Huawei U8860 Bluetooth functions missing- any ideas? - General Questions and Answers

HI,
I hope this is the right forum for this.
I recently purchased a new Huawei Honor U8860 phone which updated to the latest firmware version provided by Huawei (4.0.3) during the setup.
When I tried to connect it by bluetooth to my cars communication system (BMW) it connected OK, but some of the functionality that I used to have with my old Nokia N97 was missing - specifically it was unable to read SMS or emails via the bluetooth.
When I went into the advanced bluetooth settings (Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Bluetooth settings -> Advanced Settings ) there was no SMS, Message or Email options (only OPP (Object Push), PBAP (Phonebook Access) and Test Mode).
When I spoke with a friend who has the same phone he said that it used to be able to read messages via his cars bluetooth, but not since the firmware upgrade.
I've contacted Huawei but they are very poor at responding.
Does anybody know how I ccan resolve this issue? Is there an alternative ROM that I can use that will keep the functionality I have but add in the SMS/email over bluetooth functionality.
Many thanks for your help

You may try to install the BT app for Huawei U8860. Since, I may infer that you are onto ICS 4.0.3 so you might get that app easily for Huawei.

HTC Touch Pro Remote Sim Access Profile (rSAP) + Data Connections

I have been trying to use my Touch Pro with my Audi bluetooth kit which supports sim access profile (rSAP).
From reading other threads there seems to be a flaw in Windows Mobile 6.1, or HTC's implementation of it, as it does not work reliably with data connections enabled (would seem to be the main reason why you would have a Touch Pro!)
To make this work reliably you have to disable data connections in Comms Manager before the phone connects to the car.
Is there any way (or any other bluetooth stacks that exist) to automatically disable data connections when an RSAP device connects to the phone and then re-enables them when it disconnects?
I am using the latest official HTC rom 5.05.405.1 and the latest blackstone radio 1.14.25.24
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
I had problems using the Touch Pro in my Skoda as well (should be the same hardware, since it belongs to Volkswages as well). I found out, the problem came from the way the car tries to sync the contacts. Try to connect your phone and change the settings to sync only SIM contacts. This did the trick for me, I never disabled data connections on my Touch Pro. Hope it helps

[Q] Full Bluetooth DUN support?

Hi,
I'm currently running a stock Desire S and whilst I'm generally very happy with it there's one glaring omission - Bluetooth DUN tethering. I want to use my phone with the Mercedes Comand Online system, which uses Bluetooth DUN to connect to the internet. The default answer seems to be to use PdaNet, but I have tried the latest version 3.02 and it doesn't work. I know PdaNet works in as much as I can connect my laptop over DUN, but it won't connect through the car. I did wonder if it was because my phone is set up to use a proxy server on its connection but there's nowhere to enter this in the car - having said that, though, I did no configuration on my laptop and it just worked. I emailed June Fabrics who say they will try to support this in some future release, but in the mean time is there any other option?
Cheers,
Tim
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, but was looking all over the place to check how to get full bluetooth support with the DUN profile on my stock HTC Desire S.
Like tj80, I'm also keen to connect my Desire to my car (Toyota with the new Touch&Go system, which has DUN/PAN support).
Any ideas are welcome
I have the exact same issue with my merc as well. pdanet just doesn't work.
I don't really want to use a blackberry

I emailed JuneFabrics about PDA Net and also MobileStream about Easy Tether - both said they "might" implement full DUN but it's not a priority. I really don't understand why nobody thinks it's important given that it's the standard way of connecting mobile phones to other devices for data - TomToms for live traffic, lots of car manufacturers, etc, there was even an article on the BBC website today about how connected cars were the next big thing!
Cheers,
Tim
Download BlueDUN Trial app from Google Play, it works fine for Mercedes Benz Comand OnLine and also for Toyota Touch&Go (from version 1.12 )
New version was tested for Tom Tom Rider too
Thanks MikiBest. You made my day! Glad I could be of help

[QUESTION] Bluetooth Internet Access Help

I am using ARHD ROM (with Bricked Kernel).
My car can access and read out RSS threads and has a lot of interactive media functions, including being able access the internet via my bluetooth enabled phone. But I can't seem to get it to work fully, and really don't know if it is a ROM / Kernel / Phone issue or a car issue. I just don't know enough about the various bluetooth protocols etc, and as much as I research it, I keep going around in circes.
The car will connect to the phone and work fine as a bluetooth headset for telephone calls. It will also display the caller picture without issue and will access and read out my emails (using stock sense Mail client) and SMS messages. It also seems to connect to audio OK (although I never use it as it has a USB port that will accept a pop drive, so all my music is on the dashboard).
But the internet connection doesn't seem to work. I have looked into this and can't work out if it is a PAN or DUN profile issue. Soemtimes I can get the phone to show an internet connection being available to the car, sometimes it doesn't depending on which ROM I use and I can't seem to get any to work regardless.
Looking on the website, it claims the following:
How can I configure my mobile device for internet or BMW TeleServices usage?
In the operating manual of your mobile device you will find instructions on configuring “Access Point Name (APN)”; other names for this may be “Internet Settings”, “Modem Settings” or “Tethering Settings”. The required settings are available from your service provider. Please note that most Sony Ericsson mobile devices only recognise the first entry in the APN list, so it is recommended that all other APN configurations be deleted.
Can somebody please help me with this. I really am baffled as to how to get this to work.

It has been a year or 2 since I got bluetooth networking going. Today I tried to get my phone to connect to my windows 7 desktop and.... it couldn't even connect sadly enough. Anyways this is from memory so it may or may not be correct. I don't like posting incorrect stuff because you never know who will read/flame.
1. pair your phone to the other device
2. connect via bluetooth your phone to the other device
3. I used the app in the link below to turn on bluetooth tether. Your kernel needs to support this feature. Just a note, there are 2 apps off the link. One is wifi only, the other does bluetooth and wifi. Assuming you get this app, turn on bluetooth tether. I don't know if you should turn tether on then connect bluetooth. Maybe it doesn't matter.
4. This step I don't quite understand. The bluetooth tether should "offer" a network service to the remote device. The remote device in turn must recognize the service and use it. DHCP is the easiest to auto configure everything. If you need a name server, use 8.8.8.8 since that is a public dns server by our google overlords.

Bluetooth Tethering Issue

Hi,
I have recently (last week) joined the OnePlus party by getting myself the 7 Pro after being with Samsung since the S2 days.
I like the phone but there are a few issues I am having.
The main issue I am having is the Bluetooth Tethering. I need this for when I am in my car (Mercedes use this method for internet connectivity). I switch it on and try to connect but after a while it just tells me that the data connection is temporarily unavailable. My mobile data works fine so I'm assuming that isn't the issue. When I am parked on my drive and in range of my home WiFi and I try and connect the connection is successful. It is as if the phone is blocking the mobile data connection when accessing via bluetooth tethering. This wasn't an issue on my Note 9 using the same SIM.
Does anybody have a fix for this or are having similar issues? If this cannot work then it is a deal breaker for me and I'll be reluctantly returning the phone to Amazon.
On a side note I have even tried changing the dun status via ADB Shell after finding what was supposed fix online but it did not help.
Thanks
I am no Bluetooth expert, and it may not apply here, but there are a number of various Bluetooth settings that can be altered in the Developers setting. Maybe something there can help???
Hi Jaseman,
I shall look into that. Currently doing a full backup of the phone to my PC before doing a downgrade from Android 10 to 9. I'm hearing that 10 is buggy so I'm hoping that is the culprit.
Thank you for your reply.

Bluetooth always running and hidden

Hi this is my first post hope I didn;t screw it up. I have a Samsung A01 phone. I always enable developer options. I noticed that bluetooth is always running with GATT service And sometimes BluetoothOppService, PanService, and A2dpService. But usually just the GATTservice. I've stopped it in developer options, I've force stopped it in Apps menu. I've also restricted running in background in mobile data and battery and also clear data. Later I also did the same to Bluetooth MIDI Service and Bluetooth Test. ( I dont bother with those anymore. The permission won't let me Deny. They are greyed out. I;m unable to disable it. I have it off in the Connections settings. I've also gone to advanced in the settings and it will not let me put anything in the blacklist. I've erased connections and at this point I can't figure it out. Also in Developer options running apps I use report and it crashes immediately. I've turned phone on and off, I've put it in safe mode, and I factory reset it. And lastly the bluetooth icon on the drop down menu screen is never showing bluetooth is on which means its running hidden. Please help thankyou.
Bluetooth per se is neither an app nor a service, it's a network communication protocol ( defined in Androids Bluetooth API ) what apps can make use of.
By using Android Bluetooth API in Android apps, they can perform the following functionalities:
Scan for the available Bluetooth devices within the range
Use local Bluetooth adapter for paired Bluetooth devices
Connect to other devices through service discovery
Transfer data to and from other devices
Manage multiple connections
