Noob question, I want to know how to flash back to stock from a team EOS stingray nightly build of JB? Or even flash back to stock from the latest ICS stingray team eos build? Trying to get back to stock since HBO Go doesn't work on Xoom 4G. Thanks
Try Linux LordAIOTool, there's an option called Stock Install, if you don't want to use it, tell me and I teach you how to do it manually

Trying to get to stock ICS and not have to go back to the HC fastboot HLK75D file and do all the incremental updates. Also didn't know if I had to flash thfough CWM or RSD and/or take any extra steps before flashing since I was on a custom ROM.

I want to go back to GB as I'm not satisfied with the ICS ROMs I've tried (only had this phone a few weeks). Dev board is flooded with ICS, any GB suggestions?

I highly reccomend Oxygen, only problem I ever had with it was sending and recieving mms. Other than that I say it is lightening fast and stable.
Were you able to fix the mms issue?

Try .CIBERGR-MOD 's GB version. It's a fast rom. Although, I'm not sure if he has a NS4G version.

Peter Alfonso's GPA19 ROM is the most stable one that I tried. Look for Peter Alfonso's site and click the Downloads link for crespo. I would post a link here, but XDA's nonsense won't allow it.
Download the 12-07-11 one to get the latest GB version. There aren't a lot of customizations like CM, Oxygen, MIUI, etc., but it's stable as hell. The latest Oxygen (2.3.2) has a REALLY obnoxious, and largely ignored, backlight notification bug where you have to reboot to get the lights to go out... only way I've ever found to fix it is to install another kernel. However, Peter Alfonso's got one of those too... just go to his site and it should be on the second page of the "blog."
I know you said you didn't like ICS, and I didn't either at first, but Pete's ICS ROMs are also great and very stable. The latest is 01-30-12, and you can get it from the same crespo download page.
question.
hey man i got a question, could i use peter alfonso's rooted stock rom for gingerbread (right?) when downgrading, right? instead of re rooting it.

Loaded up the 01-30-12 ICS this morning since that would be the easiest transition. Using Apex and so far, so good. Thanks!

I'm currently running Euroskank CM7 kangs.
Wow, really. I don't have any ICS envy seeing how sweet those kangs are. They're smooth as butter and stable too! Checking my phone, my current uptime is 132 hours (5.5 days) since my last reboot, which was to flash the latest kang back then.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. Both of his ROMs are pre-rooted, so no, you won't have to re-/root anything. But since you're going from ICS to GB you'll have to wipe everything, so there's no real "downgrade" path.
From a rooting perspective, the only difference I've noticed, that's kind of annoying, is that his GB ROM contains busybox and his ICS ROM doesn't. It's not a deal-breaker since there are Market apps to add it in, but it's kind of annoying that the binary has to be re-linked after each update/flash.

Im asking that if i can reverted back to gingerbread version without loosing root, may i install his pre-rooted stock without loosing root. Thats all, but since you mentioned it, im relived to revert it back. but i couldnt find his link could you provide me one? Also is it regular to flash it back to gb or is there a special method to do it?
I can't post links yet because our fine friends at XDA say that I need to post more for the privilege. Pfft.
You should be able to type peter alfonso downloads crespo and get to the page. 12-07-11 is the latest GB version (GPA19).
There's no "special" method for flashing, just do what you would do when going from one incompatible ROM to another... wipe data/factory reset, format cache partition, format /system, wipe dalvik cache. There are probably a million different combinations that different people will give you for the proper install, but that's what I normally do.
Tryout CyberGR's CM7 MOD and you won't go back:

perfect, and uh before i do that it could be any rooted gb rom right? just curious, that's all.
Don't mean to hijack the thread but what if I wanted to put a custom GB ROM on top of stock GB rom. I'm curious if you can just flash without wiping? Or should I do titanium backup instead?

Whats the best guide to follow to Unlock/Root/Recovery for the MZ604? Noob at the Xoom and don't wanna mess anything up. With my Galaxy Nexus I just use the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit and that automates the processes. And I haven't come across anything like that for the Xoom.

Before rooting, I would strongly suggest you read up on this kind of stuff. Things can go haywire pretty fast, and it is best you know what to do when a sticky situation arises.
If you don't mind flashing a custom rom on your xoom, you can skip #5 in the tutorial posted above and directly put a rom like EOS or CM9 or AOKP. Those roms are pre-rooted and are constantly updated with the latest features, as well as new & custom features.
Team EOS MZ604 2.0.0 Stable: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484770
AOKP: http://aokp.co/index.php/news (Flash a milestone build for the most stability)
CM9: http://get.cm/?device=wingray (These are still nightlies, while stable enough, flash and know what you are doing.)
All of these replace the stock rom. Know what you are doing if you plan to flash one of these. Whichever you flash, read up on it first, and you will be rewarded.
You could download the zip containing the rom and the latest gapps and then flash those instead of the universal root zip.

I am running stock jelly bean rom with air kernel and I want to get back to stock kernel. How would I do that?
Just flash your rom again, no wiping required

Ok so I just flash the last OTA update I had which was the 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 update?
This one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736645
No, you flash the full ROM. Not just the OTA update.
Where is the full jelly bean 4.1.1 rom? Sorry I couldnt find it.
And are you positive this process doesnt wipe that?
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Make sure to grab the correct one. Flash with fastboot. Obviously your bootloader has to be unlocked, which I imagine is already the case.
Nothing should be lost as long as you don't wipe data.
Ah so this is what I have to do?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572307
And yes my bootloader is unlocked.
Btw which kernel do you suppose is the closest to stock kernel? The reason why I want to do this is because I wanted to see just how does the stock kernel compare with air kernel but it seems like it isnt as simple a thing as I thought it would be to go back to stock kernel.
as i know there is no stock kernel standalone instalation package. So the only way to get back to stock kernel is to flash the whole ROM again.
For my purposes showed as the best kernel thalamus kernel.
Thanks for all the info guys. I have one more question just for future information purposes. Do you get an OTA update if you are on custom kernel?

I just re-uploaded the ROM with stock kernel on my thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881858
That will reset your kernel to stock. Sorry I don't have a separate kernel zip to flash.
If I install my compete ROM again (its Cyanogenmod), do I have to install the Gapps again too?

I see so many threads about rooting while on jellybean. What do i need to do to root on ics? The plan is to root and then use a custom jb rom. Thanks for your help.
Any help with my n00b post would be great.
Look for the debugfs method in the Dev section. That works on ICS but not jb as loopholes are closed on jb.

You can't use a JB rom custom or stock while you have ICS bootloader and updating to JB may remove root ( mine didn't ) and will certainly remove a custom recovery ( CWM or Twrp ). You have to unlock to install custom rom or recovery so if you are sure you wish JB custom rom why not update to JB and start from there?
Unlock, custom recovery for JB ( Twrp is my choice ), custom rom flashed with Twrp. I have not flashed any custom roms for the TF300 that weren't already rooted.
Good Luck!:good:
Yep, I am probably going to just go ahead and upgrade. I thought when I read that there was an advantage to being on ICS (for custom ROM purposes) but it doesn't seem to be the case. So I will get fully updated and then go from there.
Thanks!

The possible advantages are NVFlash, cm9, cm10, etc. At this time no CM, AOSP, AOKP, Paranoid Android, and so on for the JB bootloader. Everything ( rom ) is based on the stock kernel. It is being worked on but not ready for release yet. The dreaded i/o issue on JB and probably others.
If I were in your shoes I'd stay on ICS for now and wait a while for things to sort out. On ICS I'd run CM10 or Hydro for ICS. Those are just my feelings.
Take your time and look around a bit more if you have any doubts.
If you are ready then by all means go for it!
:good:Good Luck!
Thanks for all your help. I did go ahead and make the jump to JB. Currently on CleanROM but have no idea which of the "big 3" I should run. I suppose I will have to try them all and see. Wish there was a good pro/con list of each ROM that I could reference.

The biggest con of running JB is that Adobe has removed support for flash from JB in anticipation of forcing everyone to go use HTML5. You also cannot use the NVFlash method of backing up some crucial files as a safety net (the developers claim that using NVFlash makes your device brickproof).
I am still waiting for the kinks in JB to be worked out before I switch. I'm on ICS bootloader still and I can run a JB custom ROM (Baked Blackbean) just fine, so I can have my cake and eat it too. I can try out the JB changes without making a full commitment.
Just my two cents.
I'm thinking about trying to flash this ROM. From my "Junior Member" status, I'm obviously inexperienced.
I've read through the dev. thread and the Q&A thread...I have just a couple questions.
Currently on GB 2.3.6 with AntonX kernel (thanks to Lumin30's terrific Heimdall guide).
If I mess up or just want to go back to GB, I know I can flash back to stock & then add the kernel. Will doing a nandroid restore get me to the same place?
Last question: I see that there are 12 releases...do I download the original .zip file and all 12 or just the original .zip file and the last release (+ the Google Apps)?
I've read as much as I can...I don't understand most of the technical terms but I know more than I did a couple months ago. Maybe one of these days I'll know enough to be able to contribute to this forum.
Thanks for any input.

this is a MTD roms
BML can restore via cwm when you want to go to stock in GB
as i said this rom is MTD and you cant do the restore in cwm or twrp WHEN YOU WANT GO BACK TO GB
you need to use heimdall 1click to go back to GB
download the latest release not all releases.. and also gapps
Correct me if i'm wrong
Once you go mtd (cm7, cm9 etc) you'll have to one click back to stock (bml, kj6 kg4 or kd1 etc).
Kind of a general rule concerning cwm backups. You can restore your nanoid using the same kernel that was used to make it. So, in your case, if you don't like cm7 & want to restore. You would need to flash back to stock, add your kernel of choice, & then restore your backup.

Thanks...much appreciated. I can do this....
Download the release before the last one. I think its 12. The latest release has more problems because of the new kernel. Its the latest one released in 2012 not 2013. Cm7, that one is probably one of the most stable roms, except stock n gb
