Automatically Take Pictures during Face Unlock - Android General

Hi All,
I am searching for a cool applications meeting these requirements:
1) Take pictures everytime Face Unlock is performed or everytime there is an attempt to unlock the phone by any means.
2) Upload the photos to a cloud storage like Dropbox (i could use sync) or save them in a hidden folder in Mass Memory.
3) Option to take Burst image capture on failed attempt to unlock the phone.
I have searched this forum and have found threads where the same question was asked but no perfect answers were available and those threads were too outdated....
It would be a cool app if anybody could make it.....:fingers-crossed:

before i get be raided on my stupid decision i just need positive help i have very important civil lawsuit that pictures will be used for in evidence.
even if i have to pay i will do it i need help xda community save me
After reading your post, I tried installing a few programs that claimed to be able to recover deleted photos off of an iPhone (iphonephotorecovery.com, and Wondershare Photo Recovery). I ran the programs and my iPhone was not listed even though it is visible as a camera in My Computer (I'm running Windows 7 with the latest iTunes).
Another dilemma is that I could not find a way to assign a drive letter to a camera listed in My Computer. If you could assign a drive letter to it, you could use any free photo recovery software out there, like EaseUS Deleted File Recovery.
Until you find out for sure that there is no way to recover deleted photos directly from an iPhone I would not take any photos or any do anything else that might potentially overwrite your deleted photos. I wish you the best of luck.
You may get better feedback by posting on an iOS forum, as most of us here don't have iPhones.

[Q] How do I root without having to factor reset?? Don't want to lose photos.. HELP!!

So I've been looking for a solution for the past 2 months now it is SO frustrating. Anyway so...
I own a LG Nexus 5 (non rooted), and I've been using this photo app called VSCOcam solely as my phone camera for the last 2 years, and I've taken thousands and thousands of photos with it. The phone has been amazing for the last 2 years but it is time for an upgrade.
So I went to backup my phone and realized that VSCOcam had screwed me... The app has its own internal library so unless you "export" the photos, they are not accessible in /sdcard. Someone in XDA forums had the app and told me that the photos are stored inside "/data/data/com.vsco.cam/files/images" and unless I root I wont have access.
Now heres the cycle of stupidness which I think you all can guess. In order to root -> I need to unlock my bootloader, and to unlock my bootloader -> I need to factory reset!
I've tried just about everything to root my phone without factory resetting, so far none has succeeded.I contacted the devs for VSCOcam and they told me to highlight the photos individually and export... are you kidding me??
What should I do? Should I just bite the bullet and lose ALL MY PHOTOS?? The app is currently listed as 12gb in size thats so heartbreaking!!!
TL;DR - VSCOcam hid thousands of photos in "/data/data/com.vsco.cam/files/images" which is unreachable without root, and to root means to factory reset my phone wiping all the photos I'm trying to get in the first place...

I wonder if you can't use something like Helium to make the backup. If you're not rooted, it uses ADB to make a backup (I think). See where you get with that. If you can get them on your hard drive, they should be yours for the taking.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I've already tried that, when I connect it to my PC Helium tells me the app is not supported and contact the app devs.... It was one of 3 apps that wasn't supported.
I could only laugh at my misery. :good:

Have you tried running an ADB backup manually from the command line? http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/general/guide-phone-backup-unlock-root-t1420351
adb backup -all ??
What's the problem with exporting them then? Am I missing something?
Yes, I think you are. I had a look for VSCO and came across a post in January from mobscene asking exactly the same question, and I can see what he's getting at. This is what VSCO tech support say:
https://vsco.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/200435135-VSCO-Cam-How-do-I-save-my-images-
"You can save as many items as you want from your VSCO Cam library by simply tapping once on each image, and then selecting the share icon."
Since the images are stored in data/data, inaccessible via a file explorer on an unrooted phone, mobscene can't do a straight drag-and-drop.
And, as he says, before he can root the phone he'll have to unlock the bootloader, which will wipe the images. Catch 22, sort of defeats the point of the exercise.
But if this has been going on now for eight months, the manual export (tapping multiple images at a time and exporting - the VSCO site shows multiple select is possible) could have been done by now. An enormous effort, I get that, but if the photos are important enough then maybe worthwhile. Looks like the only option.

Privacy concern with a dubious app

Any help will be much appreciated.
I have to install an app which I don't trust, but which requires too many permissions, which obviously I am not keen on giving the app. For reasons beyond my control, I can't name the app (it's a work thing).
My idea is to create a new user on the phone, (OnePlus2) and install the app for that user only. Would this stop it from being able to access the data under my own user, and restrict it to only read the data available for the new user for which it is installed?
It requires permission to: (just incase this info helps)
Draw over other apps
Take pictures and videos
Find accounts on the device
Approximate location, precise location
Read SMS/MMS, Send & View SMS/MMS
Modify or delete contents of USB storage
Read contents of USB storage
Read phone status and Identity
Any other solution I should look at? Or will this work just fine?
Cheers!
No way I would install that. Not on a device I use. Unless I had full control over the source code for the apks. I could see some uses.
But to answer your question, I think that should work. I don't have much experience with the details of extra users on the device bit you can look it up on the Google developer site.
That should be enough.
For good measure, I Tried Doing this on my Moto G4 Plus. I created a new user and installed Drupe and Textra. And here is what happened.
1. The New User did not have access to my contacts, call records or SMS
2. The old user could not see these two apps.
since the gallery is tied to photos on the Moto, the users could not see each other's photos.
UPDATE: I just saw an app on another thread that may work for you. - https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/closed-beta-test-incoming-companion-app-t3366295

How to download pictures and videos from Samsung Cloud.

Hello All.
I have been using many Samsung phones and I have gathered almost 15gb of pictures and videos which are stored on my Samsung Cloud. Since I almost reached full capacity I would like to download them and store them on some other place, cloud.
I do not want to pay monthly to Samsung just to be able to store more.
I was looking in the internet for any working solution but without success. I have installed Samsung Gallery(windows app) and I can view my pictures but when I try to download them it fails. Download is starting but nothing is happening. I can not download data to my phone since all I can do is to select all and ... delete....
Does any one know the workaround solution?
I would like to use Samsung Cloud but want to free up some space and backup my current data outside of Samsung Cloud.
Thank you for any solution or tip.
Best Regards.
Go Settings then cloud & accounts then press Samsung cloud here you get all your stored data on Samsung cloud long press for selecting what you want to download then press download i hope this help you please hit like ?

data recovery - samsung notes - help :(

hey there, so i normally wouldn't ask in a forum for help, but my situation is desperate.
background information:
I wanted to transfer my samsung notes to my PC, which went wrong and the files on my PC are 0 byte sized.
unfortunately, i deleted the files on my samsung before checking if the transfer had been successful (aargh)
those notes (16) were extremely fckkng important (scientific nature, therefore important for society too), i tried to recover them from every drive they were on but without success.
the transfer was also made under special circumstances (bluetooth to live os, then live os to windows, then windows to usb, then usb to linux; the chain was unavoidable for reasons i cant tell here, but maybe you get why checking the files for completion wasn't that easy; also, i checked the files after the bluetooth transfer and all files seemed to be fine with all their regular sizes)
(i hate samsung for putting the notes in the root directory, i know it may makes sense for security reasons but i'm just grumpy at this point, haven't slept for a way too long time now.)
bootloader of the phone is locked.
(i hate myself for that, wanted to root the phone a couple of weeks ago but couldnt find the time)
here are the questions:
would it be possible to make SNote run a data recovery program to recover the notes for me through (= Samsung notes exploit, but limited to the s note root storage location) and how difficult would you rate this task
would it be possible to gain access to the root storage though an exploit and then recover the data?
if those ideas are dumb, whats the possibility recovering the data after rooting the phone (56gb storage left from 120gb; didn't use the phone since i discovered the files were corrupted)?
it would mean very much to me if this post was answered! ❤
i could cry if i think of the work wasted if i can't recover those files.
