Quickpic. - Android Apps and Games

I'm having issues with quickpic and was wondering if anyone else had the problem or have a solution. The other day I spent a ton of time "excluding" all the files and folders oF my dropbox and other random files. I open up quickpic and bam! They are all showing again. I haven't flashed a new rom or done anything of the sorts. I just don't understand why it keeps doing it to me and its getting annoying :/ help anyone?

Did you try to uninstall and install Quickpic back? I think that should help, however I`ve never had that problem.

Well it stayed the same after I deleted it so lets see in a few days if they stay excluded :/

Just put a password on it so no one can accidentally see all you porn.

In stead of excluding folders (sounds very time consuming), just set it to scan certain folders only. It'll be faster, and you do not run by this risk of something showing up by accident. If excluding and you just change a folder name or if a mount point changes, they will show again.
Mine's just watching camera folder, pics, downloads, and movies. Simple, fast, and I'm in control.
An other advice:
In those few "watched" folders, add folders with a .nomedia file inside. Then stick all the sensitive stuff in there. It'll be hidden in your gallery every time you open quickpic, but you can get them to show up with a few buttons press (settings, show hidden)
They will be hidden automatically next time you open quickpic.
Nice if you got sensitive shots of your missus that you wanna keep for your eyes only, or if you got lots of system png's for customising gui, but you don't want them to clutter your gallery..

Yeah I use hidden folders for a lot of my icons and such my phone card is unorganized and stuff so my folders are just confusing xD

Somethings gone wrong on my quickpic and the way it handles dropbox photos.
I used to just have one dropbox folder showing, camera uploads, than last week or started showing loads of other folders from dropbox which I didn't want.
I deleted the cache on both apps and now it won't display anything at all from my dropbox account.
Does anyone know how to get quickpic to show dropbox files again?

Photos keeps copying by itself

I transfered some pictures from my mac to the captivate... After a while when i go in the gallery app my pictures are getting duplicated many times... Far as 5x each... And when i try to delete them it takes ages and i have to close the app or else it eats my battery... Anyone is having the same problem?

Photo Dupes
Here is a post from cgm8 (10th December 2010). See if it resolves your problem.
Ok..here is the fix from other thread
With root explorer delete:
- /dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.media/externalXXX.db
- /sdcard/Android/data/com.cooliris.media
reboot
Good luck
photos keep duplicating themselves.
I too had the same issue. I would have 5 copies of each picture in my gallery. I was hesitant to delete the files recommended below with Root Explorer so I just used Root Explorer to rename the files (removed the db on one and the word media on the other) rebooted and many of the dupls disappeared on their own, the originals were fine. We'll see if it lasts.. also, anything I really did want to delete manually deleted very quickly.
I found the easiest way to deal with this is to go into manage applications>all>media storage>clear data...then reboot
problem solved..
I just downloaded sgs tools for captivate then apply the script "clear_thumb_db.txt"
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Any idea as to what causes this?
well i fixed it using the manage apps option above.. just a few hours after it happened to me.. talk about timing!
This always happens to me if I root/unroot the phone with my sdcard in. If I take it out before hand its fine.
I just mount my phone and open all the massstorages and delete the thumbnail files in the DCIM folders and that works fine. You have to understand all the copies you see are thumbnails and deleting via the phone thru gallery can delete the real image...
i have never un-rooted..

gallery app - subfolders

I want a gallery app that doesn't just clump every folder with pictures in it in to root gallery.
For example:
/album/pets/cat
/album/pets/dog
/album/pets/fish
In the stock app (and all others I've tried) will put cat, dog, fish right in the main gallery. I just want to see a subfolder called pets.
Looking at my photos and directory structure on a computer, my files are neat and well organized. In gallery it takes forever to find what I'm looking for.
I've tried just about every app out there, and even sent feature requests to several authors. The author of Quickpic said he'd consider it. Thats about the furthest I've got.
Any other suggestions?
You should check out JustPictures. It's in the market. I've been using it for a while, and it's great.
Or also QuickPics also in the market
I should of listed the ones I've tried. JustPictures and Quickpics behaves the same as the stock app regarding folder structure.
I actually emailed both devs about adding that feature..

Maybe it'll get added to QuickPic, I emailed the dev about that too - or at least a tag type of implementation where I could tag my folders and sort by the tags. QuickPic is still a great app.
EDIT: You can sort by path in QuickPic, but all of the folders are still on one screen. Example: If you have:
/colors, then
/colors/blue
/colors/green
/colors/red
-and-
/pets, then
/pets/cats
/pets/dogs
/pets/fish
The folders will show up in this order: blue, green, red, cats, dogs, fish. At least common folders will be grouped near the others in the same parent directory. I believe this feature was implemented in the latest update.

Cool, I knew I couldnt be the only one that organizes by folders.
My real pain is I have a folder called work where I keep all my work related stuff. Theres a ton of stuff and all the subfoloders clutter up the main gallery view..

If you use that folder more than any other, there's also an option to automatically open the app to the last opened folder when you launch the app. If you need a different folder, you just hit the back button.
The MIUI gallery is awesome because it has three views -Favorites, All Folders, and SD card - that are tabs at the top of the app. I use QuickPic for certain things, but the MIUI gallery is my default gallery because I put the 3-5 folders I use the most on the favorites tab, so usually that's all I need. If QuickPic could do something like this, it'd be my default.
EDIT: Just realized your problem is with the work folder's subfolders, not with having to go through everything to get to the work folder. You could exclude the work folder (and it's subfolders) in QuickPic, and use the stock gallery for work stuff. That way the work stuff doesn't get in the way with QuickPic. I'm still hoping for a folder-tree type of listing.

Those **Private** Pictures

Hello!
I have tried multiple app without success. Someone know a Good App to Encrypt those **Private** (cough...porn) pictures that sometimes we take with our excellent Infuse Camera???
well the simple solution is to use the built in file browser and move the pictures to any other folder, then put a file in there with the name .nomedia
Doing this will stop the media scanner from scanning the folder and showing up in the gallery or player apps. Of course this doesn't encrypt them, but it still lets you open them from your file browser of choice. The caveat is that if anyone else gets in there or plugs your phone in to a computer, there may be a chance at finding them.
Nice...
Photo vault works. It's a couple bucks but if you uninstall it or reset you're phone, you have to make them public first or you will lose them

vaulty it moves then into a folder & adds .txt to the end(so secure )
you wont lose on new flash just reinstall vaulty
just reminded me to get it

HAHA i do that, except i put them in box.net
I use hidden media for all my private stuff. Just adds a nomedia file to any folders so they don't show up in the gallery

I use an app called HideNSeek. It's a down low file app disguised as a flashlight.. lol works wonderfully...

The app ZDbox lets you lock certain apps (along with various other features). Just put a lock code on your gallery and maybe even your camera and you're good to go.

I think your box.net answer is the only good one. As for those pics there is soooooo many ways to access files on your phone, file browser, root explorer, astro file, etc. etc... If someone wanted to find them they could. So if its important to encrypt them or make sure no one sees them the only answer is to "get them off your phone"!! I personally use dropbox for the not so good for the family to view pics and I don't have my password saved so I must enter it everytime I login, they are safe, secure, follow me to any device, and I'm happy. Not to sound at all like an iphone fanboy but apple wins in this category, I miss my photo vault app, touche little piece of fruit... lol

Agree!! The only piece I miss from IP4 is PhotoVault.
Rename the Folder
You can also rename the folder with the "confidential" pictures adding a . at the beginning... In my case my folder's called ".databases" (yeah the less interesting name the better)...
Whenever it's showtime just remove the . and the images/movies will be found by the Media Scanner on the phone...
When you add the . they'll dissappear... Since this complies with linux's way of hidding folders, if you mount the phone into a linux/osx pc you retain the hidden property ;-) Windows is an entirely different matter though

Hiding Pics from the Gallery??

Hey guys:
I've got tons of comicbooks on my storage card that keeps showing up as individual folders in my picture gallery. I know I could drop a "no media" file in the main folder to stop it, but then my other apps wont read anything in that folder as well correct? Is their any way to exclude the comicbook folder from the gallery?
thanks

call me crazy, but I have a feeling the easiest solution is to create a .nomedia file and put it in the folder you want to hide.... ooooor I could be 100% wrong.

This does not solve your problem, but may be an alternate solution. I use a gallery replacement called QuickPic. Inside of QuickPic you can choose which folders are hidden so you only see the ones you want.

I've heard of QuickPic. But I really like the stock Gallery. And if I put a no media file in that folder,, my comicbook reader apps wont see the files either right?
Actually, all you have to do is rename the folder or file and put a "." at the start of the name. So a folder called "my_pron" renamed ".my_pron" won't show up
It's probably worth noting that you should do the rename on your tab and not from your PC, I had problems with it not working when I did it via my PC, that's why I mention it. I used Astro File manager and it works just fine.

It's a program designed to be more along the lines of hiding naughty things, but it would allow you to move all your comics into a side gallery type section, plus once their there you can subdivide them into their own folders AGAIN so that you have individual comics in mini-galleries, with sorting by name or date possible to make for easy ordering.

Noteworthy item is that with the EI22 update yesterday, my app got wiped with the rest of my phone, but upon re-installing it and going through new-startup steps it found the SD card data from my previous installation - yay SD card!

I have a app similar to this called Hide & Sneek. But I have to unhide pics everytime I need to use it. Will Keep safe allow me to hide the comics just from the Gallery , but let them be used in the Combook reader?

lol. Not worried bout the porn pics. But when I have to scroll through the gallery to find the folders my real pics are in, its kinda annoying. See the attached.

[Q] cancerous thumbnail file

My .thumbnail file in .DCIM keeps expanding to fill all available space, preventing me from taking pictures and causing the system to become unstable. Today, ".thumbdata3--1967290299" was up to 3.5 gb. I delete it every time, but it grows back after the next reboot. Whether I delete the folder, the files itself, doesn't matter. I do have a lot of large pictures on the external SD card (not taken with the camera on the phone), which is perhaps the reason thumbnail is growing so large.
I used titanium backup pro to freeze gallery, but then I can't take pictures with the camera.
Judging from google search and a search across all XDA forums, this is not specific to the skyrocket, or the rom I'm running (cyanogenmod 10). I'm not coming across any specific solutions though other than delete them. There was one suggestion to setup a program to automatically delete the file, however that seems... inelegant.
I've also switched to using quickpic instead of the stock gallery option, but again that does nothing.
I tried naming a notepad document to .thumbnails to prevent android from making a .thumbnails file, but windows wouldn't let me.
Mediascanner seems to go nuts every time I turn on my phone after deleting the old file, the phone is warm to the touch, and BetterBatteryStats indicates it's running the cpu at 1.51 GHz for 15 to 20 minutes after boot. I'm going to try disabling media scanner to see if that prevents thumbnail from being built up, but I was wondering if anyone had any other fixes or suggestions. Like if there was any way to set a maximum file size on the thumbnail file, or if there was a way to disable the stock gallery without compromising camera functionality.
The solution I suggest will help with your media scanner issues but your photos will no longer be visible in the gallery.
Go to the folder you keep your photos in and use a file explorer app like root explorer to create an empty file named .nomedia
This tells the android media scanner to skip that folder. If you have folders inside folders, place a .nomedia file in each folder.

If media scanner has already detected said files, will it still show up in either Gallery or Quickpik? And will new pictures I take be added to either without media scanner?

I am pretty sure already scanned pics will be gone. As for new pics, I don't know. You just have to try it yourself.

Update: rescan media root, preventing media scanner from going every time the phone reboots, seems to have fixed it. Camera function is not compromised, nor are pictures hidden from quickpik.

I was just going to recommend that. It seems to have helped me keep boot times down and help with battery life.
