Hi All,
So Friday I unlocked and rooted my Verizon Galaxy Nexus for the first time so I could load Jelly Bean 4.1.1. I have to say, Wow! such a huge improvement from ICS. I love how fast and smooth it is. Its like having a hole new phone! But I have found one problem so far, and was wandering if any one else is having the same issue. So the problem Im having is with the camera... It looks like its a white balance issue. all the pictures I take are coming out with a yellow or green hue to them, and if you try to set the white balance manually to incandescent or any thing else it gets really yellow or green. I have also noticed that if I go to the gallery app, it won't switch to landscape when I rotate my phone to landscape to view my pictures. But if I go in to the camera and swipe left to get in to the gallery, then I can view pictures with no problem in landscape.
If anyone hase any ideas, or has noticed simular problems pls hit me up... I would love to get this figured out.
The sample picture I am adding to this should be white, not the hew it is...
I have a Galaxy Nexus SCH-I515.
I used ToolKit v7.0 to unlock, root, and load ClockworkMod...
I loaded JB411_toro_signed_071012-1130.zip and Jellybean GApps files to get it up to 4.1.1.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Matt,
So I loaded a different version of 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and all is well..

Issue w/ JB
In this case, it most likely is just a major error in the software itself, and will be noted by testers and fixed soon.
have a great day.
That was a software issue in the first JB release
Maybe try flashing the newest gapps?
I tapd that

I figured, I've sense installed cm_toro- user debugging 4.1.1 JRO03H vicious.20120728.002819 test keys
And it seems to be perfect, I haven't found any problems with it yet. So I'm pretty happy
Now I just need room root my Verizon XYBoard 10.1 to ICS...

I figured you could just install a new GApps over an older one. I'm kinda new to unlocking and rooting.. I've had my android devices for years now but never really got into hacking them tell now. There's a lot to learn.

thanks
i saw the update for the samsung galaxy S II not alot has changed the notification bar and touch wiz 4.0 haven't changed a bit. i was really hopping that it would and also the interface traditional android 4.0 phones have isn't there eather youtube is the same as 2.3.7 and nothing really changed its like a label and or a knock off update i'm truly dissipointed in what samsung and google have done in the past 5 months.
If you can't wait you can always download source and do it yourself

Ditto.
When the update is here, i'll download NOVA Launcher (i think) or one of those. I hate touchwiz. #sensefanboy.
This is what I actually tried to do with last week when I got the first build of my ICS kernel... It didn't work, but then, nothing else I tried with that kernel worked either
It was an interesting thing, had to remove plenty of things from the ROM just to get it to fit in our smaller devices. Personally, I don't think that's a bad thing ;-)
Just wish it booted.
Thread moved. Remember, the development section is for released work with download links. Otherwise, it belongs in general.

I am writing my experience with Jelly bean on inspire as I wanted to read one before I tried it but didnt find anything in detail. Here is how I did it and how it has been so far:
I used THIS to root my phone and THIS is the ROM that I used. Please note that you have to install google apps separately to get access to market. Download link is on the same page as ROM.
It went quite smooth and took me about half hour before I had the phone up and running again. I have been using it for last 2 days.
So far everything I have tried has been working:
TOUCH SCREEN: works perfect.
All HARD KEYS are working.
Camera works fine
Camcorder works okay, not great though (the recorded videos have few stutters).
ixMAT scanner dint work but BarCode Scanner did.
Wifi/network data works good.
GPS works fine, i traveled some 20 miles without any problems.
Bluetooth works fine.
Phone works good. Initially it sounded like "sounds was too loud for speaker". I was able to fix that by decreasing the volume just a bit.
Accelerometer and other sensors work good.
I haven't felt any difference in battery. It charged as quickly as it did before and battery life seems okay (although I have really been using it a lot).
Performance of jelly bean:
It is amazingly smooth and fast. Initially I missed the sense UI but once i got used to NOVA launcher, it feels great. I found a launcher called "LP Sense UI". It gives the same feeling as Sense 3.0 did ( I came from Stock 2.3.5 ROM with Sense 3.0) although it is not very customize-able. If you are Sense clock lover, you may like this widget called "Sense flip clock and weather". I like its visuals. Its music apps "Apollo" is quite nice.
You can see a screenshot of my home screen.
Feel free to post if you have any comments/questions.

Update: Just discovered that by default, the system disables wifi when the phone goes to sleep which results in higher data usage. To avoid this, System settings>wifi> hit Menu and select Advanced> Keep wifi on during sleep> always. This may result in a little higher battery usage.
Update 2: Almost a week now and it is still running quite smooth despite the fact that I have tried A LOT of apps and a lot of widgets. Occasional hang ups have happened when an app becomes non responsive and I have to wait a couple of minute; happened to me twice in a week.
I used to use this rom but now I'm on miui, pretty much better when it comes to camera and battery life.
updated the OP and added a couple of screenshots..
Jellytime from RB es working great, no big issues.

I get horrible WiFi signal on my wife's inspire with all the JB Roms. I'm fairly certain its the Kang Bang kernel. Haven't tried any of the CM10 nightlies yet, but every other ROM, ICS or GB, the WiFi signal is excellent. And I know its not my router, an Asus RT-66U, I get signal on my skyrocket from that thing out in the street. Lordmod's kernel was the same way, but Existz TalonAce always proved better. Hopefully Existz will give us JB soon.

Jelly Time is a solid JB rom and I liked it when I used it for a few weeks.
Right now, I use Codefire as my daily rom.
Pacman is a great ROM as well, in the dhd development section.

The AOKP JB is really great. So far no issues
JB & ICS Roms
In the last 3 months I have used 8 different roms, on CM10 latest nightly. Seems good.
I have swappted the radio trying to find the best one. I only get about 40ft of wifi with one dot.
had the 12.69s and now back to 12.59 and it seems to pick up a little better with less battery drain.
Still playing around to find the best combo.
Thanks for sharing. I'm looking to root my htc and wasn't sure which rom to use.
I currently have the most recent and up to date Ice cold sandwich ROM, and I was thinking of switching to jelly bean. Should I make the switch? I don't know much about these ROM's my friend does, and I've heard jelly bean is a great ROM.
I've been rockin cm10.1 and can never go to ICS or even 4.1.2 again runs so smooth

Was using Sabsa prime v 8.0 which had ICS 4.0.3 and now am running CyanogenMod 10.1 with jelly bean 4.2.1 and I am not considering going back. In fact I am looking at how smoothly this 10.1 runs on galaxy note 2 so when I upgrade I can get 4.1.2 Samsung touch whiz stuff off.

I tried a few of the various jellybean roms and while I really liked them I had a few probs, wifi signal being one, on another it would just freeze up on me, another had really bad sound artifacts when I would listen to music though headphones that I just couldn't live with.
I went to ICS aospx and am content, my battery life kills my wifes stock inspire 4g while running very smoothly...
I may give another one of the jellybean roms another try with a different kernel and see what happens... but right now i'm happy so we'll see if I change it.
Thanks for sharing your experience, based on this I am going to give this a shot.
which kernel and radio suits for jelly bean?
I'm running the JellyTime ROM as well, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it's working. I was running CM7.2 previously, and while I liked it, there was a persistent GPS bug that was not being fixed. Navigator would lose GPS after 2 min and never recover it, although I learned that the workaround is to toggle GPS while Navigator is running. JellyTime originally had this bug as well, which apparently made it into CM10. But one of the JellyTime updates fixed it, and hopefully it was back-ported into CM10.
I've only been running JellyTime a few days, but all the important things seem to work well. One minor issue is that the backlight on the hardware keys goes out after a few seconds, rather than staying on when the screen is on or being turned on by the proximity sensor. One thing I miss was a widget in CM7.2 that pulled down notifications, which was a convenience in lieu of swiping.
Cm10.1 smooth
if you like JB, you will also like CM10.1, it's smooth so far for me, everything works or the apps I used all works. I will update, if I find any issues.

I just flashed the latest version of cm10.1 and now i have an R over my signal bar. Can someone tell me how to fix this? This happened once before when i flashed the 12182012 cm10.1 and it took me forever to fix.

Yea we are in the hundreds of new posts on this one. Would help if some would read before they flash.
Agreed, it's getting ridiculous!
People know this.... 4.2 rom's have data problems. Practically every rom thread discusses this in a high level of detail. There are fixes if you read. Not gonna hand out this answer, as it's been said over and over in the forums. It's a source issue, even nexus devices are experiencing this issue.
Next, 4.2 will completely change your storage arrangement on your device. Legacy/and 0 folders will become dominant due to the multiuser features. Read, and learn what this will do, and how to recover from it if you downgrade back to 4.1. The op's all warn of these issues! :screwy:

Damn Duck. Even the devices released with 4.2 have problems. How they think gonna be stable on unsupported devices. I have $600 device. I want everything it came with to go faster but not willing to have cutting edge broke ****.
Dog, it took me all of 2 min of reading to know to stay away from 4.2 on our s3 at this time. I agree, the hit or miss on data is to risky, especially when I'm a year and a half from an upgrade!
I'm running stock rooted pure Google 4.2.1 on my Nexus 7, and it is still a WIP. For custom roms, the multiuser partitioning for source/cm based roms is causing headaches. So much is different than 4.1. Simple theme engine themes are borking the devices, as the legacy folder doesn't know where to apply it. Brand new nexus and s**t is broken, how the hell is our s3 gonna be any better running this android version at this time! Hell, cm10 based roms are still lacking full Samsung source coding....

Glad to see you duck. Haven't heard from you for a while. Hey man. I'm rockin stock deodexed, kerneled, tweaked, themed 4.1.1 with all the 4.1.1-4.2 inverted apps available. **** stable. Everything works. And no hiccups. I'm good to go. Running 1.72/384 with Quad of 6500. If they didn't see my right handed app button wouldn't know I was running TW. Fast and smooth enough for me and I can call home if I need to.
You too, been on eclipse aosp for the longest time. All decked out. Running a mix of Gunthermic's dh inverts, b-boys, and justins. Will be rocking some synergy once I finish up some beta theme testing

I've looked at all the settings, which ones did she adjust?
bump.....
Let us know!
I want this issue narrowed down. Let's please post current rom that the bug is present on, any rom that it is working on, and any possible fixes (other than adjusting settings!?! ).
So far I've read reports throughout the aosp threads that the audio is broken on the receiving side of the call (the person you called cannot hear you, but you can hear them). This is known to be the case on liquid, carbon, and rootbox.
I'm currently running liquid 2.4 and can confirm the bug is present. I currently do not have a fix, nor have I heard of one.

I was using Liquid Rom as well!
I read somewhere(cannot remmber where) but any AOSP based ROM will not work.
Currently only Touchwiz(TW) Roms work.
So I had to flash a TW Rom, and confirms it works!
Anyone else have a working AOSP ROM?

Again, great info. Didn't know it was across the board on all S3's.
Same problem here, both myself and my friend are having problems on our rooted AT&T SIII's running custom roms
I am running RootBox Nightly 20130514 on Verizon S3. I was absolute that my girlfriend was doing something wrong when she kept telling me she couldn't hear me. Glad to see I was wrong and there is an actual issue. Has anyone seen a fix for this posted? I guess I could flash over to a TW ROM. I haven't had TW since my phone came out of the retail box...
Glad this issue is being reported and seen by many.
No fix still
I went ahead and put back TW. Using Cleanrom now. Google hangouts works just fine. BUT I miss 4.2.2 and AOSP

Slim bean build 6 changelog says they fixed the Hangouts issue (haven't had a chance to test myself yet).
I'm too much of a newb to be able to post in the developer forums so I just popped on here to say: I just flashed AoCP 6 on my i896 and it's, by far, the best ROM I've used in a long time. Thank you so much for putting this together. It's like you thought of everything a past-end-of-life Captivate would need and included it and nothing else. My cappy's running butter smooth on 4.3 and even simple things (like my broken power button, etc) are addressed right in the ROM itself.
Well done and a big thanks to The Collective.
Also a quick shout out to Salty Bean 4.2.1 (my former ROM and also some excellent work).

I'll second this! I just had my IMEI repaired (thanks MobileTechVideos!!) and had them install the latest version of this ROM (6.4) and it makes my phone seem brand new! If I didn't have a Galaxy S3 that's running quite well now, this would certainly be a daily driver for me. For now, this will serve as my backup phone when I need it.
Great job to the devs on this and I highly recommend it if you are still running your Captivate as a daily driver!!!
