I mean now since the sd card slot is working can someone tell me if anyone has been working on a rom?
Not gonna happen until Google releases the HC source code. There are lots of other threads so if you search you might find more details!
The problem is not so much the working sd card (this will help for Clockwork Recovery), but for the rom the HC source is required and that hasn't been released yet.
Once Clock Work is working, will we be able to install Froyo ROMs?
Umm, I guess you could create a Froyo ROM but the question is why would you want to?

CWM is now working on both models. You can find it in the development section.

Cool now all we have to do is wait for the hc release for some roms.

I can't imagine wanted to downgrade to Froyo from honeycomb. Everytime I start to get disappointed there is no custom ROM I can't think of why I would want one yet. The Xoom is fast, responsive, and other than the SD card, works great. Built-in host mode support would also be nice.

That is what I mean by wait on the source code of honey comb to be released then they can make roms based off it.

What are you looking for in a ROM? I've only had an android phone for a few days (thunderbolt) but most of the ROMs I see don't really apply to the XOOM. The features seem to be things like:
-debloating
-removing or updating UI layers like sense
-porting stuff from other phones
-custom kernels (already avail. on xoom)
There are certainly some things that can be done without HC source
A custom ROM would be nice that included all the following without having to jump through a bunch of hoops:
Rooted
SD Card Support
USB Host Mode

Something similar to Bugless Beast or Cyanogen. The things you mention are usually part of or included in ROM's.

I do believe one-click root does most of if not all of what you mentioned.

Hi everyone,
I'm sorry if this has been asked already but I couldn't find a similar thread on search.
I'm using franco's ICS kernel and the USB debugging in ON.
ADB recognize my device and I can 'Run As Android Application' but I get no Logcat at the DDMS tab.
All it shows is:
Code:
?:??: W/?(?): Unable to open log device '/dev/log/main': No such file or directory
Kernel developer approved that logcat is disabled on his kernel and currently has no plans of changing this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20005555&postcount=455
Also, enabling in insmod shows only partial logcat
http://forum.xda-developers.com/report.php?p=20037182
Anyone has a solution?
Thanks!
Updated OP with new info.
Just a question... This is hybrid ICS / GB kernel that no one will care about any day now when the OTA drops and there is a proper ICS kernel. Why is a logcat so important for this kernel? Just wondering?

Can't see how the fact that this is a hybrid kernel has anything to do with my question.
Logcat isn't important for this kernel, it's important to me because i use my phone to develop apps.
I want to use an ICS ROM but most of them use franco's kernel, which has logcat disabled by default, hence this thread.

Why would you develop apps based on an ICS ROM that has at most a 2-3 week shelf life and is flawed at best. If you just must why not use another kernel?
I am just asking because as soon as the OTA drops all of these ROMs and kernels will be obsolete
Where is my G Nexus?
Edit: Nevermind, please delete this post

I'm adding support for HC/ICS so i have to use an ICS ROM.
Regardless, using an ICS for development doesn't mean i develop only for ICS.
I couldn't find any other kernel for ICS, if you know of one, that would be excellent, no special love for franco's one (even though it's a great one).
Thanks

Leaving NexusBeam is hard, such a great ROM, but will try recent KANGS.

Not exactly the solution for my question but stable and fast alternative - I switched to CM9 Alpha 12 with Matrix kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361477).

hi ive been reading up on topic but cabt find an answer since im pretty new to this sort of thing i have rooted my sensation but is still s-on wondering if any 1 could explain how to get sixaxis app to work on my phone. I've read sumwere thy you need cynagoen mod to b able to get it to work but don't no wich Rom to download any 1 could explain or know of a guide
Thanks in advance to any 1 willing to help
sounds like you're on the right track.
I don't know too much on the topic but I recall sense builds lacking support. An AOSP build should work fine. Try a cm9 nightly or rc2. Of course, you'll have to live with whatever current shortcomings there are with those roms.
I think it doesn't support the sensation so it wont work at all but not sure tho..
Sent From My Sexy Sensation Running Aokp.
sense bluetooth stack is gimped.
Aosp builds should work. There's an app on the market called sixaxis compatibility checker or sth like that. Try any cyanogen roms etc and run this app to see if the Rom u r using supports it.
Edit: sense roms won't work!

Have a read here first :
http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/sixaxiscontroller/about.html
I'm picking up an official PS3 controller in the next few days so I'll let you know if & how it works.
I am running a custom rom though - AOKP Milestone 6 - as since it is Cyanogenmod based it should work better with bluetooth, but I'll try it with a standard Sense rom too to see if it works for kicks.
Your best bet might be to buy a Phonejoy as it works with the stock Sensation. If you're in any doubts email them & ask :

Hi,
I am using EOS3 rom (4.1.1) on my TF101 now.
Looking for a newer rom (preferably 4.1.2) with 3G usb modem support.
Can I get some suggestions ?
Also, I'd like to test 3G modem support on the current rom if possible before changing rom. How can I test that ?
I'd appreciate any suggestions.
try ppp widget from play store
I am not looking for a widget, but a rom.

no rom has the support
really ?
I've heard that at least 4.0 roms have it, and with a correct kernel, 4.1 roms may have it.
is that wrong ?
Part of the issue is that the TF101G never made it beyond 4.0, so native support may never get there until the TF101G gets 4.1.X.
But, I guess I don't understand the issue with using pppwidget to get 3G functionality with a ROM vs having it baked into the ROM.
I have no problem with using pppwidget. It's ok; I already tried it on my current rom.
The thing is, I am also looking for a new rom. So just suggest me a new rom and I'll use it with pppwidget.
Also, I believe, there should be ROMs that support 3G because on several Android tablets (like Ainol), I see the 3G connectivity settings to use with a 3G modem.
So it shouldn't be hard to integrate if it's not already included in CM10 ?

the last rom to have support was megatron ICS. None since then. no combination of kernel or whatever can make it work past ics unless the devs specifically work on it.
thank you. that's clear now.

For example sending and receiving SMS is not working with pppwidget. It is with 3g in Rom (like Megatron).
Also 3g watchdog not reconizing 3G traffic with pppwidget as 3g.
This thread is going to be WIP thread for the porting of CM10 to the Pantech Vega N6 A860 codename e51.
Currently kernels are extracted and device tree wip while I collect the files to be input
https://github.com/VincentEmmanuel/android_kernel_pantech_e51k.git
I welcome anyone who is interested to help out in any way because I am really new in this porting stuff.
WIll update as and when more work is done.
Things working on now
1. Trying to find a suitable msm8960 common files repo (Not sure whether needed this at all but conducting R&D now)
2. Compiling a list of proprietary files needed for the build
God bless.
Vincent
ClockworkMod
ClockworkMod for A860 K/L/S
Flash using fastboot. Instructions are all over XDA so please search.
Thanks
thanks so much for your work...
another than CM10.1 , I also want to see customized kernel which can further enhance A860 , like power tweaks, disable logging, init.d or even add FauxAudio mod
Finally something about te Vega No6
I have the A860K. I installed a customized ROM from here http://mizal.net:82/pantech/NO.6/
Works fine, but it is not very customized. Still would like to get rid of Korean characters.Another kernel. deodexed. Less bloatware, etc.
Any other customizations?
Cheers!

I would not mind helping, but I am even newer than yourself
I am not a programmer, but I know very good shell scripting, PHP, and not so good C and some other useless languages.
I have pro skills in Linux as well (I work with it)
Let me know if I could be of any help.
Cheers and good luck!

I think this is the stock kernel. I think we need to grab a working kernel from Xperia Z or Oppo Find 5 since we are on the same architecture.

I remembered coming across a CWM mod that can allow you to choose which to backup. You can try ROM Toolbox.

As long as it boots, and it is a 3.4.0 kernel, i think it will work with cm10
anyway i am checking out cyanogenmod, but i dont find the a860 cwm recovery_ui.cpp source, only binary... i guess i need time to find the button mapping?
You could get answers from SDA.

There is a working CWM around in the 91dongji forum - works fine on my A860S with 1.30 software; now updating to 1.36 and see if the recovery sticks.
I'll post detailed instructions here once it is confirmed to work
i hope we can get some update on your efforts. though the crowd for this specific device is fewer than a handful for now, a lot of users are just waiting anxiously for any development....
Is there hope for this device to receive custom ROM?

I tried flashing the roms from the Vegaviet but i had a problem getting my network to connect. after the restore was complete there was no apn settings for the network. I tried reading but the translations from the website but it dont make sense and no one noticed issue because they are not located in korea.

so why not set up your APN? that should be easy.
Also, using the ROM from vegaviet, i noticed the following observation :
-there was a considerable build-up of lag after three to four days of use, especially when doing a lot of web browsing
-the browser is unable to open some websites/webpages due to Ad-Block restriction
-the forced DNS settings most times slow-down my internet connection
-the keyboard still retains Korean functionality, with Korean characters sometimes getting in the way when typing
-kernel logging was enabled
much of the above were solved using the uninstall zip of crossbreeder - i just noticed our Vietnamese friends are fond of using cross-breeder on all their ROM mods.
the keyboard i uninstalled and deleted the IME file in system and just replaced it using Optimus G Pro's keyboard IME installer.
everything should be all good. don't ask me where i got those zips - a simple search should do wonders for you.
The rom doesn't allow for setting up your own APN. Those features are not available in JB. Thanks for the tips but I just went back to stock since I wasn't able to get the network going.
