Delete the PC58IMG.zip from the SD card or take out the SD card.

Yup, Delete or Rename the PG58IMG.zip file.
You can also pop the SDcard out before it first goes into the Bootloader.

Yeah remove your SD card until your in recovery or delete the PG58IMG.zip from it with your pc/laptop

After upgrading with a pg58img it is ALWAYS necessary to delete or remove after the upgrade because the file will continuously be trying to upgrade It's self if you do not do this as you found out. I personally after upgrade take out my sd card and pop it in a card reader then plug into computer and delete the file this way. Then put my sd back and I'm good to go. Hope this helps and explains why you must delete the file. After the file is deleted your problem will be solved.

There are some ways around this such as pulling the sdcard prior to the scanning performed by the bootloader. However, just to be safe, remove the zip from another machine (tablet, pc, etc)

[Q] Big Help Please

I did a full wipe and i forgot to put in a CUSTOM ROM in the SD CARD..
what do I do!??! help
Don't quote me on this, but you should be able to put your SDcard in a card reader and put it on your card as PD98IMG.zip and Hboot will flash it.

Download the custom rom and place it on the sd card. Boot into recovery, do a full wipe, install custom rom.

This is true. I softbricked mine the other night pulling fonts around. Pull your sd card out and go to hboot. (you could leave it in if you DO NOT have a pd98img on your card) then reinstall after you get to recovery. As posted above you should still have your original rom on your sd card flash this if you don't have a cardreader. Good Luck!
where can I get this pd189.img
Download the ROM you want to your computer and rename it exactly to PD98IMG.zip and copy it to the root of your SDCARD. Hboot will automatically install it.

its easier to just put the rom on your sd card and boot into recovery..... Did you not make a nandroid back up? If you didn't then maybe that is something you might want to start making a habit of...
Get into recovery from hboot. There is an option in there to enable usb and you can use it like an flash drive like in android. Here are the steps.
1) boot into hboot (volume down then power button)
2) use the volume rocker to go to recovery
3) in recover scroll down to mounts and storage
4) scroll down to mount usb storage
This should allow you to view your sd card like u do in android when u select usb mode. From here you can put your rom on unmount and install. Good luck hope this helps.

[Q] Cannot restore backup

I just tried to flash Thunderstick 2.2 via Rom Manager. I did a full wipe and backup just to be safe, but when it restarted it continually gets stuck on the boot splash screen. I have tried restarting several times over the last hour, but have had no luck.
I have even tried to go back to the bootloader to revert o my old changes, but it immediately tries to upgrade MDM9K and RADIO_V2.
This is as close to having a bricked phone I have ever been(slightly terrified), does anyoen have any suggestions on how I can just get back to my last working set up??
Thank you so much!!!
Did u back up from rom manager or from recovery? I had same issue when backing up from rom manager, I strictly use recovery now.
Don't be terrified just get those .Img files off of SD root and yu should get to recovery
If your not flashing an
Img file keep it in a seperate folder

I backed up from rom manager, so lesson learned there. I'll use recovery from now on.
Any pointers on how I can get those IMG files off my SD card if I cannot mount it via the phone? My computer sees the sdcard, but since it isn't mounted I can't do anything with it.
I used a mini SD card adapter. Yu can keep them on the card just keep them in a folder. Good luck and keep learning

Sound to me like you left the radio image at your SD root, so everytime you try and get into recovery it's going to try and reload the image file.
Check your SD card root and either remove or rename the PG05img file. (either put the card in a sd reader or into another phone and use something like astro file manager to check)
Also, how long did you wait for the phone to boot up? I haven't load the rom your talking about, but I know other roms I've loaded can take some time on the first boot to get past the boot screen (like sometime upwards of 5 mins or so).
Not sure if any of this is any help. Good Luck.
It is definitely the fact that I forgot to move the radio.. Dumb mistake.. I'll just have to move it when I get home and can use my SD reader.
Thanks guys!

why don't you just take the sdcard out, put into your computer/laptop and delete that file ?
Or take out the SD, boot into hboot, then recovery and delete the file.

I'd probably go with this route. But simply using common sense.. why can't you just take out your sd card and boot up your phone? You could probably wait until the phone is ready to go when it loads up OR insert the sd again while it's on the loading screens.. can you not do that?
I could be wrong, and someone correct me if I am! But I don't recall a phone requiring the sd card to boot up

what if i didn't deleted the PG58IMG from my memory card after installing recover?

what will happen?thanks!
If you try boot into recovery using the key combination then it'll reflash the firmware I think.
you will be asked if you want to flash the file again.
Just say no by pressing the correct volume button.
You wont be able to get into your recovery until you delete the file. Take the card out and delete the file and you should be ok.
If you don't delete then every time when you boot in to bootloader it will ask you to flash recovery again.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
Those are a lot of incomplete answers.
It will not allow you to reach the recovery or any other options in the bootloader because the bootloader will read the file and ask if you want to update, if you say no, it just reboots. If you say yes, it reflashes. The only way to get back your bootloader and recovery is to delete that file.
I had to use another phone to delete the file from my SD card as i facing continuous bootloop...
dont need second phone
take the sd card out,
boot the phone into the boot loader
go to recovery
it will start counting down or whatever looking for the sd card
put the card back in
it will see the sd card
it will continue on into recovery
connect to pc
mount usb in recovery
delete img file
reboot now if you like everything will be back to normal
* i believe this will also work if you put the sd card in after the bootloader is loaded before you go to recovery, the card just needs to be not present while the bootloader is loading. i believe it checks the card when it loads the bootloader, but after the bootloader comes up you can put the card back in then proceed to recovery

indeed, agree 100% with you. the adaptor is the easiest and fastest way to copy/delete that pg58img file.
if u lucky, u can get 2x card reader for £0.99 (ebay)... and sell the 2nd one (just done that )
Ceed is on the correct path, but you don't even need to go that far. If you simply take out the memory card, boot the phone, then put the memory card back in, you can delete the file using any file explorer program from the market. I prefer Root Explorer, but really anything will work. Hope that helps.
You don't have to delete it. Simple as 'adb reboot recovery'

Unbootable phone

Hi,
I just tried to update the radio on my phone, and now it is stuck on boot. I am shown a white screen with the htc logo.
I have tried to go into the recovery menu, but as the radio is located on the SD card it automatically tries to reinstall, and doesn't allow me to reformat or otherwise. How am I able to get out of this?
I don't have any access to the SD card otherwise to delete the file!
adb reboot recovery
I hope you enabled USB debugging...
If not, you need a SD card reader or a second phone to delete the zip from the SD-card

I don't seem to have adb access when I turn it on. I did however remove the SD card from the slot, and perform a factory reset / clear. Now boots up, however the radio doesn't work.
So people are aware, if you're using Reaper, don't update the radio to the ICS version! Otherwise I assume you will be in the same pickle I am in.
