Jelly Bean for HTC evo 4g lte - General Topics

I have been looking around for the development of a jelly bean ROM for the evoLTE but I only see it for the og evo. Does anyone kno if they have started it or where I can read about the progress?

I've been looking for the same thing but so far no luck. Your options as of now are limited to whenever sprint gets around to updating but Kushdeck is working on a CM10 port. I'm a new user so can't post links but go to twitter and look for kushdeck and you will see about 1 day ago he posted his port.

Thanks! That's what I have been looking for, I just didnt think to look on twitter. I have a twitter account but I never use it but i guess I'll have to now lol.

Have you had any luck with it? I keep running into a "Failed" prompt when I try to install from TWRP (recovery).

No I havent tried to flash it yet, i wanted to wait until more things were working. Right now I'm running Husker's senseless rejuvenated rom OC'd to 1.8GHz! super smooth!
@Xpertss thanks for that, that is awesome that it already has such great progress even with most things not working its still awesome! Cant wait to flash it when its more stable!

This rom is top notch and has been for quite a while. Just because its not officially on xda doesnt mean its trash. Maybe its not posted here because of comments like yours...
Things that make you go Hmmmm
I wont flash because I'm on hold until virus is done cooking. BUT, deck's roms are very nice. From the couple I've run they were always more stable then CM was. It's worth a test if you're an AOSP junky.

This ROM not only one of the first 2.3.4 stable ROM'S and Video on Talk works AND it allows alot more configuration of how the OS works....
Try it and decide for yourself....
I've been using this ROM since pre7 and won't ever switch to anything else.
ive always heard about this DEV but neva found his ROMs.....prolly cause i didnt dearch hard enough.......thanks for this......giving it a try now......GOOD POST!!!!!
I for one will give it a try. Some people have no respect. Why would anyone that has no interest in this Rom read the post and then dog the dev. I can't wait to run jonathan413's Rom because he must be an awesome dev and is offering a AOSP Rom with all new features and morphs our phone into a beautiful woman to do whatever you want(or man if that's what you prefer).
I was going to post this but didn't want to with out decks permission. You beat me to it! lol.
Great rom tho, i been using deck's roms since his Beta 2.3.3. Its a great rom and very stable but 1.1 has a MMS issue. FYI. Still a great rom and most CM7 themes work on it too, especially Dark horse!

I'm using this rom with the latest cfs sz kernel. Runs like a champ. Best my phone has ever run. I sent a mms message without a problem. Haven't received one yet though.
His rom is a very good one I rock this and Evervolv now for weeks but you do realize there is a thread pointing to his PPCGeeks page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000676 this is how I originally stumbled on his quite smooth rom... Just an fyi, if this info is out already my bad!

ICS amazing on Cappy

I just wanted to say thanks to guys for the work on ICS on the Captivate. I'm an experienced flasher (almost addicted), and I'm impressed. Thread can be found here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363760
I did a few things little different because I've never quite liked the CM Rom, but that's just me. I flashed mine over Cognition 5v2, but you have to twice. Also, I had to go back and put on the uckb1 modem....and started getting 2 to 3 bars on my signal where I used to never get any, with any phone. Slapped in Contol Freak and overclocked it to 1.3 ghz, Volume Control+ for some volume, and this sucker is blazingly fast, amazingly stable, and makes the Cappy even that much more impressive.
Sad part...two days ago was showing off my Super Soldering skills I did on applying Adam's Unbrickable Mod (yes I had my phone apart with the board in my hand in the middle of Wal-Mart's parking lot) when my screen slid off the car and sadly is now cracked....and it's still amazing!
The crazy crap that happens at Wal*Mart. Wtf lol

I love ICS on my cappy, I used Onecosmic's ICS 4.0.3 RC2.11 for i897 and couldn't be happier, I went from a non-rooted stock 2.3.5 to a rooted ICS and JVT modem which effectively fixed all my GPS woes as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398223
Absolutely love ICS. Thank you to all that worked on it. My phone has been really stable and usable. Love it. I was planning on selling it and invest into something new but not anymore. I'll use it until it dies or someone gifts me a newer phone. **Doesn't happen often.
Thanks again ICS team.

I'm pretty excited about the work and progress of MIUI's version of ICS

Teamhacksungs ICS build 13 is what I am using now, and it is very stable. The main advantage for myself is the increased battery life, way better stock web browser, among other things, you should give it a try. (I have been using it since way back, like build 3, lol)
They updated today to build 14 but I don't see any improvements in it that are relevant for the way I use the phone, so I am going to skip 14 and see what happens with build 15.
Hope this helps.

Flash back to stock first (I use kh3 one click with cwm) then flash teamhacksung Rom, let boot fully, flash gapps 7.1, reboot and enjoy.
You must flash back to stock gingerbread first cause u probably have voodoo enabled on ur file structure, therefore ics won't install.
---------- Post added at 05:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:14 PM ----------
Here is a link for kh3 Odin one click, with custom cwm (boogs kernel), this is what I use before flashing ics, works every time.

Glad it worked out ics is like a totally different experience.
I can't go back to gingerbread after ics, lol. I also found cm7 (181) to be very stable too .
Just be sure before flashing custom roms, its a good idea to keep that one click handy due to differences in file structures, it avoids a lot of frustration.

[Q] Mods, Stable Rom/Kernel combos, Scripts ect?

Okay so I am new to the Nexus S 4g (crespo 4g) and i'm just wondering what some good ROM/kernel combos are, I'm currently running paranoidandroid and it's not bad but i want more speed, also the RAM on this phone isn't that great so are there any ram scripts available? and since there's no ext sd is there anyway to partition so i can move apps/data/cache to sd? I work so much I don't have time to thoroughly search for this info like I used to be able to... Thanks in advance
As far as the kernel goes, i have always stuck with matr1x. there are quite a few rom options out there but my top pics are AOKP and Euroskank kangs. Also Rascream is definitely worth checking out. I would recommend running the phone without scripts at first so you have a baseline then if you add scripts later, youll know if they are working or not later on. Not sure about moving apps/data/cache. good luck

Help!
I have been experimenting with a lot of ROMS on my Rooted Nexus S (I9023) and so far haven't been able to find a single stable ICS ROM!
Frustrated with my experience, I went back to stock GB ROM which has now got automatically upgraded to ICS (4.0.4).
However, since the time the ICS upgrade has been done, I am unable to flash clockwokmod recovery on my phone! Even superuser permissions don't seem to work!
Can someone please help me with this problem & also suggest a stable ICS ROM with everything working?
Thanks!

hi mate, I've been running Codename 2.0 for past 3 months ( prior JB), never had a single issue, no reboots and other crap, only issue is that ur start up tweaks don't stay after reboot.
Btw rom has been left without support.

[PORT] [JB] [Galaxy Nexus] Stock JRO03E

Hi all! This is my first attempt at a rom, so there are definetly going to be bugs.
This rom was ported from the galaxy nexus stock rom
Ill just post the bugs im aware of, and add to the list when people post them.
Bugs:

First boot will give tts error, just ignore
Flash instructions:
Must be on ICS ROM!
Wipe data/cache
Wipe davlik-cache
Install zip from sdcard

If you just Google "Project Butter", you'll find a ton of links about it. They will prob do a better job explaining than I will but I can try.
From what I understand, project butter was one of the major changes Google made from ics to jb. It is meant to make the phone quicker and more responsive by making some tweaks to GPU rendering I think and some other things. The team that released Cm10 for the infuse tried to include the code but it caused stability issues on our phone. It did make the phone seem "snappier" but it would randomly freeze so they had to remove the code.
I'm sure there is a lot better information to b found on the web.

I just tried to flash it a couple times but couldn't get past the Samsung Logo. I tried once straight from CM10 and then once after first flashing an ics rom to get blue ics recovery.
Could just b user error but I used the same method as I always do. Full wipes then install. Maybe it was a bad download. I didn't do a MD5 check.

Just food for thought... CM10 is still in the early development stages.. Its probably a bad idea to start "porting" other ROMs since the actual files that are MEANT for our phone are still being worked on. For project butter, it involves updating the PVR drivers. JT had ported the code over from the crespo kernel to update the PVR drivers, but something seemed to conflict with it as it had random freeze ups. The reason this hasnt been fixed yet, is it is a HUGE change.. Literally hundreds of lines of kernel codes are changed/removed/added so its not a simply thing to pinpoint. Entropy is taking a look this weekend as he found some things to be a mess.
Also, you might want to give some credit in your OP... ALOT of people including myself worked incredibly hard to bring CM10 to the infuse, so its the least you could do for using it as your base.
First off, congrats on getting the port to work, but I have to agree with pretty much everything Scott said. Unfortunately what you mention trying to accomplish is going to take more than just zipping a few files over the top of an existing ROM.
As a good rule of thumb it is always advisable to get permission from the original source if you are going to use it in your build, and from the sounds of Scott's post this hasn't happened. We all like new things and all are trying to improve or phone experience, but it is important to be respectful of the time and effort of those that have come before.
Food for thought as you continue your endeavors and best of luck to you.

Great Job in getting the Port on it's feet!
edit: Apologize for upsetting those that didn't understand me, or for me not being clear...
I wouldn't mind helping test out at all, send me a PM or just tell me what's up in a post on here.

MIUI, what happened?

So, I have done plenty of research and come across dead links and scary ads. And I have been flashing and flashing.. with no success. First, let me explain why i'm even typing this... because Miui, in my 2 day experience with it has been the cleanest rom ever, and i love it BUT......
I started with miui.com but since the Miui Devs haven't made a stable release for HTC Evo Shift they don't have a rom available to download there. Then i went to miui.us which was filled with roms! the only versions of Miui for HTC Evo Shift available are 2.3.23 and 2.3.30 and this would seem okay but unfortunately neither of those versions work correctly. And they don't contain just simple bugs. the PHONE app doesn't work unless 3g data is turned off (When trying to receive calls a "com.android.phone has stopped working" message will appear and it will when trying to call as well. after that it resets mobile network). i've been looking everywhere but i can't find a fix that will work.
I found a fix on a thread that promised to do the trick by replacing "framework.jar" in the /system/framework .zip file for installing. But i tried twice and came across the same problem
I just want a stable version of Miui for my precious HTC Evo Shift. Miui Pyromod ROM fixes the phone problem and it works on daily bases just fine but it still lacks stability. I WANT A PERFECT MIUI PORT FOR SPEEDY.
...and this is when you come in:
Do you guys have any links(more researching), ideas(ways to fix the phone app problem), will to help, or even fix the rom for us:laugh:?!
I have the last MIUI.us release for the shift with the phone app fix applied on my computer, I can try to upload it later for you.
Edit: I found it on my windows partition and starting to upload now, will be a minute though because I am downloading gigs worth of stuff at the same time.
should be 2.3.30 with the fix

The extended settings mod gives u some extra tweaks to play with. You flash the overscroll zip through recovery like a rom, then install the apk.
The apps name will show up as miui control panel

There's also PyroMod (its 2.1.20 I believe, it didn't have the phone problem) on ROM Manager, one of my personal favorites.... I've been trying to get a more functional MIUI v4 working on the Shift but alas I have not gotten it working yet... I'm still trying tho. I love MIUI!
PyroSucks!

Yeah it's on the back burner right now, I gotta finish other projects but I'll be going back to it soon... I probably will need help, I've already made three attempts and it never gets past the first lock screen.

I can always use testers gonna finish up on my MotoBlur ICS ROM and try and get back to MIUI V4. Or v5 whichever I can get working. We need a 4.0+ MIUI ROM... the EVO has like ten of them. We have one that was a WIP.
I'm so lonely!
has anyone experienced roms that will not send texts if they're over 160 characters? i know miui turns them directly into mms and it doesn't cause any problems. and i remember a rom gave me an option to "split sms" and it fixed it, but i dunno!

Well, if you want a solution for any rom, you can use GoSMS and in settings just check the "split messages" box
I think there was also a zip that you could flash to fix this somewhere...but it mightve been for certain android versions only
