Wi-fi, Memory and Camera Problems after rooting and Installing ICS - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys,
I rooted my Galaxy S II recently and flashed the ROM with ICS - Resurrection_Remix_ics_V2.6.1_AOKP-M6_GT-9100 . After that I am facing problems in Wi-fi . It doesn't turn on and shows me a continuous message that "Turning Wi-fi On" ... nothing happens afterwards.
Apart of that I can't see full internal memory which i used to see as 16 GB when i had Gingerbread . It shows me 2 GB now. I also tried "wipe dalvik cache" but nothing happened . and third thing which I noticed that when I switch on my Camera it asks me for SD card . it doesn’t work for internal memory as it used to work previously.
Please help or suggest if I can overcome these problems.
thnx

Don't post this sort of question in here mate.
Post it in the Q&A forum for your device - that way you are much more likely to get a suitable response from other people who use the same device as you.

[Q] Camera not running at all - Turn off usb storage to use camera

Guys
I am very dissapointed with the galaxy s that I recently bought from singapore. It doesnt have international warranty, which is kind of awkward. Next, I am not able to
1. use the camera (always getting msg - Turn off USB storage to use camera)
2. not able to use Internal 16 gb memory as it says (Internal SD card - total space: unavailable, avialable space: unavailable) - I somehow managed it work once though by removing the battery and setting to factory settings. Then the camera also started to work. However, when I restart the phone it went back to "unavailable - internal and external memory" again. camera is complaining to turn off usb storage to use it.
3. not able to make use of external memory as mount sd card and format sd card are grayed out and total space/available spaces are showing as unavailable)
I am currently on Factory rom with following specifications.
Baseband Version I9000DXJPB,
Firware Version - 2.2;
Kernel version - 2.6.32.9 root-at-SE-S604 #1;
Build Number : FROYO.DXJPE
I have been searching on net for solutions but not been successfull yet. Can anyone please help as I am getting very emotional about the money I spent on it. I will be very thankful to the brainy people out there who can resolve my Galaxy S issues. I dont want to loose such a wonderful mobile because of the above petty issues. Samsung helpdesk at NZ are not responding for some reason and same as the singapore samsung helpdesk.
Thanks in advance

Hi Guys!
I was just googling in order to find the ways to solve this problem.
Every time I push on camera icon the phone asks me to turn off USB before i want
to use the camera.I have done this 100 times but this doesn't solve my problem.
The second problem is that the phone does not find the sd card!
I am sure that this has nothing to do with sd card, coz the sd card is ok (I have changed 3 different cards already)
Model number I9000
Firmware version 2.3.4
Baseband version I9000XXJVQ
DarkyROM v10.2
The phone is having those problems since several months. It belongs to my dad who could not solve the problem and bought an Iphone 4
Nevertheless I am trying to fix this and flashed Darkyrom 10.2 today.(the phone has had Darky'srom 5.2,which I flashed in October 2010)
Model number I9000
Firmware version 2.3.4
Baseband version I9000XXJVQ
DarkyROM v10.2
PLEASE HELP
P.S.sorry for mistakes I have probably done.English is not the language I am fluent in.
Anyone knows how to fix this? Please HELP
Noticed today that both cameras work great while videocalling. But the problem remains

[Q] Insufficient storage available-Installation errors & other aggravations?

Hey all, I've been getting "Insufficient storage available - Installation errors" eventhough I have a 32GB sdcard (but only 30MB of internal storage & yes I've moved all existing installed possible apps to sdcard, cleared caches & unmounted-remounted sdcard), what's the best way to resolve this?
I'm still running 2.2 unrooted but considering rooting soon & maybe cm7 or other rom but I'm not sure I want to risk issues when I need it working..
Also notice it is slow to respond upon reboot, maybe due to apps trying to update but encountering the insufficient storage available installation error..
-Appreciate helpful replies
yeah it happened with me too then i tried some customROM on my phone,
btw what phone do you have?

Thanks for clueing me into the fact that I was no longer in the EVO 4G forum, it must have taken me out there after logging in. I'll root & customROM at some point or if necessary but was curious if there is a fix without that. Maybe someone can still help here but I've since started this Q in the EVO 4G Q&A:

[Q] Galaxy SL(i9003) out of space problem whereas 1.8gb left.

Friends,
I'm facing an unusual problem regarding my Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 android phone. I updated it from Froyo 2.2.1 to Gingerbread 2.3.6 DDKP1 two months ago & it was working perfectly.
Now, the problem is that whenever I install any kind of app, it says "Out Of Space" & two options named "Manage Applications" n "Cancel" appear on screen whereas the space is 1.8 GB left & used space is only 65 MB, I've only installed 3 apps in it!!!!!!
The whole 4 GB phone memory is divided into 3 sections. One is "Internal SD card(1.5 GB)(now in android 2.3.6, it is called USB Storage, i don't know why)", second is "Internal Storage(1.8GB, where the apps are installed & in which I'm facing problem)" and the 3rd is memory for "Contacts & Messaging (around 72-74 MB).
I also did a factory reset where you wipe all the phone data from Recovery menu(Volume up button+Home button+Power button), and also wiped cache. After factory reset, I installed 3 apps & got "Out of space" on 4th one.
Whereas after updating to 2.3.6, I installed numerous apps(around 80-90) and no problem came up till 2 months, but I don't know what is happening now..... Also, I'm not on any kind of custom ROM or recovery.
Please, help me guys, pleaseee......
If you've tried factory reset and it hasn't worked then take it to a service center..
Make sure you find out which is the current Indian gb version (the latest Indian firmware is ddkp3, but these service centers don't usually have updated info) and flash that, before u take it to the service Centre..

Try this on this site, your problem will surely be solved.
http://www.theinfomania.com/2012/04/28/how-to-upgrade-your-samsung-galaxy-sl-i9003-with-stock-roms-ddkp3-or-xxkpu/
follow all the steps and update to DDKP3, its way better than DDKP1/2 - better battery life. If your problem doesn't get solved, then it's the perfect time to pay a visit to the service center.
EDIT: Internal SD/USB storage - all the same. It's an update when you come to Gingerbread
Don't forget to press thanks if I help.

[Q] Unable to locate internal sdcard error

Hello All,
I wanted to post this to the Android Development section but since I have fewer than 10 posts I am forbidden from doing so.
Intermittently I will notice some apps do not load images or act as they normally should, and upon opening Solid Explorer to do some investigation I receive an error message (Cannnot browse to "/mnt/sdcard". An unknown error occured.). I find I am unable to access the internal sdcard through Solid Explorer, and when navigating using Root Explorer it only displays an empty folder.
This seems to happen at least once a day, and restarting my phone usually fixes it at least for a few hours. Sometimes ending all applications through task manager & clearing RAM memory through RAM manager will allow me to normally browse my internal sdcard using Solid Explorer for about a minute or so, and then become unaccessable again. Phone reboots seem to be the only fix, albeit a temporary one that only lasts a few hours.
I am unable to save screenshots when this occurs, unable to save pictures, some apps do not function properly -- all which makes sense if the phone is really unable to access the internal sdcard. I have performed numerous wipes (full wipe, cache, dalvik) & reinstalled newer nightly SynergyROMs but I have been unable to fix the issue. Searching these forums has not brought me any relevant information which pertains to the same issue I am having.
I appreciate any help or insight you guys can provide, thanks for taking a look.
Quick Background:
32GB Samsung Galaxy S3 on Verizon network
No external microsd card
Unlocked & Rooted
Running SynergyROM Nightly (r73)
CWM-based Recovery v6.0.1.0
Why would you think to post this in Android Development? This is a question, and thus belongs in Q/A (where it is posted). Android Development is for people who actually developed something, like a ROM, Kernel, etc.
I don't know what kind of advice to give you though, besides try formatting in advanced options of CWM, a reprovision (*2767*3855# ) on stock (back up everything first, to somewhere other than internal SD as it will be wiped) or maybe a 32GB PIT, with a PIT being the least likely solution.
I second this question!!

I logged in today because I am having the exact same problem. Same ROM as well, Synergy r73. I've tried formatting the SDCard, tried a complete reformat of the phone. But nothing seems to help.
Also, to clarify, it isn't restricted to the external SD card (which mounts to /mnt/etxSDcard folder). It's the entire /mnt directory that hangs. I'm able to go into options and mount and unmount the external card fine. But as soon as I try and access /mnt using any app (andExplorer, Wifi File Explorer, even a simple 'ls' in terminal) the phone hangs, stops responding to button presses, and eventually reboots itself.
Also, I've found my timing matches Kenshingtx's as well. If I reboot the phone, I can access external storage, and the entire /mnt folder for that matter, just fine, and it stays this way for about an hour or so.
Any further ideas are greatly appreciated.
btw, I think he mentioned posting the Android dev because there is a thread specifically dedicated to this ROM with numerous questions and answers in it. (Albeit hard to follow since it's over 800 pages) I already searched in there and found no mention of this issue.
The SD card problem sounds like something that used to happen with the old modems.
Go to about phone and check your baseband. If it doesn't end in G7 or HD then you have an older radio that had this issue.
Here's a link to where you can get what you need that explains everything better then I could.

My phone has the G7 modem in it.
Thanks for everyone's input so far. My baseband ends in F2 so I'll try updating my modem and see what that does (even though nerfage seems to be having the same problem with the G7 modem). And you're right, I wanted to post in the synergyROM development thread thinking the problem might've been specific to that ROM.
I'll also look into reprovisioning on stock rom per Zalithian's suggestion to wipe the internal sd card, and see if that helps.
@nerfage - I dunno what the problem is then, could be ROM specific. If you figure out what's wrong post how you fixed it here. You may also want to try flashing the HD rom. Might fix it, might not.
@Kenshingtx - Not sure if the wipe would help so make sure that's an absolutely final thing, googling around is always useful. Hopefully the flash thing does the trick though.

Flashed the latest modem ending in HD, and tested my phone over the weekend. Still having the same issue where the internalsd becomes unavailable. Wondering if the hardware in our devices are faulty..?

My phone appears to be fixed. I backed up all the files on my mnt/sdcard, performed full/cache/dalvik wipes, formatted internal memory through recovery, flashed the rom again (decided to try Beans ROM this past week) and I haven't had the same issue come back. It looks like the cause of the problem was something on my internalsd, try formatting it (after backing up any files you need) to see if it'll fix the problem for you too. Good luck.
Note: the fix does not appear to be related to the ROM, i was having the same issue on the Beans ROM as well until I formatted the internal memory

Nothing is working in my phone!

Hello, I am newbie i needed help, i am having android v.2.3.4 and there are many problems which i am facing i searched the forum but i didnt found any post which would help me to solve my problem so i thought to post it
first of all my memory card is not getting detected by phone and it is also not starting without it and when i try to start camera it says "turn of usb storage before using camera " but no usb storage is connected according to my phone and when i remove the memory card and put other memory card then also it is not starting
please help ,
Thanks in advance
Anyone please reply..
You can try (if usb connection is working) to connect the phone to samsung keys and update your 2.3.4 to the latest 2.3.6.
Otherwise you can follow the procedure to flash kpe (2.3.4) or ddlf2 (2.3.6) with Odin v. 1.35, but you will lost all of your internal sd data.
Thank you i'll try
