Not sure if broken or not but want to make sure this is normal or not. Just bought the Tab 2 today and I noticed that my power button is very loose compared to the volume keys. Is this normal?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Not on mine or the display model at Costco from what I remember.
The power button is a little bit looser, but it is really minimum. Probably because it is smaller and not so solid mounted as the larger volume key.
If you say it is very loose, i think this is not normal.
Mine is very tight, both Volume button & Power button is very tight
Thanks for everyone's answers. I will return it and get a new one. Anyone know where I can look to bring my Tab 2 to full stock?

So my friend wants to restore to default his skyrocket. So he went to cwm, factory reset the times, wiped dalvik and cache. When he tried to boot it soups just hang at the Samsung logo. So I had him format system and now he can't get into download mode, cwm, or boot. It will vibrate in 2 second intervals, but then hang when he releases his fingers. What can he do?

A mini usb cable for lg phones. USB jigs are used for soft bricks. Which is why I'm thinking getting an lg cable will get you into download mode since those cables are like jigs for the gs2

AOKP Android 4.0.4
Pull the battery reinstall plug in the USB while you hold volume up and down should allow you in download mode. Works for me when I formatt system.

I'm pretty sure your out of luck, you said you had him "format system" then reboot? That's a no no..
Sorry. I agree with the JTAG service.

Yeah sounds like you definitely flashed something into the wrong place. Give these people a try. I just got my skyrocket back from them after hardbricking it like this. It takes like a week then they send it back fully functional

Just wondering what an outfit like them does to a bricked phone that all the gurus on xda can't? They must have access to factory software or something?

They have access to hardware and have crazy soldering skills and know where to solder. You have to literally dig in to repair a hard brick..
As for the OP, follow this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348
If you can't get download mode from the instructions in that thread you are probably out of luck and will have to send it for jtag

If I can figure out how they do it, I'll unbrick phones for free.
But seriously, wtf. Format system? Do you even know what that does? You've got yourself a soft brick. Go into download mode and restore the stock tar.
Lol flash a different rom through cwm
CM9 Skyrocket
try externally charging the battery, then going into download mode
Hi guys,
Can someone tell me how can I add advance power menu to stock rom?
I tried search XDA couldnt find any thing.

Tried these links and they both ended up with boot loops on my NS running JB. Remember backup if you give them a try

That quote came from a thread I started I do believe. I still have the zip on my phone and have tried to flash it on stock JB for my NS. Installation runs without a hitch in CWM and phone boots up fine, there is just no extended power menu.

I mean, it worked on Legolas' AOSP 4.1.1 rom, but for some reason it doesn't work on the official ota.

my only other thought is to check w/ one of the devs in the ns dev forum that have built stock jb roms w/ extended power menu. I saw some there that have it, but didn't see any flashable zips for just the power menu.

Ok my xoom 2 has been password locked thanks to my 10 year old brother who doesn't know what the password is.... (oh yay) unfortunately usb debugging wasn't enabled so running any commands to hard reset my xoom is a no go.
I have searched and searched for the last few days with no success in finding a solution so i'm going to have to go beneath the hood and have a play around.
I already know how to tear down the xoom as I've already tried doing a battery pull.
Does anyone at all know anything about the internals that I could pull to wipe the device or return it to stock?
I really don't like the idea that I have spent a few hundred dollars on a pretty looking frisbee.... :-/

Not sure if it would help but have you tried removing the battery for a bit and putting it back before trying to go into recovery or bootloader? Just to ensure a clean state of the phone hardware.
I may get a GS3 but only if I can do a couple things ...maybe one thing. Can we remove the annoying, persistent WiFi notification in a stock ROM that's rooted and clockworked? Thank you!

There is also a dialer code you can type in that will give you the option to turn it off.
Why would you need to be crazy to get a GS3?
Edit: IIRC it still shows up in the same spot after the code, but it shuts up about saying you should use Wifi and such
(been a while since stock, my bad)

I've read of some XML edits that can remove it but it'd need to be stock. I run stock, rooted so it'd need to be removable from the stock ROM. I wouldn't wanna see it in my notification bar or the pull down. And crazy cause I've had about a dozen phones in a year. I have a problem.
