Please help - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Ok, so today my niece had spilt milk al over my phone while I was baby sitting. I thought everything was fine when it booted up and my stuff was working, ect. But, as I got home, I notice that now my phone can charge, but will not allow me to mount USB. I can't use ODIN to flash back to stock so i can send it back, either. So...
Does anyone have the Stock firmware (any) in a flashable ZIP, alone with the Stock recovery in a flashable ZIP?

I'm not sure about stock recovery but a stock cwm flashable firmware can be found in one of Vincoms stickies in my sig.

Well your mistake was turning it on without rice drying for 24 hours. And no without Odin you can't get stock recovery.

The thing was, it was on. After the milk got on it, I pulled the battery then examined it. There was like nothing in it, except a few small wet spots. I mean, the water/liquid sensor didn't even trip. So, what I mean by sending it back is calling ATT and having them ship me a new one.

You have a warranty with them? If that's the route you want to go then although incredibly impractical you could have it jtagged. Mobile tech videos also does repairs. You could shoot them an email describing your issue and possibly get it fixed for like $30

Or since you are still in the return window call Att tell them you were upgrading to ics via Samsung kies and right in the middle it locked up and the phone shut off and will not come back on. Then if they ship you a new one before boxing your old one up download a stock cwm flash able rom for any other Samsung phone the i777 or something close to ours and flash it and brick the phone box it up and send it back and pray like hell they just wipe it and don't check it....

You could do that but I wouldn't recommend it. The phone is still usable. You should be able to get it repaired. Its putting a lot of faith in att. If you break it and they don't replace it then you are left with no phone and paying out of pocket for a new one. Although I believe your idea would in fact work, its still a big risk imo

I have the one that the guy said he'd post the recovery.
I had TWRP on, now I downloaded the same recovery it was made for, CWM 5.5.0.4. So far, the same thing. It just hangs.

Well, now if I get that recovery, I can just say after trying to flash the update on ATT, it just froze up.

Just picked up my G3, rooted and unlocked bootloader as soon as i got home. Downloaded one of the jelly bean roms and cwm, did a backup then flashed the rom. Everything looked fine but the screen went dark after the boot animation then nothing. Wont power up or reset using the power home volume combo. What the heck do i do now, thanks for any help.
Might be a stupid question, but have you pulled the battery?
Be more specific.
VZW GALAXY S 3 4G LTE
Do YOUR homework first
How about reading all the threads about unbricking. It certainly seems you did not read all the threads about rooting the phone. Do that too.
Finally, and I know this is not that helpful. Don't screw with a new phone. Use it at least for a month to make sure there are no problems with it.
That being said, there is plenty of information about how to handle your problem here in xda. Read all that and try what has already been posted before asking people to solve your self inflicted problem.
BTW when you do ask for help specify exactly what you did, with what script. I.E. don't ask someone to solve your problem without you taking the time to be very specific about how you got there.
pull the battery and go into recovery or odin and fix it.
Dead battery?

Skubacb - Don't be a douche buddy. If you do not have any thing to add then shut the **** up.
With that being said I have been rooting phones for years, never had an issue when I couldn't get the phone to at least go into recovery. The phone is dead. Battery was fully charged and I have done a battery pull. It is a Verizon G3. I have read the unbrick articles but none explain if the phone will not boot into recovery. If someone could could just point me in the correct direction I would greatly appreciate it.
How did you actually do the flash? Odin? Some other way? As noted, more details are needed.
I flashed the new rom using Rom manager, went in to revovery and flashed it

I don't believe rom manager is supported for our phone yet. U need to flash straight from recovery. That said I'm sorry I'm not sure where u go from here.

If you can't get into either recovery , or download mode you maybe SOL. However I would take this to IRC and see if someone can help on there. #verizons3 channel.
If the phone is under warranty, one other alternate solution is to take it into a VZW store and say it won't start. Of course I'd only go that route if I couldn't get it going any other way. On the plus side, your could at least confirm that battery didn't die on you.
Looks like you forgot to flash the insecure bootloader, buddy.

I'm gonna go with this one (possibly). Did you unlock the phone? Sorry, did you say it won't boot into anything? Download/Odin mode? Recovery? Anything at all when you do the vol up/down, home key, and power button?
Idk if this would help but I'd order a downloader jig off ebay for a couple dollars and use that to see if it'll boot to recovery

I went to turn on my Verizon SGS3 on this morning and nothing happened. I have not even rooted it yet. It was charged when I turned it off 5 minutes before that and even did a battery swap. Phone is completely dead. Will not turn on. I have had it since it first came out, so I called Verizon and they are over-nighting me a "like-new" one. I hope I don't hear more of these stories.

I had a similar issue. If you do the volume/home/power combo (try both volume buttons separately, i forgot which one worked) and hold them through the initial Samsung logo it should put you into download mode, where you can Odin back to stock. I used PureMotive's Unbrick method in the Dev section (I think) and it took all of 20 min. Just make sure to follow the directions carefully.

[Q] Help, SHG-I727R might be bricked

Hello, I have had a Samsung Galaxy S II LTE from Rogers for three months now and it suddenly stopped working after trying to make a phone call.
The firmware was the Gingerbread 2.3.6 I believe (The most current firmware before ICS for the SGH-I727R)
There has been a history of attemping to install Cyanogenmod 10, but I had Clockwork Recovery installed and I was never able to install Cyanogenmod 10 because it gave me errors.
So I used Odin and an official release from Rogers to restore back to Gingerbread.
A month later, this is where I am at.
Status:
I can boot as far as the Carrier logo before going blank and vibrating every 2 - 3 seconds
I can go into download and recovery mode for 5 seconds before being met with a quick flash of a blue screen.
The phone randomly vibrates when a battery is inserted, when it is being charged, or a combination of the two
The battery needs to be taken out and placed back in before attempting a normal, download or recovery boot.
I also do not know if Samsung can tell, as there is no Clockwork Mod or any left over roms or Superuser permissions.
What should I do? Thanks!
If you do a battery pull and reinsert it, does the phone start to boot on it's own without any button pushs

Sounds like a stuck power button. I'd try pushing it on and off a ton and see if that clears it. Reinserting the battery shouldn't do anything until you push the power button. If all else fails.... Bring it back.

Just show them how it starts to boot on it's own. They should recognize the issue. If the phone never fully boots they can't see what's on there. And if you've never used Odin then the flash counter has never been incremented.

if you restored to stock w/odin then you are fine, it wipes over previous roms/recoveries/rooting and "no one" would be able to see that you had previously installed custom roms or that the phone was rooted.
using odin does "not" increase the flash counter, using certain modified stock firmware like k0anes stock rom which you would use odin to install would increase your flash counter, but thats from an old thread and no one else has made a odin flashable stock rom since then, all the latest recovery flashable roms(zip files) would not increase the flash counter.
you are good to go for warranty repair, maybe wipe your internal sdcard if you can and take out your sdcard
My phone is currently experiencing same problem as the OP. :crying: Please don't tell me bringing it back to Rogers is the only option. My 1 year warranty might be expired already.
A quick update. I went to the store and they said that they would take it. They tried to fix the button with an exacto knife. I wasn't ready to send it in yet so I waited a few hours. I tried again and I was able to boot it properly. So, there is nothing wrong with the software. To those who might be having the same issues, check your power button first before sending it in.
Thanks for the help!

Hi I had a similar issue. I'ts most likely the power button. If you're willing to open up the device and clean the power button area try that.
If you're still under warranty, try to send it in for a repair.
Here is some info on my situation:

Here is info that was helpful to me.
vincom said:
its 99% the power button, hearing it click is no indication thats its working as its an internal problem, theres 3 links to the problem in the "info" section in the "1 stop" sticky in my sig . taking it apart to get to the internal contact is one way to fix it, maybe the only way to fix it. if phone starts as soon as you put the battery in w/out touching any buttons then its a sticky/failed power button. warranty repair is also another solution
its 1% for a battery and/or battery contact problem

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I was wondering what the hell they were doing. It worked I guess, but sometimes it still randomly reboots. I will send it in when I have the time, I'm not in a rush.
Yeah, Rogers acted in an unprofessional manner.
Take it in to Rogers,
I just had mine serviced and returned from Rogers, No problems and free of charge.
I dropped it off to Rogers with TWRP recovery/CM10 still installed, and the reason it was broken was I used a screwdriver to remove my sim card and tore out the sim card slot from the motherboard. Totally my fault. Also, my skyrocket is a used one from ebay, no less. Did not get it new from rogers myself.
Rogers fixed, no problems or cost to me. Rogers kindly restored it to a rogers Firmware, which I promptly removed immediately.

Hey guys, I dont have the exact problem, but i do think my skyrocket i727 is also soft bricked. Ive been researching allot since i dont know too much, and i dont wanna risk my phone dying on me. Any help will be greatly appreciated. While at work (currently deployed, so i can't go into an AT&T store) i used my friends charger to charge my phone. Ok, i put it were all the sockets are, that i always use and have not had any issues with. And it didnt charge, so i plugged it into my friends laptop. I see on my phone the blinking battery, and continue to use my gtalk. Had to step out to work, disconnected the charger and continued on with my day. A few hours later i took my phone out and noticed it kept on vibrating while the screen was black. Took the battery off put it back and nothing. Then took the battery out for like 2 3 hours, and again nothing. It will jus go to the 1st samsung logo, then to the second and go black, then vibrates every other second. I'm going crazy because i dont have a memory card and am soo terrified of losing my pictures and videos. I have read and have had the guys i work with help me, and one friend downloaded the Odis program, but before i use it, i just want to make sure theres nothing else I can do. Again ive read the steps, understand them, but will it delete my pictures?? I apoligize for the length of my thread, just trying to give as much detail as possible. I have never tried to modify my phone, so its still in its original form. Please help. Thank you in advance. Have agreat day

Ok, so i'm statting to worry... its been a little over 10min and Odin is still on <ID:0/004> system.img.ext4
last time this happened, after 3 hours of waithing on this message, my phone I guess crashed because it started to disply the original message I posted.
What should I do?
its been 30 min now... should I wait? should I unplug the phone and start over or should I just close Odin and start over?

Ya you need to figure out what has happened. Are you sure you have Odin setup correctly? you have the file in the right Box (PDA I think). Every other box unchecked except auto reboot..?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28785461&postcount=1
You extracted the TAR file from the zip?
yes, I followed all instructions posted on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398 and even reinstalled the drivers before beginning.
its still stuck there...should I just unplug the phone and start all over or should I close Odin?

Yes I think you can safely disconnect. You don't have Kies running in the background? And your phone shows up in the the upper left small window of Odin?
yes kies is not even installed and the phone does show up in the upper left corner of Odin

[Q] Houston, boy do I have a problem!

Just rooted my new SGS3 using New Root Method Released for Verizon’s Galaxy S3, No Odin Required. i did the data & kelvic wipe then install Clean Rom 5.0. All progressed without a hitch. Even backed up with CWM prior to flash.
I rebooted into the new rom and got this: System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless... rebooted several time with same result.
What can I do now? Thanks for your help.
Just a wild guess, but me thinks your bootloader is still locked! But I'm not sure that will even apply because I rooted my device before unlocking the bootloader. But I rooted my device via ODIN first.
You can try EZ-Unlock via the Market. The GUI is still very buggy and will show the status as unknown but the internal workings of the app works good.
You got nothin to loose in trying. Go back to stock and give it another whirl after you've unlocked the bootloader.
Of that fails then I would suggest using the tried and true method..ODIN.
G'luck!
yup your bootloader is still locked
check the downloads thread and use version 1.2.
That means your boatloader is locked. You now must Odin back to stock and start over. Droid style has a guide stickied in the development thread. Follow section 6 of it.
Next time use ez unlock version 1.2 to unlock you boatloader.

Yikes, ok
You have to get into DOWNLOAD MODE.. Power+ Volume Down+ Home key at the same time after a fresh battery pull.
Do a search on the Development forum to set up Odin on your PC.
YOU Must FOLLOW directions EXACTLY our you will have very expensive BRICK!

I lol'ed at your post. A little dramatic, don't you think? He's not even close to bricked. Just Odin from download mode back to stock, and redo the steps with bootloader unlock.
Here is a gift (working ez-unlock v1.2)

Yeah, perhaps a tad overdone on the theatricals.
Cut me some slack, I'm taking acting classes..lol
And... I know... I know..don't quit my day job!
Still having issues. I "think" I am in the download mode. Screen says Downloading.... It has Odin in red in top left corner. Device connects with Odin. BUT I am not getting a PASS message when flashing VRALEC bootchain. Last text line in Odin is: <OSM> Leave CS...
I have tried several attempts.
Suggestions?

No need to do the boot chains. Just follow section 5 of this guide and I recommend root 66 for the ROM you flash

I appreciate the theatricals...however, I am having issues with Odin. Can't get the Pass message. I assume the "Downloading..." text means I'm in the download mode. Tried several attempts. I AM glad I'm not close to bricked too! Can't afford $600 or a divorce. Might have to sell a camera instead.

Hi, I have a Verizon S3 flashed to Boost Mobile. I tried to gain root by flashing a stock rooted Rom and messed up the flash. I had to take it back to be flashed again Now I'm more cautious before hand. I should have backed it up before attempting it, I know I know lol can anyone shed some light on how to update a flashed phone as well as how to root it. I could really use the help
Also after I messed up the boost flash I paniced and flashed a sprint kernel hoping this would fix the problem. Since then anything that I've tried to view including taking camera shots and web browsing if done in landscape mode will be upside down, any remedy for this problem? I know now... root first, flash later.

Sprint kernel is causing the inversion. Flash a vzw kernel. Read first flash later.

Wife's phone stuck at boot up screen

I rooted and put a octane 2.x rom on her phone 9 months ago. Today she said everything started acting up. Radio quit, would not connect. All the apps force closed. She kept getting an error saying GoLauncher needs to be re-installed so she went back to the ics launcher that comes with the room. No apps would work at all.
I came home and booted into recovery (Clockwork) and tried to do a restore. Now it's stuck at the boot up screen. I've done a battery pull and it still does it. This is not my phone and I'm not well versed with it. It took me 11 hours root/rom it last June.
I do not know adb shell. I tried, but I just don't think I have a strong enough computer background. I've rooted my old Thunderbolt, my Transformer Prime and her phone.
If I could get to recover I'd do a wipe and re-install the rom. I still have Heimdall, but I do not remember how to use it. I bricked it when I rooted it the first time, that's why it took so long.
I will be searching while this thread is up. She needs her phone ASAP b/c she interviewed for a job today and she's expecting/hoping for a call.
Follow the guide in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498
Basically put your phone in download mode and click on one of Heimdall versions to get your phone back to factory. Click on the bootloader option as well in Heimdall.

Is there an option to NOT go back to factory un rooted? It took me so much time to root it, I don't want it to all be a waste. Stock rooted would be fine.
There is a heimdall version that will get you rooted and factory. Flash that version. That version was by eollie, in the second post, second link. Or you can flash the Heimdall stock rom and later flash with Heimdall AntonX kernel to get it rooted. All in the link above, so read it all the way down.

Flash with Heimdall stock version then AntonX. You should get wifi.

I give no credit until it's been proven. You'd [apparently] be amazed at how many people brick their phones or get exactly what you just described by flashing our ROMs on the wrong phones.
