I have a LGP920 Optimus 3D cellphone that I got from my local cell phone carrier "Cellular One of East Central Illinois". And I seen that I can get a newer android software update to the phone and my carrier said that they would have to send the phone in to LG to have the update put on it. Well I am leave in about a week for a business trip and I was wondering if there is a way I can update the phone.
I am using android 2.2 and would like to upgrade to the 2.3 or higher. And also I see on some sites say that you can go in your phone a click on "Settings - About Phone - Software Update" to update your phone. But my phone doesn't have that option.
And also since I live in the "USA / ILLINOIS" I can't seem to find my version of phone on the LG US site. All they have is the "LG-P925" and I was wondering if that update would work on the "LG-P920".
If you can help me out on this I would appericiate.

I would suggest to use custom rom Thiaiz 2.8 is the best 1, fast and smooth, follow the steps in the thread

I have a pre-release version of the LG Thrill 4G and it has Software Version:
LGP925-V10a-JUN-17-2011
I know the phones just released and they have version V10e with a build date of August 10th if I'm not mistaken. There are a ton of issues with the ROM I have, hence why the device was delayed. Does anyone have a link to download and install the new version? On my phone when I search for updates it says none are available and won't update.

I've been using the phone for about a month now and I also have version 10a. I will see if I can update via the computer. The phone is telling me there is no OTA update.

I have tried to see about getting the rom from the update tool but it verifies the phone with lg's servers. It told me that my phone doesnt support the S/w whatever that is
if its pre release it might not be able to recieve updates OTA at all. untill there is a version of cwm for the thrill you are stuck.
I have a thrill too, can it flash rom for 920?
Anyone in Europe been able to download the official GB update yet?

I open lg update software in pc says new update found i update finish update and when my phone open he crash and says android process error when i reboot it he froze in lg logo the only wau to restore it is from recovery lg play with us they upload **** file in update server i dont know

Hi,
did you back up first?
if you did, switch off phone, then hold down the volume down key and then while holing press the power button, once you see the LG logo let go, then do a reset to default, then reboot, your phone should boot now.
waitin... no update available, wtf LG?!
i wonder f the 21st was just the date that they were releasing it to the carriers... and depending on what your carrier is might take em awhile to put on their bloatware...

At 0.15 O' clock, i became an USB driver Update, then the Update Window Appears, and shows me, theres an Update available.
But I can't Update.

I choose Germany from updater Country options and it started updating from my europian 10k firmware ( WaterBear 3D v2.0 )
UPDATE: After update saw that it is Froyo 2.2.2 still... It is 21.November but no update yet...
Can't wait anylonger! I'm nervous... ;-)
I'm looking forward, that lg will give gb to us, this day. Optimus Speed came on the announced date. O3D why not?!

As far as I know LG said they will start the updates at the moment only for Europe Open devices.
My for instance is a sim-free device but it's UK region so I won't be getting the update now.
Check which region your device is before getting excited.
I reckon the V10K took over two weeks to land on UK region devices and it was available for EU Open almost a month already.
I am having issues updating my phone to 2.3.4. I have tried the LG Launcher but it is saying that my phone is currently up to date. I also tried updating my phone through the settings menu, but it did not work either because my phone is up to date. I want 2.3.4 to fix my bugs. Please help me? I am sorry if this is in the wrong forum or if this is already a discussed topic.

1. viruses still aren't an issue with android 2. its not hard to learn 3. I can almost guarantee you we'll get a custom ics rom well before before an official update, if official ever actually happens.

The OTA being pushed is 2.3.3 not 2.3.4, it is being redone for the users that did not get it the first time.
The G2x does not have an "official" update from LG to android 2.3.4. If you want 2.3.4 you have to root and flash a custom rom.

In moving on from my unlocked, rooted, ICS installed HTC Desire to have a play with an Orange Uk O3D.
Where do I start...
This forum is nowhere near as developed as the see iou record one, so i'm trying to figure everything out.
So, the phone is locked to Orange - As far as I can see the only unlocking methods are the paid online websites? No software released?
It's running froyo 2.2.2
I want to root it, install cwm and a working GB rom.
I've heard alot of talk of ghost calls on GB, is that sorted now?
Do the 3D parts of the stock rom work once updated to gb?
I'd really appreciate any info you guys can offer.

I am not aware of any software that will give you a provider unlock.
You can root 2.2.2 no problem with with superoneclick.
There is ghost calls on every GB ROM be it stock or custom in my opinion.
You wont lose any 3D aspects on GB upgrade.
I currently own a droidx on verizon but I'm tired of the monthly $110 so I am switching to t mobile $30 prepaid. I just ordered a unlocked lg g2x running android 2.2 from ebay. It appears to be an amazing phone. I have experience in rooting the droid x installing roms etc. but lg is newish to me.
I assume first I should root the phone then install a boot loader and do a backup.
But after I'm a little hazy about. Do I update it then root it again or is there a one click program that will update and install root from my current version?
I assume tethering works in the same manner. And I can't find anything new about throttle override for t mobile. Does one exist? I mean I typically use 6gb every month now.

Boot loader is already unlocked. No need to root. Simply install cwm via nvflash. Download the rom you want to use. And install it via cwm. All the info you need is in the dev section.

Yeah if you flash a 2.3 rom. If you want to update the base band you need to kdz flash v21e

Tethering works fine for me on stock or rooted. No known way to over ride throttle right now. The sim is the standard sized sim it's NOT a micro sim.

I plan on using the phone on he $30 dollar plan because I plan on travelling and swapping sim cards when I visit my friend in japan among other places. The phone is unlocked and works with a AT&T card I hope it works outside the country too.
This lg is alot different than my droidx and an lg optimus I worked on. between what you told me and what the Guide told me, think I understand. I havent put anything on the phone yet, been waiting for my sim card
Question though, is there a reason to update the baseband? and when/if I do will it interfer with forgien sims?
LG G2X is a "stock android" it doesn't have a overlay or different UI on it... but does have a butt load of LG (poopy) coding, which is why root and a different rom is so good.
there is no reason to change base-band, IMO, from the one you are on. I had the latest base-band (Mar '12) and it has a little pllus to it like the GPS was a tad bit faster, but it had more downfalls, you cant have any other custom rom on it besides the one Kwes is working on and that won't cut it for my personal flavor as it doesn't get the kind of battery life CM7 base roms will get FOR ME.
base-band should not make a difference when it comes to changing sim cards and traveling.
