So I've been looking in every file in my phone and I can't seem to find where vaulty hides the files. I saw on their website that there should be a folder that says vstdata-DONOTDELETE and I remember seeing this on my phone but now I don't see it. Maybe they changed their way of hiding the pictures and videos? Does anybody know?
Sdcard/DCIM/vault/pictures
That is were mine are stored.

Thank you sir. My SGS2 saved it in external card under DCIM. Not the internal. It's probably like that because I have AOKP.
Try this
Sdcard/DCIM/Vaulty/all images
Here there will be multiple files with extension *.vdata
Rename it to .jpg if image
And .3gp or .mp4 if video

What could make my gallery not read my pics. I have to use quikpic. Or even winamp not reading mp3's. I have to use poweramp. Thanks in advance. Tried reformatting sd card once and still didn't work.

Hm, you check the format of the pictures or the music? Sometimes the gallery or media players don't understand some formats.
My pics are jpg and music mp3. Should be read. Thanks for responding.

you tried quickpic and it didnt work?? what i would suggest is removing the sd card from your phone. then saving all of the media (media only!) on the computer. format the sd card on the computer (fat32). then put the sd card back in your phone. format it on the phone. then connect the phone to the computer and copy all of the media back onto it. reboot recovery. clear cache and fix permissions and see if it works.
Thats the thing. It does work with quickpic. And poweramp plays fine. Gallery is useless. Lot of other players wont read mp3. Have reformatted in past on PC too.

go into cwm and fix permissions.
Done that. Doesn't matter which rom I use also. Thanks.

then you are doing something wrong. if quickpic can see the pictures, then it is not a hardware problem. go to setting and manage applications and clear all data, cache and updates to the gallery. then go back and fix permissions.

Did all that and still not working. Took couple of pics and they came out in gallery. Restarted phone and now they cant be found. In quickpic I have to show all hidden for them to show. Might be something about the tags. Don't know.

Is there supposed to be a nomedia file in that folder. Dcim/camera etc. I dont have one.

I'm running Valhalla 1.3.2 and my folder is /DCIM/camera.
**EDIT**
I also have a thumbnails folder in /DCIM
I hope this helps and you resolve your problem.
Dude same was happening with just check your SD Card for errors from your PC...My problem was fixed after this no need to format or change your ROM just check for the errors from your PC.
Anyone know what would cause this? And what would fix it without going through 1 by 1?

Are you using a media player or something to sync music to your phone? That's the only time I've ever seen it happen.

I just installed Poweramp (again) butni dont think that would do it

Never had it happen on the 4g but it's happened once on my Skyrocket. Still don't know what the cause was. Every time I rebooted I'd have one more set of songs as well as photo's from the gallery. I ended up just reflashing, but someone over there had this as a suggestion

I think poweramp allows you to see track locations. Long press a song and check where it's located on the sd card, then long press the duplicate and check where that one is. Maybe there are just 2 copies on the sd card, if not then it's a library problem with poweramp. You can always rebuild the library.
If you were using jetplayer it could be because it builds a database and other players like poweramp does that also. If you dont have two actual copies then its because of a database creating two listings in your playlist.
another thing to try is sd maid. It should pick up the duplicates if they are there and allow you to remove them. Not sure if you can remove singly or in groups tho.

Ive got sd maid and I thought about using it actually. Would uninstalling jetAudio fix it?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Maybe if it removes all the db files on uninstall. Is your music saved in the media folder on your sdcard or another folder? I know on older versions of froyo and gb there was a bug that if music wasnt in a folder called media then it would show up twice because media scanner would create a fake media folder and non stock players would see it and duplicate the songs.
Can we get an ETA on when you'll find a solution for this? Trollololol.

Do you have files in your LOST. DIR directory? I'm guessing you have the flash corruption I had before I learned not to mount my sd as storage via usb.

Hello,
Now I don't have folder DCIM pony dcim through few days I had both of them (DCIM and dcim) but after restart HTC folder disappeared, stay only dcim. Yesterday I connected HTC to laptop via USB using standard program in windows to opened graphics files and a saw some disappeared files (pictures) but htc changed resolutions to very small (132x......)
Have you ever had this mind of problem?

Disappeared files? If you found smaller versions of your images probably they are thumbnails or previews generated by the gallery app.

I repeat...have you checked the LOST.DIR folder on your "sdcard". If it's full of files, that is likely where your corrupted images went when the disk was checked for errors at boot. In the future, try transferring files using wifi or bluetooth...USB storage was really bad for corrupting files on my phone.
In my "Lost. Dir" I've got only one small file (16k) "69" with strange date 23.12.1979. I didn't transfered files via USB. Can I get back all my pictures from dcim/DCIM folder?
Regards
Mario

Hi All,
the GN 10.1 offers the possibility to add a Photo Note to your pictures. You can essentially "virtually flip" the photo and write on the reverse side. I really like this feature to be able to keep notes together with the photos.
Is is it possible to back up these "flip sides" and keep them in sync if you need to do a reformat of the data and then restore the photos (together with the notes). Where are these located and is it possible to back them up to dropbox.
I have looked around and cold not find them and I could not find any back-up or sync option.
Many Thanks
I'm not sure what app or feature you are referring to, but anyway one should be able to find where the app store its data and then sync that folder using foldersync or some similar application. Try write on a picture, save and go to the folder handler. If sorted by date, the folder that the app is saving in should be on the very top of the folder structure.

The app is the standard gallery app on the stock rom. If you are looking at a photo you can go to the menu and there is the function "add photo note". It flips the photo and you can write on the back (just like you could do on the old paper photos). I looked but I just can't find the files. Maybe it is some type of propriety file format instead of a picture format.
I would just like to be able to back up these notes so you don't lose them.
Any ideas anyone.

I checked too and there's just an empty folder saying "image notes". However, when I'm checking the DCIM folder where the images are I can see that the image seemed to be edited the time I did the note, so maybe it's embedding it in the picture somehow. But when I uploaded it to Dropbox and opened it in the galley from there the note where lost so apparently not.. The only thing I can imagine is that the note is a hidden file in the folder and therefore doesn't show, have you tried using the computer or another file browser?
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda app-developers app
Yes the same thing happened to me when I tried to restore the photo. Shame really, I really like just writing on the back of the photos but if I can't backup them up or even export them I just fear they will go lost and therfore the function has only short time limited use. I don't have access to a laptop for a few weeks so I can't check it from the laptop.
Thanks for looking and trying. Really appreciate it.

So install one, it's rather simple..
Astro is free from the Play Store and works just fine.
The file browser is in the quick office app. Open it and tap the browse folder and it will show SD card. All user files are in there. I don't like it, but that's where they put it.
