Google Play Store help (Huawei Honor) - General Questions and Answers

Need some help:
I bought my Huawei Honor a few months ago, and everything was working fine with the ICS pre-installed and many Google apps. Recently, I updated my firmware and lost half of my contacts and was not able to synchronise with my gmail. So i decided to do a factory reset. Lo and behold, all my google apps disappeared. So i updated the firmware to its latest, and have been trying to get back Google Play store, but failed.
I have tried the following but failed:
1. Downloading the latest PLAY STORE apk and installing. Installation works, but the app just crashes immediately when I open it.
2. Trying to update from sd card (in recovery mode) with ics gapps. P/S: my recovery mode does not have the option to 'install from zip' like other forums suggest. It only has 'update from sd card'.
This are my phone details:
Android version: 4.0.3
Kernel version: 3.0.8
Build number: U8860IV100R001CHNC00B923SP03
All I really want is to get back my Google Play Store. Anyone have any ideas?

You need to root your Honor first.
Then do as those steps:
1.Find Googleloginservice.apk ,google play store.apk and GoogleServiceframework.apk
2.Copy those 3 apps into System/app with Re explorer
3.restart your phone and you will find Google play, Login with you google account!

solution works for me but...
Google framework service crashes all the time

[Q] Tablet wont' connect to play store

I bought for my kids the a generic android tablet. I set one up and was able to child proof it by deleting the browser and gmail and google talk. It works beautifully. Then I went to work on my other tablet. I deleted the browser, without backing up, and now I can't get to martket. I get the server error message.
I have dutifully searched the boards before asking any questions. I have:
From boot mode cleared the cache, reset to factory setttings (which did not restore the browser), installed the Google apps for 4.0 gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip which did not install a browser but did install Google talk.
I have signed out and resigned in and restarted play store many times, I have deleted and reinstalled the apk.
I have tried to install google framework apk where it gives me a parse error.
I unistalled play store and installed market hoping for the update and reinstall of play store. I get server error
I have installer market enabler.
Google sync doesn't work either.
The device came rooted. I use es file explorer.
Android 4.0.4
Kernel 3.0.8+
Please. Please help!
Bump!

[Q] (Google Play Store) Error retrieving information from server [RPC:S-7 :AEC-7]

Greetings,
I had some issues uninstalling xposed on my HTC One M8 that was recently updated to lollipop so I reverted back to a stock lollipop rom directly from Telus. Every time I try and download an app from the Play Store I get the following message.
"nameofapp" could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-7 :AEC-7])
This is what I have tried so far:
- Clear cache on Google Play Services (Framework) and Google Play Store
- removed update from Google Play Store
- updated Play Store manually to newest APK
- rebooted in between these steps
- removed Google Account + cleared cache + all data for all Google Apps and services
Sometimes when I reboot it will let me update or download 1-3 apps, then it will just bring back that error. I'm at a loss as to what I should try as googling this error brings up the same solutions every single time. Other then this issue the phone itself appears to be functioning properly. My phone is unlocked and rooted but I do not have xposed or any other custom mods running. I'm also using the latest version of TWRP. I have also noticed that sometimes when I disconnect from wifi and attempt to download from 4G the download actually goes through. Not exactly a solution as I have limited data available to me. Any ideas?

Flash GApps via TWRP. If it doesn't help, bring your phone back to full stock, including flashing firmware + rom and make sure to format systen + data partition
before flashing the new rom.

Thanks for the help. I tried to flash the google apps but TWRP kept giving me errors that the package wasn't compatible with my phone. I located a nandroid of Telus lollipop stock and flashed that after I have formatted the system and data partitions as you have recommended. I dont believe I needed to do firmware as I have never had anything but stock firmware on the device. Everything appears to be functioning now as I can download and update from the play store once again.
Out of curiosity are you able to tell me why I encountered that issue? I cant seem to find exactly what that error even means. While i'm still very new to the android scene with flashing custom roms and device modification I have never once had that issue.
that is a "host" error, using a file manager, go to your /system/etc folder, open the "hosts" file, as a text file, and erase all.. except the local host:
Sorry bad english

Google Play services not working

Hi guys,
I searched the forum and I found a thread with "Google Play Services Stops Working" with no fix for this problem and unfortunately this issue started affecting me when I completely wiped the phone with OS (accident) on it and started from scratch.
I tried latest version of play store, not so late, different installation methods and the result is still same. After awhile the google account is deleted and play services are not working.
I forgot to mention when the OS was restored and updated I had to manually install Play services.
It says not supported by my device. Is there any way how to get it permanently fixed again ?
Thanks in advance,
E.
How did you install GAPPS (Google Apps with all the needed services?
I downloaded latest play store .apk and installed it from there. I even tried different versions, different sources ...
It's working for few hours and then it stops working ( I click on play store and it's just about to open, few ms quick white flash and nothing happens) and I have to reinstall it and redo my accounts.
You have flashed all the services and apps google play store need?
Try flashing the latest opengapps package.
Use the following options to generate:
Platform: ARM64
Android: 5.1
Version: you choose
maybe try install gapps from HiAPP (market from huawei)

No need. I had the same issue; at some point my stock Play Market just vanished, ran into a bunch of other issues, but solved it by installing a full gapps package generated on opengapps (I use the pico version).
I installed gapps successfully :highfive:
There was some error with MD5 but at the end it was fine.
Let's wait and hope it did what it was supposed to do.
Thank you guys
E.

Installing GAPPs suite on Honor 9 (Chinese Version) - NO ROOT NECESSARY

Hello alL,
I come to bring you good news. I have managed to install google play store and other Google Apps on the Chinese version of the Honor 9 (WITHOUT ROOT).
For anyone wondering, here are the steps.
1 - Download this file to your Honor 9.
2 - Decompress the zip file and install "Google Installer_2.0.apk". Don't touch the other files.
3 - Run this app (the newly installed one with the chinese name) and confirm using the Green button near the bottom.
4 - Confirm all prompts for authorisation, ensuring you select "Trust app" to give it full permissions. This will install the core "Google Play Apps Suite" as a user app, meaning that you will be able to uninstall "Play store" by simply dragging it to the top. See 1st screenshot.
5 - Check if Google Play Store has been installed and is working. If android complains about "Missing GMSs", reboot and try again. If still you have problems, try downloading "GMSInstaller apk" from an internet mirror of your choice.
See attached screenshots for proof that it works!
Great guide! Thanks for sharing. This is a safer way than rebrand, but rebrand will bring you a full Europe/US EMUI. You will not see any left-over Chinese characters.
The only downside is you'll be left with some Chinese letters here and there :/
But, it's easier than rebranding
Is there a lot of Chinese left so that it becomes difficult to use the phone? Or more like a minor nuisance? I'm currently in China and positively drooling at the local retail price but I've no access to a computer for rebranding.
Hi, I tried this procedure, I managed to install all the GApps but when I try to login or add google account the phone freezes for a moment and nothing happens. Same behavior on YT, while on Gmail and Play Store it still says "GMS Installer required". I guess that with a chinese phone you need to flash it anyway or it can't reach google servers. Am I right?

Hi,
I previously installed google services successfully using GMSinstaller when I first got my Honor 9 in August.
Now it is upgraded to B201 and because it always crashes when it comes to google play, I ran GMSinstaller again which asked me to uninstall every google related apps.
I did so but now it is impossible to install google again
GMS installer will only propose me to uninstall previously installed google apps, then reboot.
I tried several "Google Installer" including this one, none of them are working.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks
It seems like this B201 update patches the GMS installer

I tried removing all the google stuff (framework, account manager, services, sync) then manually install each of them : still doesn't work.
Does anyone with B201 firmware succeed to install Google ?
Is it possible to downgrade without root/unlock ?
One thing I have not tried yet is reset to factory, If I do so I am wondering if a backup from HiSuite will restore everything...

After Factory reset, GMSinstaller worked again !
But my fear was confirmed : after restoring from HiSuite Backup, I lost some datas in my apps and also all my notes in the notes app
In the end got Google back, that's the most important !!

Well, it's better than nothing

google play services has stopped working, and the phone too

Hello
I have a Samsung A8 (2018)
It started to appear the message "google play services has stopped working"
I searched online and it says to go and delete cache and data, uninstall updates, but it's impossible.
The phone continue crashing every few seconds and it go back in the main screen.
In Safe mode it's the same thing.
I deleted the cache from bootloader but nothing change.
What can I do to save data and not just reset phone from bootloader?
Thank you
Just an Idea : Connect the Phone to PC -> Put another Version of the "Google Play Services.apk" on your Phone and try to rush there from Filemanager on your A8 and try to install over the faulty Version (maybe this could work)
I tried, but I can't.
After a lot of tries I could go in filemager but installation failed.
I tried also from safe mode
Does the Installation fails because of different signature ? maybe try with (For Example) APK Mirror installer ?
I don't know. It just take a lot of time and then says "app not installed".
I will try with APK Mirror installer, if I will be able to install it...
EDIT
I was able to install "APK Mirror installer". but same. I can't install "Google Play Services" because it says the version installed is newer.
Actually is the same version (the last one, downloaded from another phone with apk extractor)
