Volume rocker for Camera - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Found this app moments ago and it seems to work great if you want to use it to set the volume+ button for the camera/camera shutter.
Bad news is, it sets it system wide but you can tap volume down then slide the volume slider up. Holding down volume+ will launch the camera and tapping it one time will snap a photo. I can confirm this works on CleanROM 4.5

[Q] Camera shutter and media and volume buttons dont work

Camera shutter, media button and volume keys (zoom) stopped working. Recently flashed chronos brianlee version. Camera app opens from app folder but cannot take a picture or video. All suggestions are welcome.
Thank you
Do they work in openrecovery (to rule out hardware failure)?
Thank you for replying.
Yes. They do work in Open recovery.
When I hold down the shutter key to take a picture, it just tries to focus, a green box comes on, but does not complete the action. Oddly, the same result when holding either media or volume up, volume down keys.

[Q] Is there a way to set the camera button to vol+ or vol-?

I'm wondering if it's possible to map the camera shutter to a physical button. I had this on my Nexus One and it was awesome.
In the mean time you could use smile detection if its for self shots haha..
vital cantlye
What camera button?!
If you use the long button on the RHS of the phone, your wishes will be granted...
The volume rocker doesn't work, but the smile feature does.

Home Button as Camera Shutter Button?

We all know you can use the power button to take a picture in most custom roms, but with the s3 being such a large phone it's sometimes hard to hit the power button and tap to focus using just one hand. So how would one go about mapping the physical home button as the camera shutter button? Thanks for your input.
Anyone?
You can enable the onscreen buttons then remap the home key to start the camera and act as the shutter button when in the app. Also some camera apps allow you to select any pod the physical buttons as a shutter key.

Thanks for your reply but I'm looking for a way to map the physical home button as the camera shutter button. Using an on screen button would be the same as just hitting the camera shutter button on the camera app.
I'm in no way a developer but I feel like it would be as simple as changing the code in the camera apk to make the physical home button take a picture rather than the power button. Can anyone confirm this?
Bump
I knowfor HTC phone they make MOD for vol up for vol down to act as shutter button, I wonder if that would be able to be ported over number one, and if so if able to change the vol up/vol down to home button for shutter.

this method isn't the best though, it pretty much renders the volume button worthless IIRC even when not using camera app, i do remember i coded it into the camera app one time for HTC, maybe i can dig that up

How to change the action of the bluetooth selfie shutter buttons?

I've bought this wireless selfie shutter, but you have to download some other camera app to have it make pictures.
I'd like to just use the native camera app.
Plus I would like to use the IOS camera button as a video record button. I've actually managed to do it by downloading this app that will start recording in the app when you press the volume button 2 times up (what the IOS button actually does when I press it).
But once again I'd like to have it start recording in the native camera app.
I didn't really seen other apps what could like change the buttons or just do something else what I'd like to do. I'd like it to do the same as the Dimple.IO NFC buttons if you know what I mean.
Thanks!
Never mind! The one button can just take a selfie and I've changed the setting in the native camera app that it starts a video when you press a volume button
A mod can delete this thread, or if someone else maybe didn't knew this they can use my information

Volume Rocker, Camera Button, and "Vibrate on Touch" setting all stopped working Z5P

Volume Rocker, Camera Button, and "Vibrate on Touch" setting all stopped working Z5P
I noticed while I was at work today that all 3 of these things stopped working at approximately the same time after they were all working earlier today. The volume rocker will not adjust the volume and also will not work as the zoom button when the camera app is opened. The only way for me to adjust the volume (ring, media, or alarm) is to go into the volume settings which is a major pain in the ass. The camera button will not open the camera app and also will not take pictures. When the button is pushed with the camera app open nothing happens. I was taking pictures earlier in the day and everything worked fine. Lastly I noticed that the vibration feedback on the screen stopped. I tried turning the Vibrate on Touch setting on and off but nothing, and I also restarted the phone but nothing.
Anyone else experience any of these issues?

The volume, power button, camera button and vibratation motor are attached as one module to the motherboard, it could be that the wiring broke at the volume rockers and subsequently caused the 3 parts to fail. I suggest getting it checked out

Eh not what I was hoping to hear lol. Thanks. This phone has been craptastic since day 1, I haven't had it a month. I wish I would have returned it and just ate the restocking fees.
Pretty disappointing considering how great my Xperia Z Ultra was.
