How long does your battery last with screen on?
You can check in battery in the settings by clicking screen on
Mine usually gets about 4 hours with wifi on
Usually browsing and gaming almost 4 hours straight.

Although I have a P6210, so no 3G, but WIFI always on, 7 hours with browsing (mostly reading articles), on stock HC 3.2.
I didn't understand why the power lasts only ~5.5 hours while browsing and found out that Opera Mobile consumes much power.
Now, using Opera Mini, it lasts ~1.5 hours longer. I know it's uglier but for reading, it's perfect.

You should first check what is eating your battery (where you check your screen uptime). Or use cpuinfo for cpu deep sleep and betterbatterystats for processes or wakelocks. There must be something eating your battery.
Those guys with the much better battery life are probably P6210 users or P6200 without mobile data enabled all the time.

I will if i have time. But to give you a hint... It'll probably drain faster than normal. Common issue on all devices. Even iOS.
Exactly.
It will drain much faster, coz apps like Gmail will constantly try to sync.
But since I got free mobile data connection, I don't care.
3% off from watching a 20min video at Auto Brightness in a dark room, without mobile data & wifi on. 1% off on a 4~5hr. standy without mobile data & wifi on. I have not yet had the "full charge" in a while, which is charging only after the battery level hits below 20% or less. I have always charged at around 70~90% because it was advisable to charge it without letting the battery level being too low.

This completely opposes the video I just watched from YouTube on how to improve battery life. The video tells us that you should completely drain your battle once or twice a month .. which I can't see why so. I believe that only applies to the technology of batteries in the past

Exactly. The info in the video you watched is outdated and actually harmful to modern batteries. Heat is the killer of all Lithium composition batteries.

Big improvement of battery screen on performance,
I'm now on my 10th hour after being fully charged.
I had wifi on all the time
2g mobile setting only.
Brightness on mid
Was able to use the phone on with wifi , gaming, doenloading, surfing for 5:30 min and still has 3% left
Much better from my batt life before which could only handle 4hrs avg of screen on
What I did: downloaded setcpu and undedclocked some apps using profile,
It doesn't lag at all even fruit ninja . Because our phone is using dual core, we don't need entire processing speed to use the web of play some games , so when I underclocked
Min 200 , 500 on some apps
Max 800, 1000mhz some apps
Nothing changed , there are no lags or delays whatsoever

I'm sure most people have seen my results.
That's on CyanogenMod 7.0.2 with the LorDmod 4.4.2 VrIO kernel and Pinky Ultra Undervolt script. I've used CM7.0.3 and GingerBeast with various other LorDmod kernels and gotten very similar results, typically give or take a few hours.
Battery graphs without details are pretty pointless. Not hard to get a couple days out of it if you never use the phone.

No point in using wifi, I have GPS turned off as well. Minimal screen usage is my average usage but really, if someone can't figure out that a massive screen is the biggest battery hog on this thing then they should return it.
Can't screenshot ATM, but I have 91 percent battery remaining after 2 hrs and 50 mins. I have used the phone for texting all day so far (~80 messages while on battery) and my screen is consuming 74% of my battery, though nothing else is really running in the background. SetCPU 1017/245 with smartass governor is currently keeping my undervolted when asleep. My ROM is Inspired Ace by gtg465x running the latest stock ATT radio (Ace_Cingular_US_1.84.502.11-Radio-26_06_06 _30_M). I just ran the battery calibration listed here and am still working on eliminating the cpu intense processes as described.

LOL!!! Wow that is some awesome battery life you're getting on your GingerBeast ROM.
I think what dilli is trying to tell us is these types of threads have minimal value. Everyone uses their phone differently and the battery life is impacted greatly by this. If Joe Blow gets 3 days battery life out of SuperDuper v3.0 ROM paired up with the BestBatteryEver v2.5 kernel doesn't mean I will get anywhere near the same results.

The display on my inspire is what murders my battery. I mean seriously, if it is pulling 70%+ of your total battery usage, how much life can you expect with screen on for games, videos, browsing, etc. 9 hrs and 5 mins and 76% left. I have my phone locked to 2g networks when not using data, btw. that seemed to help. screen has been on roughly 30% of this time as I lock when not in use (between texts, as I text my gf all day usually )
I bet most of the folks here didn't use a Captivate by any chance... Use it, and u'll love the battery here.

Also, some of the forums suggest you recalibrate your battery when you flash a new rom... It wipes the battery stats and starts from ground zero. The app is in the play store Battery Calibration. Just charge to 100% and run this app it will do the rest. Don't think that is your problem, but it will give you accurate stats about your battery...
Here is the thread for the Instigator Kernel. If you flash you phone on a nightly basis, you will have to reflash this each time you update on a nightly...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721235
Another good program to run is CPU spy like I said. It will show you what your CPU's are spending all their time on. Once you get the new kernel flashed, just run that program. You should see more time being spent at the 192 Mhz range or the deep sleep when the phone is on stand-by...

I agree it is fast. I am not sure if he is on LTE or standard 4G... LTE would drain it if he is in a bad location... There are a lot of factors.... I am sure his huge screen being on has a lot to do with it. Brightness level??? Signal Strength??? ETC...
CM9 is known to be a little bit of a battery hog in the wrong situations... That's why I suggest a kernel that is aimed at GOOD battery life...
But do whatcha want...
Where I am I don't get real good service on Cm9 it says 4G and sometimes it's just H with 1 to 2 signal bars also my display brightness is set to automatic

Just wondering how many people actively use power saving mod on Verizon. Do you find it that you save battery life?
I actually does save battery life. It underclocks it to I think 1.1 ghz or something around there.

I use it and my battery drains like crazy but that could also be that I have little to no service at work where I use it most.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Well I should ask how much battery does it actually save you?
I tried it for a day or two. Then I rooted and flashed synergy 1.3 and I will never need it again. I didn't think it actually did that great of a job and I'd rather not limit my phone to get better battery life.
I use it and it seems to work. While at work I stream music on my walks during lunch a good half hour to 45 minutes on LTE. By the end of day I'm at about 60% when I get home. That includes checking Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and emails throughout.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Haven't logged it, but my impression is my battery lasts noticeably longer with power saving on. On a typical day I end up with around 60% left after work if I had it on vs. maybe 40% with it off. There are exceptions though.

I don't use it mainly bc I love the snappiness that dual core gives it.
When u enable power saver it kills one of the cores which greatly effects performance...
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Power saver drops the processor down to 1.35ghz and does save a bunch of battery. I used to have a problem with losing a little bit of snappiness in my launcher, but now that Imo's 12.2 kernel is up and running everywhere that performance drop becomes negligible. I do make sure to only have the CPU throttling running and sometimes the email / internet modifier. The other stuff is more of a pain than it's worth.
Does anyone use the option to analyze images and adjust screen tones?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Tried it on the factory touchwiz after the first day of not really messing with the phone and have 20% of battery left after 8 hours but quickly realized that I wasn't going to be happy with the phone underclocked as it were. I'm going to guess it clocks the phone down quite a bit more than you guys realize too.
Install CPU Spy on your phone and let it monitor where it sets the clock rates.

Incorrect. It reduces the maximum clock speed.
Power Saving Mode
If you read the description of what power save mode is, you will understand that it does almost nothing with little to no use but when you are playing a game it will restrict the processor from using too much power and the phone will change the color tone of white so the screen uses less power. So unless you are playing games all day with a white background (doodle jump) you shouldn't see a big battery saving.

I use it as well and think it helps. Also, if you go to advanced wi-fi settings and put "keep wifi on during sleep" and change it to "never", that saves battery as well.
Don't use it, but I'd like to be able to configure it to enter power saving mode around 15%. Maybe I can..

So is that with or without power saving mode? because if thats the case I tend to get that without 0_0. I guess the main reason I asked was because when I first got the phone I was easily able to hit 4 hours of on screen time and now im down to 3 hours =/ thats still plenty battery but I was thinking that maybe id get the extra hour back with power saving mode. Ive tried to keep it back on lately but i still get roughly the same amount of battery life.

- And of course the above apps running in background the entire time!
- Disabled many bloat, including Maps (I almost never use it)
- Google Now also turned off. Brightness set to Auto '0'

How does the screen time and battery compare to the Note 2?

So far, Note 3 seems better out of the box.

I also got 6 hours on my first cycle, though I didn't let the battery get below 15% before charging it back up.
Is there a certain way to condition the battery the first few cycles? Or does it not matter too much?

It shouldn't matter too much, li-ion or li-poly batteries don't have a memory, or shouldn't... I usually run it dead then charge to 100% the first few times ( no top offs) of course with my iPhone that's like 2 or 3 hrs
These are mine..
Edit: Guys, i just noticed that in my usage graph, wifi seems to be always on even though I set it to "only when plugged in"... hmm, a bug perhaps? Can anyone check theirs and report back here..?

I'm not a heavy user but i've made a few calls and done quite a bit of texting and messaging, i'm really impressed with the battery so far. This is my first cycle, i charged to 100% as soon as i got it out the box.

Yes it's probably a bug. It does the same thing on my phone.
Lets talk about battery life.
I for one am getting terrible battery life. I use the at&t variant 100% stock and unrooted, I get maybe 8 hours of use with 2 hours of screen on time if I'm lucky. I only have a few apps like Facebook , clash of clans, imdb and a weather app that has sync turned off. Maybe someone can provide some suggestions for me to try and track down my issue.

I do not have this phone myself, but I am thinking of buying it. Your best bet would be to root and debloat any unnecessary ATT software. I had the first flex and ATT had so many preinstalled apps. Second, would be to use a cpu control and change the frequencies or the governer. These are probably your only options until At&t decides to release 5.1

The only reason I haven't rooted yet is because I haven't found a way to return it to stock if things go bad.

Jeez, thats terrible! I have EU H955 version, 5.1.1, and i am always getting around 4h SOT. Never below 3,5 hrs, sometimes 4,5.
At first time battery life was extremely bad. What I did: I rooted, debloated using Titanium, then Greenify in root mode. There is one process named LG MLT that drains battery quickly, you should hibernate that one specially. Now phone runs cool and battery last much longer.
I noticed a big change when i changed the way the phone uses positioning service to only use gps instead of also using wifi and celluar network.
I'm getting around 3 hours screen on time, and even managed to play a little hearthstone (this game drains battery like hell)
All of this with the new 5.1 update
Wanna like this phone, but battery is concerning. My huawei mate 7 would still have 60% around this time Of day. I'm at 38% now with still 2 hours to go...

What about SoT? I can buy G3 32gb for 330e or this for 365e, but I read a lot about bad battery life, even worts that G3, and a lot of other bugs and heat problems, are they fixed with 5.1 and is battery better with 5.1, some ss? Thanks, anyone can answer.
The battery life on mine was a little better b4 the update. I used to get almost 2 full days with light to moderate use. I posted screenshots a while ago somewhere here. It's slightly worse after I updated to 5.1.1 but still can get a whole 24 - 30 hrs no problem. I'm on Sprint though.
Yah i just upgraded to 5.1.1 (available since yesterday for me) and the battery life is way better. I do to have auto-sync turned off though. Been using for 12 hours so far and still at 70% 1.5 SOT so far played a game as well.

Hibernating lg mlt seems to have done the trick. Greenify with out root took care of it. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Note I get through the day with juice left. Any idea what that process does?

Just disabled mlt. Hopefully that helps with battery life.
I am getting 2 days of use, with probable only like 3 hours of SOT. For me, more than acceptable, but I have noticed, BT kills this thing. If I stream in the car, forget it, it won't last half a day. Even when idle, if BT is on it's a drain.
