Gamepad for Infinity - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi,
I am searching a gamepad (like a xbox 360 or ps3 Controller) for my Infinity...someone know where I can buy something like this?

Wired Xbox 360 (with keyboard dock or asus usb adapter) and bluetooth PS3 controllers work great on Android. I'd avoid anything else.

Xbox controller doesn't use Bluetooth so it can't connect to the Infinity wirelessly.

If you have an wireless XBox Controller and the PC XBox USB Connecter you can use it wireless.
Just plug-in the USB Connector and push the Xbox Symbol on the Controller.
Then after a while it stops Blinking and from that moment you can use it.

I bought an app in the market called "BT Controller" that makes your phone a bluetooth controller. Waiting for my replacement Infinity to arrive to try it out. I would like a sony controller though . Anybody have a spair one they want to get rid of.

PS3 controller works great on practically any android device

I have a PS3 controller and it works great wired. But how do I get it working wirelessly? Most of the time the Infinity does not find it. Once it did appear in the bluetooth settings but it said I had the incorrect PIN. Is there any way to make it work unrooted? Is there any other controller out there that I can buy that would work wirelessly out of the box?

Picked up an afterglow wired remote from walmart last night, works both with the dock and with a otg adapter.
Its not an oem controller but it is a certified and licensed product so i gave it a try, very happy with it !

This would be my question. Does ICS have built-in mappings for the PS3 controller? Or do you have to install an app for it?

I did not have to install anything. Just plugged it in the usb port in the dock and it worked. But I can't get it to work wirelessly.

For those of you that connected the PS3 controller via BT, did it find it with the built-in BT drivers or did you have to install an app to find it?

With the TF700, you need the Sixaxis app from the Play store in order to use the Sixaxis controller wirelessly.
It worked without the app on the TF101, but not on the TF700 for whatever reason.

I ordered a sixaxis PS3 controller for my tf700, and it works gloriously when plugged in (handled natively).
I installed sixaxis to use it wirelessly and still have android recognize it as a native controller. The controller will connect, but doesn't seem to work properly.
Has anyone gotten a PS3 controller to connect wirelessly to their TF700 and perform natively?? (important for analog input).

Just got the GameStop bluetooth controller for Android (who knew GameStop would actually be the source for the one and only dedicated Android controller I've ever seen?). Feels a bit cheap, but DOES work natively. However, it basically becomes a keyboard input device, so once it's paired, your on-screen keyboard is disabled. When the gamepad is powered off, the keyboard comes right back. Tried it with N64oid, and once the key mappings were entered properly, it's fantastic with no lag as far as I can tell.

My Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710 also works great when connected to the dock.

Just ordered the phonejoy , read and seen (youtube) some good reviews regarding it.
I will receive my Infinity in 2 weeks, so I have already started to collect some nice accesories.

Has anyone tried using a Bluetooth Wireless Sixaxis game controller from Ebay? Not Sony brand, but some off brand. Like this --> ebay controller

Yes, I tried an Arsenal bluetooth PS3 controller, and the Infinity wouldn't even detect it as a bluetooth device. I suppose I could have tried to delve into assigning the address manually, but when there are other options that work without jumping through hoops, I didn't see the point.

[Q] Which gamepads can you use with the transformer?

I know you can use the Wiimote, but can you also use the "classic controller?"
What about the Xbox 360 controller? Wired only?
Yes, I've been using the Classic Controller to play n64oid.
not sure about the XBox 360 controller, perhaps 3.1?
I only ask because I already have 360 controllers, but no wii controllers. I'm gonna pick up a classic controller through. Can't wait to play some old school games haha

btw, as far as I know the classic controller has to be tethered to a regular Wiimote.
you need a Wiimote to hook the classic controller up, but once you have both, your good.
With the 3.1 update, any USB gamepad will work. Now, the Xbox 360 WIRED controller should work as it was shown. as far as the wireless one goes, you'd have to buy the USB cable for it and i doubt the wireless adapter for windows will work.
But literally any USB gamepad will work with android 3.1, and there are many many usb gamepads out there.

3.1 is going have all sorts of USB connectivity for joysticks, mice, keyboards, etc, at Google IO I guess they used an Xbox 360 controller.

Xbox 360 controller

i was wonderning if xbox 360 pad can be used with our sensation for gaming.
i'm saying this because ps3 pad can be used for gaming and all it takes a driver which enables it.
i'm not a dev but i would love it if someting like this can be done.
please dev can you give some insight about this thread.

What way does the 360 controller connect to the Xbox wirelessly? If it's Bluetooth, there *MIGHT* be a slight chance. But if it's not Bluetooth, no way to get it working.

othere than that i could not find anything
Ok this is what I do know about your question. I do think the X-Box 360 does use Bluetooth for the wireless controllers, but do not hold me to it as I have not researched it in depth. If it is Bluetooth then you should be able to connect it via Bluetooth if your device supports the service the controller uses to communicate. But this is where the problem lies at, I do not think the services or supported in Gingerbread. Now if the Sensation suppers USB host functionality then you probably can use a USB hub to connect your Sensation and the X-Box 360 controller to and use it that way.
Now in ICS I do know that game pads are supported. You can read the article on Engadget to read more about that.

Hi,
Unfortunately for you the 360 wireless controller works via radio rather than bluetooth (unlike the PS3 and the Wii)

Thanks for correcting me, as I said I had not ever really looked into it. I knew the PS3 controller worked via Bluetooth, so it was a incorrect assumtion on my part.
Also thanks to someone I consider a friend malybru.
Even so if you dont have a stock build of android like CM7, or MIUI, Bluetooth wont work with the ps3 or wii controllers... HTC needs to fix that in their next update. i love sense and i love gaming it sucks i cant have both
360 = rf
ps3 = bt
Yeah, you will never get a 360 controller working without a hardware mod of some sort.
Wii is BT as well.
i just want to know how does cm7 or miui allow the users to connect to ps3 pad
if they use different bluetooth app or driver files than i think it will be good for us to just move them in our phone and we are good to go.
if any 1 can tell me the reason these two rom can connect to ps3 pad. and what is it that allows them
U need a radio reciever in your phone at 2.4ghz to use xbox controller. Our phones dont. So no go. End of story
I know there are usb adapters for the xbox 360 controller , would it be possible to use a usb to micro usb cable and use USB OTG to get it to communicate, then creat some sort of driver to get it to work? Sorry if its impossible, just throwing science at the wall here to see what sticks.
LOL we work around science.

Sorry for digging out this topic but it might be usefull for some ppl. With new usb otg function i managed to control this wireless 360 pad to sensation. Here's my vid showing that Sensation and xbox 360 wireless pad
can you please supply the rom and kernel.
i tried several but no success.

Android Version: 4.0.4
Still not working. Please provide your Rom and kernel version. Also the USB BT app please.

USB Controller

Hi Guys,
Just a quick question. I've only found topics related to PS3 & XBOX controllers. But will any usb controller work with the Asus Transformer?
Thanks in advance!

I don't know about any usb controller, but I would think so. I have this controller and it works perfectly.
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-940-000110-Gamepad-F310/dp/B003VAHYQY
I've tried a few of the Logitech ones, the Wired 360 and a 3rd party adapter that connects a n64 controller and they all work.
Where it gets sticky is app compatibility. I know that GTA3 does not 100% work with the Logitech controllers (can't go forward in car). The n64 one may or may not work with anything other than emulators.
Figure out what you are going to use it for then do the research. One may be better than others for your specific purpose.
If I were to pick ONE to work with, it would be the wired 360 controller.
Thanks for your replies. I know that some games aren't standard compatable with gamepads/controllers but there's this app called 'Sixaxis Controller' that fixes this problem.
360 is to pricy for me. Found one for 15 bucks with good reviews.

I have some cheap USB controller. It works perfectly only in Sonic CD. Didn't yet tried sixaxis but it should definitely help.
Hooray for DealExtreme. But you get what you pay for, but the reviews are good compared to others.

Sixaxis is great, you can map parts of the touchscreen to certain buttons.

[Q] Can I use a game controller?

Well, it looks like the stock HOX supports usb otg now, but doesn't work with the xbox wired controller. o.0
Do I have to replace the kernal to get the support to work?
Also, what about the PS3 controller? Can I use that with just rooting?

For the ps3 controller, you can get the six axis control app. Well worth it. No wires needed either

Nyko pro pad triger buttons

Ok so by now we all know the Nyko pad is garbage. If I didn't have my galaxy s3 still floating around, I wouldn't have been able to downgrade to jb 4.1 in order to use the Nyko app to update the pro pads firmware which in itself is a ridiculous process. So even with the firmware update, the L and R triggers still don't work. I was playing Dead Trigger 2 and before the update the R trigger wouldn't work, now after the update the L trigger doesn't work. I was playing Doom GLES (awesome btw) and the triggers don't work at all. So can anyone offer any insight? Would this be the same with a diffferent controller? Is it just a matter of the apps not supporting controllers with triggers? Is there a better controller option for console mode besides the Nyko? The Nvidia Shield is an incredible device, though I bet we all wish it was a little more plug and play without all these issues. Hopefully Shield 2 will nail it.

I havent had any problems with the shield and controls. Between games supporting the shield and using the gamepad mapper, i havent had any issues. I havent played a plethora of games either.

No i should have clarified that in my OP. i have a pretty long mini hdmi cable so i just use the shield itself for a controller. If u have a ps3 controller check out six axis, i think its one of the better options when it comes to using a secondary bluetooth controller

I wanna say its 20 feet long but it might be shorter and the one in my gaming room i have a 6 footer. I use my 42 inch tv as a monitor
Quick update. I returned the nyko and just for kicks I tried the Red Samurai Bluetooth controller that Gamestop sells and the triggers work without a hitch!!!!! None of the hiccups that the Nyko had and its only $25 bucks. It doesn't have a home button or the mouse mode that the Nyko has but its truly not that big of a deal to exit out of any app the long way. The right analog stick still functions as a mouse like on the shield itself so console mode is good. Played Dead Trigger 2 no problem.
