How is everyone I was just wondering if any dev on here has some experience with this tablet and can point me towards some custom ROMs

Only site I've seen with active development for the Thrive is www.thriveforums.org
Honey baked is my personal favorite BTW.

I don't see a forum for it and I might be picking this up today. From what I can see, it can be rooted and that's about it.
Is there any chance for development on this? Also are custom roms as prevalent on tablets as phones?

Hello all. I am new around here. I reciently bought a Nexus7. As a Techno geek I couldn't resist.
I just finished working in a film where 90% OF THE CREW were using iPhones. Including myself.
There were a couple of crew on android devices. They swore by them.
When the nexus 7 was put up for sale I figured this was an inexpensive way to check out android hardware and software.
In a word I am very impressed.
Jellybean runs fast and smooth.
Battery life is amazing.
The customization options blow me away.
The screen on the nexus 7 is great.
But then most of you know all of this already.
I am here as a convert. I have been using an Ipad since the day they became available.
I like the iEverything. But I have learned that there is a hell of a lot of flexability with android that just is not available on apple products.
Everybody I show my nexus7 to regardless of their brand affiliation is impressed.
I have joined this forum so that I can learn as much as possible about android and related hardware.
I look forward my time here.

Not meh, but the kindle paperwhite looks pretty awesome (appears to be running Android, maybe ICS so like the nook simple touch should be rootable)

No idea. If it isn't than it might be a nice buy. Also, thee is a huge thread on this in the nexus 7 forums, if you want to look at that.

If you can install a custom ROM maybe. Otherwise Kindle are way too "closed" for my taste.
Anyway I m waiting for Ipad mini (if it's exist and jb) and new Windows RT tablet. I ll decide around XMas.
I don't think there will be sub 10" tablet on Windows RT. Microsoft should have start on that market right from the start.
nexus 7
I'm in the process of trying to sell nexus 7 and buy 8.9 hd tab. I love nexus 7 works very well and nexus device rocks as long its not on verizon. I've come to realize i dont like 7inch form factor. I watch movies mostly. I like the bigger size and screen.

I just ordered a tf101 for my father. He is not very good with computers but was interested in a tablet, and I thought it might work for him. He will mainly be using it for email, Craigslist and the Internet.
I own a nexus 7 and an hp touchpad, so I'm familiar with rooting and roms. What is the best bet for a stable rom? Shouldn't need a lot of features, but I would prefer a jelly bean rom.
Secondly are there any good tutorials or hands on guides for someone completely new to android?

If he is really only going to use it for browsing I would suggest leaving it on the stock rom. Or put it on the Megatron rom, but still I'd only suggest stock. He isn't going to want to call asus support to find out his beloved tablet is not going to have a warranty.

Well I'm pretty sure it's out of warranty, and he's not going to be calling tech support. (besides me)
Is the stock rom significantly more stable, or what are the advantages to say cm10?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I'm not sure about cm10 but my experiences with JB are all on the Team EOS nightly builds. To be they are the best, everything works and it keeps getting faster and faster. Rayman does build some great stuff though but his updated are not as frequent. I would say give it a play for an hour or 2 and find out what one you like best. For ICS my favorite and best performing rom was Megatron, Team EOS builds have even better performance than that.

Hi all, coming from a captivate glide with almost no dev support I wonder, does this phone has good development support? I hate stock roms
thanks!
I'm actually wondering the same thing. This seems like a good phone, both better and more recent than the Captivate Glide.
The CM nightlies (see the dev thread) are working quite well for me now (Build #246)
