Apex launcher lag after using app drawer? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

So I've got a weird problem that I've never encountered before...
The home screen transition animations on Apex Launcher get very laggy and choppy after I scroll through 4+ pages in the app drawer. Everything else on the phone runs fine and smooth, it's just when I swipe between home screens that it's laggy. I know it's not a memory issue because I killed everything with task manager, and the issue presented itself with 300+ mb of memory free.
So here's the sequence of events:
-Start launcher fresh.
-Do literally anything on the phone, and it stays liquid smooth. Run apps, multitask, whatever.
- open app drawer and swipe through 3 pages and go back to home. Still super smooth.
-open app drawer and scroll through one more page. Go back home.
-laaaaaggg
Any ideas? I've uninstalled and reinstalled apex launcher to no avail. I really don't want to have to do a factory reset...

Same here. Change transition effects of honescreen settings from card stack to none and all is good lag is gone.

Just found a temporary work-around: select app drawer style as vertical continuous. No homescreen lag.
I'm still curious as to how many other people experience this, and why it's happening.

[Q] Launcher Pro Glitches

Is it just me or does launcher pro, version 0.8.2, have a huge bug? whenever im in the app drawer, if i rotate my screen so it goes into landscape mode, all my icons get shoved into the top left corner. Same thing happens when im going from landscape to portrait. Also i've tried the 3d drawer and it scrolls down fine but when you scroll up, it goes straight to the top of the list. Its really bugging me i dont know if its just me or not but i've had to go back to the stock launcher bcuz of these bugs and i <3 launcher pro. damn it xD

Yeah, I see the icon thing but it only does it for a split second for me then it fills back out.
I haven't tried the 3D Drawer because the developer explicitly says it's unstable/buggy/whatevs.
Its a shame because I absolutely love LPP. The Widgets and customization options are so awesome.
But it ran smoother on my CM6 Evo. The screen transitions are quite choppy on the NS. I wonder if it has to be optimized for GB? I tried adw ex today and it was SO fast and smooth. I also get FCs on startup and the bug you speak of. Not to mention I can't get the 3d drawer to work...
But I can't be without my Widgets!

New launcher, qqlauncher pro

This thing is nice and smooth. Best launcher I have used so far. Looks to be built off go launcher with a tw4 feel and style. No I'm not a Dev of this. Just found it thanks to appbrain. Here's the market link.

It's decent, needs more options. Definitely isn't up to ADW EXs standards for sure.
Very nice. It has a couple of quirks, but I think I'll be giving up Zeam and moving to QQ. Thanks for the heads up.
Ok. So after a day of playing. Here's what I have found.
Pros
Speedy
no homescreen redraw
Fast app draw
Folders in drawer and desktop
Smooth transitions
Just like go launcher.
Cons
App draw looses my apps.....often. this requires me to clear the default and switch back to NY default launcher 2.
While that is the only con I have..... it was enough to make me leave it till is gets fixed.

Go launcher is way smoother, faster, and more helpful. I didn't like alternate launchers until I tried Go launcher.
Installed this tonight, had problems with widgets showing. Apps are missing (Facebook doesn't show up in the app drawer, in the applications list nor as a widget.)
Would love to see some more options and customization in the future. But I love the look and the speed of it right now.

Launcher 360

For some of you that don't know this launcher, you should try it !
It works very well on our P920.
I find it better reactive than go launcher.....

I totally agree as I am using it even as it came on Chinese!Fastest and lowest memory usage launcher with smooth animation and fast response.
Definitely recommend everyone to give it a try!
I'm normally using GoLauncher EX but i'll try this one for a few days from now on.
The first impression:
the scrolling is REALLY very smooth / it is even smoother than in GoLauncher EX with exact the same apps on the homescreens
i like the way the folders are managed -> like in iOS and with vertical scrolling (screenshot attached)
there are only few options to customize the homescreen, eg apps are not renameable and widgets can't be resized like in GoLauncher EX
maybe it is a wrong feeling but it seems to me that the apps open faster

[Q] ICS homescreen, widgets and app drawer?

With HC on my Xoom, when scrolling throught the app drawer, all I had were apps. With ICS, if I scroll past the end of the apps, it brings me into the widgets that if I tap them, will add to the home screen.
Is there any way to prevent this?
I guess what I'm asking is... With ICS how do I prevent my 3yr old son from being able to scrolling too far in the app drawer and ending up in the widget section where he is adding stuff to the home screens?

googling this just then... if your using cm9 the trebuchet launcher for cm9 doesnt seems to have the ability to lock the desktop (ie not add anything to home screens) see trebuchet features: http://geekprison.com/4472-download-cm9-cyanogenmod-9-trebuchet-launcher-for-android-4-0-3/
using a launcher such as adw ex... you can not only lock the desktop to stop ya boy from adding stuff, adding widgets uses a long press of the screen so the app list remains widget free
hope this helps
So 3rd party launcher is the only way?
and I guess I'm not as worried about adding stuff to the home screen, as he is getting to the widgets, tapping, and not understanding what its doing so he gets frustrated... unlike when he scrolls through apps, and taps, they launch.

Holy hell, I just achieved a buttery smooth launcher (with just one caveat)

Caveat: You won't have any wallpaper. So its all black to ya. But holy **** it's worth it. The launcher felt very smooth as baby asses and I am now willing to give up having wallpaper altogether.
Now the method is very simple and it made use of Google Now Launcher bug (lol)
Tested setup:
Worked on latest CM11 nightly (29/06), latest crombi with vanilla setting (none of the fsync, force GPU etc.), and also crombi with data2sd mod.
Download the official Google Now Launcher in Play Store (don't worry, you can use your preferred launcher later) (I would link but no rep sigh..)
Open the Google now launcher, long press anywhere, and go into the wallpaper setting
Choose one of the stock wallpaper that came with the Google now launcher (I chose the yellowish swirly thingy)
Press set wallpaper
Wait. After a few secs, it should return you to back to the google now launcher home screen but this time with no wallpaper. If it applied the wallpaper successfully, then try another stock wallpaper. If it still applies the wallpaper successfully, then tough luck. Doesn't work for you then.
So since you don't have any wallpaper, try moving around the launcher and stuffs. Feel the smoothness that almost rivals the iOS. Heck you can even go back to your preferred launcher now. The no wallpaper bug stick with nova and trebuchet. This smoothness is the dream we were denied.
This method is reproducible for me and no, setting to that "no wallpaper" option in Nova only applies a black image in the background. The Google Now Launcher bug allows us to literally have no wallpaper at all.
Also, I've been trying to check all day if the lagginess that was originally present in launchers w/o using this bug came from CPU or GPU. I dare to say, for what's it's worth, all my noobish test seems to be pointing to the Tegra 3 GPU. Hell you can even go on power save mode with this wallpaper bug and still see nothing impacting it baby butt smoothness.
(The current Google Now Launcher version in Play Store is 1.0.16.1154249 as of this post)
I use GMD Gestures to navigate through my apps and stuff. It has an option to "hide" the status/navigation bar - i think it basically just kills SystemUI. Yes you wont be able to access the notifications and quicksettings anymore, but hell the home screen is perfect smooth and you get to keep your wallpaper. (might be different on other ROMs, i'm on CROMBi-kk)

Good to know. I prefer having the status bar though since I have two WiFi network in my house and I frequently take a peek at the quick settings panel usually to know which network I'm using.
