I bought my HTC One S two weeks ago. When I tried to switch it on today it became stuck permanently in the boot screen. Every time I switch it off and on again it can't get past the 'beatsaudio' screen with the big 'One'. I did no developer modifications or unlocked the bootloader. I did not even enable USB debugging.
Is that a known problem with unmodified HTC One devices? Is there any chance I can fix this or should I bring it back to the dealer?

That's strange... Since you did not modify it I would recommend booting into fast boot and choosing clear storage in the menu... If it doesn't work than you can take it to the store...

[Q] HTC Incredible upgrade to "Virtuous Incredible Revolution" possible brick
I am new to this android rooting stuff(and I probably should not have messed with it) but I rooted my incredible and installed the newest cyanogen mod. After I had it for a little bit, I wanted to get a new one and i found "virtuous incredible revolution" rom from Rom Manager and I downloaded it and it asked me if I wanted to back up Rom or clear everything, I chose to clear everything. Once it started to install the screen with the blue android creature it stayed there for a long time; I took the battery out(because this happened to me when i downloaded the cyanogenmod) and i tried to restart it and it still did the blue icon after the "HTC Incredible" white screen was on. I tried to do a factory reset and now it wont go past the HTC loading screen. What do I do?

is S-OFF reversible and will it affect anything
Yes it is and no, it doesn't. Only time you miiight run into trouble is if for some reason you take it to Verizon and are unlucky enough to get a SUPER tech savvy employee, they might know how to check if you're s-off, but both of those are highly unlikely scenarios since you know about XDA

Jakeiter92, I had a very similar issue with flashing this rom. My HTC splash screen kept flashing on my screen.
Try booting into recovery mode. With the phone off, hold down the volume down button and press power. Hold both buttons in until the phone powers on. Then use volume down to select recovery (use the power button to select). Then go to restore to restore from a nandroid backup. Then reboot the phone.
I hope this works!

I had that crash report after reboot problem out of the box I think. Didn't really bother me. No such problems since virtuous unity.

Hi every body.I installed virtuous unity on my desire s.Yesterday I change radio of my phone and it's os crashed.I think it's fastboot is enabled, because I can't access to bootloader by keeping volume down and press power button. Thus I can't restore my backup. Can anybody help me??Thanks alot.
Hi, completely lost with what to do so hoping you guys can help me out. I am relatively clueless (but hopefully able to follow direction).
Heres the story:
Bought a Nexus S second hand for Rogers here in Canada. Been working great for 3 months or so.
The phone, to my knowledge, has never been rooted in anyway, hacked, etc.
So I have had Go Launcher and its associated widgets installed for some time. No issues. About a week ago I got an update notification for 2.3.6 (I was previously on 2.3.4, and even though I checked it never did find 2.3.5)
Now I heard about issues with tethering, and since I never had the search pop up issue I kept ignoring this.
Well today, the Go Launcher got 'stuck' while I was switching orientation( horizontal to verticle) and once it got unstuck recevied a ton of force close notices. I decided to power it off. It got stuck in the power off animation. I pulled the battery.
Since then, it gets stuck in the boot animation (rainbow x?). I have pulled battery numerous times, one time it sat in the animation for 20 min or so, only to restart itself and do it again.
I went to fastboot, and rebooting that way does nothing. Also, I can't go to recovery, when I do it restarts, and then the Android pops up, but eventually I get an Exclamation mark and Android and need to pull battery.
I don't think I can hook it up to the pc because I don't think I enabled usb debugging.
What are my options, any help would be greatly appreciated!
You need to flash the clock work recovery to put a new rom, first install the usb drivers for the nexus and the using dos flash the clock work recovery

Is that possible even though I'm pretty sure usb debugging is not enabled?
Any idea what caused this?
Surely there is a way to reset?
OK so did the rooting procedure but stopped before actually hitting the rooting stage.
Any ideas what happened?
Could it have been Go Launcher? Or maybe enabling orientation switching caused it to freak out...

Follow up to step 7 in the nexusshacks how to root guide and goto recovery mode now, select mounts and thrmen mount usb storage and copy a downloaded rom like cyanogen mode and goto install from zip and fromsd sdcard to install and then advance>clear delvik cache and clear cache partition before installing the rom

If you don't tick the prevent force close, a month ago mine were stuck on home screen and keep forceclosing, all i do is just install another launcher press home screen and voila
The android ! Is the recovery. Stock recovery.
You can try a factory reset from in there.
Or do the entire unlock bootloader and root thing. Unlocking will wipe the phone anyways so just try a factory reset from recovery.
At the ! There is a button press that brings you to the options. I can't recall for sure what it is though. I think it is volume up and press power but I am not certain. If you can't figure it out on your own just look it up.
You probably corrupted your sdcard partition while pulling the battery while it was trying to unmount. If that's the case your sdcard is now bad and the only way to fix is to send it in to service.

So just went ahead and rooted and now running cm7.
Unfortunately lost everything on the phone but had no choice. It was not possible to get into fastboot and use recovery. It hung at the exclamation mark.
Oh well. First time using CM7.... pretty good... mostly just seems to be stock android?

Again the exclamation mark IS the stock recovery.
So i am quite new to xda developers. I recently acquired an HTC DHD and tried to update the rom. it completed successfully but now the phone takes about 20 minutes to start. when the htc logo appears eventually, the phone then vibrates for another three minutes before the quietly brilliant appears. the phone then boots. when i make a call the other party hears me clearly but i cannot hear anything.
I tried to reflash the rom but the fastboot stops responding whenever i get to the menu where i have to choose recovery.
any and all help will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
Did you try to get to recovery threw Rom Manager?

Ok so about a month ago i bought an htc one mini m4 from att and since i think im pretty well trained on installing custom roms and such i thought i would do this to my htc. Well i did everything like normal flashed twrp and booted into it made a back up and so on and rebooted fine. so the next day i was gonna flash a rom for it i dont remember which one it was. But when i woke up my phone was off so i plugged it in and thats when this started im in a boot loop as far as the splash screen htc logo but when i try to go into fastboot mode about a second or 2 into hboot it boot loops and keeps doing it over and over and over again. I been looking for a way to fix it but i dont see nothing like this and this is a first time for me as far as the bootloader boot loop goes... Does anyone have any knowledge of how to fix this??? i would appreciate any help!!!!!
oh and my hboot is tampered relocked and s on
hboot is 2.22 and os is 3.10
i dont remember locking it back i might have but idk!!!
and i have no factory reset or recovery now to!!!! smh :crying::crying::crying::crying:

yes exactly what its doing then it goes from there to htc splash screen over and over again.
Do you know anything about this???
I had a boot loop while attempting to install IC 3.0.3 but the hboot screen let me choose the options and stayed there for as long a I wanted.
When you plug it into your PC or laptop can you hear the USB recognised chime for any time?
