Hi guys, some help if you don't mind. Under 'about tablet' in settings there was (previously) on my Xoom an option to do a manual system update periodically. However this is now missing. Any idea why? and how to get this option back, as I'm awaiting the Jelly Bean update, so any thoughts/ideas on this would be helpful. Thanks.

Go into Settings, then Apps, then the All tab. Scroll down to the bottom of the list, and see if "Google Services Framework" is disabled. If so, select it and press the "Enable" button.

I'm running mohan's Embryo 6.1 Jelly Bean and I wasn't able to figure out how to clear notifications. There used to be a little "clear" button you could press. All I can figure out is that I can swipe them away.
I must be missing something. How do you guys clear notifications? Thanks!

That's what I was gonna say, but I said to myself, no, no way he missed that x lol
Also I would like to add...
I have noticed on jellybean if you install multiple programs from Google play or something the clear all button on the top right does not appear. I have also noticed apps that give notifications and work on jellybean (but are not technically supported) do not show the clear all button. If its not appearing in the top right corner, you must manually swipe them away. I don't know why Google would have you wipe away every dang app you downloaded when you download multiple apps. This has been my experience on jelly bean. Correct me if I am wrong.

You're wrong. Lol seriously though I've never encounted that issue when I update multiple apps. As for the first note, I have observed this behaviour as well. Apps written for ICS and above dont have this issue, but the majority of the code between GB and JB is vastly different

Hmm...
Well I am running nibbles custom rom so maybe it''s something with the rom then...
That's been my experience.
Don't know if you still need help with this but I also found the "Clear All" missing from my notification tray. Turns out it's been changed to a symbol which looks like stairs in the top right corner of the notification tray when it's expanded.
Not sure exactly where to post this? In the Google Play store settings I have the auto update disabled but whenever I reboot if there is a update for a app it will automatically download and install. How do I stop this?

If you unchecked the Auto update setting how could the apps update automatically. Ok check it like this: tap the 3 dots in the right top corner and go to settings. Check if you have ticked "Auto update apps" or "Update over WfiFi only" options.
If this doesn't work then tell me. I'll suggest you something else.
There's a specific toggle for individual apps to allow them to auto-update, too. Might check that as well. If that doesn't work, try clearing the Play Store's data (wiping all preferences), open up the Play Store, and then wait a while (up to a few days, depending on what number of apps you have installed and how active their developers are ) and see what happens.

The only options I have checked are the notification of apps and games I have downloaded and the Google Admob. As for the individual apps I never check the automatic update box. I will try the other suggestions made by others here. Thanks everyone
I disabled my FB because of a "Facebook build 140579" app that suddenly started running. I was able to quit that app but when I go into the app store to enable FB, it just crashes. Anyone know how to get FB working again? It's not showing up as an app on my phone either.

Hit your capacitive Menu Button, Select Manage Apps, scroll over to All, scroll to the bottom. Your disabled apps should be down there. Select the app, hit Enable and you should be good to go.

No problem man! We were all beginners once.
I was having an issue when I would try to open my contacts, it would always force close. I decided to try to disable and re-enable the contacts application to see if that would fix it. I however removed my contacts shortcut and I cannot get it back. Does anyone have any ideas. This was before the recent update to 4.2.1 and the update did not fix it.
Thanks for your help.

You mean you disabled it? Go to settings, apls and all. Scroll all the way down to the bottom and re-enable it.

Correct, I disabled it. But it doesn't come back after re-enabling it. The shortcut is still missing.
The shortcut itself won't come back on its own, you need to drag it back to the homescreen from the apps drawer.
It doesn't show in the app drawer as well.
Have you rebooted?
Yes I have rebooted. It happened before the latest OS update as well so it has been through an update and the shortcut still hasn't come back.
I wasn't happy with Nougat and decided to go back to Marshmallow, now I am on MM and everytime I turn on wifi the Nougat update starts downloading. Restarting phone didn't help.
There is no option either to stop it.
Isn't there an option in Developer settings?

No, not there either. Is there any way without rooting the device?
Anyone figure this out?! Can't get notification to go away. Ugh. Please help!

The only way I have been able to disable the update is to download the "BK Disabler App" along with "BK Plugin". It will allow you to disable the update as well as take away the notification at the top. The only thing that will show is there will be a Software update dialog box at the top of your settings menu when you go into settings. Otherwise you will never be notified of it again and wont have to worry about it downloading or updating when you set your phone down.
You will need to go to the top right corner of the app and search for "update" and check these 3 items:
com.sec.android.soagent
com.wssyncmldm
com.samsung.android.firmware.tsp
