I recently rooted my inspire, first android device, and installed CM7 because it seemed amazing, not saying it isn't. I like CM7, but i like pure Gingerbreads gingerygoodness even better. I am currently running CM7-Phunky Cow "flavored"
and i like it because of the actual launcher and runs higher quadrant scores.
I like pure gingerbread, but i think i may miss the cm7 settings, some i use, also i miss HTC widgets and camera, etc, but i cant stand sense anymore.
Anyone have recomendations on ROMS, or CM7 Flavours/Mods?
Use Ultimate Droid

I have tried that and it seems alot heavier then CM7, and that's not really what im aiming for, plus the theme is wierd on it, im not sure how i'd go with changing that.
What's the reason you use it?
Its very smooth and fast and my speed increased and its just perfect for me

Right now Cm7 is starting to make me not like my phone for some reason so let's put it this way, is there a Stable, User-Friendly, non sense rom out there thats gingerbread?
The nature of all custom roms are beta's nothing more, every rom including the stock non rooted rom is subject to hiccups.

+1. Gingerbread, works great, smooth, slick, and not an lick of Sense. If you are looking to try something different, you owe it to yourself to give it a go. C'mon over to the Dark Side, the water is great!

Pure GB. Fully customizable. Great Quadrant scores (for what they're worth). No problems whatsoever...
And I jumped to the "Dark Side" straight from the latest CM7 build...and haven't looked back....

Well i guess im going to try miui, but how do i get it looking more like gingerbread, that seems heavily modded visualy... And is it using gingerbread launcher or an app launcher
If you're looking for a Gingerbread build with Sense, try RCMix 5.9.x, available for download directly via CWM.

It's using a home launcher.
If you want a pure GB home launcher, or have it look like CM7, just download ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro.
I'm currenrly running ADWEx on mine...
MIUI is fully customizable, and even has its own dedicated dev forum...

Adw has a really nice icecream sandwich theme too
Which one are you referring to? I know there is one that is made by "kovdev" that's for ADW but also works with Go Launcher.

I'm using Launcher Pro and i love it. Its clean and simple and the scrollable 5 icon dock is amazingly useful in eliminating screen clutter. I used launcher pro icons to download the ones i didnt have and now it looks slicker than ever. I'd used the free version on 2 older phones and now on the full version (only difference is being able to resize widgets and usse LP+ widgets, both which did not affect the user experience). Also great to be able to adjust animation performance and such.
I would say go launcher ex all the wayyyyyy
The touchwiz from the market is a really good imitation. Only stock touchwiz is supported by hardware acceleration, which makes it incredibly smooth.
I really like pure breeze. Having the kite anywhere on the phone is amazing. Somewhat simliar to wave launchers usefulness.

Development on adw and Launcher pro been dead for months. I use Go launcher looks and feel more stable.

Touchwiz is NOT smooth....
Why do people keep saying that? it stutters. It Jumps. The only REALLY SMOOTH launcher is launcher pro.
Guess it depends on how many widget and background apps you have running. Mine has always been silky smooth. No jumps or skips ever.
Edit: I'm on a ogsgsii. No lag here
But I agree that launcher pro is amazing.

After using it for a day I just could not accept the tw launcher and had to install ics launcher.
Just wondering if anyone has found the touchwiz launcher useful and if so why?
If you ditched it which launcher did you go to?

It's not a terrible launcher.... Just boring. Not very customize-able. I have and will always use an aftermarket launcher. AdW eX to be exact.
I am using Nova Launcher. I have had no issues with it so far.

Even though I dont have ICS yet (****ty Rogers), I definitely agree with hawk
I was looking for a nexus experience but didnt want to get a galaxy nexus.
Thats why i would recommend Nova Launcher, Ive watched enough videos
I'm neutral, just looks like plain old touchwiz to me. Like the one we've always had, And I think we expected that. But with the added multitasking features And other added features its beem a pleasurable experience so far And I'm thourghly enjoying it.

I would definitely love you if you get it vanilla. I hate touchwiz, most useless software ever.
BTW you got any ETA as to when its coming out?
I ditched it for Apex. Much nicer.
I've always used launcher pro, so i'm super used to it. I just have it set up to have an ICS feel to it using this guide. I've had this for a while now, but now I actually have true ics

This is what it turns out to look like. Not too shabby, b/c I don't really like Nova or Apex that much.

Yea, the touch whiz completely ruined ICS for me. I had ICS running on my Inspire 4G before I upgraded to the Skyrocket, which was aosp ICS. I could definitely see all the differences straight away, and was quite underwhelmed by the ICS leak. I think some of the best parts of aosp ICS are missing. I used apex launcher for a while to try to make it a bit better, but in the end, went back to my NexusMod 4 backup.
Looking forward to some vanilla ice cream goodness.

Besides the launcher (which I ditched and bought Nova instead), I don't know what else is TW. I have no experience with ICS till today's flash-fest, so it all seems good to me (minus the TW launcher).

The thing that annoys me most about TW on ICS is that they got rid of the settings button in the notification pull down. Like... WHAT THE **** SAMSUNG?

They also hobbled the lock screen. AOSP ICS allows for many music players to have controls on the lock screen. Samsung only supports it's own music player to have controls on it's TW lock screen. I just don't get it, why take away features?
On top of that to still not add a widget (since you are forced to use the stock TW music player to have lock screen controls) for the TW music player is just stupid. Makes you wonder how thought out TW is.
Does anyone know why all the icons and widgets seem small on the stock launcher? Like the margins are set to large. I've noticed this on pretty much all AOKP Roms, is there a way to fix it?

I have noticed this as well. It is just how Google designed the stock Android launcher, with large margins. I actually like the look of the smaller icons and widgets. However, Apex Launcher and Nova Launcher, as well as the included Trebuchet launcher in CM10 have options to change the margin sizes. The AOKP launcher does not have this setting.
Interesting, the galaxy nexus and nexus 4 both don't have this problem? I think it is just a AOKP thing, I just find it kind of weird and didn't know if I could edit some file to change the margins.
Thanks for the reply!

AOKP has both Nova Launcher and the stock (AOSP) launcher bundled. Choose whatever version you want when you first bootup, or if you want to change that now, go to Settings / Apps / Nova Launcher / Clear Defaults and then press the home button.
Hey rohan, yeah I knew that I was just wondering if the way the margins on the stock launcher on AOKP were suppose to be like that? They seem too large?
P.S. just tried out your 4.2.1 build, it seemed to be working great. Keep up the good work!

Hi everyone, I just got the max HD and my complaint is that it feels very laggy Compared to my wife's s3. Thanks!
I'm running liquidsmooth and I really like it so far..... I ran PAC for a few days but it had quite a few f/c's and lockups. I should mention, I've only installed two roms... So Might not be much help..
I had a lot of lag issues with the stock 4.1.2 firmware then installed slimbean and haven't looked back.
Great ROM, very snappy.

Concur on slimbean. I haven't tried anyone else yet and in no rush actually. At some point I probably will just out of curiosity. Anyway slimbean is super nice and much more fluid than stock. I love the idea of the rom being lightweight, still no real sacrifices made. It is also officially supported and with weekly builds. I recommend real dark slim for totally pure black look.
I'm running off Liquid Smooth on my XT926 and it's really smooth and snappy but I'm experiencing problems such as certain apps not working, random reboots, and apps freezing and crashing as well.
Currently running AOKP_xt925_unofficial_2013-07-26 - very VERY stable, snappy and great options/customization
Imo Carbon and Liquid are the best, im on the 7-31 nightly (Liquid) and there is no lag and none of the reboot/freeze issues most of the previous nightlies had. Haven't had a single crash in 3 days
Sent from my XT926 using Tapatalk 2
I recommend to try out the very new CyanogenMod nightly you now can find on the official homepage. It is not the most feature filled room but I am amazed how smooth everything is. This is exactly how stock should ought to have been. So far no crashes or any problems what so ever. If you want more features I recommend something like slimbean but cm is a really good place to start. Cm has demonstrated to me for good that the hardware in RAZR HD is perfectly adequate, if there is any lack it is only because of software.
I noticed you guys have Slimbean. I highly recommend it. I got it running on both of my devices, and If I get this it'll be running Slimbean.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288532
It's fast, sexy and it gets the job done.
I'm also back on slimbean again. There is no fault with CM. For some it will be the perfect alternative to stock. It's smooth and simple. Slimbean is perfect for me. It is also smoother than stock and in addition has a ton of customization options to play around with. I'm currently on the last beta or alpha (I'm not sure) that there is a link to in one of the last posts in the slim thread. Despite the status as experimental, it has been completely stabile since I flashed it. For me it took almost I year before I unlocked (fear of loosing warranty etc.) but I'm really happy to have done it now. It's almost like getting a new phone. I think razr HD development is thriving quite well now.
yep the official slimbean build 8 is now out. super easy to install and manage and i am an amateur.

Just take that ish back my friend and get a new one. I had no problems with mine. Use stability test on play to test processor my MFLOPS was 620. Let the test run for an hour or something. If its messing up post the errors on here. I ran it for an hour on LiquidSmooth with no probs.
