any good backup manager for "switching" roms - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I've always used CWM, but there is a feature that is missing (or that I can't find) that would be helpful. It's basically switching between ROMS. Right now if I want to switch roms, I have to perform a backup, then I have to perform a restore, then I have to restore that other backup to switch back. But then I have a ton of backups rather than keeping 1 backup as the "current" for each ROM.
Anyone know a tool that will do this?

Checkout gobackup i use it almost as much as titanium backup

Ummm lets see.
-Titanium backup backs up your apps data.
-ROM Manager makes a full backup of your phone at that time.
Run both and you are set so you can flash whatever you like.

Yes use Titanium Backup and back up apps&data, be careful about backing up system stuff as it can mess up the ROM you may try to flash. Use ROM manager and you can make a complete backup of your current ROM. This way you can restore if needed. Read and understand before you try anything and you will be OK...

What backup do u use?

Just wondering what ppl use to flash dance. I was usin cwm but the restore end is less than dependable. Can titanium do what cwm does? I know it can backup apps n stuff but is there a way to make it restore everyrthing? Widgets, shortcuts, etc.? If not, what do u guys use to do this?

We generally don't. It isn't recommended to keep everything in /data when flashing stuff, and CWM will literally copy and paste /data back and forth. I am pretty sure most of us just use titanium or mybackup.

I tend to use TB for my apps and MyBackupRoot for data (call logs, contacts, sms, system settings, etc.) and it does seem to take a lot outta the restore process. It won't keep your widgets though. I also have never had any luck with the CWM restore so this is definitely the better alternative IMO.

[Q] Titanium backup and the rooted skyrocket

Just wondering If this app is a good idea to have or do we really need it?
From what I have been reading, it is... doesn't cwm and a nandroid backup accomplish the same thing.... Also is the current version compatible with the ics leaks and all current roms?... I will continue my research but thought I'd throw this out here... It is a question.... Thanks...
Cwm backs up 95% of your setup (it doesn't catch the modem), it's also an all or nothing backup and restore. You can't selectively pick apps or data to restore. That is where titanium comes into play. You can selectively backup your apps their data and your user data (texts, mms, contacts). This is really useful if you flash new Roman. You don't have to reinstall all the apps and data from scratch. You can do batch backup and restore. Titanium also allows you to recover apps from Cwm backups. It's really useful

Titanium works wonders with ICS. I use it after every flash. The previous post described it perfectly. Backup and restore what you want. Its a must have for a flashaholic. I highly reccomend it. You wont regret it. Oh and you can delete, freeze, and unfreeze apps that you dont use or bloatware.

Yes, I've used TB with the ICS leaked ROMs.
I'll third that. I was without home internet few over a month and instead of re-downloading apps and using my data I was able to just restore using TB whenever I was flashing roms. I just started using it and wonder what I did without it.
Titanium Backup is awesome if you switch out ROMS and want all your APPS back without individually re-downloading them.
You can Backup selectively or all apps at once. Restore them selectively or all apps at one.
You can even backup to Dropbox for those unique apps that you don't want to risk losing.
If you are rooted, Titanium Backup is an essential App in my opinion.

app2zip

I just wanted to share a app that work pretty good for me. I love to try out what all the devs have created so this lets me backup my apps with data and flash via cwm or twrp. https://play.google.com/store/search?q=app2zip
This app is very useful. Backup all your apps and than flash them with cwm. Sort of like titanium backup with a extra feature.
does this backup apps
or apps+appdata?
Both and restores both. Works great for most apps, I haven't had much success with google play and I think Gmail.

How is this app different from go backup? Instead of flashing .zip file I restore my app+data backup from go backup. Any advantages?
I use titanium for my backup most of the time but I have used this before and it's pretty spiffy. Wrap all your apps into one huge zip file and flash them back all at once. I would say the advantage is... in the eye of the beholder? Actually I just put titanium pro in a zip and use it to do the rest. I could never get it to zip itself in a way that would work for me.

[Q] How do I replace my custom ROM, but keep the apps/their settings?

I want to clean it as much as possible, but still want to retain my settings (eg: GMail's preferences, the app, and the login which is automatically set. Same with Facebook, don't have to redo all the logins).
Let me know!
Many users use backup utility apps like sms backup (for texts), Titanium Backup, and a few others to perform the scenario you describe. I use Titanium Backup although I haven't used it to restore since I've only flashed one rom on the GSIII but I gave used that app countless times for my last phone. The way it works is as you backup each app through an automated process and once you flash a rom, you restore app and app data. As a heads up, never complain about rom stability if you use Titanium Backup, no rom developer in history cares because you introduced another layer that could be the culprit.

ROM Toolbox will do this and a lot more. Also, you could advanced restore/data from your Nandroid backup in recovery.
