I am totally new heree and not sure if this is the right place to post this. Please bear with me.
I updated my G2X when the Gingerbread version first came out. I just noticed that it still automatically rebooted itself twice last night while I was reading. The G2X was right nest to me and I heard the T-Mobile tone while it rebooted. Has anyone experienced this? I thought this update shall fix this bugging issue. I also notice the battery drains faster. Anyone knows how to root it after gingerbread update? Thanks.

Yup, go to the privacy menu and use the option.
The simple act of doing a reset does a lot for a smart phone.
I had an Iphone 3g where after 4.2.1 the solution to speed was to do 2 factory resets in a row.
Some people will return a laptop because they don't want to do a reboot.
------------After the reset, go to the marketplace and the first thing install the T-Mobile My Account app. The original version is problematic and can lead to buggieness

If you return a phone to Tmobile before doing a factory reset to see if it solves your problem then you simply don't value your time. A factory reset takes all but five minutes. If you call Tmobile you will have to wait for them to ship you a phone, and when it arrives it will be in "factory reset" condition anyway. If you go to a retailer and pick a replacement up, it too will be in the same condition. So if you are going to get a reset replacement, everyone would be wise to try a reset before rushing to Tmobile.
I had the same problems with GB after the update- I didnt do a factory reset though.
Moved to Eagles Blood and seems like a much more stable and cleaner rom- havent tested enough to see if it reboots or not though.
To root, flash clockwork mod recovery using nvflash and install a rooted rom. There's a rooted version of gb stock out there, or you could be adventurous and install one of the many custom ones we have.

Return your broken phone ASAP. Phones should not randomly turn off or reboot. It is broken. Do not try to fix a broken phone on your own. It will result in nothing but headaches. Take it back now!
Yeah my replacement phone still randomly dies, I'll come back in a few hours and have to do a battery pull. It doesn't reboot like the old one but it does die more.
Should I get the replacement replaced?

I ran Xboarders OTA GB with no tweaks since it came out. I then switched to EB 1.07 and had a ton of issues. I then returns to Xboarders OTA tweak and it was flawless. Now I am on to Weapon G2x.
Like I said, I really think a good scrub down and wipe, i.e. factory reset does wonders, at least folks should give it a try.
I absolutely agree that theres a good, actually great batch out there, I have NEVER had a single issue with my phone and its bone stock on 2.2.

so are you doing this in the store? or calling customer service?
So auto reboot issue is the only issue you people are facing in this mobile phone?
Returned phone . New works flawlessly. Tmo is aware of the issue. When u call you will talk first with an outsourced person. Get past them they will transfer u to tmo who will pretty much no questions asked process ur return

Purchase at eBay does not affect 1-year warranty.
I done several different searches and can't seem to find an answer.
Well, first off, I am not a newb to Android but am a little new to this phone.
Ok, well, I originaly rooted my phone and was using Stock FW for the longest and never had any issues. Then I decided to run a Gingerbread rom to see if I would like it. Used it on Infused GB for about a week and never had any issues but due to work and the use of BT I decided to swap back to a Froyo rom so I could have full use of BT. So I installed Infused 1.6.0 and ever since have had no issues.
Well, I decided to give MIUI a shot and installed that rom. Now my issues started. After I installed MIUI I would get very frequent and Random freezes on my phone that would require a battery pull. I enitialy thought it was a bad flash. So I Wiped Data/Cache/Dalvik and reflashed, well the problem still persisted.
I decided to do few tests to see if I could determine what was causing it. But when I say its random, its random as ****. The only thing that is persistent is it only does it when my screen is off. I read somewhere that a CPU OC program could cause this but I do not have one installed or anything to that nature. never had as matter of fact.
After many hours of trying to fix the issue I was having with MIUI I decided to go back to Infused 1.6, however. Again, Wiped everything and flashed Infused back and guess what, I am still having this problem and its beginning to give me a headache.
Steps I have taken so far.
Wiped Data - Cache - Dalvik Cache
Fresh Flash
ODIN back to stock and started over.
Thought it was possibly a corrupt Kernal install so changed that around.
After all of the above, I am still experiencing random phone freezes after the screen turns off and I have to pull the battery to get the phone to respond.
Any suggestions.
I'm not a developer so I dont have any advice; however have you looked in the MIUI Q&A thread? And if so, why not try posting there?
Also, bump. Because I haven't had this happen, doesn't mean it won't happen and it'd be nice to get an answer. :-D

I looked in the MIUI Q&A but its not an issue with just MIUI, its happening with any rom I flash. I am not sure what borked on my phone but its quite annoying.
Are you restoring anything using TiBu when moving between ROMs? Make sure you don't restore any system data. And try without restoring any apps at all. Could be a case of some random app that's freezing up the phone.

I use google voice and received a call earlier. I answered on my computer, missing it on my phone. Now, My phone will either not stop ringing, or will start ringing randomly. How can I fix this? I've already tried wiping the dalvik cache.

Reflash the ROM, wiping dalvik cache wont work because all the dalvik cache is made of is the classes.dex files that contain the code for apk's.
If reflashing the ROM doesnt work, reflash with superwipe

You had a perfectly stable stock rom, its not androids fault you screwed up in installing custom roms, when you jailbreak and iPhone it gets buggy too.

Whatever dude. I've been flashing ROMs since the original G1 and I'm just sick of things NOT working being the norm. The amount of time it takes to get a ROM to run stable is not even worth it. After you spend hours reading everything to get your phone ready to flash the fancy cool ROM, stuff still doesn't work properly. Oh, and for the record, I've never owned an iPhone, so I don't see how Apple could call me back.

Well then something as simple as clearing app cache should have been second nature to you... And secondly, how can you cry about roms faults, when they are provided free of charge! If you want perfect, go buy iCrap, and become just another sheeple! I told you how to fix you problem the first time. Yvw for the help, but if you been flashing since the g1 and haven't figured out basic android then you should switch to apple...

I did clear the app cache, it didn't solve anything, hence why I came here. The issue has resolved itself after several reboots/ clearing phone related apps. I don't understand why you're assuming I haven't figured out basic android ROM troubleshooting, seeing as I have to do it every other day. It's obvious to me you are a fanboy who takes personal offense whenever anyone says anything negative about Android. You care more about not being an iSheep than having a functional device. Stock android has major faults, which is why I bother rooting to begin with. I detest Apple, and am pretty jaded with Android.
I've been ruining custom roms since I got my device and honestly they have proven to be much more stable than stock. When I was stock I had random reboots after doing simple tasks , that had Never happened to me on custom roms. My experience has been nothing but positive! I'm sorry you had such a negative experience but not everyone has had negative experiences . Your probably going to bash me for saying this because your hateing right now but I'm being completely honest .I for one enjoy my custom roms and NEVER had serious issues with them ! I'm very grateful to have them available to me. Android had proven to be the best and most customizable operating system I've ever used! If your not satisfied go find something else however you will find in the end that Android is the better system . If you don't agree Then just stay happily with what ever other system you choose. But in all honesty I can't see finding a better system than android . Again sorry you have had such a negative experience but not many share your view. Best of luck to you and in what ever you decide to switch too. But personally I'm sticking with android and my custom roms. They have brought me great satisfaction.

I hate posting threads with questions cause I hate feeling like a noob who doesn't read but in this instance I really tried to fix the problem myself and just can't.
My wife's infuse keeps rebooting. It did it when on stock and I thought I could solve it by rooting and loading a custom ROM. In my experience loading custom ROMs almost always makes things better.
So far I've tried yumaporn ICS and Scott's broccoli ICS. I've tried the v6 supercharger. I've made her get rid of all her apps and even change off of go launcher. Which I had used on my infuse without problems.
I'm thinking of bringing her back to gingerbread but I am not sure its software related.
I've checked the battery connections and they look just like mine. I don't see anything broken. The battery is a little loose but I put a piece of paper around it and it doesn't move at all anymore.
I don't think its the power button because it doesn't loop.
I don't know how to get a kmsg or ksmg? Log cats I don't think will help because it isn't any 1 thing that causes it.
I tried the supercharger thinking it was a memory thing. Tried setting background processes to 2.
Got rid of all task managers, tried wiping caches.
I just don't have the knowledge to do anything more than I have done. I really think its a hardware problem and am hoping someone can prove me wrong.
10 post thanks and a +1 to whoever can fix this. If it can be fixed!

try taking out the microSD if there is one.
take off all important stuff in the internal sdcard
factory reset from in the phone under /privacy
heimdall or odin back to gb stock..i like the heimdall x2 with boot loaders for complete repartition.
if you are still rebooting or looping in complete gb stock, it's prolly hardware related
I should have known the avatar would have some idea. Will try that now. Thanks!

Well. I tried to heimdall the thing and my computer about blew up. Hoping I can at least boot it to safe mode and somehow get all the pictures off before it finally explodes. So. I couldn't heimdall so I put a stock uclb 3 ROM on it. Its running now and I hate it. Thankfully its not mine. I can't stand stock. What's worse is we went to a store today and they had an s3 on display. Shouldn't have even touched it. Even being the display phone the damn thing was zippy. No upgrade for another few months. Hoping the note 2 is that fast

Hey guys, I'm a long time lurker first time poster. I've gotten into flashing about 2-3 months ago and a whole new world opened up for me. The ROM I like the most so far is Liquid Smooth RC9 with the gapps from RC8. No issues with the camera or video recording here at all.
I do have an issue with the phone process, though. Every time when my screen is locked and someone calls me they get it to ring a few times before the call ends, while my phone does absolutely nothing. If the screen is on, I do get the incoming call but a message pops up saying that com.android.phone stopped working. I've tried 4 clean flashes so far and they all do this, so I know it wasn't a bad flash. My baseband is the stock UCLF6 and the kernel is 3.0.49 cyannogenmod.
Does anyone know how to fix this? It sucks to have a phone that can't call lol
(P.S. I've searched the forums but I didn't find anything, I apologize if this has been asked before.)
Find out if other people are having the same problem on the same rom/gapps
If they arent your clean flashes arent clean enough
If they are then make sure the dev of the rom knows and wait for an update to fix it or switch roms

I had the problem, too. It was the reason I stopped using RC9. But, my radio was UCLF5.
I came to Liquid from SkyICS I think. Wiped cache and data as well as formatted system a few times before flashing. I didn't follow the developer's instructions to the letter, though. I restored the data on a few of my apps via Titanium. So if you used Titanium, perhaps you might try not using it if you flash again?
Would also love to know if someone has a solution to this. It was a great rom other than that issue.
I had the same problem and went through everything. My solution: settings - apps - go to phone then clear data. Don't worry nothing will be deleted only your call log.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Yeah I actually did use Titanium Backup, which might indeed be the culprit. Now I think about it, the phone was working just fine because I made a phone call to my wife right after flashing, then after getting all my apps back on there it just stopped working. And one of those apps was TB which was also used to restore some other apps.
The clearing of the phone data seems like an excellent idea as well, wish I'd have thought of that.
I ended up ditching Liquid Smooth and flashing a CM10 nightly with the working Google Now. If I go back to Liquid Smooth I'll try the above suggestions and post back here if those work
Thanks for the replies guys.

I also have RC9 with UCLF6 and many times when I answer a call it auto hangs up. My messenger stops working semi-frequently as well. IMO, try clearing the phone data and flash Liquid Smooth, especially if you get bad battery life with CM10 as I did.
