If you want to be on stock gingerbread, you can go for xxkpu/xxkpq.
The procedure for the same would be in the following order:
Latona.pit>xxkpe>xxkpu/xxkpq>c.f.root(optional if you want to root, preferably universal root by amit.bagaria.)
You can find the threads for the same in the development section.
I am considering flashing to XXKPQ via XXKPE would this be a good idea? Will it boot and such?

yep, a good choice would be xxkpq/xxkpu (remember to flash xxkpe first)
for detailed process on installing the firmware please refer to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133787
for firmware downloads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647
and for rooting with clockworkmod (follow instruction in the post):

Hi, i have succesfully updated to xxkpq, and the only thing that is aestheticaly pleasing is the drop down bar, which is balck, and other options and menus are white, is this the same with xxkpu? I am looking to get the look of XXLD8. Any advise?

Don't hijack threads next time, make sure you have the appropriate CWR version, make sure you do have CWR. Do not download from a mobile standpoint, always from a computer to lower the chances of corrupted .zip's.
So I've rooted my phone and got a custom kernel on it. How would i install ics on it? Or install clockword recovery on it? Thanks!
Now that you have some confidence in your first success, I'd suggest a bit of time to read the posts in these forums to decide what you are going to flash and how to do it.
What do I do next to install a ics rom?

It depends on which ICS rom you want. I know for a fact that for GB recovery you can flash AOKP and CM9, idk about the other ones
Do I just download it and update it through recovery mode?

Hi all! I'm trying to update my Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9003L). It's rooted.I get an OTA update but when I try to apply it, it says "Kernel verify fail. Update fail"
My current firmware version is 2.3.6, my baseband is I9003LUBKPD, my kernel version is is 2.6.35.7-CL765780 [email protected] #1 and my compilation number is GINGERBREAD.UBKPE
I think the problem has to do with the phone being rooted. I unrooted it using the clockwork mod recovery menu, but it didn't work either.
Is there anything I could do?
Thanks!!!
Its giving that error because u r rooted.
Rooting changes your kernel.
And even after unrooting ur device from recovery the kernel remains the same.

So, does it mean I'm out of luck?
No.
U may flash stock rom.
And later from settings u may update ur phone.

Is there a way to just restore the recovery kernel without flashing the whole rom?

(I tried to find the answer before asking but I haven't been able to) Do I need to flash the full stock rom? Or is there a way to just restore the stock recovery kernel? I'm asking because when I rooted I just flashed the PDA file to the phone, but I'm still using the stock rom.
And... is there any guide or tutorial to do this?
-Removed for Personal Information-
I have one way to help.
Keep the stock fw file on sdcard and then by using mobileOdin, select kernel and choose the rom file.
And dont forget to uncheck the rooting options at bottom.
But be sure you have a backed up ur current rom.
As i m not sure if it will definitely work or not.

just flash the entire stock firmware if you want to get OTA

All Done
I've clean flashed from XXKPE 2 times - DDLF2 - CF-ROOT then TheFrankenstain^MODv.3.8.
Then after the first boot I installed tasker but got FC.
I think it's the ROM's issue.
Is there any solution or fix, please?
Hi,
I too used to face the same problem with the two custom roms based on ddlf2.
There is a fix available for this in the below url.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28397140
The thread about the custom rom made by RonnYap (believe me it's too good rom). There you can find the fix map zip. Download it and flash it. It should fix the problem.
NOTE : I didn't try this with the current Frank rom 3.8. So do take backup before flashing and if possible let me known whether it fixed your problem.

I suggest you do not downgrade to Froyo. It is extremely outdated, many of your favourite apps won't work. I suggest you flash ICS. You can look for my ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2409107
But if you still want to downgrade, first flash V10 baseband from LGMDP. Then download v10e zip and flash it through recovery
