Puzzling. Rooted, installed bean rom. Then nandroid backup. Next installed cm10 and nandroid backup. To backup imei, restore to stock nandroid and backed up. When nandroid back to cm10, the kexec reboots 3 times as usual and everything works perfect hut the unlock icon under the Samsung logo at boot has disappeared. Still rooted. Any idea why?

This is why I'm staying away from cm10.

This has absolutely nothing to do with CM10.
This behavior has been documented on even unrooted stock ROMs.
It happens intermittently with my rooted stock setup too.
I bet you that it's due to the kexec exploit confusing Samsung systems in whether or not it has been unlocked.
It's good to know others are seeing it too. I could care less since cm10 is working beautifully for me. dhacker ftw

I was going to flash the Honeybread theme so I went into recovery and did a backup. I flashed the theme but my bottom bar was missing (due to the fact that I did a metamorph to remove the clock from bottom bar). I booted back into recovery and did a restore to the backup I did today. It went through the whole process and when it booted up it wanted me to go through a setup. What happened?
ATM I'm doing another restore to June 29th. Hopefully that works. I'm going to be pissed because it took me a while to set all my stuff up.

What version of ClockWorkMod are you running? Did you get it from RzoMManager?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
No. It's the Clockwork from solarnz. I restored another backup and it was fine. I have to fix it like I had it before but at least I don't have to start over.
I hate CWM. I wish we had AR on the Xoom.

Hear hear! The absence of the terminal in recovery is a GLARING OMISSION.
I just had the same thing, recovery using the latest from solarnz 3.2.0.0. rc4 100611 and have no apps. will try an older backup
edit: an older backup I had worked, odd

CWM sucks but it's all we have.

Hey guys,
I think the new CWM allows backup and restore? I used it to backup my current rom, but can anyone verify whether there are still issues when attempting to restore backups? Last thing I need is to brick my charge.
Thanks guys!
Is working

Please confirm....
Have you successfully restored using the BLUE font CWM?

I could not get restore to work but it didn't brick my phone either. From what I've heard some people have had it work tho.
Is this the CWM from the Android Market? And, if so - Am I supposed to let CWM rewrite the Recovery Mode like I did on my Moto Droid?
Sooo hoping backup and restore is working, I know he didn't test it completely but that certainly doesn't mean it wont work :] Post in this thread if it worked for you!
I just installed cwm and did a backup before rooted. And was having issues tethering and wanted.to revert back. I went into cwm and attempted a restore. And it failed saying could not unmount /system. Then it froze. Next time i booted to cwm it booted in a basic mode with only options to reboot or apply update.zip
This is my first experience modding a Samsung phone i just upgraded from my droid 1. phone is working and plan to do more this weekend when i have more time to explore.

I am having the same issue as witmore. I can create a backup but it has issue with /system. It doesn't brick the phone but I would like to make a good backup incase things go bad one day.
Is the Market CWM working properly for backups and restores yet? I really want to try some new ROMs ...
The market app still does not work.

Bummer!
Is there any other method out there that can do a full backup / restore for a rooted Charge yet?
Try OdinMaker by P3Droid. It is 2 bucks on the market. I believe it works fine.
I cant get OdinMaker to reliably finish.
I saw somewhere on here that CWR backup works but to restore you have to reflash (Odin) your rom, kernal and recovery. Then in CWR you do an advanced restore and do /data only. I have not confirmed this works.

The advanced restore worked for me. Thanks for the info. Much needed. Started to lose it for a little bit.

I don't see why this wouldn't work.

Try 0817_charge_recovery.tar.md5
The imnuts cwm 0817_charge_recovery.tar.md5 works very well. IT is is stable the only issue is lagfix ext4 does not work. However this may not be a cwm issue but rather a kernel issue. Dan
does anyone have a link for this new CWM?

blazing through on my 4G Droid Charge
I decided to try out the cornerstone aosp so I made a nandroid backup, did the usual stuff and tried it out. Once I was done messing around, I wanted to restore my nandroid but after I do it doesn't boot. Nothing I try works so I end up wiping everything and installing fresh. Second time its happened where restoring wouldn't work. Anyone else have this issue? Also could u take that backup and put it as a zip file, place it on ur SD card and flash it through recovery? Would probably get the same result though

its not an issue nandroid does not restore your kernel. You need to restore your nanadroid then reflash the rom that you were using when you took the nandroid

So I need to just restore then flash the rom that the restore was based off of? Thats easy enough. But I thought there was only one kernal across ics for the tf101 atm

asop and asus based slightly different not sure if its the kernel though so there are some issues there

Hey not sure if this has been answered before. But i was running a couple roms fine (beans/clear/paranoid/cm10) then i installed the touchwiz beta 4 released tonight and then i was going to backup and come back to this rom when i had time. Then when i went to restore my paranoid backup it says it failed to restore boot. My stock one failed too. Any ideas how to get these working? I really appreciate it.

what recovery version are you restoring from?
6.0.1.2
It says error while restoring /system.
The only one that works is my backup for the jellywiz beta 4 which I just made before trying to restore the others.

Hmm. Is it possible that your prior backups got currupted somehow?
What kind of wipe or format did you do before flashing the Beta?
Did you by chance save the backup folder on your computer?

I just did the cache and data and the normal stuff. The backups have the same files as the new beta... like its not missing any of the parts. I do have an old backup of stock back with a locked bootloader i guess i could try

Okay I restored back to my really really old backup. From there i was able to restore my paranoid and other stock backups. Weird.
Is it ok to restore backups going from stock ROM back to stock ROM without wiping before? I've just been restoring each time

I recently had to warranty replace my S3 because of epic GPS issues. Upon receiving the new device I rooted, unlocked, custom recovery.
Restored nand from old phone no problems. Will Nandroids also 'flash' kernals? The phone info shows lean kernal that I flashed on my old my old phone, however I have not yet done that on the new. Thoughts?

Yes. Nandroid backups will alo backup the current kernel.
so since you made the nandroid with lean kernel, that is what is backed up.

Thanks, I assumed moving to a new device you would need to flash a kernel.
