A problem of the MetalliKernel - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have installed successfully CM9 RC2 and the MetalliKernel, everything great but I had a problem when I set the CPU Minimum and Maximum to 150/1380 Mhz.
It always reboot after I set it and CPU returns to 300/1000 Mhz
Anyone have idea ?

You must tell it to re-apply on boot. You should find this option in settings) performance) CPU. Make sure set on boot is checked.
Oh yeah. Mis-read that one.

It seems that your tab cannot overclock too high or underclock too low. Please try to low the max to 1200 and min to 300 and try again.

I did, but it causes a loop : reboot > automatic set > reboot > automatic set > reboot.....

That happens even with 1200 so sad

Had same problem Updating to RC2 fixed it for me.

So now, do u have it fixed ? I'm currently on RC2

Yeah, it was working on RC2. You might try reflashing ROM and kernel.

Is there any way to get stable overclock(manilla rom)?

I have used most of the roms posted here and currently using the cr86 touch HD 1.6 with manilla. As with all the others i am using the omapclockplus(v 0.0.4) with omapclock consule(v 0.2) registered to 240(from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=977658) , and just with all other ROMS it works great after reboot but as soon as screen is off and back on again it reverts to 180(press top off button 2-se and it resets). Is there something that i am missing(doing wrong), or is there any other simple way to keep stable overclock even after wake up?
yes there is
You shoul use the program in the link you can oc yor wizard by this way ( contuniously and stable ) I am runing my device @ 260 mhz
http://rapidshare.com/files/194431878/OmapclockKeep.cab.html
This is the solution for you.
Best Regads....
ty cafein for your reply, but it didnt work either, as soon as i hit the top power buton to turn off the screen and hit it again to turn it back on - resets to 180, maybe i am installing it in wrong order?
ah i think i got it working now, did these steps(i had omapclockplus already installed and put omapclockkeep on top, but i guess if starting from scratch can start from step 4
1) unregister the omapclockplus
2) uninstall omapclockkeep
3) uninstall omapclockplus
4) install omapclockkeep
so far so good, will keep testing, ty again cafeine
you are wellcome my friend you may set idle value to 247 mhz and on value to 260 mhz thats my settings and it is very usefull.
Best Regards

you don't need to install anything else except omapclockkeep. Please just install omapclock keep and run it than you may set the idle and on values as as you want.
PS: I prefer these values idle : 247 on : 260 but to Oc your phone is your own risk as you know. Please remember that !!
been using for several days so far without a hickup! one thing though the idle setting - seems to be non functioning. I set it to 140(save batt while not doing anything(used to do the same in baterystatus before manilla)) and wait for 5 mins without touching anything, then check with ompaclock and it shows the On value. Not a big problem but thought i'd mention. Is there any program that can constatly display the mhz in the top bar next to clock? xpuscalar used to do that but its just way to buggy for wizards

[STOPPED] [GT-S7500] Galaxy ACE Plus - Custom Kernel (Stable) + OC Kernel

Disclaimer:
I don't take any responsibility if your phone explodes, your girl/boyfriend breaks up with you or any other stuff.
Do not flash on anything else than an GT-S7500! No L model or W model, else you get a shiny brick.
Don't forget your warranty will get void if you flash this trough odin. (Unless someone figures out a way to reset the custom binary counter)
So flash AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Based on official Samsung Sources. Governors copied from freexperia github. Other changes by me.
Features:
- unsecured
- smartassV2
- SavagedZen (beware: in sleep mode cpu speed is capped at 480Mhz)
- noop sheduler by default
- minimium frequency set at 122Mhz
- enabled 19Mhz and 61Mhz frequencies (use setcpu or similar)
Click to collapse
Tested with S7500XXLC2/S7500OXXLC1/S7500XXLC2. Flash with odin.
OC Build:
- Overclock frequencies seem to have the same performance but OC is indeed working, thanks to mb-14!
(Confirmed after many tests quadrant/setcpu/neocore cpu frequency is the same from minimal overclock to 1200Mhz)
- My phone as crashed 3 since I've overclocked it, so beware!
- Unless there is a better way of ocing, my newer builds will have oc disabled.
OC build v2 (31 May, 22h):
- Removed all overclock frequencies but 1200Mhz.
Bugs affecting all builds (even official ones):
- "Fuel gauge" might be bugged (maybe due to old/bugged samsung sources?) update:might be an rom bug instead.
- 3 pole headphones have noise in one channel and then the noise disappears (jack sensing bug?)
Sources Help & feedback are appreciated.
EDIT:
New kernel posted minimal changes again (samsung config updated from a new version LE1)
If you don't want an yellow triangle at boot flash my custom rom and then flash the kernel using the terminal.
1-Extract the tar.md5 file
2-Copy the boot.img to the sdcard
3-Use the terminal (or adb) as root to cd to the sdcard folder
4-Then type this "dd if=boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p8"
If you want to flash a custom recovery it works too, type "dd if=recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12"
Then you can flash whatever rom you want as long you don't use odin to flash an custom kernel or recovery you can keep your warranty intact (if you never flashed any custom kernel/recovery that is).
Keep in mind that this doesn't clear the counter only makes the triangle go away.

Custom recovery based on cm9 (5.5.0.4) posted (appears to work fine but more testing is required). Bootloop fixed. If you get stuck in recovery (unknown boot mode) go to "advanced" and choose "reboot recovery" when it is finished rebooting into cwm again choose "reboot system now".
DEVELOPMENT IS STOPPED. I no longer have the ace plus.
successfully flashed on my S7500DDLD1...only thing i noticed is after the flashing is complete phone doesnt boot normally but stays in download mode so i manually rebooted and i have ur kernel on my phone...take ur time and improvise it (startup scripts ,CM/MIUI support) , ALL THE BEST...
Wot's the benefit to flash custom kernel??.... Anyway gud step move ahead in making custom rom also for ace plus

Odd mine rebooted and worked fine on first attempt. I've only messed with one script so far. I'm still thinking what I should add to the kernel.

BUG :
1 . When on savagedzen gov unlocking the phone from sleep is delayed/laggy also if u r listening to music and the lock the screen then the music starts lagging tried increasing the min freq still the same , may be something like a deep sleep or sod bug..

Strange I can't seem to make it lag on savagedzen. The UI feels slower but music isn't lagging. Do you have any sound effect enabled?
Edit: I've got lag when using the EQ and waking the phone.
Edit 2: I've uploaded a hopefully fixed version, let's also hope that the changes that I made won't screw up the battery life.
flashed test kernel 3
the same bug exists wen used with EQ but the intensity of the bug is only 20% compared to the previous one also increasing the min freq to 480 completely nullifies the bug...also with EQ off the bug doesnt exist
will see how the battery life is... btw have u played with the drivers/bus to change the battery life...?
I can't get any lag at all now (after v3). Can you give my all your parameters? EQ settings, mp3 bitrate, where is your music stored and if using an sd card what type of sd card are you using.
I've set the minimum at 19Mhz and on air plane mode and by morning I still had the same battery than yesterday (89%).
The only thing that I changed was the cpu frequency table to include 800 Mhz at the same voltage than 600 Mhz and so far it seems ok, but might not be true to all phones.

I don't see any new kernel versions on the Samsung open source release center.. I'm still going to test oc did you change anything else than the CPU frequency table?
Edit: Overlclock is working! Thanks to mb-14!
Anyway it looks like the cpu when on OC is always working at the same frequency, since by overclocking it to 1017 I get an 150 ms reduction on setcpu native bench. And it remains the same for all the other frequencies.
For what I've understanded of PLL and CPU clocks looks like the cpu is running at 1200 MHz. (In the frequency table you can claim any frequency but it doesn't mean the cpu is running at that speed)
Edit: With OC my phone crashes after a while (ram dump mode)
Edit 2: Neocore doesn't seem to care too about the cpu frequency I set above the stock 1008Mhz. From 1017Mhz to 1200Mhz the score is always the same (85,6Fps)

[Q] How to Overclock CPU & GPU that survives a reboot ??

I am new to overclock things, I am running on stock 2.3.6 today after a prolong research I managed to overclock my CPU and GPU. I've followed the following Method:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/14511-opptimizer-projekt-milestone-overclock-for-omap4-devices/
I've done everything except the part i was not able to understand:
"Loading at Boot/Scripts:
The new update.zip's will install a basic init.d script to "/system/etc/init.d/00opptimize". If you've found settings that are "stable" for your device, and you'd like to run these at boot, you may edit this file accordingly. Be default, this script only loads the kernel modules. This requires your ROM to have init.d support to work. If you cannot find a method of getting init.d working, you can use Script Manager to execute this file at boot."
Now whenever I am restarting my phone it is going back to its stock speed, I just want to know that how can I set it to work even after restart.
I kindly request Jim, lkrasner, JRW 28,alteredlikeness,rdavisct,cogeary andApex_Strider to help me with this issue as i know our phone is capable of handling 1250MHz CPU and 384 MHz of GPU Speed.
Thank You.

CPU overclocking can be tricky, if not downright frustrating as hell. Its a matter of testing, and running at slightly bumped-up speeds over the course of the OC'ing process to find a stable CPU frequency setting. Not all users can hit 1.2GHz or higher, whereas others can. It depends on the device, and nothing is really 'static' as far as "across the board" potential CPU clock speeds for our device. There is an init.d support .zip that can be flashed for roms that do not have init.d support (such as stock rom) but this will not work for ICS or JB versions since they are running newer kernels and as the init.d support is designed to work on the "older" kernel modules.

I've downloaded moto_init_d-signed.zip and mo_simp_1.5_edison-signed.zip from http://code.google.com/p/opptimizer/downloads/list and flashed in CWM now I've init.d in my /system/etc/init.d
I've successfully overclocked my phone to 1250 MHz for CPU and 384 MHz for GPU Using:
# echo 3 1250000000 1390000 > /proc/overclock/mpu_opps
# echo 384000000 > /proc/overclock/gpu_opps
I've even confirmed my speed in setcpu and by using it says I am running on 1250 MHz, and my phone is very much stable I played modern combat 2 for around 1/2 an hour and used my phone for around 3-4 hours without any bootloop.
Only the problem is that I am not able to survive my overclock after reboot. After reboot it is reverting back to 1000Mhz

You have to physically change the echo table values using Root Explorer using the text editor. Look for this section in the 00pptimize file and change echo 3 at this code line:
# Droid3/Bionic/Atrix2 stock Settings
# echo 3 1000000000 1375000 > /proc/overclock/mpu_opps
# echo 2 800000000 1313000 > /proc/overclock/mpu_opps
# echo 1 600000000 1200000 > /proc/overclock/mpu_opps
# echo 0 300000000 1025000 > /proc/overclock/mpu_opps
Then, click back to save the .bak file and reboot. Changes should stick through reboot after this.

Correct. I linked you to that post since it kind of shows how to get to and edit the 00opptimize file - also, make sure you delete the .bak that gets created - if there is a .bak file in the init.d folder, you will bootloop!

Indeed, deleting the .bak file created after changing the echo table values is a key step. I forgot to tell him that, since I always delete without even thinking about it -done it so many times it almost comes as an involuntary response after editing the CPU frequency scaling!

CPU speed is not automatically set on boot (AOKP) ??

Hey guys,
I'm using AOKP build 5, but the CPU settings (under: Settings > ROM Control > Performance > Performance > CPU Settings)
is not automatically set on boot if I set to 300-1008 Mhz, and I already tick to SetOnBoot option (but after reboot it goes back to 300-1200 Mhz)
Do anyone know how to fix this bug/issue ?
