Hello all,
My AT&T HTC One X running RebelROM 1.1 appears to be tapped.
I have Beats by Dre Mixr with control talk (Mic & Remote) , and I can hear myself when I'm loud through my beats.
Also when I'm on the phone I hear myself echo through the phones speaker.
I was wondering if I'm tapped or if it is software or if you guys are experiencing it too,
Thanks.
Every AT&T phone I've ever had echoed from time to time.

I don't use headphones, so I guess it's possible.

Yeah I use headphones sometimes to make calls, it echoes over headphones worse than just calling using the earpiece.

Never really paid attention until I noticed that I couldn't really hear you tube videos and music! Which was fine before, it was loud enough! So it was then I realized sound was only coming out one side so dunno!
I'm getting a replacement either way and I'll compare the two!
...
it's been confirmed numerous times that one is a mic and the other is a speaker.

i use a program like total recorder to boost the volume of my ringtones, then copy them back to my sdcard. there are a couple of free apps online that do the same.

Wow! Can't believe they sent you a replacement for a problem that doesn't exist.

How is that lame? You would prefer two speakers and no mic? Then it wouldn't be a phone, would it?
2 speakers and a Mic would be nice. Other than the noticeably low volume I love this phone.

volume+ seems to let you do some audio tweaking i had the same problem where my audio was all the way up and wasnt very loud i downloaded and installed Volume+ i think it is on the market not sure but this allowed me to run my volume at 1/2 up and its loud as heck
it sets speaker, headset and as well as bluetooth volume levels
This doesn't allow me to boost past factory settings
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
any help? they aren't loud enough
you can boost the headset volume by using amplifiers and using voodoo to increase the dba limit. For speaker, it's no blackberry so it won't be amazingly loud sorry

Yes! LOL
seriously I got it on 10. Also try best quality for better result and don't jump more than 3 or 4 increments at one time. Doing so will kick in a noise gate effect on the speaker and actually make it very quiet.
Yesterday I was talking to my friend on loud speaker and noticed sound only coming out of the right speaker. I checked music after the call and noticed the same. Is it possible there is only one speaker and the left side is the mic? Or perhaps my phone isn't functioning properly? I'm on Weapon G2x 3.0 with ICS Theme.

Hey guys! Tonight I just noticed that my external loud speaker sounds really weak and low. I have it turned all the way up and its low.. I know my battery life is in the yellow with 21% left. Does the phone lower the volume when battery gets to a certain point? This phone has been flawless. Now I'm afraid it has a problem

I think the obvious thing to do here would be to charge your phone and see if it goes back to normal. Agreed?

Agreed. Lol. But I just did a google search and found several people complaining about the same thing. They said the phone was working and loud speaker was fine. After a few weeks the speaker was really low.. They restarted the phone, and it was loud again. But after a few days went back to being low. Maybe software issue?

I just charged it thus mm ironing and rebooted it. Same problem. I would like to avoid a factory reset. I went through 3 different phones within a month. Not the One x. This is my first. They're going to think I'm crazy for walking into att and tell them there is a problem with this phone now. I see the same people all the time.

Hello,
Only the loud speaker is affected? Headphones work fine?
Do all types of sound have the volume problem, Calls, Videos, youtube, Music? Does your ring tone come out at full volume?
Do you use google nav or any other similar app that outputs commands and such through the loud speaker? I ask because I read somewhere (maybe here on xda) that people were thinking it was maybe due to such apps.

Hopefully it's just a software issue. This phone is flawless. I don't want to take a chance and return it for one that has more problems..

Ok so today I found out that the volume does not change with the last 3 or 4 pushes of the volume up button, it does not increase. Nor the same for lowering. It's like its stuck at 60% volume. What do I do..? Return it for a replacement or stick with it?

I have the same problem, only noticed it the other day when I decided to play some music the volume was really low on the external speaker so I decided to make a phone call and the volume seemed low in both the earpiece and external speaker so out of dumb luck I decided to restart the phone. Volume got louder in both but eventually got lower again after a few days. Also, noticed that the external volume doesn't seem to change with the last 2-3 clicks up or down.
Hoping this is a software issue since otherwise it works great, don't really want to return it and possibly get one with other issues.

This is the exact same problem I am having now.. I too noticed that the ear volume is low as well. I did restart the phone. It worked good for a day. Then same thing. I too am like you. Hopefully there is a software fix for it. I called at&t. They said That HTC handles the tech support for the HOX. Maybe you should call them too and complain. If they hear it from someone else, it might be good.

I did talk to HTC Tech Support and was told there's NO Issue with the volume on the device and was given a number for Repair which I haven't called yet.
And yes, it's last about a day then it gets lower.
it has to be a software issue, im experiancing the same thing. got a replacement today because of it, and when i was in calls it sounded like i was in a tunnel? no case on the phone.

My first one x was a ht24 model that came with 1.73(I think that was the version correct me if I'm wrong) and had the same issues after about a month. My replacement is a ht23 with 1.85... I haven't noticed the issue with this phone but will look into it now and see if this one has it.
Sent from my factory HTC ONE XL unrooted and loving it..... kinda not really... I made a promise I wouldn't root :-(
I've noticed a very similar issue with my One X. I keep my phone at full volume and every once and a while the volume from the back speaker gets a bit quieter. Nothing seems to fix it, except for rebooting the phone.
I really hate that when i have headphones in, or speakers, the phone still makes the sound for a notification.
I found this tasker script that SHOULD do it, but i can't get it to work.
Anybody smarter than me wanna help me get it to work?

Try putting the phone on vibrate lol
If you have a kernel that supports Voodoo Sound, what you can do is install the Voodoo Sound app and enable the "Don't interrupt music" setting. That setting puts your phone on silent whenever you have headphones plugged in. Super convenient

i dont care about the music. here is what i want:
i want to have headphones or a speaker in
i want my notification volume one
i want the notification to play through the connected speaker
i dont want the notification to play through the phone speaker
the tasker script is supposed to play a media file like it would a ringtone (recognizing a text and playing the media file through the headphones/speaker), however it does not work.

Nikcu13,
Ok, so it sounds like this might make for a neat libaudio/SGS4GParts hack for this kind of functionality.
File an enhancement bug here.
In the issue, be as detailed, if not more then you were in post #6
Thanks!

You're right. It is probably something super easy.
But, I am unemployed. I have a wife and daughter, and limited time to even look at my sgs4g.
When I do stuff, I get a bunch done in a little time frame. Probably about 5 hours a week.
The rest of the time, I'm trying to get a job, interviewing, dealing with rejection, taking my daughter to the playground, figuring out how I'm going to pay my bigger bills, etc...
You could always bone up and learn some C and go look at the wm8994 driver and libaudio in the device tree and fix it yourself. I know hampsterblade did it once, and we happily merged his change!
