So I use Pandora a lot during work. I would like to have a lockscreen widget that would allow me to forward/pause so that I don't have to unlock the phone etc.
I saw an app called Widget Locker that seems to be able to add widgets. Are there any other mods or apps??
I was also thinking about rooting and wasn't sure if any Rom's would give me that functionality.
Thanks in advance!!
I'd like the same, but for spotify.

There are a number of lockscreen apps, Widget Locker is the one I used. Just about any of them support widgets.
I've just disabled though because I don't want to install yet another app for email/SMS counts and WL requires one. The problem I find with Android is that the more you try to replace the manufacturer's UI with better stuff, the buggier it gets. I set up Tasker routines to renable Widget Locker when getting out of my car (because you don't want your lockscreen coming on when you turn off the screen in a car dock), and ever since, Google Music doesn't instantly stop playing when I pull the headphone plug. Too much going on, I figure, so I just disabled Widget Locker and so far so good.
A ROM might, depends on the ROM.
The price of all our freedom is...lack of polish and bugginess.
I use Widget Locker with another widget called Media Buttons. Media Buttons will allow you to control any/most music players. So what you got to do is, with your phone unlocked, launch Pandora and once the music starts playing lock the phone. The MB widget on your lock screen will now control Pandora. Follow the same process for other players on your phone.

I would love it if somebody was able to come up with a modified version of the HTC lock screen which provides the same music control functionality already present, plus the same or similar capabilities while streaming Pandora radio (artwork display would be great if possible).
I've quite enjoyed this feature upon installing the latest Uncommon Sense ROM (though still no artwork), but I am not a fan of the stock style lock screen. I've also seen the rotary lock screen with music controls for sense, but a) I'm not sure if that controls Pandora or not, and b) I'm not really a fan of that style either. I prefer my current Incredible rEVOlution theme applied over the HTC lock screen and it would be awesome if I could control Pandora with that as well!
Try Widgetlocker with the Htc sense option, and put the pandora widget on the lockscreen, done!
I tried widget locker before and ended up getting a refund for it. I can't remember why, but I imagine it was probably because either A) my revolution theme didn't carry over since it's not technically an HTC lock screen or B) I didn't like having an app always running just for an alternate lock screen, or maybe it was both.
Whatever the reason, I'm afraid to buy it again because I have the feeling I still won't be satisfied with it. I would love this capability in a nice light, integrated package as opposed to the clunky widget locker workaround method.

After playing with the Sensation and Sense for a couple days now? The ability to run weather on my lockscreen has literally just blown me away. I don't really care about the prettiest app to do it but in your experience? What's the most reliable lockscreen weather app?
Widgetlocker + your favorite Weather widget
I use WidgetLocker and add Fancy Widgets and/or Beautiful Widgets. Love the options available between those.
Thanks for the suggestions. I've been playing with both for the last couple days. Anything else that puts the weather on the lockscreen?
I like GOTO lockscreen. It's visually impressive (though weather is certainly not the focus of it's visuals and is only a small part) and has practical uses like quickly jumping to phone, SMS, gmail, being able to set phone silent or vibrate, and music lockscreen controls (though this only works with stock music players), weather, battery, phone owner's name on lockscreen.

Still not satisfied with all of these choices. Anything else out there?
I use go laucher and go weather, but widget weather of HTC is the one!
is there a way to turn off the animation that comes on after the unlock of a phone?

Those look great, thanks!
Hi, I am looking for a way to automatically freeze/defrost/launch an application but from the app drawer.
Titanium backup has a widget that performs exactly this way except that being a widget, it cannot be run from the app drawer.
I do not use items on the homescreen (aside from the dock), nor do I wish to. Currently using Apex lanucher.
So, the main questions are:
Is there a way to use widgets in the app drawer?
Is there a way to perform the function of Titanium Backup freeze/defrost/launch without a widget, yet more automated.
Is there a way to 'intercept' between the app icon and the launching process to auto freeze/defrost the app?
Have been searching for an answer to this for a long time. Ideally if this could be done with full automation, ie when you install a new app it automatically gets a freeze/defrost icon/link/widget/etc without having to set it up.
Any help, info, thoughts, would help immensely.
A bit of a bump as I'd be interested in this too.
There is likely a custom launcher that allows widgets in folders or the app drawer, no?
I have a sort of solution for you that sort of works (hear me out)
I guess you don'tl like the clutter that comes with homescreen widgets (me too)
Heres what i did: use nova launcher, and have multiple docks (swipe to change). You CAN place widgets (1x1 certainly) in the dock, and then just hide it away by swiping to a differnt dock.
I must admit it doesnt work amazingly well when you press it, and takes some time to work sometimes, but its kind of a work around.
I use this solution currently for my Wifi High Performance Widget (1x1), which doesnt need to be touched so its in the dock
Hope this helps
Is there any sort of App on the playstore or some sort of method (without having to install a new launcher) that will allow you to make a normal bare widget open an app if you touch it? There are some pretty cool clock widgets I got with the Hyperdrive rom but they don't actually open the clock, alarm, etc and I really wish they would. Can I make this happen somehow?
Hello, I am currently customising my nexus 7 car install. I have been using Digital car for a while and found it useful but clunky. All of the other car ones either look horrible or don't work very well in a car. So I thought I would just make my own custom homescreen, With the customisation available to android I assumed this would be easy. I would have satnav open on the left screen, Google play music open on the right screen and in the middle would be my selection of widgets and app shortcuts so that I could simply swipe between these 3 screens and access all the information I need while driving.. But I have been searching for 3 hours and can not find a way to put apps onto my homescreen. I am not talking about an app icon, that is not an app, it is just a shortcut to an app. I need my satnav app to be open on the left screen just like blinkfeed is always open on an HTC, or how flipboard is always open on the newer samsungs. Then I can simply do the same thing with my music app on the right screen. If anyone knows of a solution I would be very happy, thanks in advance. Ryan.
