[Q] Camera button remap - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I know the power button was remapped on valhalla final rom to activate the camera button, is there a flashable zip file to do that for an ics rom? I know you could use tasker or some app from the market but tasker is super complicated and I don't wanna spend money. Thanks

Not yet.

Yes there is actually. If you click settings in the Camera app, and then Press the 3 little dots (...) to expand the settings, there should be a power shutter option. Turn it on, restart the camera app, and there you go!

it's not remapped per se.
But also, power button shutter option is only on certain valhalla based roms and the MTD roms. Also, on the MTD roms, it doesn't seem to work very well. It takes the picture and shuts the screen off too.

That's why you have to restart the Camera app before you take a pictures with the power button. That solved the problem for me.

[Q] Screenshot-CM7

Anyone else having problems with EVERY screen shot app on CM7? Every image takes, but is pitch black.

Have you tried screenshot er. Supposedly it works on cm7

Just thought I'd share this in all these threads asking about screenshots to be sure you guys know. The G2x can take screenshots in its stock form without any rooting or apps. Hit the power button + home and it'll take a screenshot and place it in your gallery.

Thanks I've been looking for something that would work with the CM7 nightlies and screenshot er works great!
It will be nice (and easier) if they implement the stock rom screen shot (home + power) in cm7

Love the fact that we have something for MIUI with out buying an app.
Made by the same people that make ripple lock. Both replacements have very good graphically, but they need to learn that root users need to ability to NOT to disable lockscreen, as this is a stupid way to bypass the stock lockscreen, as Tesla the Guy who made widget locker figured out, and uses root to bypass the stock lockscreen which is better.
Tesla has stated he's going to add sense 3.0 replica style lock, but don't know when he will do it

Not for me it works great with cm7.1 RC1 i love this i used miui for a couple of weeks and i loved this lockscreen but had to come back to cm7 because how much faster and stable it was (also i love that you can change the shortcuts!
The developer of this app annoys me. He always updates his free version before he updates the paid version, he did this with ripple lock as well.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
I can't seem to disable the default lock so this one is only used as well as power button not waking. tried with a fresh wipe and flash install.these are effecting cm7 nightly 146 with Chad's 6/19 kernel with aggressive undervolt.
Did you disable lock screen in CM settings>tablet tweaks?
forgot about that.that worked once I disabled the poweramp lock widget which also enabled the system lock. that's all good but the power button doesn't do squat while it's locked
I haven't used the app, but it sounds like something that may need to be fixed with it, unless there's some setting for the lockscreen app that you need to change.
Multiple people are complaining about the power button problem both on xda and the market reviews. I emailed the developer about it but no response. The app is very similar to the developers on ripple lock. GREAT potential he just needs to work on it. I hope teslacoil releases a new WL with the sense 3.0 lockscreen soon, I like widgetlocker

Camera Hack Question

For months I used DlevRom. In that Rom, there was a camera hack that allowed me to use the power button to snap photos and allowed the use of the volume buttons to zoom in and out.
I recently upgraded to Zeus Rom and it does not have that feature. I searched for the hack on XDA and downloaded and flashed the mod, however, when rebooted and used the camera, it would force close when I took a photo.
I am confused to why this hack would not work with Zeus. I read where the hack would not work if the ROM was not deodexed. But Zeus is. That is what confuses me. I ended up just reinstalling the normal camera, but would like to make this hack work. It is so much easier using the power button to take photos with my phone.
Thanks for any tips.

It should work but I know THAT D's reasoning was that it's not good to take photos under 15% and that it was hacked enough. Should work though..
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk
I agree it should work but I followed the instructions to a tee and it would allow me to open the camera app and it would flash but it would force close after. Who knows. I just find it easier pushing the power button than trying to find the button on the screen.

I have it in NumasX. You need more than just the camera app. You also need the camera firmware.

it will take some digging, but ive personally attached the hacked camera.apk to the zeus thread. search thru my posts
just use root explorer to move it to system/app...make sure to mount r/w
ive yet to see a good explaination as to why its bad and personally i dont like to get owned by my phone when im trying to take pics at the end of the night:banghead:
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk
I had the hacked apk and replaced the original camera apk in the system app folder. It must just be my system because when I did this it would force close.

bigfau,
I copied both the camera apk and firmware apk and it worked.
That is not spelled out in the camera hack thread so that is what is need on Zeus if you want to have the hack.
Thanks!

Modded ICS camera

Looking for a modded camera that will take pics with the power button.
sent from device using an app
Bump for same question but for either volume button
CM9 Skyrocket
Stock cm9 does this...
OK but I don't want to run cm9. I always ran a modded camera on my cappy and my infuse. I was just hoping someone had one. I keep turning my screen off when ever I want to take a picture.
sent from device using an app
'Ucam' can take pictures with volume buttons. And it take pictures faster and with better quality. give it a try.
Camera ICS will take pics with the buttons - configurable in the app settings.
Is it really that weird that I don't want an extra app? I just want the stock app to work with the power button. Also working completely after 15% would be nice too, the flash not working is better then not at all, but still... anyone?
sent from device using an app
Actually, this would be nice. I use Ucam, and it works fine, but I would really rather use the stock (modded) ICS camera with the ability to take Shots via the power button. Ucam uses the volume buttons, which works, but you have to have the phone turned upside down (from how most apps work) so the volume buttons are on top. Its not a big deal, but it is akward. I have not tried Camera ICS, but some of the reviews are iffy at best and again it is an extra app. I know in the past (maybe just for GB roms) such a mod existed but one that works on ICS roms (via CWM or Rootexplorer) would be nice.
Camera ICS+ looks and acts exactly like the cm9 camera, so its worth trying

[REQ] volume keys to take picture

Searched and didn't see this mod anywhere yet. Would love if someone could make it so the lock button or volume keys took a picture in the camera app? Thanks in advance
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Synergy ROM does this! I'm running Synergy r64 and just verified the volume buttons will do it. Not sure but some other ROMs may have it baked in too.
there is one for aosp roms.
Yeah, I miss that from synergy but I was getting way to many hot boots to stay on synergy.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Do you mean reboots? That's why I switched back to r64.
BUMP BUMP
Download R64 (or whatever one has the camera app) and extract SamsungCamera.apk in /system/apps
Then put it into your /system/apps with the right permission
Use a root file manager
This only works on ICS TW, idk about JB TW
It doesn't work on AOSP

The app "vignette" can be set to snap a pic with the volume button.
Vignette is an awesome app once you learn how to use it.
