[Q] Email Program - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Question for you all:
I'm currently using K-9 to manage my email, but I'm wondering if there's something better out there. I'd love something that didn't cause multiple notifications on Missed It!, but that's probably a Missed It! issue.
What does everyone use, specifically to manage multiple email accounts (I have 4 that I use all the time for various things)? I'm looking to see if there's something better out there.

I'm using the normal gmail app but only have one account.
I read pretty much everywhere about people recommending k9 email so I think you already found the best one.

You can also try touch down. It does cost 20 from the market but a couple of people I know with multiple email addresses really like the app.

Touchdown is good, Maildroid is another good one, Moxier is also up there.

I use the stock asop one....even for my gmail., exchange, yahoo, and Hotmail, works well enough for me

[Q] question about push data

i have been looking all over this phone, and i can't find out how to set how frequently the g2x looks for new notifications (from apps like facebook).
i am very new with android and any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance!
It's up to the developer to add push data to their app. I don't know of many apps that support push besides, the google apps, whatsapp, and kik.
i'm not talking about push data i guess. how do i set how often my g2x looks for data from apps like facebook and words with friends. i want it to look maybe once every 4 or 5 hours, so i can save battery
thanks
In every case I've seen so far that is set in each app, facebook, twitter, weather etc.
Is it not in Settings->Account Sync?.. (taking a shot at an obvious suggestion here).

So I guess it was not wrong to suggest the obvious, lol. Not even trying to put myself on a pedestal here but its just kind of gratifying that I came to the conclusion myself (even if it was so simple), lol.

Facebook Woes

Probably the only complaint I have about my new phone is the lack of a 100% working Facebook experience.
The Facebook app seems to periodically just stop updating/issuing notifications for periods at a time.
TweetDeck works for awhile but then suddenly loses my settings.
Seemic doesn't automatically update/issue notifications at all plus I don't like the fact that the updates from multiple services aren't integrated in one stream like Tweetdeck does.
Not sure what other options I have at this point.
Mine seems to work fine

One of the things that worked super well for me on my old phone was "fim" but sadly, I dont think that its available for android, just winmo. Hopefully the devs decide to port it
If you go Settings->Account and Sync, is background data/auto-sync turned on?
also down where it says "Manage Accounts" make sure it's turned on also.
Yea dude mine us working fine. Check your settings?

yup and yup.
I actually have two facebook items listed here.. the first seems to be for that social updates its called Facebook SocialUpdates when I go in to its details. I have that turned off. When its turned on it generates session expired errors and when I gave it my login it won't accept the password (I've verified the pw is correct).
The other just says Facebook in its details and that is on.
edit: maybe there's another app its conflicting with... frustrating.

Are you running stock? If you're rooted, what I would try is making a back up of your apps using Titanium Backup and then uninstalling all your social networking apps that could be conflicting with it and then reinstall only facebook from the market and see if that helps. Again, that's just what I would try. Good luck
I'm running stock, but I think I'll take your advice anyway and uninstall all the social network apps... can't hurt.
I would have to agree with you, DarienA, of all three OS's, facebook for android is the worst. I mostly speak about the options available in this app version. I am a little biased as my previous phone had FB 2.0 and it was very nice, plus the push notifications were almost instant. Just my two cents on facebook for android.

My work phone is a Blackberry Torch. I've been spoiled by its FB app.

I would have to disagree. The fb app for iPhone is awful.

Besides the App needing the ability to delete comments, seeing all who like something and built in video uploads, I've not had issues with it.

Spoke too soon..they just added Video Upload and the ability to remove comments today...LOL.

How do you remove comments?
It'd be nice to be able to tag photos. I don't think you can do that with the iphone FB app either though.

Yeah you can. The app just never functioned for me properly on my iPhone. Never got my notifications, comments wouldn't load...I'm having much better experiences with the android app.

Well upon further investigation, you can only remove posts or comments that originated from the app...at least that's what I've seen so far.

Best e-mail app for Exchange-accounts on a rooted KF?

Since I have my KF rooted, I'd really like it to connect to my exchange e-mail. What is the best way to do this?

I'm using Enhanced Email from the Amazon Market. It works great with my Exchange Server 2003 SP2. Even brings in all contacts!
I second that, enhanced email is great. I'm running both hotmail and gmail as exchange setups.

Enhanced Email as well. I use it on my phone as well as my fire. Great support from the dev as well.

that app works great
K9 mail has exchange support as well.

Touchdown. Most specifically if you have security on the server such as required passwords etc, the the app keeps those only on the app, not forced to the device as well.

Touchdown... been using it on my smartphones for years.
I've been using it on the Kindle Fire now for a couple weeks. they have a new beta version that works better with some of the new tablet stuff they have been adding.
Have used it in conjunction with MaaS360 as well.

Cerberus free today ONLY

Go get it while you can.
+1 for cerberus. It works really well
I think androidlost kills it

Ive used almost all of them. cerberus has been the best one yet. I can control all the devices connected with my license without having to swap gmail accounts. But each person is allowed their own opinion. So if you like androidlost kudos to you.
You can use one gmail for unlimited devices on androidlost
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2
Are you sure? If the other devices use a different gmail address you have to log in with that email. Atleast that is what I had to do.
Looking at the guide page confirms it uses whatever gmail address is on the phone. I used this for a while until I bought cerberus, dont get me wrong it is nice but IMO not the same or better. I suggest it to anybody that wants a free tracking app.

SMS apps and N5/Android

I love my N5 and will never go back to the land of Apple, there I said that and feel better.
Now, with that said, I do have 1 bug that has been bothering me for awhile. The one app that I miss from my years with iPhones is the bitesms app. It was nothing fancy really, just; notified you when a message comes in, lights up the screen, shows the message and allows you to respond. I've been using ledblinker (don't have THAT iPhone now do you) and 8sms + stock message. Now this works pretty good, but its not always stable.
So, what is the technical reason that this is such an issue? I tried most of the other sms apps in the store and nothing worked well for me. It surprises me that no one has created an app that mimics bitesms for android. Does android not allow this type of notification to be controlled programmatically?
I've tried handcent, chomp and go sms. I'm willing to try any suggestions, but I'm really curious as to why this is an issue.
Have you looked at textra? I use it on my note 2. Made by the people that made chomp and bite

Dang, I did try that, forgot to add it to my list. Thanks for the response.
I really would like an explanation as to why there is an issue with SMS apps? I searched and really just saw some info about the way the interfaces are exposed, but nothing really explaining the reasons. I did not want to create another try the top 5 SMS apps, I think I tried em and I'm pretty OK with 8sms but would like an app just a little more like bitesms, but kudos to the dev for 8sms for sure!!
textra all the way, the dark mode does it all pretty much, I've had some issues with the MMS option to wake up data mobile everytime you want to send a pic, but it seems fixed now, I've tried handcent as well but this one is so much better.
Have you tried sliding messaging? I haven't and use hangouts, but I've read a good bit about it and it seems pretty cool
