Upgrading the firmware' and follow until you get to the part that says 'Flashing the ROM'.

Fortunately, this is a Development forum and not a let's-spoon-feed everyone-who-asks-a-question forum. You have to learn because if you don't, you'll ruin your phone just like now. There is no "1 click ROM flashing". Not many people have time to answer everyone's individual questions. But thankfully I do. I am making this quick and simple. If you don't know something, Google is your friend.
1)You know how to boot into HBOOT, or the bootloader? Do just that.
2) Connect your phone to your computer. You must have all the ADB and SDK drivers installed.
3)Navigate to "Fastboot" using your phones Volume UP and DOWN keys until you reach fastboot. Select using the power button.
4) Go into cmd in Windows.
5)Type the following:
cd C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
6)Type the following:
adb getvar cid
7) Remember what the previous command just told you. It could be HTC_001 for example.
8)Thanks to this dev, go to this thread. Find this in the first post:
Firmware from 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x RUU
9)See if your CID is listed. If it is not, DO NOT TRY FLASHING THIS. If it is, download the file and flash in HBOOT using the PG58IMG.zip method. Make sure it isn't called PG58IMG.zip.zip.
10) If it isn't listed, use STEP 4 in this post, then flash it.
RE-POST THIS!!! Save devs time to building ROMs and save hassle.
And also thank me for spending a whole 30mins on this guide. Thankyou.

Ok this guy ^^^ is right.
1) Download the all-in-one kit by hasoon2000 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952426
2) Make sure you have the correct HTC drivers installed.
3) Open the toolkit and run step 2b. Motochopper (3.18). Keep in mind you need USB debugging mode on and the fast boot option in your phone's settings off.
4) Run the Get Token ID step in the toolkit.
5) Copy your ID from the command prompt and then go to htcdev.com, register, and then follow the steps provided by HTC to unlock your bootloader.
Pretty straightforward but sometimes it just helps when someone spells it out for you.

Is there a reason you wanna root the phone? Or you just doing it because it can be done? It's really a simple process. I'd read more before trying, the answers u have been given are more than is even needed to get it done. Some people really shouldn't root their device. That's why they come locked. So people without the knowledge or skill set dont trash the phone. If you read redpoints tutorial it has everything you need. He spent a lot of time making it so newbs could get it done without being spoon fed. Read it twice, and by read I don't mean skim looking for the section u think you need. And if you are still unsure read it again. It's crazy the amount of people who ask the same questions over and over again because reading and learning on your own is too time consuming.
Ok I'm better after venting a little lol

If the phone is refurbished (which most probably is, like mine when was replaced due to a cracked screen), the bootloader cannot get unlocked. I have this as an official HTC reply. The reason is there is a mismatch between the phone's IMEI and serial number of the device and their serverscannot cope with that, resulting in the wrong token being generated

Return to stock

Hello xda members,
I ran into a problem the other day. My nandroid is no longer with me due to a defective hard drive . I now decided I want to return to stock to sell the phone.
I'm on hboot 1.27 and iam s off.
I want to flash an ruu, the phone is the Europe/international version. These forums are so big that I do not know where to start looking for ruu's, neither do I know what type I need since I have numberous phones and always kept a nandroid ..
Is there anyone that can either push me I'm the right direction or even give me a link to an htc ruu website?
Thanks in advance.

Is there anyone that can either push me I'm the right direction or even give me a link to an htc ruu website?
Thanks in advance.

I've come this far:
My cid is VODAPE17
and my version main is 3.32.401.5
All I can find is europe RUU's, with a different radio. Are these safe to flash?

Hello xda members,
I ran into a problem the other day. My nandroid is no longer with me due to a defective hard drive . I now decided I want to return to stock to sell the phone.

Since your phone is s-off you can write supercid to it and choose any RUU, but stick with the latest WWE ones.
EDIT:
After supercid I suggest this one:
RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.33.401.53_Radio_11.76A.3504.00U_11.24A.3504.31_M_release_280871_signed.exe
