Just wanted to write this little thing comparing the screens of the galaxy nexus and this phone. I have both these phones (galaxy nexus gsm and this one) and HOLY *^&$ is this screen AMAZING!!!
I thought that the nexus screen was good because it was hard to see any pixels and the blacks were really deep too, but then I got this phone and the first thing i noticed is that with the same resolution the clarity was amazing. I couldn't see a SINGLE pixel even if i put my face on the phone! I thought AMOLED screens were the only ones that had those deep blacks but wow was i mistaken! This screen has everything that i would ever want. Now if AT&T could just unlock the bootloader it would make it PERFECT. (Also maybe a way to get back from 2.20? Costco updated it in store for me and now i find out i cant root it yet. Wonderful. Anywho..just wanted to say that its an amazing screen for anyone whos thinking about this phone. GET IT...get it NOW!
Congrats on getting the HOX.
As for the update and locked bootloader, beaups said he wouldnt sleep with his wife until he found a way to root and unlock the bootloader at 2.20.
Anyway welcome to the forums

Hox got better screen. It just sucks that black is not black but grey instead.

Black is black here, are you sure you aren't looking at a grey image like the notification pull down background? It isn't actually black!

i have a Galaxy S2 skyrocket and i compared it to HOX screen not the resolution part mind you but the colors and the S2 had a blue hint to it and the colors werent as vibrant.
I love the naked feeling of this screen as well. Its perfect. This phone is perfect.
I'll just throw in my 2 cents in support of your post. Admittedly, I've never been a fan of the AMOLED screens, but this HOX screen just blew me away when i picked the device up. I've checked out the SGS3 a few times at ATT stores just to se ewhat it's packing, but I can't handle the pentile on that AMOLED. The LCD2 that the HOX packs is simply amazing. You simply can't find a pixel anywhere and the colors seem to be so true for me, whereas the AMOLEDs have always left me feeling a little annoyed from oversaturation. Though the blacks on the LCD2 aren't quite that of the AMOLED, but the color balance and 'accuracy', if you will, are simply stunning. I've never once regretted having this phone. Welcome aboard, this is a great phone and it has some really awesome dev's here keeping it going ( and fully embracing the support we are receiving from beaups' wife.)

For me they are black. Not AS black as amoled screens but deep enough at normal levels of brightness.
I have this gone since march
I changed it 3 times from HTC care
And still I have the yellow spot :banghead:

It really is.
No screen protector, no case, epic phone.
On an unrelated note, is that you in your picture, Shaddy?
The HOX screen is ok as far as blacks go on a LCD screen but it defintely not as black as AMOLED screen. But it is certainly much brighter than AMOLED. AnandTech measured the screen contrast of HOX. It is around 1,000. Great in terms of LCD but no where near AMOLED which is infinity

I like the color a lot more than I thought I would, but I wish I could have gotten red. Red was sold out at every T-Mobile store around me. :smileysad: Build quality is on point and the screen feels like gorilla glass, definitely harder than my G2's screen. It appears to be LCD however, and not SLCD. Doesn't look quite as sharp as my G2.

Yeah I know. I'm surprised by it though. The G2's screen definitely looks sharper and more saturated, but the myTouch's screen is brighter overall. I still like how it's made of glass though.

I just thought this was worth sharing.
I own an MT4G. In my year of having it I have gone through 6 replacements.
None with the SO Type 2 Panel.
Tonight (actually 10 minutes ago) I just got back from buying my wife an MT4G.
It has a cracked digitizer but otherwise works just fine.
The touch screen is still responsive in every corner and every side.
Even where it's cracked. I got this phone for 30 bucks. 30....
My wife now has a MT4G with a superior screen. SO Type 2.
FML!
P.S. She won't switch with me even though she doesn't see the difference.
She just knows that I want it, she has it, I don't have it and that's the way she likes it.

All you gotta do is turn off the phone (make sure fastboot is off)
then boot in to bootloader.
Hold volume down and press the power button. Hold it until you see the bootloader screen.
Go down to system info and look for something along the lines of SH-C2 or SO-C2.
SO is superior, SH is not.
Good luck.

Saturation? Color? Contrast?
30 bucks... can it be any cheaper?
The screen is just seriously washed out in comparison. I don't want to use any terms incorrectly, so im just gonna keep it at that.

I went through several bad screens before getting a good one, and wife still has the bad one. I was checking out my friend's Sensation and immediately noticed that he has the bad screen. Apparently HTC is still shipping both screens even on their latest models. Will definitely be cautious if I go with another HTC phone after this.
I'm expecting my 2nd MT to arrive tomorrow.
If I haven't seen the bad screen, would I even know something is off? Like if my first phone had a bad screen and the new one does to, would I even guess that there's a problem?
I mean do you have to see a good and bad one side by side to know the difference?
Or is it like watching HDTV for years then trying to watch a show on an old 1920's black and white?
So I sent back one already for this and my referb I got back is not nearly as bad but they are still there. Basically, when I am using the phone in a dark area and the screen gives black , not off, there are black dots on the screen. This one is not nearly as bad but is it worth trying another one?
Opinions?

Was browsing the xda app today on the dark theme and I found two dead black spots on my screen. Thankfully they only show up on very dark grey backgrounds and are black. Tried all the dead pixel finders on the market but they don't show up on those...very odd.

Has something to do with the manufacturing process of the AMOLED screens. Fairly normal from what I have read on here.

My phone has the same issue. Several dark patches all over on a dark background while in a dark room. That is the only time i ever notice it; doesn't bother me in the least. Other people have sent in phone after phone, every one of them having these these splotches.
It's from the way they glue the screens together and the glue doesn't dry or something in areas.

This happens to all phones, and led/lcd screens for that matter. People just notice and complain more (rightfully so) on more expensive models. 2 of my last 3 phones before this had at least 1 dead pixel.
You should be able to replace it under warranty, no?
Personally my worst fear isn't dead pixels though, it would be waking up to find a naked Rex Ryan fondling my feet...

The blotches are different than dead pixels. Dead pixels are an instant replacement even if just 1.
That's actually a "problem" with all super ambled screens. It happens when the screen isn't lit correctly or bright enough. It's normal and hhappens on all of the screens.

Hi everyone,
I am getting good deals on both a white and black [not the grayish one] one X, need to decide today which one to buy. I have seen that the white version is more common, also in reviews it kind of stands out as well. I want to ask your opinion on which one is better ie,
-more elegant looks wise, when held in hand etc
-gets dirty more easily, more easy to clean, would proove to be more resistant to scratches [atleast appearance wise] overall
Help me out here!
Go with the black. I have the gray one and it hides everything well whereas the white ones do not. Plus, the white just looks feminine...

I just realized that there isn't one. The guy i am getting the phone from kept on saying black one x, so i just assumed that maybe the international release also came with a black version of one X but turns out it didn't. Hmm well, i am kinda confused again now, in deciding between the the gray and the white. It keeps on crossing my mind that the white looks better, whereas the gray as people are suggesting seems to cover scratches/dirt better.
Lets see, anymore thoughts anyone?

i have the white one x. some people have told me it looks feminine but i can take a joke, to me and a lot of other people its sexy people always say that it picks up a ton of dirt, but if you have enough common sense to keep yourself clean and to keep the phone in relative clean areas it shouldn't be an issue. even if it does pick some up, its very easy to clean.
so all in all, go for the white
Go dark gray, aside from the ring around the cam lense it's a very dark almost black gray. why is this urgent? I just prefer dark to light and I have a black case on mine too and is a great combo.
