Rogers 1.94 update! - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Just checked for software update on stock Rogers Firmware. 1.94.631.3 available for download OTA
Wonder if anyone updated?
I just recently got the phone, didn't have the chance to try custom roms yet. Planning to, due to rather average battery life.
If I update, will the current root methods n haxx work?
Thanks

I am using 2.2 with no problems, many of the devs are/will update their roms so we can flash w no problems.
I'm still on 2.2.. was waiting to see if the new updates are safe and stable.

+1 on 2.2 I believe there have been some issues with 2.3
Same, holding on version 2.2.2.0

I'm having no issues with 2.3.1.0, but like I said, 2.2.2.0 and 2.3.1.0 are the best to use
I'm still using 2.2. After the 2.20 root method I flashed 2.3 and it wiped everything and I was unable to mount to my computer or anything. That was almost a week ago so I'm not totally sure the status now.

Only reason I'm asking all of this is because I like having bleading edge
Though, from what I can tell, there are some people having problems.
I'll stay away from it until, say, 2.4 is out.
Thanks guys!

some older roms don't work with twrp 2.3.1.0.
I was wondering this also. I'm still on 2.2.2.0 because of possible issues with 2.3, but I want to update because I just have to have the latest version. But like thedauntlessone said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Until I hear otherwise, I'm sticking with 2.2.2.0.
Also was wondering the same thing. When I rooted, I was directed to the 2.3 link to recovery. Was trying to install 2.2 so I can install venom rom being as it gets stuck in boot. Anyone have a link to this older version?

New At&t software update

My girlfriend got this message on her AT&T HTC One X a few days ago but I told her not to update it until I find more about it, since she wants me to root her phone.
Any ideas what this update is? Or what will it do?

AT&T hasn't pushed the jellybean update yet. They're far behind everyone as usual. No tech sites have reported the update either. You should take one for the team and find out for us.
She did the update, it wasn't jellybean or anything, looks like it was just a security update because everything is the same.

Downgrade from 4.1 to 4.0.4 to flash ROM

Well I have an AT&T HTC ONE X and it was 100% stock but the SIM slot failed and I had to get a warranty replacement, and it has 4.1 already installed... Is there anyway to downgrade so I am able to flash CM10 or is there any way to flash CM10 right now?
Thanks.
Does the s-off exploit not work on 4.1? I haven't seen anyone try it

From what I know if you took the ota update then there's no work around into root/unlock bootloader/s-off as the update patched it up,so pretty much your stuck with the ota update with no root and anything else until someone can figure out another method

If you're on AT&T, no. Downgrading is possible, but you need s-off, and you need to root to get s-off. There is apparent root method for 4.1 on AT&T. One guy managed it on the x-factor exploit but no one else has been able to.

OK just go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37227608 grab the 2.20 ruu for AT&T only. It should say Cingular and ICS. Run that so you can upgrade. Don't download the 3.18 or jb, or else all of this was for nothing.

I agree that Samsung+Odin makes life easier. But I like the challenge in AT&T (and Motorolas). Whatever floats your boat. Glad you got it rooted. Can you put a [fixed] or [solved] tag in your title? That way people can easily find the answer instead of making a new thread

[Q] Looking to Root My One S

Hi guys,
I'm looking to root my HTC One S (S4 Plus) to remove junky bloatware by Vodafone and to change the crappy Vodafone bootloader which seems to have knocked out the startup HTC sound of the device (and yes I have tried adjusting volumes).
I really don't want to brick the device as it's still 10 months until my contract is over. I've never rooted a phone before either.
Do you have any advise and perhaps some tools for newbies?
Thank you!

You don't have to s-off, do you? I'm still running SON & had the latest update as well. Did have to use the htcdev website to unlock the bootloader, but it's alot easyer. Considering you're not really going to be a power user, that might just be the way to go...
Just remember you have to flash the boot.img using fastboot if you're going to use custom roms, appart from that I've not had any problems with it.

I'm looking to unlock the bootloader/root the device while still being able to download OTA updates (if anymore come...) and keep HTC Sense, if that's possible?
Simply to remove Vodafone's crappy bootloader that seems to have affected my phone's default bootup. My One S doesn't play the HTC startup sound, but my girlfriend's does and we're both under Vodafone via 24-month contract that ends in May.
I've used this procedure:

I guess. The One series (2012 and 2013) isn't even listed on the HTCDev website to unlock the bootloader. Perhaps Vodafone took the liberty of locking it instead? They've already plastered crap in the app drawer, that it wouldn't surprise me.

Well, I'm guessing custom ROMs would provide the latest version of Android wouldn't they? So I doubt OTA updates would be necessary (especially since HTC just ditched this damn phone). My only concern is if I could get Sense 5.0 as well?
I've heard of TrickDroid 10 having Sense included? I'd expect this phone to support the latest versions with it being fairly powerful.
